Jack, there's a big difference between being brutally honest and being a snake oil salesman.

You are an EMPLOYEE and a REPRESENTATIVE of the company you work for. You have an OBLIGATION to be professional. As much as you'd like to spout your "aw shucks, I'm just a gamer like you" excuse, you're a freakin' professional that should know to temper his "gamer-ness" with some damn common sense. I know your intentions behind what you said may have been innocuous, but you make your bosses look bad. I'm pretty sure they don't appreciate it.

I believe he IS the boss....

I dont think he makes his bosses look bad if he IS the boss, even if he's telling the truth at least its not some PR B.S.

By not spinning, I believe he is making better PR.

I cant believe some people actually dislike Statesman's honesty.

Professionals who tell you how it is, is the best professional out there. They dont spin B.S. and try to make you throw money at them. Now they want the money, granted. ( Who doesnt? Lets not B.S. ourselves ) but at least they make you feel like someone gives a damn.

Statesman, I respect you most as a developer, I keep telling my online buddies about Cryptic from how you handle things. They're frankly sick of me harping praises of Cryptic.

Dont ever change the way you do these things, its what makes you guys the best devs out there.

I hope Cryptic is up to other video games in the future, I will definately be buying them.

and last but not least: I hope your brother makes it home.

Boss of what? I'm sure States has to answer to someone. Unless he owns Cryptic. And I don't know, perhaps he does. Good for him. If he is the boss (and hell, even if he isn't), he should be concerned about the customers and how he interacts with them. The "well, I'm only a gamer, just like YOU" doesn't wash with me. I may be a "gamer," but I also know how to talk to clients. Sheesh...it's not like he's some wet behind the ears kid out of college at his first "real" job.

And there's honesty vs. raw honesty. I'm not asking for PR spin. I'm asking for professionalism. I'm asking for some thought as to how to say things before a random clicking of the submit button. I'm shocked that I even have to point out that there is a middle ground between "whatever comes to mind right here, right now" and "smooth marketing/pr blah blah."

I've seen more than a few people crying for Ice Tankers to have their own place to give feedback. And since we've already planned to change Unyielding some, a few think we're ignoring Ice in favor of Invulnerabilty. So I wanted to start this thread.

Here's a couple of changes coming that I think will help:

Reduced Accuracy of Minion level Turrets from 75% to 58%.
Reduced Accuracy of Lieutenant level Turrets from 94% to 65%.
Reduced Accuracy of Boss level Turrets from 113% to 75%.
Reduced Accuracy of Snipers from 75% to 65%.
Reduced Accuracy of Archvillains from 90% to 75%.
Reduced Accuracy of Giant Monsters from 90% to 75%.
Reduced Accuracy of Monument Minions from 75% to 58%.
Reduced Accuracy of Rularuu Bosses from 90% to 75%.

BIG thanks to Circeus, for his tireless devotion to all that is Ice Tankerish. Hip hip hooray!

PLEASE keep the discussion limited to Ice Tankers. Anything else will be removed.

Scanning post for changes to Ice Tankers.

    Still scanning.

    Still....scanning.

Oh, wait, is the villian ACC nerf supposed to be a bone thrown to Ice Tankers?

    *boogle*

So, let me process this: instead of making villians smarter and more dangerous, in addition to nerfs to tankers (and other classes...I ain't forgettin' anyone), you're nerfing villians to compensate for player nerfs. Can someone tell me how this makes any sense? Instead of giving poor ice tanks a little love, just a wee bit, they've nerfed bad guy accuracy.

Wow. Just wow. I can't WAIT for Infernal, Bobcat, Tyrant et al. to visit the boards and threaten to cancel their accounts. Can't say I blame them.

We were promised PVP would not affect PVE, back when PVP was announced.

    We were promised this.

No. We were promised that no change to a power in PvE would be made solely due to PvP considerations.

And what exactly is the big honkin' problem with SS and SJ in PvE that warrants a nerf?
  5. *sniff*...

You guys, (just a second, choking up here....), you guys really know how to pull together to make sure every race in the universe can enjoy this guide and successfully kill skuls. This is an example of the beauty of human kindness.

    I've translated it into Swahili:

    1. Click.
    2. Tawwwwck.
    3. Click-doooph-doooph clickclack toop!
  6. Due to the overwhelming success of this guide, I'm considering a TV infomercial or a full-scale documentary, ala Farenheit 911, to further the "Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls!" directive.

I think Sally Struthers would make a great spokesmodel for our instructional infomercial, as her tearful reading of "Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls!" could really hit home with the people who are having difficulty with this skul-killing technique.

It took a lot, A LOT, of research and development, not to mention trial and error, to come up with the PRECISE steps for successful skul killing, and I think many people could benefit from our intel.
  7. The steps:

    1. Go.
    2. Hunt.
    3. Kill Skuls!
  8. I predicted Hellgeist for the win...excellent costume. Great work all...congrats to everyone!
  9. Raising the level cap would mean the creation of lv 50+ content and I would imagine a great deal of content at that. Didn't EQ raise their lv cap to 60 but release a new product/expansion to account for lvs 50-60? I can't remember too well...I've blocked those two lost years out of my memory.

I would LOVE to see the cap raised because I'd like more powers on my primary toon. When you're kinda handcuffed to certain powers and power pools, there's just some stuff I'd like to take later on, but don't have room for. Sigh...
  10. I am not at all surprised that some people will find anything to complain about. If this makes the OP feel "small" as another poster suggested, perhaps the OP should really THINK about what's so damn bad about plopping 8 heroes in front of a door to accomplish something together as a team.

I did this with 2 of my toons and had a blast. Sure, it was easy to beat up on the poor monsters that came to answer their doorbell, but hanging out and joking around with new people was fun. And people stuck around to help others get their badges, especially when it came to the pumpkin king.

When a game goes above and beyond to offer special events like CoH does, we should probably try to nit-pick less and just enjoy what the devs have cooked up. There's a two-way relationship here; the game isn't going to be fun if you don't at least meet it halfway and try to have some fun yourself by engaging in the game and the other players.

I had a great time with the Halloween event and I think the majority of players did as well. And I did find a REAL exploit: I've learned that dancing to entice vampires and wolves to the doors DOES work, but ONLY if your other team members join in.
