Rooks is right about the arena being the best place to show each other how good you are as everything can be 100% fair..

    [/ QUOTE ]

You ever tried arena with a /dev blaster?
  2. I play other games for skill-intensive pvp allright. Counterstrike or any other kind of shooter is not among them though.

What bugs me to no small degree is that this game USED to have ok PVP, but then IOs were introduced and it turned into WoW.

I am vocal because this game has nothing left to offer except what is left of pvp. It was my first MMO, I would like to hang around. But I cannot tolerate PvE anymore.

If you dont want me around then fine.
    edit: accounts cancelled.
  3. If there were more people to play pvp against, I might be more lenient.
  4. [ QUOTE ]

It just doesn't make sense to me.

    Fahie

    [/ QUOTE ]

Being forced to grind your [censored] out in order to have a chance in PVP doesnt make sense to you? Ever heard of game called WoW?

    [ QUOTE ]

The devs stated that the game wasn't made harder because of IOs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Im sure devs pvp an awful [censored] lot.
  5. [ QUOTE ]

IO's are earned, be it through farming, playing the markets or simply ploughing through taskforces.

They're *in the game* ... why penalise those that spent the time to get them?

It's like telling a formula one driver "sorry, we're going to a wheel off now. You've gotten quite good at this driving malarky now and we want to level the playing field again"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Point is they have to be GRINDED. GRIND GRIND GRIND.
giving a big advantage to those people willing to do it will put people like me who cant be bothered with it off the game.

By not penalising those that spent the time to get them youre penalising everybody else. Its either or.
  6. Well if no diminishing returns means that IO sets retain their effectiveness, I would still be unhappy.
  7. Hammerfall

    Strange tells

your link links to itself, FFM.

    ps. Nice idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I remove myself from this list.
  10. Aid self/reconstruction/dull pain/etc triggering the (longer) move suppression is lol.
  11. I did check defiant RV last night before I came to Union. There was not even grinders in defiant RV. On union only RV seems to have any action, the other zones appear pretty quiet. (measured over about 4 days)

Where's my oversized, compensating for something, Rocket Pods / Rocket Launcher / Harkonnen set?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not very heroic to defeat a thug with a baseball bat by using a rocket launcher. Any idiot could do that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah
  13. If you explain your plan I could maybe join. I only have couple 50 characters though. Id appreciate if we tried things at lower levels too.
  14. Warhammer online is apparently the first MMO to award xp from pvp kills. At least thats how I understood the article in a gaming mag. Lets see how it pans out.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
You said PvP - that includes both zonal and arena. Arena wasn't dead therefore PvP wasn't dead.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Both were dead on defiant.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

The blanket statement that there was nothing good for PvP from i13 IS a lie.

    1. Selectable arena maps

    That is all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are also dual builds, although I personally have no use for them.
  17. [ QUOTE ]

To say a blanket "there is nothing good about them" is actually barefaced lying.

    [/ QUOTE ]

'Good' is a matter of opinion.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

The Devs were aware in advance of the PvP communities dislike and refusal to adapt and yet they were invited into beta and then blamed for effectively unusable feedback and getting in the way of changes.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Personally I say that you can always blame someone who is insulting.

I know I propably would have been unable to give constructive feedback on this as well so I dont try to claim otherwise.

    2. I have never, and still do not, buy into the mythology that Skill > Build in PvP. Build is paramount IMO. A lot of people bandy around the "fact" that skill is the only vital thing in PvP like it was a self-evident proposition. Its not.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Seconded. My opinion on this has never changed. This is a RPG, hence the same curse applies to it as all other similar games.

I play other games if I want something related to skill. Those games have no character progression of any kind.
  20. That is actually a pretty great idea.

similarly not being able to turn off cetain powers during fights is rather ludicrous, I was fighting an AV yesterday in a team and I had to actually move away to turn focused accuracy off, rather than just not turning it off anymore.

if I want to stop sprinting in real life for example, I don't have to put everything down, move away from what I'm doing and seperately stop sprinting. I just stop sprinting...

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is a real pain and I just can't understand why they did it. We've all made that daft mistake and left an endurance sapping power activated when starting a fight. Now we can't turn it off without running away. A lot of these changes are just adding to the frustration level. What possible exploit could there be in being able to turn a toggle off???

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dont understand what you are talking about, other than possibly meaning the thing that alt+number command (and others like Ctrl+number) doesnt 'queue' in the same way it did pre-I13. I think its a bug and I wish it was fixed. Back then I could keep attacking with 1,2,3.. etc commands, and if I needed to stop a toggle I switched it off with alt+1, shift+1 etc (command to activate/disactivate power from the other power tabs). Because this command queued earlier, it didnt matter if you were in middle of combat and had attacks queued. Now it doesnt, and you have to stop attacking for a second or two (for attack buffer to clear) to switch off a toggle. Its quite irritating and does lead to unnecessary deaths in pvp.

I may be mistaken and this has something to do with travel suppression but imo its not. I have trouble switching off personal force field (Ctrl+1) until after my build up and aim (quickbinds) have finished activating for example.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Why have surpressionj at all? Why not let people fight at full speed and run away if they need to at full speed?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    To slow down the combat.

ps. Im not interested in champions. Im rather waiting DC universe online which is one of two games im currently excited about. And I dont get excited often.
  23. Can someone give me server IP address that I could try tracerouting? I have a hunch this is a network issue somewhere. Wouldnt be the first time when the ISPs in Zurich have problems..

This website suffers huge lag as well. Talking about minute or more loading pages while I have no problems anywhere else.

ps. Trying to get this message through, take four..

edit: deleted previous 3 quadruple posts
  24. [ QUOTE ]

This game in my opinion dont need any more merit systems, day jobs, costume options, xp pacts, it needs something new to do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Quoted for the extreme truth.

Personally I think the changes succeed in making PvP more approachable for non-pvp people, but whether this in itself is enough to bring people to the zones is a completely different matter.

There are several good points voiced in above posts. Devs keeps nerfing their own content and think this should somehow make the game more enjoyable to play?! Giant monsters, Hamidon, now task forces. To solve the problem of very long, slow and boring task forces, introduce merits so you get decent rewards ONLY from the long, slow and boring task forces as opposed to the few and far between shorter and more enjoyable ones. Great solution! Making the long, slow and boring task forces somewhat less long, slow and boring never crossed their mind??
  25. [ QUOTE ]

Ie. spec out all the now useless powers - Offensive auras, instant healing, PFF and some of the tier9s.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dunno about you but I had fun tonight in union RV,being vastly outnumbered but had basically a full villain team hammering my PFF trying to get through (having power boost does help, though). They couldnt do it unless I opened it up to attack (it cant be dropped without end-drain after all). So without teammates basically I used heavy with goto_aggressive, lounging longbow and other things to have a chance to sneak in few kills, which I did. I no longer could kill a squishy with 3 hits, but overall I enjoyed this new experience.

Having a character survive longer gives more superhero feeling compared to the earlier pvp which was kind of out-of-place in this game after all.

ps. I did die more than I got kills but that was to be expected at those odds.
