Quote:And for some time I've gotten the feeling I was the only one:Heck, I regularly turn off Exp gain just so I won't out-level my contacts until I'm finished with them. (I'm also rather obsessive about having full happy bars on every contact).
Me: I have XP off right now.
Person I'm chatting with: XP off? What's the point of playing if you have XP off?
Thank you for that. -
Quote:What do those of us that can't run at this setting do? And I have a new-er computer. Set at this level I have so much lagging and bounce back that the game becomes nearly impossible to play.If your Shader Quality is not set to Medium or High, you will get this issue. You also will not be able to see patterns on Shields except Kite. You also won't be able to see some of the Resistance History Badge Plaques in the outdoor zones in Praetoria.
If you set your Shader Quality to Low (World bumpmaps enabled), it will tone down the brightness considerably, and make the maps playable again. -
That may be what it's supposed to mean, but I get some erratic behavior in spawns with it set like this that I don't get when it is set at x1 or x2 or anything other than x0. Most notably, enemy groups all having just a single lieutenant spawn, or if I have bosses on when solo, all just a single boss, but never a minion to be found.
Also, this x0 on new characters was not there before i17. Previous to i17 my new characters all started at x1.
To be honest, I have no idea why anyone would want to race through the content of and PL through Going Rogue since once it's done your basically back to the the regular game with the new features. If all you want to do is PL through it why not just create a hero of villain to begin with? -
The problem I'm having is that all my new characters seem to start at +0/x0 rather than +0/x1 and the x0 part causes some buggy behavior, like an entire map filled with single spawn mobs of lieutenants that all con orange, red, or even purple. I can't for the life of me figure out how I can be x0 players and the only way to fix the problem is to be able to visit someone to change the difficulty. I have submitted this as a bug but never heard anything on it.

For those that are interested, I got my Infamy back, HOORAY!
So, in the future, if the same thing should happen to you, send a petition right away and you too might get lucky.
Seems that after a thorough trawling of the server logs they found something, though they were not specific as to the details. I don't envy them at all, I've had to trawl server logs myself and it is a tediously boring thing to do. -
Quote:Ya, it's gone. They are investigating the problem, trawling through server logs. Not much hope, but I have to say I've gotten more activity on this petition than anything I've seen in the past. I'm not holding on to any hope of it being returned. Are you certain the inf is gone from the sender? I had something similar happen to me. Searched my email: nothing! However, when I logged back in to the original toon, the influence was still there.
I have also had all emails that WERE in my inbox with nice attachments expire too early. Those were recovered by a petition and some auxillary follow up information.
Good luck!
That is the last time I will send any attachment if there is even a hint of server problems, lagging, or other connection issues.
My guess is the game client sent the message but that it was never received by the server and that the crash and disconnect before the communication was complete means the email and attachment was lost in the ether. -
Quote:Actually, it seems that time has changed as all the servers are going down at about 11:30 pm eastern 8:30 pacific. Still not planning on holding my breath for the return of my missing infamy though. It Appears the Devs are aware of the issue.
It remains to be seen if any of our lost emails(and attached things) will reappear. -

I sent an email to myself with a huge amount of inf attached to it and I got lucky. I sent it just as the db server went down. The mail sent, I got DC'd. When I get back on, no email, gone, poof.
What do you think my chances are of getting that Inf back?
Or is that a stupid question? -
Quote:Hate to say it, but I've started creating characters on other servers when Virtue is down so that I no longer depend on it. It seems to be down often enough that I'm actually using other servers more.Strangely enough, I can log into any server EXCEPT Virtue, which is, of course, where all my characters are. *sighs* I've been fine all day, but logged off for dinner and now I can't get back.
Globals and email are totally gone, but WW was working when I left.
However, I still can't get on any of the servers so it makes little difference at this point. Time to go do something else for a while I guess... -
Can't connect to anything, all servers give me the same response "Lost Connection to DB Sever". Can't tell anyone that matters, all I can do is B*tch about it here.

For me it really depends on the type of character I'm playing. So far, the three I enjoy and have played enough to test are tanks, scrappers and defenders (and only an emp defender). I never target through another character with a tank or a scrapper, on the other hand, with an emp defender I am always targeting another and almost never target an enemy. I have a macro set up so that I can quickly click a button to target each teammate. Also, the only time I attack anything is when it appears I don't need to heal someone or use some other helpful power and then I attack through whatever teammate I happen to be targeting. Generally I'm kept fairly busy and don't get to do much attacking.

Quote:I'm sorry, I may have not explained that right. I'm not talking about the guy or gal that's training or decided to stop by Went's to unload. I was referring more to that guy or gal that clicks the door and takes forever to load the map. I have one friend that at times, especially when the server is busy, will take 5 minutes just to load the mission map. When we play together, usually just the two of us, I always let them click the map first and go get a drink or take a bio break so I wait a couple of minutes before entering myself. For me it's just being courteous. I understand the some people are in too much of a hurry to get that XP and get to the next level, I'm just not one of them. This one REALLY bugs me. If someone is taking a long time to get to the mission because they stopped to train/sell or are taking the senic route I feel very little desire to wait for them. As far as I'm concerned once there are enough people in the mission to start it in reasonable safety we should get going (this generally means 50%-75% of the team depending on size and composition).

The reason I ask. first off, I've been in the game just over 6 months and probably done thousands of missions but I still think of myself as a beginner and still learning. I enjoy playing solo and I also enjoy joining teams.
Someone mentioned PuGs, well, that's mostly what I end up on. Once in a while the leader of one of these will friend me and continue to invite me and these always do well. But it is not really a PuG, I was probably the only random person in the group with all the others chosen from that same list of friends.
I guess I was speaking specifically of PuGs in a way. I've noticed two things with PuGs.
1) If the leader does not set rules things either go really well or go horribly bad with near team wipe throughout the mission(s). There usually is not much in-between. Many times everyone knows what they should be doing, on the other hand, there are many times when it seems no one is even trying to work together.
2) If the leader of a PuG states some simple rules to anyone new that joins I rarely see these teams go south. While there may be one or two bad fights, as a general rule these teams are more fun to be on. I'm not talking about anything extensive, more like guidelines like:
a) Everyone follows X (whoever X may be, but a tank more often than not);
b) Everyone stays together (there are some exceptions, as mentioned by some that have replied)
c) We don't start a mission until everyone is on the map. I have to say, I rather like those that insist that everyone is there before we begin. I have a relatively fast computer and connection and am usually one of the first to get in. However, I know people that have slow computers and/or connections that are quite put off when they get in and find that the mission is nearly completed. (of course the exception is that if someone says it's okay to start without them.)
As far as how the missions go, I've recently started to notice this more. I have created my first Empath Defender. I didn't think I'd like it, but I'm having a blast with it. This is the main reason that I've started noticing the difference. I must say that it is so much easier to keep people on their feet when everyone stays in a group. As soon as people start splitting of into two or three different groups then my job becomes extremely difficult if not completely impossible.
To be honest, I've not had the opportunity to see a team where someone expected to not fight, and I hope I never do. I've never joined a team where the leader had to state outright that everyone needs to be in the fight. Seems like common sense to me.
As far as rules if I am running a team, I will generally hold off and see how it goes. If everything seems to be going well then I will let everyone roll. On the other hand if after the first battle or 3 it seems that things are going to get out of hand then I'll say.... "Ok, this isn't going well, from now on we will...." and give the sticking together/follow the tank rule or whatever seems to fit the circumstances. All it takes is one really bad mission and you find yourself alone again when it's over, if they stick around that long. -
I have some questions about what people think about something, so I guess this may be a poll.
My questions have to do with teams and setting rules.
1) Do you think that more team leaders should set some simple rules or would you find this offensive?
2) If you feel that the leader should set some rules, what should they be?
3) If you feel that it would be offensive for the leader to set rules, why? -
Quote:Thank You Kheldarn! I will be looking into this in more depth when I get home tonight. There is:
/bind <KEY> optiontoggle PromptTeleportFromTeammates
/macro <NAME> optiontoggle PromptTeleportFromTeammates
Quote:Are there options for the 'Useful Salvage' and 'Large Listing Fee' prompts? It doesn't look like those are getting fixed in the foreseeable future..
-
Hi,
did a search on this bu had no luck.
Is there a way, using a key bind or a macro, to turn on and off prompts?
Example, the prompt to allow teleport. Is there some way that I can disable or enable this without opening up the settings window every time. While I don't mind being TP'd most of the time there are situations where I might be in the middle of something, like placing an item on the market. Remembering to open the options window to enable it and then doing the same to disable it when I'm done is a pain in the butt.
Thanks -
And I was just going to say, I'm real glad they had Virtue down for maintenance. I was on a whole 15 minutes this afternoon before it crashed. So I guess the maintenance wasn't to fix any stability issues.
-
Thanks for the info all. I don't recall, but I may have used one of the V-Day buffs on a teammate during the stop Snaptooth mission. I remember purchasing them, but I don't remember what character I was playing at the time. This is about the only thing that makes sense though.
-
One of my characters is a Claws/SR Scrapper. Somehow, this character managed to get some credit toward a healing badge. The character has no healing abilities and I don't recall ever healing anyone. Can someone explain to me how I may have gotten the credit toward this badge?

<sarcasm>But it's not them, I have the emails from support to prove it. Must me my crappy computer and crappy internet connection. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that server. Any disconnects or lag must be on your end. Lets run a few more diagnostic programs to see what it is.</sarcasm>

Quote:Either way, quickness is not being applied. This is right.
This is not.
200/(1+0.2+0.7) = 200/1.9 = ~105 = 1 minute 45 seconds.
Remember that the enhancement screen numbers only taken enhancements into account; set bonuses and powers are not included.
And the actual recharge time is 1min 57sec as measured with a stopwatch. So the reduction is actually not being applied (even if it the actual time should not be displayed anywhere). Even without a stopwatch at 1:45 there would be 15 seconds where the power was doubled (appearing stacked in my buffs area) and not the 3 seconds that I am currently seeing. (I have practiced brawler set on auto) -
Yup, I came jsut now to post that my math was wrong, but I still think there is a bug.
To my surprise, you divide reductions and not multiply.
So if you have a 70% reduction to a recharge rate that has a base of 200 seconds
200 / 1.7 = ~117 = 1 minute 57 seconds.
This is what I am seeing so the enhancements are being applied correctly.
However, I should also be getting a 20% reduction for "Quickness". I'm not sure where this is supposed to be applied, but it seems that it is not. Since I was seeing ~90 seconds pre 17 then it would appear that the 20% was applied before the 70% (or after, doesn't matter) resulting in:
200 / 1.2 / 1.7 = ~98 = 1 minute 38 seconds. (This is very close to what I was seeing pre 17) So rather than a nerf it appears like another bug.
Also, as far as out leveling the enhancements, the character is level 31 and both SO's are 30++. The value of reduction actually shown for the enhancements is 35%. So this is not an issue of... duh. I forgot to get new enhancements.
My math seems to agree with je_saist's now.
