What would probably work better would be to just lower the inf/prestige exchange rate. This would have some people that previously would not have purchased prestige consider it.
Not like the game has any major inf sinks as it is. -
I could go with it. To me I would view it as more of a QOL change, not a buff. It just makes the one AT that specializes in not beeing seen, able to not be seen at a long distance when attacking. That was one of the things I loved about my /dark scrapper. If 2 spawns were close to each other, I would not have to worry about having to try and pull one away from the other.
I really don't think adding that to all stalkers would break anything. -
Normally 1/100 but I think during invasion, there is a Murphy factor that bumps it up to 1/3
-
Sets that are pretty solid on their own can really benifit from purple sets. SR for example is pretty easy to soft cap. Once there you can stack additional recharge and get a tighter attack chain.
Other sets like say fire armor are somewhat squishie. While the high recharge is nice to get your heal up as fast as possible, in most cases you are better off stacking some defense so you don't have to use the heal as often. Farming builds are another story.
Regen is another that does well with massive recharge but again adding defense in most cases is just as good since you don't have to heal as often.
Widdows and Forts are ones that really benifit from high recharge. Make mind link perma and you are golden. They also benifit because they have the option for ranged, melee, aoe and targeted aoe in each build. Forts can add hold, stun and confuse to the list as well. -
I heard that mobs will get to use the fitness pool as well but they will also have to respec. I heard from some people that were in closed beta, that I cannot name, that alot of times mobs would just be sitting there letting you pound on them and getting killed while they were doing their respec.
This bug alone will set back I19 another 3 weeks so dont look for it anytime soon. -
Quote:IMO this part is actually a better example BillzWhat they should have done, and it would be a half measure as well, in my estimation, is simply raise the global recovery rate. That is, EVERYONE would recover endurance faster. Those with Stamina at L20 would recover it EVEN FASTER than that, perhaps to the point of not needing to worry about endurance unless faced with sappers or very long fights.
It hasn't gone live yet, but I hope they'll reconsider this. -
Quote:An exaggeration is a lie btw. Example, "I caught a 2 foot long trout that weighed 12 pounds." But if the fish in question was 1'10" and weighed 11lb 14oz and the person making the statement knew this information, they are deliberately presenting false information. Now if they said about 2 feet and almost 12 pounds it would not be a lie.I will say I have a tendency to exaggerate sometimes, and I have been wrong on occasion. However, I never lie or deliberately present false information.
Sure it may not be a "big" lie but rather a slight exaggeration. That does not change the fact that it is still a lie.
By admitting you exaggerate then stating you never lie you just lied. -
Quote:Finally a reasonable objection.I realize this won't be a popular reply but....
A few years ago when I first stated playing this excellent game I found it to be a fun challenge.
Then the AE came along as well as the invention system. The auction houses got added. The game didn't change in response to our increase in power. Basically our characters were given training wheels in the game. Fun to use training wheels, but training wheels nonetheless.
Now with Fitness becoming automatic and nearly every character getting three more power slots to add on because of it we are getting training wheels for our training wheels.
As it is now a trained monkey can get to 50th level in 2 days playing the game. Do we really need it to be even simpler?
This is not to say that we aren't having fun....but seriously? When do we become so coddled by the game that our playing ability starts to be insulted? Do we really need to have our hands held even more than they are? -
So by your logic then, do scrappers and brutes need to have thier EPS lowered on their toggles because they are not as effective as the tanker version of the same thing?
Should Disruption field and Dispersion buble cost more for each person it protects since it offering more protection on a team compared to solo?
Should each extra point of damage caused by debuffs also cost additional endurance to the person that caused the debuff since you seem to want to move to a Endurance / damage model? -
Quote:Even a broken clock is right twice a day. It's funny, you know. If my "past crusades" were so off target, why did so many of them result in changes and additions to the game?
I said Defenders needed help with damage output (and was vigorously flamed for saying so).
Defenders recieved a boost to damage output.
I suggested street sweeping should generate missions (there was little resistance to this idea)
We now have Tip missions.
I (and others) argued Invulnerability needed a revamp (and was vigorously flamed for saying so).
They modified the Invulnerability autopowers.
I (and others) suggested allowing weapon customization (and was vigorously flamed for doing so).
We got weapon customization.
I (and others) suggested power customization (and was vigorously flamed for doing so).
We got new animations and colour customization.
I suggested Secret IDs (and was vigorously flamed for doing so).
We got Day Jobs (not quite what I was after).
I suggested getting rid of the Rep system on the Forums (and was vigorously flamed for doing so).
It's gone.
I could go on.
Of course, some things I've suggested haven't appeared yet, but one never knows. -
The other issue you were having on a new toon sounds like ambush aggro. Even with a stalker that is hidden, ambush mobs always know where you are. Until the devs can figure out another way for ambushes to be smarter, that is how they will work.

Quote:Just because people complain about something does not mean it needs to be fixed. My sister-in-law for example complains that she never has enough money. She does not have a job, she collects money from the state for "disability" because she was able to convince a doctor she is bi-polar. It did take her 3 tries with 3 different doctors until she finally figured out the answers to the questions the Dr was looking for to make the diagnosis. She has not made any effort in the last 6 years to even apply for a job because she claims it gives her a panic attack. All she should get is enough to keep her from starving and a enough to keep a roof over her head. Yet she still complains about never having enough money. To me (and hopefully the majority of others), that is not a problem that needs to be fixed by others just because she is complaining about it.Wow, you actually invoked Godwin's Law? Not much I can say to that.
I may indeed be one of a minority that has a problem with the current endurance mechanic. However, many years of many people complaining about it suggests otherwise.
Either way, the tools you mention don't make things very much better.
I can and do play without running out of endurance. That's not the problem. The problem is that I spend far more time and energy trying to avoid running out of endurance than I do actually ejoying the game by fighting the enemy. Worse, different characters have more and less trouble, depending on the AT and power choices. Anyone can take drastic measures to reduce endurance use, but the problem is that doing so undermines the enjoyment of the game, at least for me, and likely for others.
You have still made no attempt to say what the issue is other than vague complaints about end use. What specific set has a problem? What AT is underperforming due to excessive endurance use? -
Oh that is even better than my Rad/Dark suggestion. Arctic air, shiver, ice slick and glacier all have no damage. Jack frost is toeing the line since he does the damage and not you. And even doing no damage you would still remain busy by debuffing and with CCs. Just about any secondary would be good to pair with Ice. Just stay away from the stuff that does damage and you are set. Sure it may not fall under the technical term pacifist, but that would be a very effective toon without ever causing damage to anyone. Granted they would be even more effective if they did cause damage but that is not what you are shooting for.
-
You are one of the very few that think there is a "real problem" to begin with.
For just about everyone else, the tools in the game are just fine to handle endurance use. I had a spine/dark scrapper before IOs with acrobatics and cloak of fear that managed to do alright. And this was in the day before we knew how much endurance we were actually using.
Just because you have played the game for a long time does not mean you know anything. And just because you have worked in game design does not mean you understand every single game out there or even just this game.
I have a friend that has been around since beta and he is probably one of the worst people to have on a team. At least as far as what he contributes to finishing missions and such. He seems to dump in enhancements at random, is always out of endurance and constantly dying. However, he is entertaining and fun to talk to so most people don't mind. At least he understands that he is just having fun, and never really put any effort into making builds. He also does not blame the game or think there is a problem just because he has issues with endurance.
There were some around WWII that had the opinion that Hitler was doing great things. Just because you have an opinion does not mean that you are correct or that others should bother to listen to you. Not saying you are like Hitler, just using an extreme exampe to show that facts are more usefull than opinions. And so far you have provided no facts to back up your assesment of late game end use problems. -
They have magic shoes that they cannot take off that make them run faster and jump higher than most regular people. The shoes help to amplify the wizards natural ability which is not that great into something more spectacular. There RP problem sovled.

Try not waiting around for someone else to start a TF and use global channels to advertise that you are starting a TF. Most days or even most nights you can fill an ITF and/or a LGTF pretty quick unless you are on a low population server. If you are, well that is your own fault unless you are new since we just had the choice to switch servers for free a couple times recently.

Quote:The issue here is that you see a problem and the majority of others do not. Just because one person thinks there is a problem does not mean that it is true.I agree, it does do some good things. Having three more power slots, especially at lower level, will be nice. Actually having Stamina at lower level will be nice. It just doesn't fix what I see as the actual problem, and it creates some new ones (albeit rather minor ones...).
Example. Joe thinks that it is a problem that his blaster is so squishie and thinks he should be albe to have a tanker primary as his secondary with the tanker modifiers. Most others think that is a bad idea. -
Quote:The sets are balanced for endurance use. Both the blaster and the defender sets have the same power, the same endurance use. The difference is the damage modifier for the AT. There has never been and probably never will be a DPE balance between the different ATs. While a blaster mostly does just damage, a defender can use less endurance and end up causing the whole team to do much higher damage as a result. In effect the damage that the defender caused with his/her buffs and debuffs per unit of endurance, on teams, can end up being much higher than a blasters DPE.Well, I'm back after another hiatus, and I return to find that the Fitness pool is going to be made inherent.
Now, I'm sure my usual detractors will think me delighted with this, but I'm afraid I'm not. I'll explain why.
As I've said elsewhere, Endurance management is far too onerous. It undermines the enjoyment of the game. It's most noticeable at lower level, prior to Stamina, but it doesn't exist ONLY there. Part of the reason for this is that the ATs and Power Sets are not balanced for endurance use. As an example, consider the Defender and Blaster power sets for Energy Blast. The Defender version does less damage, but uses the same endurance. Certain ATs suffer more than others for this (eg. Tankers and Defenders).
Quote:First, it does nothing for characters that have Stamina anyway. That is, higher level characters that suffer endurance issues despite Stamina will see no difference in their play.
Quote:Second, it does nothing to address the disparity between ATs and Power Sets.
Quote:Third, it forces Hurdle and Swift on people. Since these are Autopowers, we can't turn them off, even if they're inappropriate to our character concepts.
Quote:All this does is help lower level characters with endurance issues. As I say, it's a laudable goal, but it's not the right way to go about it. What they should have done, and it would be a half measure as well, in my estimation, is simply raise the global recovery rate. That is, EVERYONE would recover endurance faster. Those with Stamina at L20 would recover it EVEN FASTER than that, perhaps to the point of not needing to worry about endurance unless faced with sappers or very long fights. -
Was thinking Rad/Dark defender. Rad will at least keep you busy since most teams seem to think if something is glowing, kill it first. Once you get your speed up lingering radiation is up at the begining of each spawn. Dark also is the only defender secondary that has a stun attack with no damage. Handy to stack with oppressive gloom to stun bosses.
Although the taunt bot sounds interesting too. Would say invuln or WP/stone. Fault is much better than handclap or lightning clap. Either that or /ice for ice patch. -
Quote:If it is the same brute on a different map all that tells us is what map gives better inf/min with that brute. It tells us nothing about the brute itself.I can't understand the desire to be able to say to the next person who asks "best aoe?" -- "well technically this brute has the best Inf/minute, but you have to reload the map every 4 minutes. So, it's not really the best inf/minute, but technically, it is the best."

Quote:If you are trying to figure out what farm is best for you then yes, count your own load times when making your calculations. However when trying to determine what build does the most damage using load times throws off the number. So what if person A has a great computer and his load time is 10 seconds and player B has a crap computer and his load time is 2 min?So Person A runs a 3 minutes AE and gets 900k while inside the mission. Then he exits the mission, picks the mission again from the AE computer, and re-enters. The loading out, picking new, and loading in takes 1 minute. That's 3 minutes of 900k and 1 minute of 0k.
Overall = 675k.
Player B runs a 15 minute mission and gets 750k while inside the mission. The he exits the mission, resets, and reloads. If the load time is the same that's 15 minutes of 700k, 1 minute of 0k.
Overall = 703k.
When comparing 2 different sets with 2 different people, all other variables should be removed. -
Quote:You first stated you got max tickets in 5 min. Then when somone posted a better time you said it was done in half the time. So either the 5 min time was a lie or the 2:30 min time was a lie.Hmm.. if that's one for me then you are the one that has your head so far up your ss/fire that you can't see anything for what it is. I also take that as an insult and will report you for trolling.
And if not then have a nice day.
This shows a history of lying. -
Quote:So person A has a crappy graphics card and a slow computer but can kill lots of stuff much faster than person B. But person B has a super fast computer with great connection and makes more per min overall only because of the faster load times.Don't stay in the same mission. Do your run, exit the mission, restart. Include the load times in the process.
So who has the better build?
If load times were static then sure, include them. Since they are not you should only use the time from the door right before you move to the time the mish is over and you can either click on exit or get back to the door if you are going to reset. -
Quote:There is also no reason to pvp to get a recipie either. You could try to defeat others but if you are not any good and it is a bit challenging, why bother. I think Ill just solo for a few weeks.Well, the statesman and recluse TF's are pretty difficult. Not hamidon difficult, but still challenging.
What I'm saying is that with the states and recluse TF giving HO's now, and then adding them to the A-merit vendor, then there would be zero reason at all for ever needing to do the Hami Raid. You could get an HO it solo, but it would take a while. You could run a TF, but it's a bit challenging. but a Hami raid? That's too difficult, I think I'll just solo for a few weeks.
Hamidon has lost a lot of popularity. At least let him keep some semblance of reward for defeating him.
Yet you can buy pvp recipies with A merits and purples. It is not like HOs are that much better that there can only be 2 ways of getting them. -
If it does go F2P, all I ask is for the following.
1. That I can still pay my 15 bucks a month to get my CoX fix.
2. Everything continues on like normal otherwise for those paying the sub fee. New issues, new content, that kind of thing.
3. Make all the F2P heroes start in Galaxy City and have to purchase access to Atlas.
4. A new starter zone for Villians given the same treatment.
5. If those cannot be done, at least allow me to ignore all F2P players or at the very least tripple the size of my ignore list.
