generous helping of mud
top it with sod for added flavor -
I checked Iakona's spreadsheet and there is a page in there that explains how much each tier represents in ingame percentages, the page is called "Set Bonus Descriptions".
-
You cannot slot more than one of any type of stealth IO into your entire character. This means exactly one run, jump, fly, OR teleport, but no more than one. The stealth IO's also last 120 seconds after the toggle drops or click is activated. An alternative to slotting passivly is to slot in sprint and click it on and off as necessary.
Also the chance for build up proc is quite a rare proc, not particularly useful unless you use dark blast in your main attack chain, even then I would rather use the slot elsewhere.
You could log on to the test server to check the bonuses yourself, and I recalled Iakona's spreadsheet having a page that listed the bonuses and what they were ingame, though I could be wrong. If you still need the information when I get home I'll check up on some of the bonuses and post them. -
I'm going to miss the first half of it, sadly. My friday class runs two hours in. Other than that I hope to be there, albeit belatedly.

High Pain Threshold (Hereafter Pain)
Level 35 (no minimum). A 10% increase in hit points. This corresponds to the hero accolade Freedom Phalanx Reserve Member.
[/ QUOTE ]
Minimum level for HPT is 10, High Pain Threshold requires Deathless, which is an epic debt badge, you cannot get debt before level 10. Also I think HPT is a better condensation for it's name, and it's what most people I run into use to refer to it.
[ QUOTE ]
Couch Potato (Hereafter Potato)
Level 50 (no minimum). This is a 25-minute-recovery click power attack that immobilizes. Corresponds to the hero accolade Conspiracy Theorist.
[/ QUOTE ]
As indicated before, this Accolade is called 'Headline Stealer', and I generally hear the term 'HS' to abbreviate it. It's minimum level is 15, because one of the badges for it is a Bloody Bay exploration badge, which cannot be accessed until 15.
[ QUOTE ]
Hero Slayer (Force)
Defeat Signature heroes in mayhem missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
You need to defeat exactly 100 heroes to earn this badge. That's a LOT, you're not likely to get it the normal Mayhem way until 40 at least. However, there are other ways to obtain it. The contact in Nerva, 'Operative Rutger' (level 30-35) gives out a story arc where you eventually face Infernal. Infernal summons a few demons every once in a while, they also count for this badge. Grab however many people you can, and farm him for a while to get Hero Slayer easier. He won't summon more if you have more people on your team, but if you can get enough higher levels it should be a lot easier to keep him aggro'd for extended amounts of time, just be sure to not kill him. Details for the Story Arc can be found here .
[ QUOTE ]
Vandal (Force)
Destroy items in mayhem missions.
[/ QUOTE ] Exact numbers for this is Destroy 25 Fire Hydrants, Newspaper Vendors, Pay Phone Booths, and Mailboxes. These are all slightly more rare than the usual cardboard boxes, cars, barrels, metal crates, etc. but it's easy to keep a mental note on how many you destroyed per run and write it down after you completed it. Or just remember which ones count for the badge and smash them all whenever you see them.
[ QUOTE ]
Coldhearted (Demonic)
Kill 250 Hellfrosts or Hordelings. (Start at the south eastern part of the map in Diable Mountain in Cap au Diable. Then work your way north and all the way west along the north coast. Continue this circle.)
[/ QUOTE ] Common spelling error with this badge, it's Coldblooded, not Coldhearted. I've been hearing it mispronounced a lot since the Valentines event started
Further edit: Ignore this, it's Coldblooded for heroes, and Coldhearted for villains.
[ QUOTE ]
Outlaw (Force)
Defeat Paragon Police in mayhem missions.
[/ QUOTE ] This badge requires one thousand PPD KO's, like the Villain badge. Problem is these guys are a lot rarer than longbow. Try to get in a large mayhem group, or once you hit level 40+ several contacts give out missions which have PPD in them, the Television's Couch Potato badge mission is one such mission. Kill all the PPD, reset, and keep it up until you have this badge.
[ QUOTE ]
Impounder (Force)
Destroy vehicles in mayhem missions.
[/ QUOTE ] Exact number is 200, not much to say here really, just destroy them whenever you see them, I'd hold off on it until you're level 10 at least though, they take a very long time to destroy at low levels, and their explosion can be pretty deadly if you're nearby.
Hope this info helps your guide out -
[ QUOTE ]
This is by far the most useful of the newbie powers, you can use it for life, where every other orgin you stop using the power after a few levels. I'm betting it's only a matter of time until they realize this thing is overpowered due to the debuff effect and nerf it. I was on a team of 8 right after I7 when AVs were still totally insane, and 5 of us were magic origin. We took down Dr. Vahzilock without any trouble, because we debuffed the stuffing out of him with those charms (and only those charms, we had no debuff defender on the team!)
[/ QUOTE ]
I would like to see some numbered tests with apprentice charm against AV's, most debuffs are, if I recall, resisted quite heavily by EB's and AV's. Your team might have been meshed well enough together to be able to defeat doctor vahz even without its debuffs. If indeed the -res effect of the power is unresistable, it might have a good use versus hamidon -

No Santa Gloves with trenchcoats? In fact whats up with the extremely limited selection of gloves on trenchcoats.
Pretty sure that no screen shot is needed. But I will provide one upon request.
Oh and I heard a rumor... "Jay is sexy", I'm pretty sure that was it.
[/ QUOTE ]
They limited a bunch of gloves with trenchcoats for clipping issues, however I'd like to see sleeveless trenchcoats as a different option with all the gloves available plz sexy jay! -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm saying these are signs of potential trouble and I stand by that assessment.
[/ QUOTE ]
These two pieces specifically should be reworded, as both give the impression that just that sign makes the player unworthy, which contradicts the beginnings of the paragraphs where you mention it's only a sign, this could be a good deal of the reason both paragraphs sound boot-worthy by themselves.
[ QUOTE ]
If a person can't be bothered to speak properly to his teammates, why would he exert effort toward mastery of the game or helping you?
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
You don't want someone who seeks out cheap powersets like Energy Melee
[/ QUOTE ] -
[ QUOTE ]
One sign of an unworthy teammate is the use of "Leet." If a person can't be bothered to speak properly to his teammates, why would he exert effort toward mastery of the game or helping you? For example, avoid healers who use the curt and dismissive "kthxbi" instead of, "Alright. Thank you and see you soon." This leet-speaker cares -nothing- for you and probably won't be much of a healer. Slovenly language reflects a slovenly person. (This absolutely doesn't apply to those for whom English is a second language, but to those too lazy to use even one language properly.)
Another sign is a "flavor of the month" set of powers. You don't want someone who seeks out cheap powersets like Energy Melee, but the one who likes to find unorthodox ways to counter those powers. (Incidentally, Intimidate does something wonderful to the Aim/Buildup combo.)
[/ QUOTE ]
For the most part your guide looks good, however for these two paragraphs I'd re-word them. For the first, leet speak isn't really a sign of a player who can't play, a lot of people use condensed words, I see nothing wrong with it personally, the only real thing that matters is whether you as the player can stand it.
The second paragraph I don't think should be included at all, as 'FoTM' powerset combinations ARE FoTM for a reason. There's nothing wrong with someone wanting to play a good powerset combo, FoTM is really just a derogatory phrase tacked on to a good number of powerset combinations because of (and this is just speculation, mind) players who see what kinds of things the powerset can do and want to play it to. The actual phrase 'flavor of the month' doesn't make sense at all if you think about it. How many months has spines/regen been a flavor, for example? -

Critiques of team tactics aside, I'll see your 'pull with a fireball' story and raise you a 'I'll use rain of fire to pull.'
Your move.

Rain of Fire one mob, Fire Ball a second, Breath of Fire a third, all at once. Game, set, match! -
Well this one time I made a fire corruptor and took fire ball and fire rain and aoe pulled all the time to piss people off.

Hehe, I don't know why, but this made me laugh a lot
Edit:
[ QUOTE ]
Many of the noob mistakes I see involve people ignoring the contributions of other players. For instance, it was pretty ridiculous watching a tank, blaster, and two scrappers in the Hollows wipe to one third of a spawn of Trolls while the two Defenders fruitlessly kept yelling at them to come into the clouds, where they were successfully tanking the other 2/3 of the mob.
[/ QUOTE ]
This reminds me of my /rad controller tanking about 10 or so mobs while the rest of the team dealt with the others, I just stood there, /newspaper'd and asked them when they'd be done with them. Afterwards the tank said 'good healing'. Which confused me because here I was tanking the greater part of the spawn and the tank needed heals?
Ah well, makes for fun times either way. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just bear in mind this as well, once you get a bonus for a type of thing, stop breaking that same thing, you only get ONE time bonus per type of thing, but Paragon is a target rich environment, so break a different thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure I've gotten a second bonus for an item before. It may only be certain items will let you have a second bonus. I'll try to look into this. Specifically I recall getting 2 time bonuses on parking meters or cars.
[ QUOTE ]
There was one time when I aggroed so many longbow that someone could have been forgiven for thinking it was I4 again and I had a tanker, herding.
[/ QUOTE ]
Me and a friend both agree that longbow ambushes are bugged, and sometimes spawn many more longbow than they should. This is (we believe) caused when you use super movement powers to move quickly, most notably using superjump or fly. However we haven't really gotten further than hunches. One time the group we had rushed the bank, and the longbow ambushes swarmed in, about 8 or so per wave every couple seconds for maybe 3 or so minutes. Funny thing was, almost all of them were Eagles. Now this was in a group, however the amount of longbow we fought would have devastated us easily if we hadn't been in the bank. Also everyone rushed the bank going the same path; so it's not like there were a bunch of different ambushes, just maybe 2 or 3. And in case you're curious we had lots of aoe so all the longbow went bye-bye
[ QUOTE ]
Out of curiosity, if you reset a Mayhem mish and re-enter, do you get the timed bonuses again for those first defeats? (i.e., first Bus Stop, first PPD Van, etc.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, on live and test you can currently reset and get bonuses for items again, (which are also reset if you destroyed them) -
[ QUOTE ]
JL for me was a dissapointed in that cone is very narrow..like 2 guys right next to each other rarely hits, unless stacked AND the depth on it barely gets 2 guys unless again stacked :/
But otherwise I am impressed with the other first 3 attks, they do good dmg and nice mixed types, about that same as EM as BS + WH are about that same as using TS.
CI, just needs bug fixing, once that is done I hope its BI is in the 3-5 range for the initial hit...
As for telesmash aka Lightening Rod, I really want to hear more about its recharge and BI, please if you can test this and let us know, for me that will be the make or break (for me) to take Elec melee.
Thanks guys for all the hard work I got myself thru lvl 10 but dont have access at the moment to keep up testing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Talking with a friend of mine we worked out an 8.4(I think) BI for it, if my game hadn't crashed earlier I could look it up again
