Weird. I was thinking Marshal was the badge you received for the Mayhems. Never mind, then. Good luck with this, Masque.
-
Nuts, you have everything lined up for all the Mayhems? I missed 1-2 on my Stalker when I was leveling somehow, but I can't make Saturday during the day.
Cool that you're organizing this, though... need more stuff going redside. -
*sighs* You two.
Voo, I know what you mean. I like that Numina is not very long, as that makes it a nice quick last TF to do for the TF Commander badge. I'd probably never do it without the accolade, though... Jurassic with his spiked on a huge metal I-Beam is pretty memorable and fun, but that's about it for the TF. I rather hope that the Posi revamp is a sign of things to come. War Witch has sounded a bit more balanced in her statements about revamping vs. "new" content (at least compared to Posi). Not going to hold my breath, though.
I do wish they would tweak Eden a bit as well, as it is a unique thing. Something on par with the Cavern of Transcendence, anyway. -
I'd be up for my Archery/Devices Blaster, but that's second string, I guess?
Although, I couldn't do Saturday morning or afternoon, just the evening. So no biggie if that's too many quid pro quos. -
I'd be up for this. Need it on a Tank and a Blaster, but I'll probably bring the Tank, as this is all he needs for his TF Commander badge (unless we have too many tanks, for some reason, heh).
-
Sounds like what happened on our all Kheldian ITF. Rommy went all buggy then too (in the 3rd mission as well). We were wondering if it was from being hit at range or something, as that seems to make the AI sometimes run away when they can't hit back much.
-
Nonsense, everyone KNOWS Brutes are going to replace Tanks with GR!
Heh, my point was more that you should have been fairly solid if you were coordinated. I was expecting you all to steamroll this going in... all those lightning rods and shield charges going off, etc. Guess you should have brought a Stoner, eh? -
I do wonder if it would make some IO sets a little bit too available/easy to get... but it would ease up some of the supply problems we see. I'm still mystified as to why you can designate a level for when you are rolling for recipes with merits, to be honest. I'd rather see that instead, but if that was making things too easy (from the dev's point of view), this would be a fine other option.
And yeah, influence sinks are needed. I just hope they wouldn't overprice the recipe change costs. For instance, influence to prestige rates are ridiculous, or I'd gladly use that influence sink for the personal SGs I have on two servers. -
Hmmmm, isn't the healing nictus autohit? Even if it requires a to-hit check, I would have advised against zerging Rommy with the healing Nictus up, unless everyone was popping a lot of defense inspirations (given how many resist types you had). So I guess I'm not surprised by that.
Still... Grey Pilgrim can solo an 8-man Praetorian mob (he's Fiery Aura, so resist based like Electricity), even if it can get a little dicey. If you guys were coordinated, I wouldn't have thought you would have too much trouble until the end. Meh, as long as you had fun... -
78 deaths? What the heck were you guys doing?

I have an Archery/Devices Blaster that I'll give a shout out for. Probably not quite as many other tricks as some other secondary pairings for Blasters, but it's a fun concept. I named him Menelmacar, in honor of the Orion constellation in Tolkien's stories. Devices works great with that for a modern hunter character... concept is king for me.
Lot of fun with it, too. Not usually too necessary, but you can do fun stuff like lay trip mines in a mob, then have the same mobsters set them off when RoA gets them running.
Targeting Drone does make it particularly easy to riddle everything in sight with arrows, too, and Smoke Bomb and Cal Trops up your survivability nicely. Taser + Stunning Shot is nice for taking bosses out of the equation as well: generally quite useful on a soloing Blaster. -

Few ways to go for it as well. Do you need the def cap? I suppose, if you want to go super extreme, but I have been just fine with all my blasters at 30-35% defense (usually ranged, but that's what I'm aiming for with my Blapper build as well). I think I average solo being considered as 3-4 heroes at +1, which seems pretty fun to me (if you need to be fighting more than that, I would probably go for the def cap, I guess). I also soloed through all the EBs in the Vanguard and Maria Jenkins story arcs, which I don't think is too shabby.
Still, I liked not having to get Ice Armor on my E^3 Blaster, and the end result is going to call for fewer Kinetic Combats and other hard to get recipes.
Just for comparison, my E^3 Blaster is fighting as 2-3 heroes with just 20% defense to Smash/Lethal, plus Tough. I do use my holds and end drains, and have to pop a few greens every mission, but I still do well. It'll be nice getting him up to that 30-35% range, though. -
That would be why I said it would help against bosses until you're able to do something about them at higher levels.
For an Elec/Elec at those levels, though, you have a ton of options. You can hold bosses, you can end drain them, you can drop them in short order with all your damage, etc. So that's why I added that part about AS.
AS is useful on a lot of melee types. I love it on my MA/Regen Scrapper. He uses it all the time against annoying mobs (he can stun bosses, but it's nice to KD a mob down before they pop a tier 9, like a Paragon Protector). So I think your advice is quite helpful: if you have room for it. -
Nice to play with Isos again on Thursday. Got my VEAT to 24 and respeced him, which is nice. He's playing much better now. After a few more slots in one of his AOEs, I should be able to start dialing up the number of mobs he can fight solo. Lot more fun to play now, too.
I'm sure you'll be past him in another week or so, too. Oh well. Won't be able to jump in 'til May now, I would imagine... unless I call in sick for one of my Wed. night classes, heh. -
Yeah, I remember that (I'm still not sure why its recharge isn't on par with them... it's not better than RoA and Full Auto, from what I can see). I think that's some of the better thinking about it, as well. I do rather wonder if they should up the KD chances as well, just to help more during the animation. Yes, RoA and Full Auto don't get any mitigation, but they also can be fired from range, which I think is a fair tradeoff.

Quote:That's kind of my point, though- I should clarify. Those nukes affect the targets somehow. I could see HoB causing fear, or more reliable KD than defense to the caster. That's kind of my point in both of the "give it defense" threads... the idea isn't really based on how blast sets or nukes work. Cutting down its recharge or animation I can get behind. Same for more KD or something like that.Other nukes mezz spawns. Other nukes crash a spawns Endurance. Other nukes beat enemy to-hit into the ground. Other nukes put enemies on their backs, far away from you (HoB has a bit of this, or a lot of this on lethal rounds). The mitigation in Blizzard, another DoT nuke is just sick.
Even 30% defense for 5 seconds every 50-60 seconds is not beyond other nukes mitigation potential. A lot of people never thought blasters would get a power like Drain Psyche or Hoarfrost, and yet they did. I would think people would be OK with defenders and corruptors having a mitigation power, so its really only blasters where you could make the argument that they should not have it. Nukes are the exception for blasters, as almost every blaster nuke has mitigation of some sort beyond making dead things. HoB already has some with the KD, but of course it also lacks the making dead things part, so its arguable that it should have more mitigation.
Anyway, recently did a Manticore TF with two Dual Pistols Blasters. They did great with HoB, as long as they didn't fire it off first. If they waited for the Scrappers to go in first, it was game over quickly for the mobs, and not the blasters. So using the power well is another big part of this, as I keep trying to point out. -
srmalloy also kind of missed what I was saying about HoB at most getting minor tweaks, as it's going to be on par with Rain of Arrows and Full Auto. Obviously they three powers animate and carry out slightly differently.
My point was that they are all crashless nukes, and therefore RoA and Full Auto represent the closest comparison points for HoB. That means at best a HoB buff will look at lowered recharge for the set, 1-2 hit rolls instead of many, etc.
As I have pointed out many times in this thread, you are not going to be getting changes beyond how other nuke powers work- the devs aren't going to change how they start putting powers together for sets. Things are hard enough to balance already, I'm sure. -
I can make it this one week since it's my university's spring break. Hopefully someone will be willing to bring my Huntsman VEAT on board.

Quote:You cut me real deep there, MG. Real deep. I thought you said you could do Tuesday, too?So is Brutal Friday a definite at this point? I'm 0 for 4 on Ham's recent All-one-AT-teams runs, either because of power outage or GP's meddling... I'd like to get in one, at least.
Sarrate, yeah, as Voo said, the problem with Honoree was from how long he took. Most teams I've been on steamrolled him, and I wasn't expecting too much difficulty with defeating him after other all Tanker teams I've been on.
Was wondering why my offensive build on GP wasn't even noticing Dra'gon's attacks... go Fiery Aura for all those resists to fire... about time they were good for something. It's making me wonder if I should go for more defense or something to fire/cold on my Invuln, though.
At least it let Voo revive and others revive spectacularly a few times? -
Quote:Using Hurdle with Combat Jumping is even better for Jousting, and that has been something that a lot of players have been leveraging for a long time. Mentioned plenty of times in guides and the Blaster section as well. I saw it in action long before leveraging that with a few of my Blasters that weren't wanting to Hover. It's not that difficult of a trick, either.a lot of that is getting the timing down, just for a casual player's sake, it's not very practical. Though yes, Super Speed is typically the best method for it's stealth-like capability and Super Jump can work nicely for outside based maps.
the 1.17 seconds between life and death, well that depends on if you ate any inspirations before you did what you did and what the size of the spawn is
The +def idea was already thrown out there on the Blaster forums, so I guess I'll repeat myself. You can make an argument for a shorter animation, a shorter recharge time for the power, more damage, a reworking of how the damage and KB are applied, etc. But you are NOT going to get +def thrown into Hail of Bullets. It's completely beyond the pale of what any other nuke does.
The earlier things I mentioned are in line with what a nuke can do, and you can easily argue for those. The devs aren't going to make the nuke an "I win" button, though, and they're certainly not going to make the power brainless to use.
You can die using any nuke. Use good tactics, and it won't be a problem. If Hail of Bullets is underperforming, look in the numbers it has now and compare it to other blast sets, and make your case for it. The +def thing is just... yeah. As I said in the Blaster forums, you might be able to get Castle drunk and agree to it, but he'd sober up eventually... and I wouldn't count on it even then. -
I suppose you could have run into some weird bug... but that'd be one weird bug. Normally you see salvage and a variety of recipes for sale (which is what I saw yesterday when I was on the redside market), if in smaller volume than blueside. Despite what the doomsayers try to say, you can buy and sell on redside.
-
Hmmmmm, I was going to say at the 2nd picture that he needs a haircut, but you already covered it. I think he favors the shorter haired look.
Kind of miss having a dog or a cat around, but then I don't miss looking after them, either. I live vicariously, though... know plenty of people with pets. -
Not sure how I got a double post... oh well. Silly forums.

Wasn't expecting so many issues with Dra'gon and the Honoree. I've been on all Tanker TFs before, and haven't had things be quite that slow with AVs before. Though maybe we weren't the best combo for taking them down, I dunno.
The offensive build worked pretty well, considering I don't have all the Recharge and Smash/Lethal defense worked in just yet. I wouldn't want to main tank with it (I had to use Eye of the Magus twice), but I still never died and did a fair amount of carnage.
Tankers sure are good at taking out lots of minions and lieutenants fast, though. That was pretty fun.
