  1. I've long suspected that the endurance problem is specifically an Ice thing. I've yet to meet an Ice/Ice that doesn't complain about it. Some others do too but not with same regularity, and again others say they're fine.
  2. Hmm.. what are my chances of getting my nearly-38 blaster up to 40 by then? Probably pretty slim.. but just in case..
  3. Normal holds are Mag 3, Domination doubles the magnitude and gives, IIRC, 75% more duration. Power Boost doubles the duration but does nothing to magnitude.

I guess Filth's Mag 18 comes from applying a ST hold, then AoE hold, then ST hold again?

Yeah, with Domination and Power Boost I think my AoE hold should* last longer than controllers' before the nerfs AND it can hold bosses.

On this. Another sign the Doms secondaries need looking at is how attractive Ice & NRG are compared to the others.

I reckon if I'd picked either of those two instead of thorns I might be less inclined to think Doms are weak.

Hmmm. A Grav / Energy dominator might make me change my tune on Doms.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't really agree with this. I think Ice secondary is relatively weak on damage and strong on control, with Energy you might have a case and the entire Psi seems weak with the exception of the best final power out of them all. But with Aim you should be able to drop accuracies from your AoE hold, giving you two more slots you can use for recharge and duration. And a damage boost as well.
  5. It's not that bad, the durations are 80% of the controllers'
  6. Yeah, with Domination and Power Boost I think my AoE hold should* last longer than controllers' before the nerfs AND it can hold bosses.

I think if you compare the ATs, Domination makes easily up for the controllers' longer hold durations. However, the assault secondary and damage buff in domination are no match to the support secondary and containment that controllers have.

Disclaimer: I never had a controller before the nerfing of AoE holds so I'm not entirely sure about this, but it does last impressively long. And holds bosses!
  7. I wouldn't make a decision based on it, simply because they both have access to both Flight and Teleport with the forms.

I do wish peacebringers could get Recall Friend, though.
  8. Eep, I'm not sure I want to get into this argument. I've seen it way too many times and I don't represent any of the extreme opinions anyway. I think doms could use a little something in the way of buffage.
  9. 3 heals is a must. It's great, the regen boost is much better than in Fast Healing. It's not really expensive but I guess a stalker might still want to slot some endurance reduction since you don't have Quick Recovery. I'd start with 3 heals and see how it goes.
  10. I've been reading the US forums, where dom damage vs troller damage is a recurring cause of flamewars. They have actually ran quite a few tests, and the doms generally come on top in them. Controllers can do wicked damage with containment, and I'm first to admit that my low level Ill/Kin is incredible with Blind + Spectral Wounds, but AoE damage and attack shains are usually where controllers come up short. And no controllers apart from /Kin and /Rad with Fire or Ill primary really even stand a chance.

But I do think controllers' damage is too close for comfort. Doms should outdamage them by a huge margin, considering all the other stuff controllers can do better.
  11. I don't think controllers will consistently outdamage dominators in PvE when it comes to sustained DPS, with a possible exception of specific builds. However, this shouldn't even be a question. Dominators have an entire secondary that does very little else than damage.

I think defenders have the same problem in that the secondaries seem very insignificant and lacklustre. At least most defenders get some support from their primary in this respect. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I'd like to remove the damage buff in Domination entirely and increase the base damage instead. That would solve the endurance issue too because IMO the entire problem lies in damage per endurance.

I also have some problem with the fact that our entire secondaries consist of powers that other powersets get much much earlier. It seems an awfully long time to wait until level 35 and 38 to get something like Greater Ice Sword or Bitter Ice Blast. And if I had one of the sets that gets a snipe I'd be very annoyed.

    8-Scrapper TF

I got all excited about this and then noticed it was Defiant

Anyone interested in doing something similar on Union? I'd be up for anything lvl32+ with Idris - can't stand the thought of losing Golden Dragonfly!

I'm up for this with Trill if I'm still in level range

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, you are for now. Top of the range is 35, whether you want to exemp or not if you get above that before then is of course up to you.

/em tempts with shiny badges, the Paragon Protector one too

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, how long can the poor peacebringer hold out? HOW can she possibly resist the diabolical urge to get the badge? WILL her tortured mind give in to its uncontrollable desires? CAN she withstand the temptation to get the badge that even now beckons her ever closer? WILL she succumb to the maddening urge to get one more badge to her collection?!
    The beautiful, shiny badge!
    The jolly, candylike badge?!
    Will she hold out, folks?
    CAN she hold out?!

    NOOOOOOO! She can't!

    Oh yeah, I'm in
  14. Acrobatics is nice and all but it's a pity to be shoehorned into taking a certain travel pool because of something unrelated to travel. Don't get me wrong, I love Leaping pool, but I'm getting to the point where all my toons have it - inconveniently, it fits best the concept and playstyle for the one who don't really need it for mez protection, eg my scrapper. Even my Brute has to take it for knockback protection.

And anyway, that still leaves stuns, sleeps, confuses and fears, and stuns and sleeps drop Acrobatics.

Controllers can get mez protection in epic pools so I don't see why doms shouldn't.
  15. Yup, endurance is my only major gripe as well. Aggro thing is really a question of playstyle, it can be avoided and really there's no reason why the dom should take alpha. There are brutes and MM pets for that.

I don't pvp but I believe some love would be due there.
  16. It depends a lot on the type of dominator, I think. Mind has some non-aggro options and a few other sets also have powers that can used as an opener without a huge risk to the dom. I've never played Fire control but I understand that it's heavier on damage, lighter on control so I can easily believe it gets aggro problems. I know my ice dom has to be careful in teams or I will faceplant in two seconds. Ice has lots and lots of soft control that doesn't stop the enemies from attacking completely, but does get them irritated enough to want to get rid of the poor fragile me. I can't open with Ice Slick unless I can place it out of line of sight, otherwise it's suicide and it ticks me off that a lot of PUGs expect me to, just because they have seen so many plant doms run in and open with Carrion Creepers and Seeds.

It's a bit like being an AoE heavy blaster. You can be devastating but you need the team to support you. If they can't or won't, you need to hold back a bit, focus more on your single target controls and stop trying to control the entire spawn.

I do wish we'll get some shields in the patron powersets. Mez protection would rock, too.
  17. I'm up for this with Trill if I'm still in level range
  18. Hmm yeah.

This is why my PB prefers click buffs like Hasten, Conserve Power, Essence Boost and Build Up, to toggles and passives like leadership and fitness and the shields. Buffs do transfer to forms, you just can't cast them in other than human form. It's a little irritating but then the forms have inherent buffs of their own. And maybe humans don't find a squid much of an inspiring leader

    Photon Seekers

Thanks. I think I'll go with Photon Seekers, despite the unreliability.
  20. Idris

    is it just me?

Yeah, I understand that too. I find Nova very good at what it does (ie strong and consistent AoE damage) and I enjoy the incomparable 3d mobility, but it does have only 4 attacks. Then again, same could be said about a scrapper with a toggle based secondary. There isn't exactly a huge amount of variety of what to do there, either. And with Nova, at least I can get into the other forms if I like.

I think a lot of people who find peacebringers boring are thinking about the forms in isolation. Nova is like Blaster with 4 attacks, Dwarf is weak Tanker, etc. If there's a blaster- or tanker-shaped hole in the team, you certainly can fill it adequately, but an already reasonably balanced team is where it gets interesting, as you can keep changing your approach on a per situation basis. At least that's how I would ideally like to play my PB. I'm not quite there yet, to be honest I already have so many tricks up my sleeve that I forget to use half of them. It certainly makes an interesting change to look at pool powers and think 'meh'

    Photon Seekers

    Hmmm.. I have to ask...

How often, when fired from point blank, do you find them not working as intended? Is it frequent enough that you can't really count on them?
  22. Idris

    Photon Seekers

Would you ever consider taking Photon Seekers before Dawn Strike? I just hit 32 and am contemplating my choice. I like the idea of a mini nuke that doesn't drain my end, but is it worth pushing Dawn Strike to 35?

I guess Conserve Power + Dawn Strike + Catch A Breath would not disrupt the flow too much either.
  23. I'll probably be there with my new blood peacebringer. Although I sort of feel Lusca is family..
  24. Idris

    Dm/Rgn

Ok, I'm a supporter of Revive but even I wouldn't slot it unless there was really absolutely nothing else I could slot. Endmods and heals do affect the amount you rez with but the unslotted amount is pretty much enough to get right back into battle. It seems to be 75% health, 50% endurance, and for a Regen that's basically full health since you lose all aggro when dying so in a team setting you can turn Integration back on at your leisure unless you die right next to Infernal.
  25. Hmm, librarians aren't exactly healer-types, are they? Conceptwise I would kind of have liked to leave off Transfusion on my Kin/Psy librarian but a heal just seemed too useful to pass up on. Not that the Kinetics heal is ideal for blasters anyway, especially considering all the Boost Range plans.

I agree it would have been cool to make the SG all AR blasters, but people lose interest sooner if it's made too challenging so personally I think having some controllers/defenders is a good idea.
