Enjoyed the arc, but I'd have thought there'd at least have been a thorough proof reading of the arcs before they were released into the stark, uncaring wilderness of public attention.

Oh, and there's a typo in the announcement about the Quest for Magic, since I have no idea where to s tart
That's just in keeping with long-standing tradition in our CoH games. Some of the typos lasted forever in this game.

So. here's my piece of advice. I'm going to look a lot harder at what everybody else but AMD is doing before I go knocking down their door again. You should too.
All that having been said, most of it correctly (though clearly not entirely objectively), I will never, ever buy an ATI card again.

    Why?

I've had two (out of 2) of them spontaneously melt on me, in different cases, with good airflow, and one took my mobo with it. Never, ever, had those problems with an NVidea card.

A good friend's laptops kept overheating when he had ATI cards in them... one of which, again, melted and took out the mobo. As soon as he got a laptop (from the same manufacturer) with an NVidea card, those problems went away.

YMMV, but I've been burned (literally) once too often to trust ATI (and I was originally a big fan).

Being able to create the superhero/villain that I imagine is as important to me as the game play and I want the Devs to know that. Dare I say, that I enjoy creating the characters more than playing them at times. So yeah, there's much love for our Devs for this great game!

Maybe I shouldn't have posted in this thread, but my frustration over the costume issue got the better of me.
    We forgive you.

The Devs however, may not be so merciful. BaBs is terrible in his wrath.

I'm not going to derail this thread with a who's-better-than-who discussion. There are plenty of threads about that elsewhere. I will say that when the costume creator here gets a major overhaul (in G_R perhaps?), I hope they adopt stances and asymmetrical costuming options.

Also, I'm sure The Sexy One has scoped out the competition.

I must admit there are times that the Devs work on things for which I care little (or nothing) - such as PVP. (Especially PVP. Mostly PVP.) But I don't begrudge them the time to work on it. Even if Issue17 was nothing but PvP stuff, I'd be quite happy, because any improvement to the game increases its chances of sticking around for a long time. In fact, as much as I love power customization and super-side-kicking, I had just as big a SQUEEEE-fit over the fact that they fixed global channel colors. That has been my single thorniest bug, the one that has driven me the most nuts, so the fact that it has been fixed is right up there with power customization and SSK. So I am DEFINITELY not one to begrudge the Devs time working on whatever they feel is the priority of the moment- they have a lot more information than I do, and I know that eventually they get around to taking care of everything they can. Just because it's one of *my* top priorities, doesn't make it a top priority for the game as a whole. :]
I really wish more people would take this view. Because, while I didn't give a rat's [WARNING EXPLICIT LYRICS] about global chat colors, I realized (after reading post after post about it) that others did. So spending the time/resources to fix it was a good thing, even if it had no direct value to me.

Well said Sapphire. Every now and then, it's nice to remind the Devs that the (very) vocal disgruntled minority does not represent the players as a whole.

While I can't say I've only had positive experiences with the Dev/Community Relations team, I can say they have been overwhelmingly so.

It's clear they care about the game, and want to give us (within reason) the things we want. Naturally, since we, as a community, can't agree on most things, not everyone is happy with what they choose to work on, or how they do it, but anyone that claims that they don't care or listen is just on crack. I've never witnessed a Dev team that interacts with its player-base on such a regular (and fun) fashion.

Under the current administration, especially, I've been immensely pleased with the things that have been added to the game, and can't wait to see what the future brings.

I can count on one hand the games that I played with any regularity for 5 years, and having been here since day 2 (Curse you EB for your pre-order SNAFU!) non-stop, that puts CoX in pretty elite company (in my book anyways).

I love this game and have great hopes for the future.

[And as soon as Craptastic! gets my internet up at the new home, I will be playing again.]

  17. Bah! Missed it this year. I still have fond memories of being part of the Day Shift/Night Shift coalition that got BaBs the win a few years back.

Ace was very frustrated with us, since he was championing pohsyb that year.

Nice, I like the fact that the old way is an option.

  20. Very, very interesting. Now a quick question (and forgive me if it's already been aswered, I've got very limited time right now), does every player get SKed up, or only those who are more than 3 levels lower than the team leader?

    I.E. if we have a team of a 5, a 7, an 8, a 10, 1n 11 and a 15, running the lvl 10s mission, will the 5, 7 & 8 all be SKed to lvl 9, and the 11 and 15 RSKed to 10, or will the lvl5 run at 9, the lvl7, lvl8 and lvl11 at their respective levels, and the 15 be RSKed to 10?

Honestly, the Dev Digest was easily the most important part of the forums. I like to know what's going on with the game and what I can look forward to, or answers to popular queries. I'm not willing to go fishing through tons of topics to do so though. The Dev Digest made everything easier and kept us all informed rather well. Without it, so many people have deemed the forums not using at all- myself included. Granted, there are a butt load of people who find it useful still, but there's also a large number who don't.

And I feel strongly about this that I feel like people should be nagging about it relentlessly. ...Or at least once a day.
    Agreed.

    Some thoughts:
    1) I usually check the forums at work. When I'm at home, I usually have better things to do.
    2) The (seemingly) hamster-powered PCs at work... suck. Take 15min just to boot up.
    3) I'm not alone in this.

    At any rate:
    • Emocations - I liked the old ones, but you already posted on the issue.
    • View All - The old forums had a feature to view all posts in a thread. I used that a lot (on some larger posts I probably shouldn't have, too). I'd prefer it if this was readded, if possible.
    • Edited Posts - On the old forums, when a user edited a post it defaulted to having some text saying that the post was edited, for example "[Sarrate edited this post on mm/dd/yyyy at hh:mm]". These forums don't display that at all. Personally, I think all edited posts should be flagged as such to avoid 'ninjas.'
    • Images - While it can be useful, I can't help but feel like the feature will be abused...
    • (Subjective) The forums feel a little slower than the old one, but it may because numerous forum addicts (myself included) can finally get their fix after 3 days of downtime.

That's all I have for the moment...

[edit: I retract the bullet about editing posts. It was pointed out to me that there is a short grace period before a message gets tagged as edited. This is fully acceptable to me.]
[edit: Holy crap! This board actually tracks the history of edited posts! That's awesome.]
This sums it up pretty well, except for 2 things:

    1) The Dev/Community Digests need to be fixed asap. This should be the #1 priority. Most players I know use those to quickly stay informed. Right now, most of them (to a large extent myself included) are just completely avoiding the boards, since they are deemed "useless".

    2) There needs to be an option to specifically disable images in posts and a separate option to disable them in signatures.
