I think that Manticore is just actually turning evil....working with Lord Recluse or something.
The Wyvern has probably been established for quite some time now...

yeah, he walks off with the tarantulas at the end, so it looks like he's with them...
I wonder if that will carry over into the game... -

You have to do 4 missions.........two with your contact (with a villain) then two with their contact.......with you.
Unless you did that and still didnt get it.
[/ QUOTE ]
actually, you only have to do three missions to get the badge. the first mission from the opposite side's contact doesn't need to be done to get the handsome/beautiful badge. -

Id like to add something different to the CoH system

For some reason this just really scares me lol.

States hinted in another post that newspaper missions for heroes wouldn't be from newspapers. I think that's what he meant with that, like a police scanner or something.

god, maybe they'll make the security chiefs actually useful. how's this sound?
Once you hit lvl 6:

$contactname: Hey there $playername, I wanted to let you in on one of the ways I and some friends of mine gather info on the various menaces plaguing the city. Each zone's division of the Paragon City Police Department uses a specific radio network to commmunicate up to date information of major crimes going on.
.
Positron created the hardware that the police communicate over and it's very secure. They only give the access codes and frequencies out to people who have proven themselves to be on the side of justice. If you wish, you can go talk to the Security Chief in each zone and if you prove yourself to him, they'll let you have the frequency. that way, you can respond to trouble even faster!
.
Atlas Park and Galaxy City are the two safest places in the city, so they don't have networks. Go talk to to the King's Row Security Chief if you want your first set of access codes.
.
Good luck, $playername!
.
Oh! One last thing, you didn't hear this from me but there are rumors that the PCPD has undercover scouts in each of the hazard zones laying low and broadcasting events to the brave heroes who venture into those dangerous areas. If you manage to find one of them, you can get their codes too.
.
Thanks, I'll go talk to the KR Security Chief right now.
Thanks for the info, but I'm pretty busy right now. I'll talk to him later.

At first the took the P. We rallied and got them to change it to the first R.

Which reminds me, aren't they putting the AV changes in on or about I7? Dind't see it listed, but could be under the blanket "QoL" statement.
[/ QUOTE ]
it's in the current test patch, actually. -

[ QUOTE ]
But Statesman, I'm confused.
We were told long ago not to worry about CoH issues being delayed because of work on CoV, due ot the fact that they had seperate Dev teams working on them.
And yet, now, somehow the CoH team is failing to provide content for the update, and your reason is that you were busy fleshing out CoV and that CoV is priory numero uno.
But what about those who only have CoH?
What happened to the CoH Dev team being seperate from the CoV Dev team?
The CoH Dev team has had just as long, if not longer, than the CoV team to work on the update, and yet the COH only players are getting absolutely squat for new content.
I understand CoV needs to be finished, and needs work.
But so too does CoH.
2 games -> 2 Dev teams.
That's what we were told.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless I'm very much mistaken the comment about seperate CoV CoH teams was back _before_ the subscription cost was finalised. I'll admit that the "seperate dev teams" comment hasn't been officially redacted but my common sense tells me.
No additional subscription fee == No dedicated teams.
I'm really dissapointed about the lack of CoH stuff, but PPP's and the run from 40 to 50 in CoV will keep me busy I hope (Well my CoH main stalled at 44, I got my mission slots filled with AV's lost all interest and quit till the release of CoV so maybe it won't)
[/ QUOTE ]
well, considering the AV to Elite Boss change, maybe you can finally get your main to 50 now, too... -

I agree with you about PDP, but I am still not convinced there won't be something to do there come i7...
[/ QUOTE ]
Neither am I -- although it's the sort of thing I'd have expected to see listed in the I7 preview, if it were happening. It's new, it's colorful (great imagery for press releases), and it's looking like cooperative hero-villain play, which would be a big new feature worthy of notable marketing.
[/ QUOTE ]
well, new contacts and stuff don't typically get mentioned in press releases (nor do power buffs/nerfs and bug-fixes and other things like that, in response to others...), so I can see it not getting mentioned, since Pocket D itself should be live before i7 is out.
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
the 'newspaper tech', or whatever it's going to turn into for CoH, I could see that being added mid-issue...
[/ QUOTE ]
I could also see it happening -- that's why I brought it up. I'd just like to know if the devs could also see it happening before I get my hopes up (again).
[/ QUOTE ]
heh, i agree with you there... it would help with those level gaps too, if we had an inexhaustible source of missions, so the sooner this goes in, the better, in my opinion. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
well, they appear to be adding the new PDP (Pocket D) mid issue (granted that's both games), so there is hope that other changes would be made the same way...
[/ QUOTE ]
This is true -- but, that said, Pocket D's actual story content (missions from DJ Zero, and whatever else is planned) hasn't been released yet. So I can't quite bring myself to call it new story content, for the moment.
Honestly, I expected and accepted that I7 would be massively tilted towards CoV. Even as a non-PvPer and someone who much prefers hero-side play, I was OK with that. But I was hoping for something more like an 80/20 split than the 95/5 that this has turned out to be.
I'm not asking for much... and I'm not being unrealistically impatient. As a software developer myself, I understand perfectly the occasional need to cut features to get a release out on time. But, could we hero-types at least get a small "point release" once the CoH additions originally planned for inclusion in I7 are ready, so we're not staring down the barrel of a full 3+ month (plus time to I7 release) Issue development cycle?
Heck, just tell me that whatever Newspaper-ish system Statesman has in mind for CoH will see release in advance of the next issue, and it'll be enough to placate me for a few months. And maybe one new (borrowed or otherwise) powerset, just so Miss Kitty doesn't revert to a feral state and claw some poor red-name to death.

[ QUOTE ]
I had the option of releasing I7 or waiting until we could fill out the City of Heroes content. Obviously, I chose the former. New content should get out there when its ready.
[/ QUOTE ]
Should I take this to mean that the CoH content (not QoL fixes or graphics/costume improvements, actual story content) currently under development now will not see the light of day until I8? Or does "when its ready" literally mean that the hero-side content originally considered for I7 would be released immediately upon completion, as part of a patch release between I7 and I8?
If the latter, I'll feel significantly less disappointed by I7. It's not that I need more CoH content NOW NOW NOW (want, yes; need, no). It's the thought of the looooooong wait for I8 that's getting me down at the moment.

That and I doubt badges would disappear.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am actually hoping that they will. It'd prevent heroes and villains from changing sides willy-nilly for badges, and it'd also prevent a single toon from having badges from both Recluse and Statesman, which seems silly to me.
If a hero becomes a villain, I'd imagine that he'd throw away all the badges awarded by the Care Bears and work on villainous marks of esteem. By the same token if a villain becomes a hero, I imagine badges awarded by Recluse would be a source of shame, and he'd dump them while attempting to earn renown with the Good Guys.
In the Cold War, if a soldier/spy were to defect from the USSR to the United States, I doubt he'd still wear his Soviet commendations proudly on his new uniform!
[/ QUOTE ]
Given that some of the really hero-only badges (the Hero TFs for instance) have villainous version names coded for them in certain files, I suspect that they will transfer over as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
and a lot of the kill badges exist in both games... -

Sorry Jack, but what you are saying simply doesn't match what I see when I log in. Back around I2/I3 you couldn't turn a corner without running into a group of heroes, you could throw together a TF in minutes.
[/ QUOTE ]
All that means is that more people used to streetsweep back in the day. I know I did. You'd grab a team, then just move from group to group in the streets. When you broadcast to put a TF together, heroes could hear you because they were outdoors.
These days, with the mission bonus and all, heroes are much, much more likely to be indoors.
[/ QUOTE ]
exactly. I ran a search on both sides two days ago while playing (on Guardian)... most everyone who showed up on search in both sides (which was a fairly large number, by the way), showed their status as "in mission" -

While it is still possible in CoH to outlevel a story arc, you can always return to an outlevelled contact and complete the arc, albeit without receiving experience. This does not appear to be the case in CoV.
I found it to be extremely easy to outlevel the Port Oakes contacts without even trying. In fact, it's actually a little difficult to avoid outlevelling them until the story arcs are completed. With my MM, I did my broker missions and heist, then did Bocor's arc, by the time I did more broker missions and another heist, the broker wouldn't introduce me to any other contacts. Is there any way for me to complete those arcs and get the souveniers for them? I don't see a way at present because I can't even get the contacts to aknowledge me.
[/ QUOTE ]
go back and talk to Bocor. he should introduce you to the next contact (the Radio)...I remember in Beta wondering why the broker wasn't introducing me to anyone else, so I went back and talked to him, and he pointed me to the next person.
[/ QUOTE ]
That doesn't change the fact that Vendetti and Billy Heck both have story arcs (and one of the Vendetti missions has the badge Stone Cold and a Gladiator Badge as well), that I can't complete. I know Bocor introduces the radio when you finish his arc.
[/ QUOTE ]
oh yeah, I forgot about Billy Heck, sorry about that.
