Yes we know there ARE issues. But save your rants for another thread. I've ranted at the customer service and in the forums elsewhere, this post asks you "What your Favourite Feature of 2008 was". So please, don't be such a wet blanket.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the only thread linked to for "most improved game announcement". I stated my opinion of the award, and also that I like the new features in my first post. Thought I did say my overall thoughts on the state of the game as well. I was then told that my OPINION is wrong by one of the protector forum trolls. I've paid $600ish into this game, so I will state my opinion as I see fit.

With the sole exception of I13, everything has been extraordinarily stable. This release was rocky, that's true. But the past I think you may be glossing over. It's hardly "worse" - there's a great post down in the General area I think that shows what all we HAVE now that folks who want to reminisce about the "old days" (and believe me I was there) ... it wasn't great. It wasn't better. It was slightly more stable several months ago, but they wanted this release out so that the devs *gasp* might be able to actually take vacations and enjoy the fruits of their labor.

The game's far better today than it was 1, 2 or 3 years ago. Everything is pretty much "moar". My one caveat is... Hami... but let's not go into that...

[/ QUOTE ]

I love how you are subjecting your opinion as fact as the way the whole group of you protector forum regulars always do. Just because you guys THINK the game is better, and enjoy it more, doesn't make it fact that it is better, especially not for every single person who plays this game. Many of my friends are unhappy with the current state of the game and have quit or are looking to move my whole SG to greener pastures again. IE, we left pro for freedom, cause pro got so boring and now looking to move to a new game entirely. While the content has gotten better, the quality and stability of the final product has diminished greatly. Thought it does get better as time goes by with each issue, each issue starts out progressively worse. Seriously, all instances where broken the first day of i13 and it took them 8 hours to react to the situation and do anything about it. Instances make up 75 to 99% of this game if you don't PVP and depending on how much time you spend at the market... I12 went live with many, many known client crashes still unresolved or really poor choices for work arounds in place. I8 and i9 had huge additions to the game in them, and I had many friends who had server lag issues for a few months after each issue went live. I could go on and on. You want to glaze over the rest of the facts then go ahead, but leave the rest of us to formulate our own opinions. Before the whole "if you hate the game, go play something else" starts, box is in the mail, should be here day after tomorrow...
5. Meh, my first reaction is how much did NCSoft pay for this award, next thought is how much competition did they really have? Two "major" MMO's tanked this year, WoW is considered the benchmarks, though I don't see why it's so popular... War is too new. Eve looks like a great game when I played it about a year ago, and seems to still be quite popular. The new features for this game have been great, but something major is broken half the time these days, and with all the new bugs and lag and dc'ing has seriously lowered the quality of play time for me. I keep improving things on my end, and yet this game keeps running worse and worse with every new major patch or game update.

On a brighter note, new PvP seems like i good idea IMO, balancing the battle-field so that n00bs have a chance against teh fotm, uber-pvpers sounds just dandy :P

[/ QUOTE ]

Eh, IMO it give them more than a chance... The new changes murder "good" builds that focus on particular things, like damage buffs or recharge buffs. It also hurts SR more than WP for melee armor sets. The travel suppression removes hit and run tactics. You couldn't pay me to take teleport now. The acc debuff makes strategic killing almost impossible, but does make ganking harder. I will scream bloody murder if that makes into base raiding, if I'm able to get back in game by then. These changes seem to basically take strategy and planning and throw them out the window. Now, just mash your buttons... SO's don't see to put you at any real disadvantage over an IO'ed out toon. Right now I really hate the system, but I need to play now that I can play with my SG in PVP zones, the people I'm use to playing/working with.

I could be completely wrong about this, but I believe that you first need to connect to the patchserver to make sure your version of the client is up to date, then an authorization server to log in, and then the actual game servers.

There seems to be an issue with the patchserver. Might be a genuine problem, or it might just be getting slammed right now from everyone trying to update at one time. I do know I was able to login earlier today, update, and actually get into the game for a bit. I watched Castle play on an entire team of brand new shield characters.

Right now I'm at home experiencing the same issue that many of you are having. Be patient. It might be simple congestion, it might be a genuine problem...either way I'm sure it'll be sorted out soon.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's been 4 hours now... It took you guys 8 hours to figure out that instance missions were broken, and that makes up like 95% of this game. Now would be a great time to for Lighthouse to swoop in and do his usual damage control, oh wait....
8. I crashed 3 times in maybe 3 hours of playing. One of my friends said he crashed 5 times. I think that's a new personal record for me. Even worse than anything that happened during i12 going live, and that was pretty awful on my end. I've also had issues with tells showing up funky and unreadable to friends. Least stable issue yet?
9. I'm very sad to see Lighthouse go. He was held with great regard among many/most players. One of two staff members I liked. Unlike most of the other red names, I was inclined to believe that what LH was saying at least had some shred of truth to it. He seemed to be much more open and truthful about the goings on and what not, and also rarely talked down to players. He seemed to realize that we aren't stupid and in fact many of us know a great deal about programing, modeling/animation, and game inner workings. I'll miss his posts latent with hidden meanings, I rofl'ed at a few of them, and was some what shocked at what was said about this game and the staff. Oh well, here's hoping to see LH at the game I'll be leaving for next summer hopefully, and that maybe we will get more Niviene now.

<3 Niv (elec blast still sucks for corrs! and in general) lol
10. That would be good. I use to be on staff for a bigger message board than this one, with commercial involvement and we ran a much tighter ship than this place.
11. So, does this mean they are gonna actually start enforcing rules around here? How long before the Suggestions and Ideas area is safe to go into?
12. I'd just assume get rid of the market for spammers, but that's not gonna happen. Seems like it would be easier... Purple and Orange recipes stop selling for upwards of 50 mil each and yellows recipes and orange salvage going for upwards of 5 mil each... Make them common enough that prices come down to more resonable prices and, you kill the market for both spammers and farmers... That seems like it would be a matter of adjusting a few numbers and changing the setup for Pools a bit, not editing the game's core engines.... Whatever...
13. So, when is the real problem gonna be addressed here? It's not the spammers, its what's creating the market for the spammers. Things selling for 35 mil at the auction house. Melee damage going for 6 mil each villain side... PBAoE's even more... If you made drop rates proportional to the number of powers that use them in game it would be a serious step to cutting into the market for spammers.
14. I would say thread officially jacked by last two posts from non-protector players...
15. Oh yeah, can we PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add Quote Pyramids to the list?!? That drives me nuts more than anything else, if for not other reason, because they are murder on a message board server. Oh yeah, and a minimum character limit to a post, not including html or aother such coding.
16. Ok, this is the last I'm gonna say here. IMO, this thread needs to be copied slightly edited and stickied globally like the how to get to test server thread. This is a global problem that needs to be addressed globally. As it is just being targeted at a small group that is small part of the problem, it seems to show the moderators don't know what's going on here, other than what they arbitrarily choose to read in their PM box. And in the end, nothing is really gonna come of this until those who continue to thread jack and flame others start loosing posting privileges. That's human nature and the internet for ya...
17. So then Ex, I want to come here, but the problems you've posted here are a problem everywhere, so I don't feel it's worth the time. You guys gonna do anything about thread jacking and intolerance everywhere because me and many others care about other sections too? Well, regardless, after i9 testing, I and many others have become pretty disillusioned about player input and how you guys take it into consideration, if you even bother reading any of it.
18. [ QUOTE ]

1) Threadjacking...this speaks for itself and was the original reason for putting in a sanctioned threadjacking thread. But it happens here on other more serious threads, and quite often.

2) Tolerance...this issue will always be present in one way or another, whether it is personality clashes or just down right arch rivalry. We need to figure out how to agree to disagree at times without making it personal.

[/ QUOTE ]

ROFLMAO, Seriously? Are you kidding me? This is a "problem" HERE?!?!? Hello! Have you read the suggestions threads much? 75% of those turn into flame wars or at least flame bait. 95% of them at some point get thread jacked at some point. These are the main two problems on entire forum here. Not just us. And not just here, but in game there is a lack of tolerance by several players. I got to say, I'm very disappointed by this thread. Singling out one group when this is massive problem everywhere is just poor moderating. You've pointed out the two reasons I don't post on you're "wonderful" forum much, or even read it that often, and why I stick to the Protector section more than anywhere else there Ex. Nicely done. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen here, but what I've seen is a great deal most good natured that what I see elsewhere here. You guys need a bigger moderator staff. I do have a great deal of experience on a very large message boards as a moderator, and we did a much better job of being professional about regulating things due to all the company forums we hosted. www.rscnet.org/forum Eagleracer38x still appears in green...

Thank you, have a nice day,
Ima
19. After reading up on some other "similar" games, while this would be a huge undertaking, I really think this is something that would be a great addition to this game. This would be a huge step forward for the RPG aspect of this game, and have benefits even for those who just like to beat things up.

Here is my basic law:

If your first sig is a toggle, the second may not be a toggle.

If your first sig is a clickie, your second sig may not be a clickie.

If your first sig was a debuff, your second sig may not be a debuff or a self buff.

If your first sig was a self buff, your second sig may not be a debuff or a self buff.

If your first sig was an ally buff, your second sig may not be an ally buff or a self buff.

If your sig is primarilly damage-dealing, your second sig may not be primarilly damage-dealing.

If your first sig was an AoE, your second sig may not be an AoE, or a PBAoE.

If your first sig was a PBAoE, your second sig may not be a PBAoE or an AoE.

If your first sig was a single-target, your second sig may not be a single-target or an AoE.

If your first sig is a summon, your second sig may not be a summon or an ally buff.

Personally I'd aim more for only one can have mez protection. Only one can have damage resistance/defense to toxic... Make it so effects cannot stack from one person. Restricting multiple AOE's though isn't a bad idea.
21. Making them "earn-able" is good too, but obviously they have to work like PPP's, where you only get access to one set and that's it. I was thinking if they where "inherent" it would be something you selected at character creation along with your AT and origin... Either way, I like them...
22. Yeah, I agree these shouldn't be selectable/slottable powers. They should be little inherent auto powers earned automatically as you lvl.

I really like this as a concept. Would like to see some other "classes" added to it. No suggestions though... :-P

Anybody ever play Freedom Force? Anybody think this sounds a lot like their "Design your heroes powers" bit?

Which, btw, is a fantastically good thing :P

[/ QUOTE ]

The creators of that game did a really outstanding job with that game. Developing your own heroes and their powers from scratch is really neat. That build a power engine is really neat and well done. Would probably be way to exploitable in a game like this... :-P
25. [ QUOTE ]

It doesn't matter if these things are extremely powerful or very underwhelming in terms of usefulness or destruction. What matters is that these are unique, just like your character. You're set a part. You're different. In Paragon City, YOU are the hero. YOU have your own outfit. YOU have your own powers. YOU have an investment in the game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Word! I know I already said this, but I love this idea... I think adding this, a personal nemesis, and the crafting stuff for i9 would really make for an outstanding RPG aspect to this game.

My ideas for powers, Ice "armor" added ice damage for my scrapper Claymore Frost, and something like Power Build Up + Some Hasten action for Imagikan to make those emp powers even more uber.
