Quote:And because all the old DA had were the zone spawns, that means that unlike Galaxy City, the echo of DA will give players access to everything that used to be in the zone.Fans of old Dark Astoria access it through Ouroborus, they get that too.
Players aren't losing the old DA at all - the devs are simply changing it's entrance point - instead of clicking on a PPD SWAT officer in Talos Island, you'll now click on a portal in Ouroboros - what's on the other side doesn't change at all. -
Quote:Both of those have improved the game. They also "loved" the CoT makeover, and they obviously "love" Praetoria, so at this point I'd suggest the devs immediately scrap any idea they "love."
The CoT revamp wasn't quite right at first, but they took onboard our feedback and gave all the levels and ranks the hidden faces and robe pieces. -
I think they do have plans for more zone revamps in future Issues - so a lot of the older stuff will be swept away.

Quote:Sure - they'll get faster progress than the current solo path, but still slower than the main Incarnate path of the Trials - the core endgame content gives the best rewards. To the contrary, little one, there will be an end to the trials - an end to their being an ill conceived impediment to whatever progress the solo players seek.
They said at the Player Summit that it's quite possible they'll do more solo Incarnate stuff after DA.Quote:My guess is that solo able iContent will have no end either - it is not a 1 time quik fix to a glaring omission of content for vital segment of this community.
Actually, according to Positron, they're some of the favorite content for the devs to make - they enjoy making them, and players enjoy playing them - they're a major asset to the game.Quote:Get over it, GG, and admit the trials are not very good; are not the ultimate creative effort of the dev staff & are definitely not for everyone. -
Quote:It has more variety than the older content, so it's better for replay valueI wonder how well all this inferentially non-embarrassing replacement content will hold up seven years hence...

After 7 years, an empty zone with nothing but zombie spawns in it doesn't hold up too well
-
You should make a new avatar and check out the tutorial - and then go to Atlas Park
-
Quote:But there isn't any content in DA right now - that's the whole pointThat's kind of implying the new content holds up any better, which is quite misleading. Rather than replacing and improving, they're simply trading old problems for new.

Replacing a zone with 2004 art assets and nothing but spawns of zombies with a zone with a new zone with 2011 art assets and Hero and Villain Incarnate story arcs is a massive step forwards. -
Quote:You do know that the Trials are the core endgame content and are never going to end, don't you?Everyone seems to have an obsession with keeping these idiotic raids alive. WHY? They're NOT a good idea for the long term health of the game, people burn out on them too fast for that.

We've already got 4 that are live, 2 more in beta, 1 more coming with the next Issue, strong hints of an 8th one for fighting Tyrant, and then there's ther whole Coming Storm to deal with - the endgame system has no end, so there's no end to the Trials.
They will be - but because they're easier to do than the Trials, they'll give slower progress than the the Trials.Quote:These solo and team contacts need to be worthwhile and offer a reward system that isn't cripplingly slow or stupid.
The Trials take longer to start, need more organization, and have harder enemies than solo content - so they give the best rewards. -
That's incorrect - the dev team was ramped up for GR, as that release required them to work on 4-6 zones at the same time, plus 4 sets of 1-20 story content, plus 2 sets of 20-50 Tip missions, plus the Incarnate system, as well as all the work on ultra mode and the massive "hidden" work needed to make side switching a reality.

She's Fusionette Incarnate.

Quote:That'äs because that'd make them vigilantes - and the game isn't called City of VigilantesVillains will always get the short end of the stick in terms of the co-op stuff. What's made that fact so much worse is the awesome villain story lines we've gotten like Dean, Vincent, the tips missions, and the Mercy content now. They've shown us that they can really make us feel like villains if they put their minds to it. I'd be willing to bet that any villain Incarnate paths stories will probably rock, but the trials and everything else will always be the put aside everything about yourself and do something out of character. It's just never the Heroes that have to do it.

This slide from the presentation was very interesting:
Quote:
In the future we will finally take on Emperor Marcus Cole in Praetoria.
* But then the Well has no champion
* That has no consequences
* Right?
* Not like anything is Coming
*In the background, there is the choice between the Well and Prometheus. Is there another option? -
By the way, on the UStream today, they heavily hinted that we'd find out who the Mysterious Letter Writer is during the new DA content.

Going by the screenshots, the vibe I'm getting from DA is of a dream/nightmare - the war walls are colored blood red, so the whole zone light seems to have a faint red tint to it - and combined with the giant bones and twisted rocks, it makes the place seem slightly unreal and hellish.
EDIT: Some mroe about the lore - Mot is waking up because he's responing to the amount of death and destricution that there's been inParagon City for the past few years.
There is heroic and evil content in the zone, but the main story line is co-op, but there are points in the storyline when you can do things that are good or evil, and the contacts will talk to you in a different way based on your morality.
The new Trial, "Dilemma Diabolique" sees Diabolique trying to become death incarnate by tapping into the power of Mot, and it's up to the players to stop her, and protect both Primal Earth and Praetoria form her - she'll also be wearing an upgraded costume.
The mission arcs and the Trial map have a lot of new art assets, including a "disgusting" moving fllor on the Trial, and take place not only in DA but "other palces" too. -
Quote:That's exactly what I said a few pages agoI could actually see DA becoming the new assembly point for trials since you won't have to just stand around in a league waiting for it to fill. You could actually street sweep and do something. While missions won't be an option, at least you can do something which has a return.
-
The screenshots from the summit are on UStream now, and Mot is totally the god of ROCK
-
And there'll also be a reduction in forming Trials too - like if there's a full team of 8 doing missions in DA, and a group of 5 street sweeping, a single invite will turn them into a league of 13, so that's an almost instant Lambda or MoM.
I think the DA zone broadcast will have quite a few messages about teams looking for Trials, rather than just individual players looking for Trials.
