It still flumoxes me that the devs didn't see this coming. A friend said to me from when MA was first announced that it'll be used for farming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I honestly didn't think the MA would be used for farming, but then I honestly didn't think the developers would be crazy enough to have MA missions give full rewards either.

There is a lot of very good work put into the MA, but at the same time some aspects are so designed with so obviously little thought that as a developer I'm appalled.

To me, I honestly thought that this was a great concept and to do for some fun/light entertainment. I also had plans to make an arc around one of my charatcers. At the time, I couldn't see how it could be used for farming either. I believed the devs had said when it couldn't be used for farming and they had things in place to stop potential exploits (as mentioned by Judgement_Dave above).

I did feel let down when these statements hadn't come to fruition, as I was so sure farming wasn't going to be an issue. It's quite surprising how much it affects the view of MA when there's such a kerfuffle following it.

The windfall to Jackpot line of badges (for surplus badges) were often earned by intentionally leaving tickets until the ticket cap was hit and then the surplus tickets earnt for the badges. If the surplus ticket badges were not available then I would imagine that no-one would ever have obtained these badges, as they would spend the tickets rather than lose rewards.

So presumably the removal of these badges will be performed alongside a corresponding boost of accountwide tickets - won't it?

If so, can we have reasonable warning of when this is going to happen so that accountwide tickets can be spent to leave enough room for the compensating tickets to be placed there?

If not, doesn't this mean that the devs have effectively retroactively altered the risk-reward equation that was in effect whilst players were intentionally gaining surplus ticket credit?

It's not too different to if the 'Payoff' badge was removed.

I second that! It would only be fair.
  3. It still flumoxes me that the devs didn't see this coming. A friend said to me from when MA was first announced that it'll be used for farming. How did the devs not see that? Where they really under too much pressure (self-imposed?) from the US contingent to really sit down and think of ways of how to farm with MA, then take the appropriate action?

I'm just really disappointed by the way the devs have handled this whole situation. Maybe (and I'm sure we'll only get a cursory glance) we should be a little more involved with upcoming issues. Like testing at the same time as the US, or heaven-forbid that we get to test before they do (wishful thinking, I believe).

I still think this is the best MMORPG going due to the friendliness (most of the time) and helpfulness of everyone playing this game. Shame the devs can't spend enough time with us Europeans like they do with the Americans...
  4. My name is Golden Samurai and I have no intentions of leaving. Unless I can no longer afford it with kids on the way. But I shall do my utmost to stay!

I love playing this game and teaming with people I've not teamed with before (or at least recognise). This is sooo different to the atmosphere of other MMOs (*cough* WoW *cough*) and, although the game isn't perfect, it's our game.

    By the players?... Yes.
I was approached last night by a famous SuperGroup that wondered If I would be interested in contributing to their planned event.

    So yes!, plans are afoot!.

Good for you, Salerth! If you've got the focus and money to play it, why not.

Golden Girl's suggestion with getting every pet to do the robot dance is cool! I reckon you should do it and post the link here...

I'd gladly call Osama Bin Laden a heroic man if he blows up Worlds.com HQ...

That was seriously not cool. Tut-tut.

Anyhoo, I could see where Worlds.com would be coming from IF CoX was meant to just allow communication between users and look around and go “oooo”. Much like PlayStation Home (with a little less “oooo”). But CoX and every other MMORPG isn’t that.

An absolutely pointless lawsuit and will probably end up forking out cash themselves. That’ll learn them.
  9. After reading DreamWeaver’s helpful tips on cooking the bird (not missus, mind), I thought I’d add my sixpence and expand on the whole meal cooking experience for me.

It’s quite straight forward, but does take time.

(Obviously) Get the oven on to preheat over a 20-30 minute period (can’t remember gas mark) to make sure the oven is hot enough. Once heated, put the turkey (if you do some kind of stuffing, great – but not required) in breast-side down for the first hour. Slide in the tray of oil for the potatoes to heat.

Then peel (unless you prefer the skins on) and par-boil the potatoes for 10 minutes, drain and allow to cool down.

After the first hour has passed for the turkey, rotate it so that it’s breast-side up.

Start to prepare the vegetables (sprouts = bad emissions from my [censored], so that’s a no-no) to accompany the lonely turkey and spuds.

Rotated turkey again after the next hour and you should notice that there’s a lot less blood than last time. Take out the tray of oil and add potatoes. By all means, include rosemary and garlic (my fav!!) or sprinkle paprika over them. Adding parsnips in the same tray (if it’s big enough) works a treat. Otherwise boil them.

By the next hour, the turkey should be done (depending on the size of the turkey). To check (if you don’t have a meat thermometer), tilt the turkey so that you see the juices flow out. If it’s clear (i.e. fat and no blood), the bird is done. If it’s done, leave on tray and wrap in foil to keep the heat and allow the meat to relax.

You may need to raise the temp of the oven to help the roasties along to finish them off, unless you have 2 ovens, or arga. Cook the veggies, make the gravy and you’re done!

This is what I WON’T be doing this year, as I’ve paid someone else to do it.

Cerry Mismas and a Hippy Bonk Year to all!

Not a lot of sense in this offer as you get a months free time if you buy the game,so why pay 6months subs in one go for the same free time.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's not the same free time. It's extra free time if you choose to pay for 6 months in advance, on top of any game time you already have.

So, if you've just bought the game (for example, the beginning of December) you get 1 months of game time included. You then buy 6 months of game time. With the extra free month you get to play until the end of July (or there abouts). Then you need to slot more coins in the machine to continue playing.
  11. I don’t really see that there is an argument going on here, just strong differences of opinion.

I would have thought that having a chest detail as 'Ribbon' would be the easiest option, IMO. Unlocking it could be like, for example, the Vanguard costume pieces, but with paying on your account for £2 (as a possibility). This makes it entirely optional for the player, which the money goes to charity, namely DTWT. Is this not a cost effective option where NC can provide a little more cash to the charity and those who want it can?

Those players who want to support certain charities can (hopefully) without the "ooo, look at me" aspect of ribbons. At the end of the day, it's not about yourself - it's about other people, which is what we (as heroes, anyway) should be refining. If you do/don't want to wear a ribbon, it's your choice.

Is there a logo for DTWT? Maybe this could be included with the ribbon suggestion?
