It isn't

That's why Lucas had a new one made for Anakin's return to the light side of the Force in RotJ - the eyes were made larger, and their angle and the tilt of the brow was also softened to make the mask look less threatening. -
-
We slammed the STF on Justice last night in 1:21 - no stone Tank, no kin, no empath, no team wipes - just a radical rad and some shockingly excessive damage
-
He also used the word "engage", which is a kinda strage word to use in this context - engaging with the Incarnate system seems to imply some sort of limited invovlement.

Quote:It's evil when the "protection" involves murder, torture, slavery, repression and brainwashing - especially when there's a perfectly good sonic barrier that's doing the actual protecting.Since when is it evil to protect your citizens from a world destroyed by violent mutated tree-huggers and from extra-dimensional invaders who want to remove you from power merely because your alternate-dimensional self didn't have to make the same tough decisions you did?
The crimes of Tyrant and his stormtroopers are done to protect the dictatorship, not the people they're oppressing.
If there was no mass-murder, no "disappearances", no repression, no torture, no brainwashing, no slavery, no propaganda, the sonic barrier would still be there, and the Resistance wouldn't exist, because they'd have no reason to fight to be free if they were actually free - instead of humans fighting each other, they'd be united to drive back the Devouring Earth.
There's a total disconnect between the crimes against humanity that Tyrant and his stiff-armed thugs are carrying out 24/7 and the actual threat of the Devouring Earth.
Tyrant has defeated the Hamidon, and there's a sonic barrier protecting the people and their city - everything else the dictatorship does is designed to keep it in power, and impose Tyrant's insane hatred and fear of humanity and free will on the people he's enslaved. -
Quote:Every human being wants to be free to live their own life - freedom is the one basic requirement for everyone, because everything else comes from it.They're called universal because it's expected to be applied universally. It doesn't not speak for the credibility of said rights. So long as it's decided by a group of people which every member of the human race cannot choose, it is not legitimate, as you just mentioned in your following statement.
Tyrant and Mother Mayhem treat adults like childrenQuote:And as for your second statement, that depends on your definition of government. A similar society can be found in every household, where the parents make the decisions for the child. Are you claiming that the common model of the family is a model for how not to build a family?
No, because that would be harming others - killing isn't a moral solution to anything.Quote:In addition, if you mention "the will of the people", if the will of the people decided that we should obliterate or enslave a minority population because it's been causing so many problems, should that be done? Is that morally right? -
The devs think otherwise

Just off the top of my head, I can't actually think of any that come anywhere close to the evil shown Tyrant - sure, there have been some in the past that were big on that whole dictatorship, repression, brainwashing, torture, mass-murder and genocide and world conquest thing, but I don't think they're really thought of as models of good govenrment.Quote:We have several heads of state in the west that are worse. And pretty much none of them gets called evil here. -
Since the Pretorians were first added to the game, up to and including the release of GR and I19

Universal human rights are called universal for a reasonQuote:You speak as though there is a model. Name it.
(and before you name the universal human rights, let me note something about it: Who decided it? Everyone, or a select few?)
Any system that doesn't allow for every member of government to be removed by the will of the people is a moral failure, and is only a model for how not to build a society. -

It's an NPC/enemy mob that's never been added to the game, but the devs spawn them from time to time in Pocket D when there's a party on to amuse us
-
The devs do a lot of datamining to get gameplay stats and trends - the fact that the Incarnate system seems to be focusing more on team play than soloing seems to be a pretty big clue that their data feedback shows them that this is the way to go.
-
I hope that these serious replies are actually just sarcastic or playing along with it

Once the dictatorship is overhtrown, the hardcore anarchists in the Resistance will just end up like the Freakshow - a violent but manageable threat - the majority of the Resistance fighters will just start living normal lives once they're free of Tyrant.

Quote:If they were coding it now, they'd probably make him invisible and non-targetable.I think Je is right.
The Longbow Eagle is the anchor on the platform, so to speak. The engine just can't place a group like that without the arrangement getting muddled, unless they're all arranged in relation to the anchor, and that's where the Longbow Eagle comes in. Presumably, the specialty AVs can't be anchors, but only anchored to others. *shrugs* I'm no code monkey.
He's the rock the team is built on! -

Is the level Shift really the main bit of the Alpha slot though? Like isn't the slot unlock + Tier 1 the big one, as that gives you access to actual new Incarnate content?
A level shift is a nice bonus, but it's not really the main feature of the Alpha slot - that's the 2 new TFs. -
I think the main "problem" with the GR morality missions is that they've clearly been designed to be RP-friendly - like if you pretend to be a Paretorian, and use a Praetorian mindset for the missions, then they could be complex.
But if you don't RP, then for normal people, they're not really very diffcicult choices at all, because we're influenced by the real world and the game world, so we know that Tyrant is evil, and that his methods are evil too, as we've seen them being used by evil people in the real world, and in the game world.
For example, the choice to free the Seers is only difficult if you're thinking like a Praetorian, and imagining that you've been brainwashed with the lies of the dictatorship since you were born,, and are caught up in hte hystreria about "treachery" and the need for "security" that dominates the lives of the Praetorians.
But for normal people, we know that in both the real world and the game world, law enforcement forces don't require slavery or forced conscription to be effective - we know that police officers choose to do their job and risk their lives to protect people, just like we know that Heroes in the game world make the same choice, so when we're given a choice to free slaves or keep them enslaved because that would help "prevent crime", we know right away that that's a lie, as we have real world and in-game reference points to show that it's a lie, while if you're RPing as a Praetorian, then you have to imagine that you don't have those reference points, so you might genuinely believe that the Seers were required to keep people safe, and not being used as tools of repression.
The tutorial is another good example of the RP angle the devs have gone for in GR - if you play it through as someone who's obedient to authority, and never asks questions or talks back, then you get a totally different picture than the one you get if you question what you're being asked to do at every turn, and see the friendly facade of the PPD quickly fall apart. -
