  1. I've run it twice over the past couple of weeks - once at the middle and once at the highest level. We actually failed on the highest level run because we couldn't heal the core. Barely slipped out on the middle run.

I bugged it in game, but I hope others do, too. You can see when you use the coolant that it heals for +3311, but the health bar never moves. I kept a Fort on it for the second run, but I don't know if that helped or not.

Ditto. Really appreciated you both doing that. Thanks!
  3. It has been suggested before (believe I suggested it myself here somewhere), but absolutely would love to have this.

Thanks for sharing that! I'll keep an eye out for it.
  5. I played for about a year back in 2005 before leaving the game (for various reasons) with the promise to never again pay a monthly fee for a game.

    Then Freedom came out.

No big deal. I signed back up, enjoyed playing, and even dropped a little cash here and there. $5 to buy 400pp and open up tells. Another $5 for 400pp more so I could buy 5 character slots on sale. Then, I bought Going Rogue on eBay for $5 delivered, and had VIP access for a month.

And that was the plan. No more money spent on the game. I was good. My annual game budget is about $50, anyway. Couldn't justify more than that for this game.

Some extra cash dropped in my lap this week, and I continued with my decision to not pay a monthly fee for the game.

Instead, I just bought an annual subscription.

Maybe more shocking is the origin of the idea - my wife. She's not a big fan of online games. But, she said that it's obvious I enjoy the game, and insisted I should go VIP for a year.

Well played, COH. Your clever plan worked.
  6. Two crazy, and probably unimplementable, ideas:

    1. Clear a zone event - determine a zone (maybe with the WST) and whenever ALL bad guys are defeated in the zone, everyone in the zone at that time gets a badge and/or temp power. Imagine a large group of 50s clearing the streets in Atlas Park.
    2. SG Zone - an otherwise empty zone, but SG's can buy sections of it with prestige and build shops, apartments, skyscrapers, etc. The more an SG invests in their section, the more contacts/missions/tfs that open up. Each server, then, would have a unique zone, built by the players.

This is me. Were it not for F2P, I wouldn't play the game at all because I am unwilling to pay the subscription. After I got in, I didn't mind spending a little here and there to open up some content and character slots. I'll grant you it's not much, but it's more than they would have got from me otherwise, and it couldn't have cost them much at all to allow it.

I tend to agree with this, too. The first $5 I spent on the game was only to open up Tells. If I understand the tiers correctly, I'll soon get some other channels like Broadcast, Request, etc. For now, all of that chatter is happening on the Help channel, in my experience.

Wouldn't it be better to allow Free players access to all channels, perhaps after X days of game play, and maybe even restrict them to one message per channel every X minutes? At least then the chatter could occur on the right channel.

And, you're right - maybe they'll make some good connections and be encouraged to open their wallets a bit more, like I did.

    Medicine

I agree the Medicine pool is not real helpful. I did take it on one of my Empathy Defenders, just so I could effectively have 2 rezzes. I haven't found that to be terribly useful.

    Server order

I can't find where this has been suggested before, but it's hard to believe it hasn't. So, pardon me if this is an old suggestion.

I understand how and why the servers are in the order they are in. I flip between 3 servers, and it's a frustration to find the servers in the list when I do.

It would be nice to pin/favorite however many servers you like, or change the sort order to be by date last visited, then server load. Either would allow you to keep your most frequently visited servers at the top of the list, easily accessible.
  10. I'm premium, so I don't have access to all the fancy channels everyone is talking about.

I can usually find a team on Protector, but I also have 2-3 good, global friends who seek me out when I am online. What I struggle with is getting into something *I* would like to do, like a respec trial.

When I can't find a team pretty quickly on Protector, I jump over to Virtue and can get on a team pretty fast.

I'm not sure about that. Hopefully there are a lot of new players coming in who have never played COH. Of those, some are surely going to be looking closely at the actual impact of the enhancements as they place them - they probably scoured paragonwiki and the boards, and are building optimized characters taking ED into account from day one. I suspect others are probably operating under the assumption that 6 level 35 SO's of the same type are 6 times as powerful as 1 level 35 SO.

I'm just saying give players a heads up as they put a 4th slot on something like Stamina, reminding them of ED. If they never want to see the box again, fine. How many other things in the game do we have a reminder for each time we start a new character - stuff we know from even just a little experience with the game, but still need to click the checkbox to never show us again?

Thanks, and it's a great tool I rediscovered after hitting 50 and re-learning about ED. You're absolutely right, though, and I have already used it to develop a plan for my next respec. I can't get it to run on my Linux box, unfortunately, which would make it a lot more handy. (It would also be wonderful if HeroStats was able to stay on top in full screen on Vista or Win7, but that's another topic.)

I think you're right. To be honest, I'm not into the "small" numbers of the game (I'm a Wii type of gamer), if you will, so I wouldn't have noticed. In any event, it would be easy for someone who has it 3 slotted to level up and decide to put 3 more slots there, go buy SO's, and only notice ED in action when they actually went to apply the SO's. Then, they could be here in the forums wondering why their 4th, 5th, and 6th SO's aren't as powerful. I'm just suggesting a dismissable reminder before then. If you're not like me, and actually know what you're doing, it's only an inconvenience once.

Right, I get that. I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to 4, 5, or 6 slot something if you want, just that there be a reminder pop up when you do it on certain powers, and you can check a box to never see it again - ala the enhancement replacement dialog.
  14. I'm a returning player, but my previous account got wiped out. I'm premium, and just hit 50 with my first Freedom character (third character overall).

I was reminded in these forums, after I hit 50 and used both my builds, about Enhancement Diversification. Maybe I missed an in-game reminder, or perhaps one doesn't exist. As it is, on my latest 50, I ended up "wasting" 12 enhancement slots. Hopefully I can get in on a respec trial soon.

I'd suggest a gentle reminder as you try to 4 slot something like Stamina (which can only use 1 enhancement type), telling you about ED. You can then click the checkbox to not remind you again, if you like, and go ahead and 4, 5, or 6 slot it, if you so desire.

I LOVE playing an empathy defender, but one of my biggest pet peeves is resurrecting someone who, in between validation and execution, pops an Awaken. Not only is that downed character now very vulnerable for several seconds, I've just wasted a Resurrect and it will be a while before it is recharged. I know several other powers do that, as well (Absorb Pain, for instance). A wasted Resurrect, to me, is different.

I don't know a good solution here, because I don't know what's possible in the game code. I'm not sure if it would overbalance the game to allow the Resurrect to go off instantly, but tie up the defender in an animation for the same amount of time as now, but maybe that is reasonable.

True for free players, but Premium players can join SGs. I like this ideas as well.

The other suggestion I had was that there could be a different "level up" animation once you hit 50. I get that many feel it's not a high bar to clear, but hitting 50 is a significant milestone in the game.

If you want to go crazy, have it also emit a healing aura.
