What would happen if someone deletes a character, though?
[/ QUOTE ]
Deleted characters are no longer in the SG. Sad but true. They'd just walk out the door, never to return.
[ QUOTE ]
Also, what would happen when someone logs in as a character that is invloved in some animation with other offline characters?
[/ QUOTE ]
Depends on where they log in - if they log in "in the field", then the "NPC" version in the base will just walk to the nearest door and exit, just like a typical citizen who's just been rescued. If they log in at the base (which I hope will be an option), they just stand up, stop whatever they were doing, and revert to player control! -
I said it before, and I'll say it again since the old thread vanished.
Fill up those empty corridors and rooms! What good is having a huge base if only one or two people in your SG are online and you're rattling around in it like two pebbles in a 50 gallon oil drum?
I want to see my offline SG mates sparring in the training hall, lounging in the rec room, tinkering with the defensive cannons, monitoring the security cameras and/or the citywide comm network, arguing in the conference room, watching TV, playing poker, and maybe even cooking up a little dinner for their hardworking (online) compatriots. Heck, how cool would it be to see two of your own alts working together in the crime lab?
I want this a lot. Please? -
Don't know if these have been mentioned ...
Shaking a fist in the air, for when foiled, or to just express general hostility.
"Hopping mad" - hunched over, hands balled into fists, bouncing from one foot to the other like an angry ape in an old video game. -

how about having the character rub his hands in a crafty fashion, or something a la Mr. Burns going "excellent"
[/ QUOTE ]
A must have. Note that simply rubbing the palms together like a boy scout trying to start a fire will not do. They simply must knead together, rubbing the back of the left hand with the palm of the right, and then vice versa. OK, maybe I am too much of a perfectionist.

Almost forgot, what villainous tirade would be complete without pantomiming the motion of holding the world in your gloved hand and then crushing it mercilessly?
[/ QUOTE ]
An excellent one. Just holding your hand aloft for a second and then crushing it into a fist. I love it.

The tapping the finger thrice on the forehead or temple as if to say, "Think, McFly!"

Also good to simply illustrate plain old megalomania. I love this one too.
Good god, what a long thread. I can't read all that. I have work to do! -
Read about half the thread so far, watching it go round and round and round ...
Anyway, just thought I'd throw in. Tried exemplaring with pals, it sucked, won't do it again unless there's absolutely no other way to team. An SG member tried it, he had the same experience. RSK bad, SK good.
For me, the "you are better than any other level 10 out there" argument falls sorta flat when you add in the learning curve. Only by playing for a few hours am I going to be able to recondition my reflexes to a character with half her powers gone. Ahh! I've been hit! I'll Fly away! Oh wait, Fly is greyed out. Dead. Good thing debt melts away so fast when Exemplaring! Oh wait, it doesn't actually get paid off that fast. Then I have to readjust all over again when I return to my "real" level. I'm not saying that it can't be done, but it is just another frustration with RSKing.
Seems to me like the cons of RSKing far outweigh the pros as things stand now. Sure, some people like it. Great. Just seems like the RSK target demographic is a "niche" market and it would be so easy to make 90% of people like RSKing rather than 5%. -
Reading through the thread (about 1/3 of the way through now), and want to make a counterpoint that is likely to be a minority view since the opposite viewpoint has been stated many times (and my viewpoint not once (yet)).
I like being sent back to newb type zones by my contacts.
I'd be annoyed if it happened with every mission, but at the rate I've been getting them in the mid 20s (about 10 or 15% of the time), it's totally cool with me. I like being reminded of my character's past, and I love the idea that (for example) there's a huge underground 5th Column base in King's Row - a zone filled with hundreds of zealous but inexperienced heroes who have no idea what's really going on right under their noses.
Sure, it has nothing to do with actual detective skills or anything - it's just another contact giving me another mission, just like those low level characters are doing - but I nevertheless get a sense of accomplishment. -

"Properly socially ajusted people" who feel the need to force their preferences on others should be very happy playing 5th column in CoV.

Sounds good to me, but I think ya'll should add an option that lets people surrender/forfeit missions so they can pick up other tasks in case something happens to the team on the multiple-task (or even regular) missions.

We can call it the "Kill 10 CoT in Kings Row" button

LOL.
Oh, also noticed this for the first time:

I have one question about using the teleport bind. I can port easily using the shift bind, but I can't keep holding down the shift key and do multiple ports using a mouse click, I have to release shift and re-press it for each port. Is this the way it's supposed to work or something with my keyboard settings?
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't work this way for me - I can hold down Shift the whole time. I think it works this way for most people. Maybe you should try using Ctrl or Alt instead of Shift?
