I have been tossing around the idea of making an MA Arc with the Staff as a central part of it. Not the Sig Characters like Posi, BAB, and such; but the regular Staff like JLove, Mod08, Ex Libris, Cuppajoe, Cricket, Niviene, etc. I have pics of a few of them to work with, but no builds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can check out my (mostly humorous) 5th Anniversary MA Storyarc. It features a number of community reps, with looks and builds as close as I could duplicate them from their in-game appearances.
  2. Updates:

Chose different powersets for certain custom mobs, to hopefully tone them down a bit for lowbies.

Redesigned a couple of the custom mobs based on feedback.

Tweaked dialogue, reduced number of unnecessary objectives.

what is speech recognition and handwriting recognition?

    [/ QUOTE ]

They're what they sound like. They allow computers that are made for it to recognize speech or handwriting for input.

    [ QUOTE ]
and how do i remove it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Follow the directions that Julio Thomas gave in this thread earlier. He only mentioned one of the two, but they're both where he says.

    [ QUOTE ]
also, do i need those for something?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I don't know; do you?

(Do you use speech or handwriting recognition on your computer?)

Tonight's leadoff mission was going to be "standing within the mists" but it hasn't popped up on CoHMR yet. Maybe tomorrow.

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, I saw that CoHMR additions were slowed down for the weekend due to real life stuff.

I should note that, according to one feedback I received, my "Boss" is an EB higher difficulty levels. I had marked the mission as no EB/AVs not knowing that it would upgrade the boss mobs. I didn't want to change & republish since I had already submitted it under that arc number.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Republishing an arc doesn't change its arc number. Just make sure you don't "Unpublish" it. But you can edit and then "Republish" to keep your number and your ratings.

EDIT: Also, bosses don't get "upgraded" to EBs. If a mob was an EB in your arc, then that's simply what they were. Now, on lower difficulty settings, a custom EB will downgrade to a boss, but a normal boss will NOT "upgrade" to an EB.
  5. Thanks for the feedback and the good rating. It's appreciated.

I'm planning on revamping the custom mobs, based on your feedback and that of someone else as well. They *are* a bit too powerful for the lower levels, and part of the reason for that is they were originally intended for a much higher level arc. I thought I'd toned them down enough, but obviously I was mistaken. Hopefully we'll see some tweaks to the "custom" setting for custom mobs in Issue 15 (the way it is right now on Test won't help matters any, but I'm hopeful). One way or another, they'll be getting nerfed fairly soon.

I'll spruce up the dialogue and rethink the number of glowies, as well.

    Thanks again!

At this point I realized that. I'm just wondering what the reason is. I'll just give the box to my roommate or little brother(if he wants it). This isn't a big deal, I'm just curious.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It'd be nice if it *did* work this way, especially when you can find various CoH & CoV editions at Big Lots for $10 or less...

    MA Arc Ideas?

    [ QUOTE ]
Have a story arc where you are a game dev burned out so you design a "new, novel, unique" TF in a cave with 5th Column...wait nvm that is being done now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bonus points if you choose to ignore as many established aspects of the canon as possible!
  9. I see it, too, but it looks buggy to me. I'm not sure what changed, but I doubt they'd mean it to look like *that.*
  10. I had that error, but it would eventually let me on if I kept trying. There is a solution that seems to have gotten rid of the error for me in this thread.
  11. Removing Speech Recognition didn't do the trick, but I also removed Handwriting Recognition (which I'd read caused problems with Office 2003 too), and the error's gone now. Thanks!

Do you have Office installed on your PC?

Every time I ever had that particular error pop up, it was a conflict between Office and something else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Office Home & Student 2007, yep. Hmmm...

The MA Souvenirs are stored in a plaintext file in your CoH folder. can't recall which one right off the top of my head, but 'backing it up' is as simple as copying it to another file periodically.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The file is PlayerCreatedSouvenirClues.txt, and it's in your main CoH folder.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Anyone seen this before? I just started getting this tonight just by trying to go through the COHUpdater startup (clicked on Next twice, then got the error). Text follows:

    Window box title:
    CiceroUIWndFrame: CohUpdater.exe - Application Error

    Box msg:

The instruction at "0x74736c57" referenced memory at "0x5c2c3b7c". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debuf the program

Haven't seen this error window come up before, so wanted to post it here. I was last on Test this Sunday, and that was fine for access.

    Thoughts?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm getting the exact same thing, since the latest patch. I can usually get on the Test Server, but it sometimes takes two or three tries (and I get the above error message even when it lets me on).

Windows XP PC here, if that matters.
  15. I've read that opening up your souvenir window every so often (maybe once per play session, or once per storyarc?) will keep your souvenirs from being deleted. It seems to work for me, but backing them up is probably a good idea, even if you have a really good memory and remember to open the window everytime.
  16. IIRC, Paragon Studios is licensing the game engine from Cryptic, and part of the deal when PS bought the franchise was that the Cryptic logo would remain. I'll see if I can find official documentation of that.
  17. I'm getting the memory reference error (posted about it here, but I can still get on the Test Server. Sometimes I have to launch the updater 3 or 4 times, and sometimes it works after just the first time, but I get that error every time regardless.

And yours is one of the few DC arcs that deserve the place. Most of them are pretty terrible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really appreciate that. I don't agree that most DC arcs are "terrible," but I appreciate you complimenting mine. Usually when I hear "DC arcs suck" and the like, part of me thinks people are talking about mine since I see so many flaws with it.

I think it still has 19 play runs on Test actually.

[/ QUOTE ] The Live AE was copied to Test recently..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just to Training 2. Training 1 still has the old DB.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is that what happened? According to Avatea here , the MA arc database copy didn't happen at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

All I know is that on Training 1, I'm able to see the old Test arcs, instead of the newer ones. Now, I'm trying to login to Test again to verify, but I'm getting an odd CiceroUIWndFrame error...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just checked Test 2 and it still has the Test Server arcs too. Like I said, the MA arc copy from Live to Test did NOT happen as planned. Both Test Servers still have the original Test Server arc database.

    Recognized Badge

    [ QUOTE ]
The problem is that a lot of those badges were partially based on luck more than anything.

The only way you could've got a dev choice badge was to be part of the voting cartels so your arc stayed near the top all the time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's hilarious. My Dev Choice arc, published towards the end of Open Beta (I wasn't in Closed Beta), had very, very few plays on Test before Pohsyb gave it the DC and of course it got transferred over to Live with Issue 14. Even with the DC it has less than 30 plays on Test. No voting cartel was involved in my case, just like probably most of the DCs.

    no debt

    [ QUOTE ]
There is no debt in MA missions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where in the world did you hear that?

There's no debt while TESTING a MA arc, but in published MA arcs there is indeed debt.

knew i could count on Aett to bring a sarcastic comment in first thing. "just ignore him"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Aett was being far from sarcastic. As always, he was being very helpful and told you exactly how to solve your problem.

Also, what kind of missions does a level 16 have that you'd "need" Shivans?
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Apologies to all the people i "zero" starred. I didn't realize that that rating actually counted.

I usually "zero" star (don't vote) for a mission that I didn't play all the way through or quit or stopped or decided I didn't want to do it. Weird. I'll try and be a little more conscious of that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, as has been pointed out several times in this thread, not voting for an arc does NOT "zero star" it. The person who said it did has been corrected several times.
