Well, we don't know for sure yet who Primal Penny's mother is - although as she and Praetorian Penny both have huge psychic potential, the chances that Primal Vanessa is Primal Penny's mother are pretty good.

I asked on Facebook about any story updates in Faultline to reflect the passing of time, and got a vague "no comment" kind of answer

Quote:There's their argument in Fort TridentLet's face it, if you hadn't been around for the wedding and no player had told you about it then you'd be hard pressed to even demonstrate in the game that Justin and Shalice are married.
Another thing this does is that it really ramps up the tension between Manticore and Penny - in the leaked part of the 2nd SSA on beta, his distrust of her as the newest member of the Phalanx can now be interpreted as partly down to the fact that her very presence there is a constant reminder of who she's replaced. -

Quote:I kinda think that intercepting an assassin before they get to the room where their target is is a way better thing to do that waiting for them to arriveThe problem is, my "hero" left his charge and went off to do something that wasn't needed, and as a result wasn't present to help actually do something about the real threat.

Quote:The comics and novels don't really matter for this - the SSAs and any other story content aren't being targeted at multi-year vets who have picked up a lot of the lore - these are for fresh players and VIPs too - people who will only know as much about the characters as the game tells them, because that's their only reference point for the CoHverse. As for his past, we had an entire arc of the Top Cow comic that developed his background, which is way more than any other character had except maybe Statesman himself, and that only if we include the novels into the mix.
That's why the Phalanx are shown in the tutorial comic, and the tutorial itself, and why we get quite a bit of interaction with Manticore during Twinshot's arcs - since I21, there's been a big push to get more lore into the game, especially at the lower levels. -
I wonder if anyone will now turn up dressed as Manticore?

Quote:The feeling I'm getting is that the devs are going for something sort of like a "One More Day" style character reset for Manticore - they could think that the brooding loner vigilante with the tragic past role is a bit diluted by being happily married with the possibility of starting a family in the future - but rather than taking the "make-it-as-if-it-never-happened" route, they had him destroy the happiest part of his life by his own hand, which not only achieves the character reset, but also adds a fresh layer of personal tragedy, and in a way that players can experience the event. It's like Manitcore is the anti-Nemesis or something. No matter what happens, he manages to screw things up and only make the situation worse for himself. Even when his allies (ie. the Players) are "victorious" he still manages to snatch Defeat from the jaws of Victory. He's like the poster boy for LOSE AND FAIL right now.
Before, we just had the background lore telling us about the death of his parents being a defining event that helped to shaped his vigilante outlook - but now we have a new event that will shape his vigilante actions in the future, which we've actually seen ourselves, which helps give more depth to his character and motivations. -
By the way, I'm pretty sure that 2 of the emotes used by Manticore in the cutscene, along with the music, were done specially for it - which is a nice touch.

Quote:With her whole mind-riding thing, I'm kinda wondering if she hopped into Penny Yin's mind at the last minute, and will be "sleeping" in there for a while.New missions! Killing Psyche didn't stop the psychic explosion, so she dispersed her mind across all the minds she was connected with to spread out the power, her body was mediported and repaired but now she is in a deep coma and we have to search for the aspects of Psyche in the many minds she touched and put her mind back together.

Vocieovers for the Trials would be awesome - it'd help people who miss the text bubbles with the instrutions and hints - and as most of the Trials are guided by Prometheus, they wouldn't need to hire a large cast either

Another possible plot point is that the Praetorian Well is just called a "version" of the Well of the Furies, which could imply that humanity shares one single Well across the multiverse, rather than having sepearte Wells for each dimension.
That would explain why the Battalion, which so far seems to only be in the Primal dimension, is also a threat to Praetorian Earth - and why the Rikti would be under threat too, as they could still be attached to the human Well in some way. -

I'm also not totally sure that anything can be pay-to-win if it's also able to be earned in the game - that just makes it pay-so-save-time.
Like if they offered the 3 current Incarnate levels shifts in the market for 100 bucks each, that'd be a pay-to-save-time offer, because players could earn those 3 shifts without needing to use the market at all - but if they offered a bonus +4 and +5 level shift only on the market, then that'd be pay-to-win, as there'd be no other way to gain those boosts without spending real cash on them. -
Quote:It'd need a good explanation - The Hamidon and the Devouring Earth are mutations of the natural world, sp they can be formed just about anywhere - Lusca can swim into the harbor from the open sea, and Jack and Eochai are from the spirit world of Croatoa which is encroaching on the town of Salamanca.Really? How do we account for big walking crystals, rocks, and crab grass in Eden and elsewhere in the city? On the other hand, giant monsters of many types, including a massive octopus, a big green walking blob, a true giant (Jack of Irons), a monstrous walking Pumpkin, or massive granite or crystal creatures in the Hive or Peregrine Island, plague the city. Having a T-Rex, stegosaurus, or Brontosaurus is not beyond the game's reality.
Eden was a normal part of the city until the first Rikti invasion 10 years ago - so there'd need to be a plausible reason as to how a breeding population of dinosaurs had ended up there - and when two different groups in the game already give players the chance to time travel, it seems kinda simpler to just make a prehistoric zone. -
