  1. What gets me is that these are the heroes who existed before there was a mediport system. It was almost as if the history of heroes in Paragon was ignored and for the comic and all of a sudden there is no death in Paragon City.

Thousands of heroes died in the Rikti war and heroes died in World War 2, and people died in the cold war nuclear incident involving Statesman over Finland. Currently, the Circle of Thorns and Council can snatch people off the teleport grids. If this wasn't a non perma-death MMO, that's guranteed death and it probably would be in a comic book.

I like some of the aspects, Manticore (almost like Batman meets the Flash attitude wise) , some of the other characterizations (Synaspe's self loathing in particular), but, well it seems to lack a bit of the spirit in the game, and that could be because the first arc seems rushed. Maybe things with settle down a bit after issue 3 and we can get a more of a feel of why these heroes are iconic. Some Rikti War stories would be nice...oooh especially done "Haunted Tank," "Blackhawk" or "Sgt. Rock" style.

Back on track, I like that there is lots of death in CoH that, if you're of a mind, missions arent' just win/lose. If the Devouring Earth or Malta are involved, it's guranteed that people are going to die if you don't do something.

I know Aracnos and Lord Recluse are going to have to figure prominently, but I am also looking forward to get the rest of CoH in its 4 color glory.

I like the art but the story doesn't make any sense.

There's a spell on the city that "suppresses super powers". It evidently doesn't do anything to the war walls (some pretty elite tech there), the guns wielded by the thugs, or cars. This means that it's very, very selective. And what about natural origin MA/SR scrappers who just know kung fu? Why would they be at anything less than full effectiveness? If guns work, why can't AR blasters just keep shooting? What about heroes whose powers are inextricably linked to their existence, like magical entities or androids like Bastadel (ok, they're probably just dead)? Why is Positron still generating anti-matter if that was his superpower?

Then we're told that 6 weeks later, the city is happy and peaceful and being cleaned up by "Arachnos drones". Life for the civilians is completely back to normal, but the only heroes in the city are hiding in fear of their lives. Super powers work everywhere else in the world but not in Paragon.

    What?

Exactly what kind of drugs are the government and the civilians smoking? If I lived in that city, I'd be RUNNING for the exits. There's an unknown spell on the city - does that affect my cancer treatments, my cell phone, or any of the reverse-engineered Ritki tech being integrated into commercial products? If I was the president, I would scrounge up whatever military I had left from the war and send it to secure the place and get everyone out. If I lived anywhere else in the world I would drop everything and figure out how to make sure what happened to Paragon doesn't happen to me next. Superpowers get suppressed, a bunch of people die, some Arachnos guy sends in robots to control the place...and it's business as usual?

    I don't buy it.

Yep, holes in that storyline you can drive a truck through.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep. To add to that list: Are the Kheldians affected since their abilities are natural? Shouldn't the Council be making moves all over the place? There's nothing like some real robot on robot action. (Tk automatons don't count).

Ugh, I just hate the "steal the powers" stories. It seems like everytime you want to get the heroes over a barrel someone steals their powers. It's been happening in XBooks for nearly 20 years and it's a mainstay in Powers. (Grrr, I just have bad memories of those plots...and a bad GURPS experience with a GM villian named "Hero Killer.")

Oh, and I aaaaalmost forgot: Can we nickname Manticore "Bat Arrow" now?

    1. SJ/SS have worked this way since launch and yet only now is it so much of a problem that it had to be fixed.

    2. Disciplines were given nearly double duration because of the problems squishes had with mez, but only NOW are they being replaced with break frees that have a substantially lower duration which has the curious effect of making mez effects viable in PvP.

    3. MoG and Elude getting changed although many regens and SR players don't respec out of all their other powers, unlike Unstoppable, but DO take on all comers in PvP.

    1. Actually, we've tweaked SS in the past; the issues with SJ have slowly evolved over time.

    2. Disciplines haven't been around all that long; we've changed the way they work and their duration in response to player feedback - in PvE AND PvP. The "Break Free" changes started before the Arena was even implemented (internally, at least).

    3. I think I explained the issues with perma-powers in the explanations. I've mentioned my concern about them for quite some time.

Is PvP a consideration? Sure. Is it THE consideration? No. Each of your points were primarily PvE issues.

So does this mean permahasten is due for the next change?
  4. Has the rollback happened yet? I've been checking the patch notes and saw no mention of it.
  5. I really really hope this coincides with the release of issue 2. I understand it may not, but darn it. I want my cape so i can make my movie.
  6. Does anybody have any idea what Virtue's population is like. I'm working on a super reporter and would like lots of people to potentially interact. I'm looking for a combination of RP minded ness as well as population.

What do you guys think of the status of Virture so far.
