It's become click-intensive, but for pure "uptime" it's hard to beat /regen...you can go from mob to mob without even slowing down. My main scrapper is BS/regen, but based on playing a staff/EnA scrapper, I would think a staff/regen scrapper would pretty much stay in scrapperlock 24/7

The disparity between trials and solo/small groups is absurd. The other day I got into a TPN trial. I had no clue at any time what was going on, there was so much chaos on my screen that I'm pretty sure I got a mild sunburn from all the flashes, and I spent 75% of my time standing around helplessly with no idea where to go or what to do. Yet I came out with 2 Emp, 8 Astral, and 50+ threads.
Contrast this with a small group where I can actually read and enjoy the content, not race about frantically trying to keep up with 15+ other people, and have the luxury of oh, seeing my surroundings in between the SFX of all the powers going off. To get what I got in that one TPN trial I'd have to do days and days of DA grinding.
I'm not a strict soloer, but large groups are just no fun to me. A 2-5 person team feels good, and is more "comic-y" anyhow. How many active members do the Avengers(tm) or JLA(tm) have normally anyhow? Usually not 16+.
So while I think the DA content is excellent, the incarnate awards are absurdly stingy. Re-running the same content over and over and over and over is boring no matter how good the content is - it pales after the 5th time or so. -

I don't claim this to be the best duo, but some time ago and friend and I went 1-50 with a Broadsword/Regen scrapper and a Kin/Psy Defender. My toon was the scrapper, and it was just a blast. It starts out a bit slow, but once the Defender gets Speed Boost you are much happier, and then once Fulcrum Shift hits...oh my. Big orange numbers.
I suspect that the /Psy could be better if replaced with /Rad or /Sonic, but the Defender liked being able to snipe things you could barely see as specks off in the distance -
I'll sell you my copy of WoW very cheap <L>. You just pay shipping. Only been installed once!

I, for one, welcome our Developer Overlords.
God I love this game and this Dev group. -

It is becoming more and more apparent that the real source of much of the discontent is coming from solo players who have appropriated 99% of the games content as their own despite the consistent position of the dev team that this was a team game first and foremost. These people then become outraged when told that not all the content in the game was aimed at them.
Clearly given very consistent message from cryptic and the dev team this is a misconception on the part of these solo players, nothing more.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, because God forbid they give the players what we, the paying cutomers want. No, we've "appropriated" the game. We must be whipped back into the Vision(tm).
Yeah, that's a viable busines model.
(BTW - I am VERY pleased that States has replied, and I look forward to his next post. The Devs strike me as pretty reasonable and responsive people - I just happen to feel they've made a mistake here - and a lot of folks apparently agree with me. So I'm not slamming the Devs at this point. I'm slamming the people that adamantly feel the game should be forced into something that it's clear a LOT of players DO NOT WANT.) -

Since I found Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series to be incredibly boring and repetitious after about book 4 or 5, I've stopped buying those as well.

Thank you! I'm the only one in my group of friends who thinks this way. I'm not crazy!

<heh>. I thought it was boring and repetitious after the first HALF book.
Now, Martin's "Song of Fire and Ice"...wow! Wish he'd get the 4th book done, though.
And um...sorry for the thread hijack. Just had to respond, because I cannot, for the life of me, understand the appeal of Jordan's books. -

Therfor you can't complete the mission without killing the bosses in order to free the lawyer.
[/ QUOTE ]
The guys holding aren't bosses. Mez the bosses, kill the hostage holders, and go home.
[/ QUOTE ]
The problem is, YOU can mez them, you're a Mind Controller. But many of us aren't. Ahtropa isn't, and my little Blaster isn't either.
You were with me on my DE save the lawyers mish today. You saw that undocumented Devoured, orange flavoured, at the end near the last hostage. If it was JUST me, I'd have been in for a world of hurt. Why? My Blaster doesn't have the ability to mez. Sure, the hostage was in the corner, MAYBE I could have gotten in and gotten him out from under the nose of the boss and the other mins roaming. I have Stealth and Superspeed, those two combinations give me a good pseudo-invis. But a toon who doesn't have that is in for a hellish fight.
I was with my SGmate who's a Scrapper today. He told me in all of his solo missions today before teaming with me he had bosses, either near the glowy or hostage. He has stealth of a sort from DA, however, they still aggrod and he was in for a fight regardless. Until he teamed with me and had a much easier time due to Aht's buffing. But still, more than once today I had to unexemplar in mid-mission just to be able to handle the damage the bosses were applying. And at one point I almost lost him when I paused in the spam-heal to apply Fort and AB. One hit, ONE hit and he was dropped to red. It took a spam-heal and Heal Other to get him back to full because of how hard he was being slammed. A L44 Emp nearly being overwhelmed by the damage of a L31 boss. That's just ridiculous.
As for mezzing the boss, as you suggest. It's easy for YOU. YOU have a toon that CAN handle bosses of just about any type. You hold, sleep, Terrify, whatever you need to do to get the job done. YOU can do this. We, myself included, canNOT. Only if we roll an MC specifically to have a character which CAN do what you do.
See the diff? What you suggest is well and good, but it's most often NOT an option. Not for a solo player who doesn't have that ability on their toon. Now, going out and finding an MC willing to team is another solution. But, and as has been relayed and in my own experiences, finding a good pick up team is time consuming and most oft times nearly impossible.

That censored mission cost my blaster tons of debt just pre-I3. That orange Lesser Devoured was with a hostage around a corner, so no snipe for me - if you can see him, he's in your face. And nope, I don't have superspeed or stealth. It was really, really ugly. I shudder to think about it post-I3. Doubt I'd even have completed the mission solo. -

I think ultimately the Devs realize they made many of us heroes too powerful for game balance. But it wasn't evident how bad it was for awhile, and as usual, took a long time to work out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe. But that doesn't explain draining the fun factor from the game totally. OK, time to tell my story.
I'd read here how the bosses were nasty, so I decided to form a team, to protect my squishy (level 31 eng/eng blaster) butt. I manage to find a 31 and tank and another 31 blaster. Cool, not bad for noon on a workday.
So, we take on one of the tank's missions, against Freaks. First battle was kinda tough, but the tank held aggro to perfection, and we wiped them. Then trouble started rearing it's head. The other blaster (ice/ice) pops around a corner and there's a Freak Tank. Whack! He gets one-shotted. Scary, but he got too far out front. So we wait, regroup, and head toward the next group, with the tanker taking aggro.
Next thing you know, we're facing 3 red Freak tanks. The battle took about 15 seconds, as both blasters get one-shotted. The tanker takes 3 whole shots to put down.
Yeah, that TONS of fun. TONS. I love running back and forth to the contacts to get inspirations after EVERY group, and really, these hospital tubes are kind of comfy. Makes you all tingly.
I don't object to giving the bosses more HP. But the extra damage is utterly absurd. And these were generic bosses, not named ones, not AV's. Just bosses.
So - if States says we should be scared of white bosses and get help, how do we EVER do missions if the bosses are 1-for-1 with the heroes and all con red? And don't give me that BS about sneaking around and finding the glowies...I didn't sign up to play City of Creeping Mice.
Until something gets changed, I'm playing sub-25 level alts. I can live without the constant debt.
