Oh, wow. You guys are really diggin' this, huh? I was keeping my fingers crossed that I didn't miss some show-stopping problem or that it just plain didn't work for a lot of people or whatever, but it looks like it's going great. Makes the last two months of work worth it in the end, I tell ya. (-:
Would you believe in the three and a half hours this thing's been available, it's already been downloaded over 75 times? And by the looks of it, it's all happy customers. Very nice to see!
Quote:I was hoping to make somebody's day with that feature. It's all fine and dandy to me, but I know someone out there has a really good use for this and has been wanting it for a while, and it's for those people that it was put together. If it helps someone have fun with the game, I'm all for it! (-:i just used the build export utility to export the build for my heavily IOed Dark/Ice Defender to Mids'. It was a build that i did entirely in my head and as i leveled up that i was quite happy with. For over a year i'd been telling myself i'd get around to copying it to Mids', and now it suddenly became trivial.
Quote:This is win just for the export build feature. Do you guys have any plans to integrate this with your online planner?
Quote:I sent you guys 10 bucks, this function is worth superbooster prices.
Quote:QR: One thing i have noticed on a quick check is that TO's dont seem to be picked up when i did a build rip.
Just a quick poll here: is having TOs work with the build export an urgent problem? The tracker's currently at version 0.9 for reasons relating to CIT's pending upgrades, so if it's not critical that people can export their TOs, I'll just make a note to have this fixed by version 1.0. -
For the past week or so, I've been dropping hints about some awesome project I've been working on. Ever wonder what I've been up to? Well, this is it! On behalf of Titan Network, I would like to announce our latest application: Titan Sentinel!
Titan Sentinel is an online character tracking tool that is officially replacing Glycerine. You can use it to track your character's statistics and Badges on City Info Tracker, but there's more to it than that! Here are some of the hilights:
Brand New Goodness
I'd normally not bring something like this up, but it deserves clarification: Titan Sentinel is 100% original work, not a derivative of HeroStats. If you have technical questions or suggestions, report them to Titan Network directly, since we're the ones who can make the best use of your feedback.
Giving credit where credit is due, though... We wouldn't be where we are today without the ideas and innovations of HeroStats, so I think they deserve a big round of applause from all of us.
Built-in Self-Update Feature
All of the information the tracker needs to retrieve information on your characters is stored in an external file, meaning you won't have to download and install a new version every time City of Heroes is updated!
- Tracking information is stored in an separate file to promote flexibility.
- Automatic updates keep the tracker ready to go without any user interaction.
Improvements Over Glycerine
Titan Sentinel sports a few key features that give it an edge over Glycerine. Among the big sellers mentioned below, you can also look forward to the following:
- Native executable: Titan Sentinel is faster and more efficient than Glycerine because it runs as a native program.
- Powersets are now tracked, meaning you won't have to assign them manually in your City Info Tracker character profiles.
- Alignment is now tracked, so as soon as City Info Tracker's upgrades are complete, this piece of information will be available.
- Side-switchers can now track Badges correctly. Even if you have a Hero archetype tracking the Spider's Kiss Badge, it will work just fine.
Tracking Badges with the Personal Info Window
Tired of /settitle binds? Set title no more, as you can now track badges with /info_self (or /info with nothing targeted if you prefer)! Simply load up your Personal Info window in the game, and all your Badges (no matter how many you have) are instantly tracked and ready to be recorded on City Info Tracker!
- Throw away /settitle binds forever. All badges can now be easily tracked using only the tracker.
- Track all of your badges instantly with a single slash command.
Character Build Exports
You've asked for it, and we've delivered (not that the one necessarily led to the other, mind you, it's just that both halves of that sentence happen to be true)! With the click of a button, you can turn the character you're currently playing into a data chunk build export for use with Mids' Hero Designer!
- Export your current character's build for use in Mids'.
- Inherent Fitness is already supported, even though Mids' itself isn't ready for it yet!
Go Get It!
Sound good yet? Head on over to Titan Network and grab it for yourself!
Note: Windows 7 and Vista users will need to run this program as administrator.

The clone's supposed to have different powersets. The question asked was why the Gremlins were white.

Quote:It is legally defined in the United States as the fourth Thursday of November.ooo soon then. When is thanks giving week?? ((british))
guess i wont need to respec fitness in any time soon then. woop.
I've heard some people claim that it's the Thursday following the fourth Tuesday, but that's bullony. -
Oh... Yeah, it's been on the beta server for like a month and a half. When did closed beta start?
-
190,861,964 bytes, which is 182.02 MB. I was hoping it'd be like 181.94 MB or something so I could say "you can't round up that's wrong" but it didn't end up that way. )-:

I just checked the test server and the current version is 1850.201009101722.18T2r -- same as live.
No Issue 19 on test right now. -
One time I had it complete as I was running towards the tertiary matrix computer. No enemies defeated; just... running into the room and mission complete. I took my Villain Merit and left.
Definitely not working as intended. -
They didn't fix this last night, did they? Gotta keep the thread bumped 'n' stuff.
-
Woah, this thread was getting pretty close to the bottom of Page 1. This is still an issue, right?

What the lolh34l0r gets when they charge into a new spawn with the Tanker where there are more enemies than the aggro limit.
Example: "u suk as a tank waaaaa!" -

That'd be great!
Though I'm afraid the joke's on you. This is a picture of my Brute:
I love his CIT profile image:

Quote:Check check and check. Sometimes I get a little too frisky and actually take on too much incoming damage, but it's usually one of these three situations if I fall.My experience tends to be that Dark Armor isn't often killed directly: it either runs out of endurance, gets recharge-debuffed to the point Dark Regeneration is taken away, or gets tohit debuffed to the point that DR can't hit anything. Then its killed.
And when I do fall, it is awesome. I occasionally do it on purpose for a free refill.
Though I would like to point out that AVs of nearly every sort other than Psionic will be dealing too much spike damage to stay standing with just a single target to heal off of. -
Quote:In that case, my Dark Armor Tanker is paradoxical. Carnies, Council, Malta, Circle of Thorns (save for stacked -ToHit), Rikti (as long as there are corners), Arachnos (though they're a bit rougher)... pretty much everything but Cimerorans, really. It clears x8+2 (with bosses) before it starts to break a bit of a sweat (without any Defense buffs--not even Cloak of Darkness), but according to you, such a character can't exist. You simply can't build someone to clear x8 maps based on the resistance focused sets unless you target a very specific damage type (FA vs fire or Elec vs. energy).
Well, either paradoxical, or you're blowing hot air. One of the two. -
Quote:Oookay, I've set my birthday in my profile then. If you don't wish me a happy birthday when it comes around, I'll give YOU a heartwarmingly thoughtful gift!!!Because your name wasn't on the Calendar for today?
Quote:But I had birthday stuff... like buying my own presents so I got the right ones.
Hey, good point with the having friends bit. I should try that next time. (-: -
'Bout an hour ago I got logged out with a rejected login. Over the course of the next 20 minutes I used up my 5 failed logins, and just got around to trying it again.
Consider this today's bump! -
Nobody wished ME a happy birthday. )-:

Quote:I've seen lots of Defense-built characters crumble to dust in the presence of ToHit buffs like Devouring Earth Quartzes or Elite Resistance. That's their weakness. Saying that they're universally protected by merit of positional Defense is just as incorrect as saying that a Resistance-based set fails due to one or two specific damage types. This might be true if there were a resistance set which provided universal protection. Of course such a set doesn't actually exist. It would also require that the relative performances were comparable.
I also wouldn't refer to most defensive sets as "Resistance-based" just because they use Resistance instead of Defense. Like you mentioned, Dark Armor's hopped up on mez (especially with Tanker Ice Patch), Fiery Aura's geared towards actual outgoing damage (kill things before they kill you), Willpower's a grab bag of just about everything, and Invulnerability's got a good deal of both Resistance and Defense along with a pretty good heal.
Having said that, there are Defense-based sets. Super Reflexes and Energy Aura are pretty much exclusively Defense. I wouldn't put Ice Armor in this category, though, because it has things like Hoarfrost, Chilling Embrace and Hibernate that grant survivability in more places than just Defense.
Longbow's Sonic Grenades notwithstanding, there aren't too many significant sources of damage Resistance debuffs either. And at least the grenade sticks to a specific location when cast. -
1. Do you believe there is an issue with the respective effectiveness of resistance vs. that of defense?
No, but I do think there's a problem with their respective availabilities in Set Bonuses. Too much Defense; too little Resistance.
Per-percentage, Defense tends to yield better results, but all that means is that it needs to come in smaller doses. Saying "a cubic inch of lead" makes a better paperweight than "a cubic inch of cork" is a bad comparison: no way in heck am I gonna stop a wine bottle with lead.
2. Do you believe there is an issue with the lack of effective hard limit on the amount of available defense for each AT?
Not especially, since an enemy with a ToHit buff can render it very much less effective. Resistance always works, but Defense has some serious drawbacks.
3. Do you believe that there is an issue with the lack of inherent protection to secondary effects within the damage resistance mechanic?
There are resistances to secondary effects too, such as -Recharge or Endurance Drain. These usually come in addition to Damage Resistance.
4. Do you believe there is and issue with the amount of available resistance bonuses that can be stacked vs. the amount of available defense bonuses?
Yes. See question 1.
5. Do you believe it would be worthwhile to stack resistance bonuses instead of defense bonuses, if the amount of available bonuses were currently comparable?
I would very much prefer Resistance, personally.
6. Do you believe that a change should be made to make the efficiency of resistance and defense more comparable?
Apples and oranges here; each has their strengths and weaknesses. I think their strengths should be focused on, but only sheer availability can keep them in the same performance bracket.
7. Do you believe that if a change were made, that defense should be brought more toward resistance or vice versa?
I know it wouldn't make me any friends, but I strongly believe the amount of available Defense through Set Bonuses needs to be brought down by half or so. On top of that, Resistance Bonuses could see some buffs, so I guess I take a little from column A and a little from column B.
8. Am I completely nuts, and resistance is actually more effective than defense?
Depends on what you're doing, but if you've got a way to refill that green bar every now and again, Resistance is far more reliable and trustworthy than a mechanic that requires a random number to work.
You're still completely nuts, though, regardless.
9. Do you have any ideas regarding how changes could be made to close any gap that might exist in performance?
See question 7.
10. Did I miss anything that should be addressed relating to the topic?
If anything, I'd say you hit everything a couple times too many. (-: -
Pretty sure it's the same two-handed overhead jumping smash like Total Focus, Thunder Strike, Incandescent Strike et al, but if you're curious you can always check out the animation in the costume creator.

Quote:There are specific spawns around the map that, when you finish them all off, will give you a "key" for a side-mission. These groups are always different from the rest of the enemies. For example, in Brickstown, the primary enemies you'll face are Council, but there are a few Nemesis spawns that have side-mission keys.Yeah, you just need to find the right guys to kill I think to get the side missions.
The full list of what to look for can be found here: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Safeguard_Mission -
No no, PumBumbler, you did it wrong. Let me show you how it's done...
*Ahem*
Golden Girl knows this because she saw the forum coming from the same source she gets all of her posts from. *Zing + Rimshot = Lulz* -
I approve of this thread and I encourage everyone to keep bumping it until the issue is resolved.
