Wow...am I actually...EXCITED for this last season?
Hmm...I think I need to lay down now. -
-
Can. Not. Wait. This looks like a VERY worthy successor to Justice League/Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans...both of which I enjoyed for different reasons.
Oh and is it just me, or does the JLA group shot look like the same animation from "The Batman" series? -
Quote:This is officially the funniest thing I've read today. Thanks! Here's how States explained it to me:
"Look, Maria, she was a great gal back in the day and all. But let's face it, the years have not been kind to her. I'm the greatest superhero in the world, y'know, and I have a certain image to uphold. I look like I'm perpetually 29 and she looks like my grandma.
"So, look, here's what I need you to do. Don't let on that I'm over here in Independence Port. Just pop through a few portals and tell her that you're looking for me. Play it out for as long as you can. Then when she finally sees me on the news or something, just tell her that you rescued me but I'm too busy to come and see her.
"C'mon, do it for me and we'll be pals."
And that's how I became Statesman's Pal. -
Your higher-than-average testosterone level is one of the many reasons we love you, Michelle!

That a lot of good, fun news folks. Makes me happy in special areas!
One of my old college friends wanted to take a break from WoW (though he's still playing), and I spent Saturday night with him and an SG member on Vent helping him with character creation, power sets, etc. My boy Hella suggested we go to Firebase Zulu so he could get our new friend a jetpack, and we got him up a handful of levels.
Cut to Monday, College Dave posted on my Facebook page that he has more questions now, but his reply is to have me log on to Vent where he's already with Hella IN PRAETORA! SAY WHAAAAAAAA?
Yeah, that's when I learned trial accounts get access to GR. It was a good move, Devs. Show the base games and the new shiny...draw them in to it ALL. Of course being the only kid on the block can't get in yet 'cause he's waiting for his Collector's Edition of GR to come in is a little dissapointing. But it'll come. I keep telling my self "today. It'll be here today. Just check the mailbox on the drive home!"
Well there's always tomorrow... -
Quote:Metropolis is in New York.I can't say for sure, but I've always wondered if it was just coincidence that at the time they were making the game, a certain city called Metropolis was also located in RI (I think with all the changes at DC, it's in Kansas now, but I'm not sure because I quit buying comics about 4 years ago).

Quote:THIS, folks. Good point, Frost. Shine your shoes, come your hair, and for GAWDSAKE use a breathmint!well, lets not celebrate too much, i'm thrilled to see the current boom, now lets do everything in our power to KEEP THEM. Find a noobie and help them, see a new person on the boards, be nice to them. this is a chance, how it is handled determines the future.
Okay, all joking aside, I think a little extra effort at being welcoming and helpful wouldn't hurt. Let's go have fun out there... -

Mmmm...yeah unlike my missus I specifically asked for the GR Collector's Edition for my birthday (which was the 29th, BTW). My parents ordered it, and I've been patiently waiting knowing I wouldn't receive it any sooner than the 17th.
Cut to last night, and after my friends on Vent were capping on me for NOT being able to get into Praetoria my stupid self gets on the phone asking Mom if she knows when my copy will be delivered. Oy, I tell ya. OY!
On the other hand, it did my heart good to see the servers lit up LIKE CHRISTMAS TREES last night! I hadn't seen such activity since the first Double XP Weekend!! -
Quote:Sorry, Steel, but I gotta agree with Dec...on both sides of the coin. This, above all else, has always had me convinced that you're utterly and completely mad!
But at least it's a fun kind of insanity!
Crazy, yes, but I like that brand of crazy. Plus...well, talk about keeping the GAME fresh! Sheesh... -

Lone Hero, think twice before you leave us. We need as much interesting dialogue as we can get around here, and interest comes from tension...derived from opposing viewpoints (and varying shades thereof). -
Pretty much 3/4 of The Aquabats' catalogue.
And the 1966 "Batman" theme.
And the 1978 "Superman" theme.
Gawd I could go on...I'd better not... -

As others have said, welcome back! I think you can tell we're glad to have you return.
Also, I'm sure you've gotten plenty of good advice here, but figured I'd chime in anyway. Four years and about a bajillion comic books has gotta count for something.
o How do you, oh veterans of City of Heroes, make the game feel fresh, or at least somehow continue scrounging up fun?
- Altitus (it's not as bad as you might think! Join us! JOOOIN UUUUUS!!)
- AE Missions. I know AE has gotten a bad rap as a farming house, and many seemed to get turned off by the changes closing some of the farming loops, but man...for those of us who just wanna PLAY? There's a goldmine o' fun admidst some (admitted) garbage, but running some Architect missions, particularly in the early levels, can ease the tedium of "not another Snake mission AGAIN!".
- Set a "Game Date" with my wife. There are many playing couples in the CoXverse, so if you're one why not set a game date with your SO? For the last couple of weekends StarSpangled Soldier and Sweet Annihilation have torn up nearly a half-dozen missions. And I think my wife's character has an CUTE pink sword.
o Do you have any suggestions as to how I can somehow make doing the same lower leveled content feel alright again (like, perhaps building a nifty A.E arc or something)?
- See above.
o Do you have any suggestions as to how I can make the City of Heroes experience feel more social, friendly, and more like an M.M.O.R.P.G rather than a mental abuse machine?
- Find me on Infinity and hit me up. My wife and friends from Texas would be happy to introduce themselves. Me too, of course, but only if you're not a jerkenstein. -

Quote:Soooo...you've READ "Infinite Crisis", I take it...Dating? In CoH?
Man, don't you people know that, these days, bad things happen when the romance game is played in the comic genre? I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop on Psyche and Manticore's marriage.
This, in turn, will cause Manticore to become a dark, brooding recluse,
which will cause division in the Freedom Phalanx,
which will cause it's dissolution,
the bad guys will take advantage of the power vacuum,
only to be stopped in the nick of time by the new, hip generation of young supers,
who will form the hip and popular New Freedom Phalanx,
and then most of them will die in successive story arcs at the hands of those same bad guys,
because that's edgy and they were never meant to last long anyway,
their deaths will bring the old Freedom Phalanx back together, including the surviving (i.e. the most popular) characters from the New Freedom Phalanx,
Manticore will recover from his trauma due to some ambiguous revelation,
Sister Psyche will be brought back from the dead in some baffling way,
and things will return to exactly the way they were before because man, that New Freedom Phalanx thing just wasn't working out.
Of course, this is all just speculation. -
And THIS is exactly why I did NOT preorder the code only. I *want* the box, and stuff, and was willing to wait. My wife, on the other hand, wanted the preorder for her birthday and has been enjoying her Demon Summoning.
The ability to preorder gave everyone the ability to say, and keep saying, "Nah-nah, I can do something most people can't do yet." Nothing wrong with that.
There should also be nothing wrong with choosing to wait, wanting to buy the Collector's Edition, and having an option to get bonuses by purchasing through Gamestop. Probably where I'm going to get mine, now. -

Quote:Now THAT'S a good idea. Heck I'd even pay for that.I actually know how you can make smartphone apps available without actually developing them - it involves creating an API for smartphone developers to use. Things like being able to read in-game email (but not send for obvious reasons), see if your friends are online, etc. PM me if you want more details, I don't really want to post something long and derail the discussion here on a fairly minor point.

Quote:Yes, we faithful Dragon*Connies have been all but begging for dev luv for three years now.<snip> I'd very much like to NOT have plans interrupted/destroyed last-minute by you guys announcing your own event if you show at one of these. I'm sure people looking to run similar events at other cons (like DragonCon) would deeply appreciate the same consideration.
Mmm...oh who'm I kidding? Yeah, there was begging involved. I can't lie.
So if you're NOT gonna come (again) this year, "threw us a freakin' bewn" willya? Swag would be appreciated.
Oh and please note, trial copies of Tabula Rasa do NOT count as swag. Even less so this year than the did last year. Maybe more like laser pointers and capes.
Or LASER CAPES!

Quote:This. More corporate mo-nays for Paragon Studios is good...so long as it doesn't overly impact the performance/story of the game. I think the problem aside from a possible target market error (shoes, anyone? Anyone??), was the ability to turn the feature off. Why would someone want to pay you money for their advertising to NOT reach its intended audience?
I like in game advertising too but on billboards and incorporated in game. It's
awesome cause it actually puts things in reality while getting funds for the game.
(of course as a player I really APPRECIATE that feature, but you get my point)
