I had flash backs of Starship Troopers!

I've long said that this game needs more co-ed shower scenes...

    I second that emotion...

I wanted to chime in here...

I love these events, but it would be SOOOO much better if it was an actual ... surprise!! no announcement on the boards posting future dates, or a reminder it's this weekend. I mean really, even if we had rikti spies get us the info, you'd think they'd be smart enough to change their plans...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not gonna debate you, Backhand. But for every player who wants a "surprise", there's another one somewhere who had to miss a certain event on a certain day, or weekend, or whatever, and will wonder why he couldn't be informed ahead of time to schedule.

In short, you can't please everyone.

    This just in from Marketing...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

    Yeah, no kidding Knight!

Anyway FBK, mondo congo-rats off to ya. I have been a fan of CoX vids since watching Richard Moon's crazy stuff (take a bow, Richard), and am gratified that the creative work of people him, Miss Abyss, Bobbo (?), and now you are finally giving a voice...and hopefully a bigger audicence...to our collectively enjoyed pastime.

    Goooooooo FANTASTICO!

(and in the interest of full disclosure, I watched about the first 20 seconds, then decided I needed to HEAR as well as see the whole thing, so I'm just gonna wait 'til I get home)

Thanks, Chase and Cinder! Loved your Issue 10 comic, and this is just as gut-bustingly amusing.

Now I'll be picking up the pieces of my gut and getting on my way, thankyaverymuch...

I just wish we can travel to a WW2 era zone.

It would be cool to fight actual Nazis instead of Facists.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, WWII is such an influential period in comics. It would be fantastic to be able to visit it and participate in it.

What would be really awesome is if the zone was a sort of "PvP via PvE" zone, where heroes would assist the allies by fighting the Axis, and Villains would assist the Axis by fighting the Allies, but in their own copy of the zone. Missions completed by either side could have some effect on the opposite side, like unleashing a giant wave of tanks, or Sky Captain-style giant robots. If you wanted, you could also have a PvP version of the zone where actual full-on PvP could take place, but I'd love to see a zone that had the Hero vs. Villain struggle in it without the very different style of actual zone PvP (e.g. superjumping hit-and-run stalkers, TP Foe + mines and caltrops, 8 on one ganking, long periods of unbalanced population where you have nobody to fight, or you're the only one on your side-- all things I don't find particularly "epic" or "challenging").

    [/ QUOTE ]

So like "Recluse's Victory" with a WWII feel.

Yeah, I could get behind that.

Of COURSE the cross-genre stuff works. The "Super Hero Universe" concept is virtually meant for genre-fusion ideas. Look at the Classic Icons of "The Avengers" where you have a supertech suit of armour (clearly a sci-fi idea-IRON MAN) right next to Mjolner (Straight out of scandinavian ancient Myth-THOR). The Other major company has the same platform in the "Justice League" where you have a crashlanded alien (another sci-fi idea-Superman) side by side with an Amazonian Olympian (More Greek and Roman Mythology-Wonder Woman).

The super hero genre is as malleable as they come. There IS no "outside of the genre" with superheroes. I'm a longtime Vet, (my croatoa inspired toons get thier pixie sidekicks next week via the 4 year award) and What keeps me here instead of the other MMO's is that IN a super hero universe you can drastically change the backdrop of mood and theme, and KEEP your main characters in thier gaudy spandes. We can buy Wolverine in his Canary Yellow and Baby blue spandex tackleing a Dinosaur in the Savage lands we can certainly swallow Paragon City Heroes Timetravelling to Ancient Rome.

    Now as to future suggestions:

You guys start Crackin on our World War Two timetravel zone where we can see young statesman, and meet the Sand Kings. I really want to bust up some Storm Korps. A December 7th, 1941 Task Force would be the coolest thing EVER!

And Also: An ancient sunken city of Mu (the pacific's atlantis) with a Hero Sea King Leader who has it IN for Mako & Scirocco. A Superhero universe just isn't complete till we have an underwater zone complete with Hero Sea King Character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Here here, Fig!
  7. <QR>

Good gawd...I can't believe some people WOULDN'T think that a Greco-Roman timeframe woulnd't be appropriate for superhero gaming. I mean, we've got Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel in the DCU with ties to ancient gods from that era, the Marvel Universe has both Thor and Hercules that ARE ancient gods from that era, frankly it seems like a natural to me.

Where to go next? Heck, the sky's the limit IMHO. Why not go back to the Renaissance and help da Vinci? The 20's and 30's would give you gangsters and molls, and I know Brass Monday has already been requested as an event players would like to have recreated. The 40's gives you the events of WWII, along with in-game events like Atlas' push against the Nazis in Independence Port. The 50's would be great for a "Red Scare" storyline against Communists...the 60's could be a big "Hawks vs. Doves" storyline using the events of Vietnam as a backdrop. Even the 70's could use Statesman's injuries from a Soviet missle in '76 as a reason for heroes to time travel (plus it could tie in with America's bicentennial!).

Yeah, I haven't thought about this much. Okay Devs...I've just given you, like, six issues worth of content ideas for free. You're welcome. Now go to it!

Love Vent for TF's and for playing with friends. Will use it for sure. I am really surprised at all the venom this one has brought out though. You'd think they were going to have DXP weekend EVERY weekend or something like that with a lot of the replies here. Oh well, to each their own I suppose.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My SG also uses Vent, and so does cast of DJ Jules' "Unmasked" show on SI Radio (Fridays 10 - 1 EST, y'all!), so I think a move to integrated voice chat is a natural move. Apparently I'm in the minority here, but c'est la vie.

Still, I think if *I* had to deal with yammering voices channel by channel, I'd probably turn it off too.
  9. <QR>

Hiya Templar. Thanks for sharing. I've been a comic book geek since I was 5. I remember my Mego action figures, playing Champions from grade school through college, and can probably rattle off animated shows from the original Super Friends to Ben 10: Alien Force that I enjoy to feed my superhero addiction.

But nothing beats being in Paragon City. I've been here since December of '05, and the wife started around three weeks after me. We supported one supergroup, founded another, and have good friends both inside and outside of the game. I think I speak for everyone when I say...

Okay, I'm all for devs partyin' and relaxing, but SIRadio station policy is no drunk/inebriated by various substances DJs on-air. Doesn't quite help you do your 'job'!

Pft..."prude, schmude"...the policy helps cut down on drunken rants. Which is a GOOD thing, IMHO.

Besides, drunk people are only fun to sober people anyway.

I can’t tell you how excited I am for our game’s future, and although we have some major announcements yet to be made, one of the things I can talk about is a feature that we are planning. Similar in concept to our character creator, it allows you, the players, to create missions and story arcs for your characters and others to participate in. You’ll be able to pick the map, villain group, and objectives, as well as write the dialog and any clues needed for the missions. When you are satisfied with it, you can upload it and have other players across all servers play it and rate it. Fame will come to the players whose stories rate the best overall. It is features like these that we never dreamed of including when we first shipped, but are excited to be able to offer players very soon.

    Wow.

I never thought I would get into an MMO, but a friend talked me into trying this one about six months back. I don't even play computer games, as a rule, much less MMos, so I sorta figured I'd play two or three times and that'd be it and they'd leave me be.

Obvioulsy, that's not what happened. The game was completely engaging and enjoyable and has become an absolute love of mine.

And I am deeply, deeply impressed that that all happened while so few people were working on the project. The devs here are, downright amazing!

Sweet Jebus I cannot believe I've played this game for four years (okay on April 27th 4 yrs) and this is the 1st time I've ever heard a Lucille Ball reference in relation to the Rikti.

Now give me a minute to think I'm trying to come up with a joke relating to taking a Pillbox in RV into "All in the Family".

The looming threat of the Rikti Invasion Force still hangs like a dark pall over Earth. Despite the best efforts of humanity, aggressive Rikti incursions still plague the planet. Advance warning systems indicate the Rikti are massing for attacks on the following dates throughout the year:

    • March 7th through the 13th
    • April 25th through May 1st
    • June 13th through June 19th
    • August 1st through August 7th
    • Sept 26th through Oct 2nd
    • November 14th through November 20th

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm. For a minute there, I thought I cracked to the code to the dates they were choosing for the raids as being the perigee (closest approach) between the Earth and the Moon.

According to this site, however, the synchronicity isn't exact.

Seriously, though, how cool would that be if they picked the dates based on lunar perigee? As a lead-in to the Moon Zone(tm) that everyone's been wanting?

Anyway. Yay, Rikti. I'm gonna get sum moar meritz.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um...yeah, that WOULD be cool, and not completely unexpected of our wacky dev team to arrange something exactly like that.

Oh and yes, Turgenev..."farm moar meritz plz!"

BTW I just called one of my friends who's an occasional player. As a major old school sci fi geek, I thought he'd appriciate the chance to ward off invading alien attack ships and their groundtroops.
