Wow that base pic is amazing. I can see how you would do most of it, but may have to puzzle out a few sections. I am assuming the pic has been tweeked a little though, as there is reflection on the water, and as far as I know there is no way to recreate it in game. If there is though I'd love to know how as I have a swimming pool in our base.

I have missed a lot of the info re. I13 (I don't like to spoil the surprise :P), but I was wondering if anyone had heard if I13 would bring anything to bases other than a recosting of rooms and items etc.

Congratulations Assistent! Great work
I would've felt guilty if game time was awarded! I think we've already cost you a lot during the MiniCon
(PS- Altough a custom forum name would've been fantastic! *winkwinknudgenudgesaynomoresaynomore*)

What? You mean something like... Chancer?
:P

I'm gonna nominate Mystie for his efforts as displayed here. A lot of work went into it and it really turned out well.

CoX is like Neighbours - its generally a friendly place, but don't look too closely for plot holes.

Are we nearly there yet?

Does anyone know of any base planners out there, as editing a base live can be a tricky thing and causes a load of hastle if it goes wrong. Something that took into account prestige needed, size of plot, size of objects to be placed inside etc.
If one doesn't exist, is there anyone clever out there who fancies designing one? -
Deal. Shall we take it as agreed unless a red name says otherwise in the next 3 days?
-
That works for me, especially since i didn't get nominated. If it helps I'll not take up the forum title, just so long as i get the free game time
-
I'm with Infinitron. I know things must be busy for Bridger and crew, but the forum rules say that the nomination thread will be posted in the first week of each month (presumably so people can remeber what threads were posted in which month), and will be open for one week. This thread was started in the third week of the month and has now been open for over a month. We should be announcing July's winner by now rather than waiting to hear who won in June. Even if things are stupidly busy, it surely can't take long to lock a thread, make a decission, and open a new nomination thread for Jly.

Actually any help at all with the in game demo record would be useful, as I have never used it before.
-
H guys, was hoping you could help me. What's the easiest/best way to turn a demorecord into a viewable vid you can post for others?

Looking back at June, I may be wrong, but it seems that Pious' Acting Avatars, and my own Rocky Horror Hero Show were the only two new creative things posted in June, with everything else being a continuation of existing threads.
If it is in fact a two-horse race, I'd be willing to accept a joint-award, as both pieces of work are wildly different to each other, and trying to compare one against the other has got to be a rather trying task, seeing how there's bother-all similarity between the two.

There were definately more than two new creative topics in June. But it was a nice try... -

And one emp/ice defender in too ...
So who is going to give the damage?

Well with 2 kins in there I'd say the more tanks and scrappers you can get the better, and a generous helping of those little fire imps would be very useful too, as pets can be a big help on the TF. I'd offer my scrapper but I'll be away on holiday. -
There was a young empath called Healing,
Who's figure most found quite appealing,
When death was close by,
In she would fly,
And her team's health would go through the ceiling.
(until they nerfed it :P) -
Thanks for all the kind feedback all. It was fun to put this together and I am glad it was well received, as I wasn't too sure how anything political related would go down.
I did think about going for a Bertie Ahern version after Kilop's suggestion, but it seemed more sensible to leave it largely because he doesn't have as big a global profile and so I don't think the parody would work as well here. It is the same reason why I opted not to pick out some of Northern Ireland's politicians (where I am from) as while they offer no end of useful material, they just aren't well enough known for the joke to work here.
I also take Mesthesi's point about WMD. Originally this (well a variation on it) was going ot be part of Tony's power set, but I opted to leave it out and instead use it as part of a villainous version of the hero guides. However, I haven't written these yet as the current back drop of the Iraq war and the recent terror raids it hasn't really seemed approriate given that I am sure there are some here who have been affected very directly by events relating to Iraq, Afghanistan etc. Maybe if things calm down I may follow this up and actually put something here, or else I may take it as part of 'Villains of History' series, not too sure how it will work out yet.
It does open up an alternative spin on this thread though;
Who would you all time political hero team be, and what would each members signiture power be? What would your team be called?
The same also works for a Villainous version. -

Ok this is in the same vein as before:
George Bushs Guide to being a Political (Super Power) Super Hero
Name : George W. Bush
Character AT: Blaster (Remember; the best form of defence is attack)
Primary Power Set: All American Hero
1. Foreign Bases: Whether by economic negotiation or by military might, a foothold on foreign soil can be very helpful in ensuring a swift response to each and every situation. Damage: Minor, Recharge: Fast
2. Space Race: When your country has no history (At least by global standards), the future is all you can look to. And if in reaching for the stars you happen to uncover one or two military advantages, well so be it Damage: Moderate, Recharge: Slowing down due to lack of funding and competition
3. Automated Targeting: Technology is increasingly becoming the deciding factor in the winning of conflicts. At present US technology means that when you press the trigger you are guaranteed to hit anything that moves, including your allies. Damage: High, Recharge: Varies depending on how many internal investigations are going on at the time
4. Alpha Strike: (Pre-emptive Strike) Most heroes work well in a team, using the strengths of each member to the advantage of the group, and so it is common practice in good teams to send in a tanker to absorb the Alpha Strike of your foes. As the Worlds Greatest Super Power however, there are a number of times when you just have to go solo, and on those occasions there is only one way to deal with a foes alpha strike ensure that you get in there first. Damage: High, Recharge: Slow
5. Star Wars (SDI) Defence Program: (Aim) The idea was to build a defence grid in space that would stop a nuclear missile attack, but it didnt work, but a nice off shot was a great spy satellite network that means you can see pretty much anything you need to around the world. Now, in a twist truely worthy of Star Wars (film this time), the son seeks to complete the work his father started Damage: None of itself since it doesnt do what its supposed to, but its secondary affects are a nice bonus, Recharge: At present, once every generation
6. Black Ops: (Sniper Attack) Sometimes you just cant afford to be seen doing what needs to be done. For occasions such as these there are million dollar hammers, ash trays and even pens. Some how in buying those items revolutions and assassinations mysteriously happen against your enemies. Damage: Extreme, Recharge: Varies according to Congressional Over-Sight Committees.
7. Mass Production: (Boost to recharge/replenishment) What Henry Ford brought to the car industry, America has brought to its military. The result is the worlds greatest military strength. Meaning you can attack again, and again and Damage: None but reduces recharge for all other powers, Recharge: Due to a bug in Resources (see secondary power set), this power is always active
8. Peace Keeping Force: Its not good publicity to always be seen as the aggressor. Therefore, some times you need to be seen as the peace maker. If you should choose to do that with a large military presence, well, whatever it takes Damage: Varies according to how much oil is in the country you occupy and how much the rest of the world cares about its residents, Recharge: Short
9. Def Con 1: (Nova) Han Solo once said; Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side and in Americas case he was right. What he clearly hadnt taken into account though was this powers secondary effect, the end of the world as we know it. Damage: Total, Recharge: Well, you only get to do it once.
Secondary Power Set: Global Supremacy
1. Environmental Measures: (Disorientate, -Perception, -Defence) Forget the Kyoto Protocol, smog can have its benefits. It can distract your citizens from dealing with national issues as they seek to resolve local ones and it means that other nations have to reduce their power usage to counteract your over usage. Damage: Increasing, Acceptability: Low
2. Resources: (Build Up) This is a bugged power that has still to be rectified. Build Up powers are supposed to be temporary affects that has a recharge or cool down period after use. For some reason the American version of this power has become a permanent effect, with no noticeable cool down period. The result is that almost 2/3 of the worlds resources are to consumed by America. Damage: None, but the bugged nature of the power seems to be slowly lowering everyones HP. Acceptability: High (In America), well it would be, they have it all.
3. Situation Room: (Power boost to secondary effects) Bolster your own short comings by surrounding you with the best aides your country has to offer. However, the political infighting often means that while this power tends to greatly boost all secondary effects, it is usually at the expense of the primary objective. Damage: Special, Acceptability: Medium.
4. Trade Embargo: (Slow) As the Worlds largest importer and second largest exporter, the directed use of high explosive isnt the only way to get nations to comply with what you want them to do. Damage: Minor, Acceptability: High (Well you are less likely to get killed this way)
5. Hollywood: (Mez) It has previously been stated that history is written by the victor. Since America hasnt been in existence for most of history, they have instead had to rely on Hollywood films to rewrite history after the victors had written it, thus showing that every major world event was made right by the US of A. Damage: Moderate (DoT), Acceptability: High (As in most cases the original victors are no longer around to take issue with the new version)
6. Britain (Pet) Sometimes the constant cycle of conflict can take its toll on your citizens. Therefore it can be useful to have someone to lead the charge for you. Damage: Depends on the pet, during the 40s you had a bull dog to work with, but more recently its been a poodle. Acceptability: High
7. Land of Opportunity: (Special + bonus to inf) As one of the worlds leading arms manufacturers, you can always guarantee to be in business. If you supply both sides of the fight, they both pay you. Damage: Moderate (DoT), Acceptability: Reducing
8. American Dream: (Confuse) When you have what they want its not too hard to buy your enemy over. Damage: High (DoT), Acceptability: Moderate (Would be higher, but these things are usually done on the quiet)
9. Elvis (Self Res) The truly great never die. They just take sustained leaves of absence.
(Uh Thank You Very Much) -
A George Bush Version?
Ummm now there is a possibility there. -
Ok this is not meant to be serious in anyway, though if you are a Tony Blair supporter you may not appreciate all of it. But really it could be said of any politician. Please take it in the spirit intended and not let this degenerate into a political conflict. Thank you.
Since Tony has now reached the 10 year mark and this week will officially end his term as Prime Minister, I thought I would write this to take a (not very serious) look at how he has managed to make it this far.
Character Name : Anthony Blair
Character AT : Tank (well in his job you have to know how to take the hits as well as deal the damage)
Primary Power Set - Political Survival
1. Red Tape - Shield - buries attacks in a mass of beaurocracy ensuring that as few as possible ever get through. Success Rate - high, Acceptability - High (If a job is worth doing it is worth having a corresponding form, in triplicate, requiring 2 pieces of specific ID, a utility bill, supporting documentation, a five tier approval system and of course an appeals process).
2. Spin - Shield - manages to turn even the fiercest attack around and instead use it to cause damage to foes. Has bewilderment as a secondary effect. Success Rate - High, Acceptability - Medium (actually the acceptability rate is also high, but you don't want to rub it that the people who vote for you are idiots).
3. It Wasn't Me - Heal - well sort of - you drain health from your surrounding allies effectively meaning that they take the hit instead of you. This may result in the death of some of your allies. Success Rate - Medium, Acceptability - Extreme (well except amongst your allies).
4. Cronyism - Shield - You surround yourself by a haze of unknown, yet none the less powerful allies. They offer a range of buffs and all without asking anything in return (or so they say). This power has a built in taunt. Success Rate - Variable - this is based on a sliding scale depending on success at recent local elections, Acceptability Low.
5. Political Advisors - Mez Protection - Ensure that you are not slowed down by reality by surrounding yourself with these yes men. Success Rate - Guaranteed, Acceptability - Well that depends on how good your own advisors are.
6. America - Shield - There is no problem too big with the world's largest nuclear arsenal at your side. This power has fear as a secondary effect. Success Rate - worked out as a multiple of the number of missiles in America's possession, Acceptability Diminishing.
7. Waiting Lists - Debt Protection - Keep yourself looking debt free by keeping it as long as possible before your debt is officially recorded. Success Rate - Moderate, Acceptability - Moderate (so long as you are not the one waiting to get on the list).
8. Majority Government - shield With a big enough party you can by pass those annoying things that get in your way like democracy. Success Rate - Extreme (unless it gets passed to the House of Lords), Acceptability - High (well people did vote them in).
9. 'Hand Of History' MoG effect 'History is written by the victor', of course that only works if you are the last man standing. Success Rate - Special, Acceptability - Low (Unless you are Tony Blair)
Secondary Power Set - Media Control
1. Leaked Memo Ranged Attack A personal attack using the political back channels, thus ensuring it always appears that you were never anywhere near it. Damage Low, Acceptability - Expected
2. Mass Media Mez Attack Keep the people confused by having the media say what you want the news to be. Damage - Medium, Acceptability Medium.
3. Peerages Pets Leaders in industry come running to your aid for a price. Damage Medium, Acceptability - Low
4. Repetition Mez Attack - If you say it often enough it must be true. Success Rate Diminishing, Acceptability - Low
5. Internal Inquiry build up Achieves nothing on its on but can be very helpful if teamed with the right attack. Damage None, Acceptability - Low
6. Misdirection Taunt Well a reverse taunt really If the mob is angry, make sure they are angry at someone else. Damage None, Acceptability High.
7. Apathy Sleep - Keep the mobs at bay with this sleep inducing attack. Damage - Moderate, Acceptability Whatever you say
8. Devolved Government If the enemy of my enemy is my friend, then make sure your enemies never meet. Damage High, Acceptability Good (In England, Wales, Scotland and (now) Northern Ireland).
9. Celebrity In a society where people are more likely to vote on who will be the next Pop Idol than vote in the next election, there is only one way to survive Damage - Extreme, Acceptability Dial that number now -
I have just spent the last 2 hours fixing a problem in our sg base after I tried to upgrade our control to the autonomous system. The problem was that the new sytem was too large to fit in our control room (3x3), but there was no way to know that until we had enough prestige to place it, and to get that I had to sell our old control stuff. Trying to get it to fit then wasn't working so I had to spend my time trying to put things back together. So out of this come a couple of suggestions.
1. Better descriptions on large items, so that there is a way to know how many tiles they take up.
2. If a base item has a pre-requisite like a certain room size or type, then this should be in the item info.
3. That there be a base roll back option so that if it does go wrong you can undo the last set of changes without spending two hours doing it all from scratch again. Maybe it could be that you would set a marker when you begin editing and you can choose to roll back to that at the end of your editing session or even if you dc while base editing (which happened to me twice tonight). -
Thanks for the feedback guys, and I'm glad I have inspireed you. This is my first time entering anything here and its nice to get kind feedback, it has kind of encouraged me to develop the idea further, when I next get some time free.

I recently downlaoded GIMP 2 and thought I would play around with it a little to see what it can do. This was the first thing I created using it.

Congratz Hawk! Its been great teaming with you and was even better to be there for the event itself. I'm looking forward to helping your PB become your next 50
