Quote:(shrug)I have to admit this opinion has always left me feeling slightly puzzled. I have met many people oveer the years who have felt this way in many different games and I still haven't been able to decipher it. I always derive pleasure from a game from my experience, not from how anyone else experiences the game. How is it that someone else getting something that will make their game more fun, make your game less fun?
It's human nature. I don't think we can come up with a better explanation than that (unless someone here has a background in behavioral science). -
Quote:While this is true, there is no other easily available measure that can be applied. When you are screening job applicants, IN THE ABSENCE OF OTHER INFORMATION, a person with 5 years experience is assumed to be more knowledgeable than someone with 1 year of experience. Now, before the flaming starts can we dissect this a little? I know I'm still fairly new back, but the only major problem I can really see with this is the people who say being a veteran conveys that the person is somewhat knowledgeable about the game in someway.
Time spent here =/= knowledge about the game, its mechanics or even its general storyline.
Same thing with the vet rewards. Sure, the guy with 6 years of vet rewards might be a total moron. But you'll have to find that out the hard way. -

Because the cap *IS* a measure to stop spammers - and a very effective one. I shouldn't have to gimp my email because of spammers. I have my email set to 'fully open' (or whatever you want to call it) since I frequently get email from non-spammer strangers.

Quote:NOT if they also want to be in an SG with their friends.Players already have this ability. It's called a "mini base". Albeit they are more condo's than apartments. The reduction of base costs a few issues back pretty much assured any player who wanted a secret lair could afford to construct one.
We need to have personal apartments INDEPENDENT of SG membership. -
Quote:I would bet real money that the limit was in place before we could email items. It just was never noticed since no one but spammers had a reason to send that many emails.I would imagine that part of Kheldarn's objection is that a 150 email limit has never been mentioned in any of the documentation or patch notes
-
By default, the email system limits how many emails you can send. It does not check to see TO WHOM you are sending them. The limit should absolutely remain in place. If the devs take the time to code an EXCEPTION so that emails TO YOURSELF don't count toward the total, that would be great. But the overall limit must remain.

Quote:um, what? The aggro cap is 17. Plenty of builds can survive 17 attackers. Any enemies beyond that will go after your teammates no matter what you do.Good point. Excessive aggro collection is the death of any tank who doesn't have something like 3 or 4 defenders watching out for them. You've got to let at least a few of your mobs go after teammates if you want to survive.
P.S. Any tank that needs 3-4 defenders to keep him alive SUCKS LIKE A TORNADO.
Say what? You can go below -45%. Trust me. Cimerorans have had my invuln tank down to -100% base defense.Quote:Also, even if the +8% (slotted) defense isn't a whole lot toward soft capping, it could turn out to be crucial if you're getting massively def debuffed, by helping to keep you from the other soft cap (-45%) -

It's when people aren't paying attention and die during the 'easy parts'. I was on a MoITF attempt. At all the 'hard parts' people paid attention. AFTER we defeated Romulus and had to round up another 20 Cimerorans, someone died.

Yep. It feels like opening Wentworth's used to - massive performance hit for a few seconds. It does appear to be proportional to number of badges. I check the badge tabs a lot but don't actually collect them on most toons. My badger (at 768) is the only one with the big performance hit.

Quote:I've seen recent reviews that Norton is now lean, mean and efficient.Macafee and Norton were good for their day, but their day was a decade ago and they've become these monstrous system hogs I won't even look at anymore.
I have no personal experience since I ditched it years ago when the bloat started. -
Quote:We have free trials.I know it easy for me to say Stuff like NCSoft need to advertise on TV more, or maybe consider a free to play scheme to bring in new players but i know those cost money.
No, a server merge would do more harm than good. Also, there are a great many issues with implementation so it's not "pretty cheap". It would be a major undertaking that would be widely publicized as a sign that the game is dead.Quote:A server merge on the other hand should be pretty cheap and though that in itself won't bring in new players at least it would help preserve the players base. It would buy us time to enjoy this game and NCSoft time to implement new strategies to increase the gaming population. -
Actually, that's the correct way to handle a post that could correctly appear in more than one section.

I noticed that their powers aren't identical. I was doing this TF on an ice/FF controller and my guy did not have the big bubble at that level (er... Dispersion Field? I forget the name). However, my shadow had it.
