    It's all together, I use footstomp and I use it often, heck most of the time its Ctrl+clicked to be on auto trigger. but even it misses, or sometimes enemies can't be knocked down. (like in the shadow shard against the floaters there... I forget their names) just like a PB or a WS, its situational. I tried to make it as rounded out for any situation I can get myself in, and as the screenshots show me going against 3/4 DM's and I'm hovering, so I can't use rock throw or foot stomp, but I'm still surviving because I'm using those two other skills (again can't remember the name cause I just woke up but those bee things that get summoned, those can get annoying with recharge). One hand-clap and boom, knocked away and everything recharges back up again

    And I just did a side-by-side of my build vs. Statics build..... Ummmm No.
    it drops my regen, relies heavily on IO's when my build is frankenslotted for as much regen as possible.

    Just finished modifying another possible build, not sure if I messed it up or not. (where the heck is my coffee already!?!)

    This build I designed in the mindset that I could have unlimited funding to support it.
  2. And just like I knew would happen, someone jumps in, neg reps me anonymously (or so they think) and trolls correcting my spelling and grammar.
    "srs bsns. Also, "could of" doesn't mean anything. It's could *have*."
    Are you freaking serious?

    Remember flamers with your neg-rep comments. The Devs/Forum mods CAN see who sent them... even if we cannot.

    It does, however, say "Online Interactions Not Rated".
    That's because the ESRB cannot possibly rate a dynamic environment, however it does not give a person free reign to be a guttermouth when the rules that make up for the "missing rating" clearly state that it is not allowed.

    As thats said, Yes I do swear. And yes I keep it to completely private channels and only with close friends that I know well. If I team with someone I don't know, my V-Chip implanted in my brain goes active. My issue here is, You should know about the "overbearing parent with a axe to grind" They tend to look over their kids shoulders from time to time, heck install remote monitoring software if they are real paranoid. Then they see someone swearing up a storm in broadcast... Welp, that kids net just got pulled. This kind of stuff does happen often as well (as its happened to me when I was in my teens) and I was without internet for a year. If your gonna play-fight and argue with your buddy, do it in team or tells, don't show the whole server just how bad your language can be by blasting it all over the global channels.
  3. Hand-clap and fear if used properly are actually very useful. For instance, my handclap is slotted with taunt, and for the guys that get knocked back, well they are stunned, no real danger there, besides most people attack the center mass, if the blasters want, they can pick off the sides while they stagger around.
    Also theres also such a thing as too many mobs surrounding you, there comes a point when damage vs. regen starts to tip the scales where they are just doing more damage than you can possibly regenerate (currently My last regen with a devmonster and about 4-5 ritki monkeys under me was about 200hp a sec.)
    when damage beats out regen, your hp is gonna dip, and more mobs is not gonna make that come back up. Rise to the challenge has a cap, just like taunt. Hence the hand-clap, knocks some of them away (as its guaranteed to miss quite a few, just enough to slow down the damage output so regen outweighs damage, even for a moment because all you need is a few seconds to get half your health back.)
    fear on the other hand. works GREAT against minions. and minions are my main problem. besides, I don't do boss farms, and when you play maps and content, 90% of the maps is minions and lieus. pretty open to being hit with fear. Keeps them planted (and still giving you regen) but, they don't damage you, again giving you precious seconds to regen your health when your bottoming out.
    the hand-clap and fear were pretty well thought out when I chose them IMHO.

    As for the slotting.... well you can totally blame jack for that, seeing how last time I played a tank.... CoV was being announced to go on the shelves a couple weeks later. (heck that was the last time I ended up playing CoX due to financial constraints until 3 months ago)
    handclap and fear stay put I've come to love them as a tool of damage mitigation when used properly and haven't heard anybody whos teamed with me say anything about them.

  5. A AE bug that nobody has stumbled upon I would assume. Will end up posting this in my bug thread as well.

    In Test mode in the AE, if you rez using a wakie and hit "Invincibility On" while you are rising, of course you end up in the stunned mode, however it NEVER wears off (till you die again) You will stagger around everywhere, you can still attack, you can fly at the stunned speed however your character bugs out and stays in the "stunned" animation. (even says Stunned under your hp/sp/xp bar)
    That and if you turn on invincibility when dead and attempt to rez you die immediately afterwards.
    Or, heres one for a lark... Trick your friends and have them "test" out your mission. Head in, run for the first mob, stop short, let your friends barrel right in and click their names and click "Kill Target" in the Architect Options. Watch them faceplant one-by-one.
    Even funnier when theres no enemies around them, like just before they reach the mass they fall down dead. Good for a few chuckles, till they learn how to do it back >.> I think I wasted about 3 rezzes in the middle of a bunch of mobs before my coalition-mate informed me they found the button... >.>

  7. Had to dig this up because with my old build (haven't been able to afford the new one yet, only have 39 mil) I ended up being epically epic in PI today. So much so that a coalition mate literally said, "I HAVE TO SEE THIS" and epically faceplanted a few minutes later when they finally arrived. XD

    ^The 4th one joined in here.^

    By the way, this is me going up against 4 DevMonsters in the northernmost part of PI
    And no, I didn't faceplant.... till I stopped paying attention and was chatting in the midst of it.
    and for those who say there isn't 4 monsters there, you should know, in PI, they travel in pairs. not odd numbers

Now I will admit that point also applies to older people who can be just as ignorant and non caring as the next generation too.

    Point being... I don't feel that this is a subject that will get you "flamed" unless some of those same ignorant people jump into the forums and decide to mock you or make fun of your stance. At that point it's truly not being flamed... merely being mocked by ignorant people.

    Now I'm rambling.... LOL

    EDIT: just noticed that one of my words got bleeped... it is a female dog that ends in "ing"
    just proof positive that the filters are pretty indiscriminate, granted it still uses a form of profanity for that specific word however 90% of default filters also catch other things that have a type of profanity in them like "Assume" for example or "Harassment"
  9. Now, before I start, I already know I'm going to get flamed, called a troll and a bunch of other things anonymously with neg-rep comments. I don't care.

    Profanity, the "Filter" and, You.
    First off I would like to say, Just because theres a filter available doesn't give you the right to use your "elite language skillz" in open chat.

    Secondly the City of Heroes/Villains Rules of conduct that you agreed to upon paying your subscription, logging into the boards or, logging into the game clearly state under number "3" as the following,
    "You may not use sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language."
    Number "1" states,
    "While playing City of Villains, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players."
    If someone asks you politely to stop using profanities over open chat where everybody and their mother can see (filter or not) then do so and respect the other players. It's supposed to be a friendly game with a friendly environment.

    Just because your "Redside" does NOT give you free reign to do whatever you please. The difference in the rules from redside to blueside....
    NONE.

    So please, think before you spam the chat with about 5-10 "Suck my..." and ask yourself, "Can I get banned for this?"

    Yes... Yes you can.

    Granted I'm not a redname however I do have a tendency to read every legal document presented before me because I'd rather follow the rules and enjoy my game play than get banned for doing something stupid I could of avoided by simply reading a short document.

    Now, as it says nothing about the profanity filter in the User Agreement I'm going to say something here that is personal opinion.

    The profanity filter is not there so you can swear up a storm and tell whoever doesn't like it to turn it on so they don't have to deal with it. Personally they shouldn't have to deal with it in the first place.
    Keep it to SG, Coalition, Team channels and, Tells. Keep it off of Broadcast, Local, Request and, any other global channels besides private ones so the general populace doesn't have to deal with guttertalk.

    Now, I know your saying, "But you just stated a exception!" Only when it's not actively disrupting anybodies game play. If your entire S/VG swears like sailors, keep it in the S/VG channel. If someone you invited to your S/VG doesn't appreciate profanity, honestly they have a choice here and they should take it. Simply leave the S/VG. Same with Teams, just leave. Tells, global ignore. Coalition, Break it. However if it becomes extreme even after a polite request to "tone it down" (harassing tells, S/VG/Coalition Chat quickly becoming a quagmire of directed profanity, Teams becoming verbally abusive) Then by all means, write a petition, There is a "Harassment/Conduct" radio button there for a reason. Use it.

    Global and Broadcast/Local channels should NEVER be subjected to your "Colorful" language as many people really don't want to see what new 4-letter word you just learned and watch you spam it across the channels where everybody can see it.

    These people need to realize that "T" for teen means in the "City of" world as "Suggestive themes" (I figure this means the skin-tight outfits and such...) and "Violence". I don't see it saying "Strong Language" (which according to the ESRB means, "Explicit and/or frequent use of profanity" anywhere on the box. Do you? No.

    The rules are not a "guideline" they are rules, they are meant to be followed.
    Felt I should quote something from a recent movie in here, "Profanity is a vice. He who uses it, is no gentleman."
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ways to Avoid the inevitable
    Granted theres alot of people who don't read the rules (Including the inf farmers and inf spammers - Not speaking of the inf farmers who don't do it for profit)
    and you will eventually see profanity(for some reason theres more of it in PvP zones than anywhere else... o.O).
    But what if you don't want to see it? What if you don't want your kids to see it?
    Well first answer is to not play the game. But that's not all that fun now is it?
    The main option you do have is in the options under the general tab under the "Chat" heading. Enabling the profanity filter here will clean up quite a bit of the chat replacing it and keeping it from view. However this will not filter peoples creative typing skills to get around the filters.
    If you have the filters off (because they annoy you like myself when they filter completely harmless words just because they have whats considered profanity in them) Remember you have the Petition tool.
    If you are going to fill out a petition against someone for excessive profanity, Sometimes a tell to that person is enough to quell their outbursts but sometimes it will end up just stoking the fire causing more outbursts.
    Basically if it gets beyond tolerable levels a good format for a petition is the following,
    /petition character name - (reason for petition)
    It's always a good thing to C&P the offending chat into the petition with a short reason why you are filing the petition. This will move the petition along quicker (or at least it should).
    Remember always try to at least difuse the situation before sending in a petition.
    I know some people don't care how much someone swears over open chat however the rules state and expressly forbid such use of language.
    If your on a team and there is profanity being tossed left and right and it is bothering you, ask politely if they could stop. If they continue, that team isn't for you and the easiest way to handle it is by leaving the team.
    Same with super/villain groups. Too much profanity, theres a quit button. Solves the issue quickly.
    For all the people who have the knee-jerk reaction that want to tell me, "If you don't like it, quit yourself!" Yeah, I don't like the excessive profanity thrown about in open chat, but its the gameplay and the good players that keep me coming back. The pros far outweigh the cons.
    So above all try to enjoy the game because in the end, thats what it is. A game. Nothing more.
    (For the person who gave me neg rep citing, "useless non-guide is useless" perhaps you haven't noticed that it has been modified a bit to make it a bit more guide like. If you have suggestions you can do it better than making some backhanded comment in my rep window.)
  10. Nother bug, this one has been around since before i16 for me and is annoying as all heck.
    I'm on my 50 rad/kin corrupter and I'm unable to attack jack squat, sometimes I get lucky and can hit fulcrum shift on a guy or two, but other than that because of getting the Invalid Target message over and over again, I'm completely useless.
    Seriously NASTY bug out there now... Has to do with the salvage containers inside of bases. Remember how I said if you alt+tab to another window (like a yahoo messenger window like I did) that the salvage container outline will go from red to blue? Well if you actually set it down afterwards, one of your salvage containers will vanish.... In this case it was the one with ALL my rare salvage in it... >.>
    Attempting this same trick with other stuff that comes up red has.... unexpected results, like the mainframe turning into a small LCD...
    same with the combo control unit, it turns into a small LCD...
    Seems like everything turns into a small LCD when it has a red outline...
    And now my base is missing its lowest floor, taken not 3 minutes ago...
    This is actually intresting, I'll be compiling data on this when I get back from the store.
    Nothing... Nothing can be done because unfortunately somebodies toes are gonna get squashed by some change and they will be the next person to say something about it >.<
    Just the way MMORPGS are...
    And by the way, that link helped alot.
  12. Just wanted to throw this up here, (not sure how old some of these commands are and if they changed or not since thier posting) but, City of Heroes Bind Macros
    Might give you a few more ideas on new keybinds with Khelds, thats how I got started.
    wut?
    sorry, I'm half asleep here, she usually passes out at her compy so I boot her off the team where she idles to logout.
    and I apologize, I think its barracuda that gives out that mission. It's been like 2 months since I've done it.
    Another that has to do with halloween costumes,
    the "PPD Swat Officer costume"
    Follow cam is not centered on the head but instead centered about 3"-5" inches (guestimate game distance) from the front waist line.
    She only plays on freedom, my main server. And she will show up online, after shes logged off.... and I've logged off. and logged back in, 8 hours later (after I wake up) it will still show her online.
    If he wasn't there it would be worth doing an in-game bug report since it sometimes happens that objective NPC's 'disappear' from missions.
    Yeah I've seen them at times, on the Recluse Strike Force Mission against Requiem.
    Just seems odd that something like that would happen and I did do a in-game /bug (but its not like anybody reads those for about 3 months anyway according to the rednames on the board)
    but its a one-time thing I hope. Today has just been weird.
    I should of put the whole clue up then, because Import is not the proper term to use in the entirety of the clue message itself. and for being in "Fancy handwriting" it should of been importance. and yea I just corrected myself... >.> lol
    However, may I suggest then you approach the enemies in Dwarf form, then when they're all around you, use a keybind that switches you to Human-form and executes Pulsar at the same time, then use your Human-form heal power(s) before switching back to Dwarf/Nova or mixing it up with more Human-form powers like Solar Flare or Photon Seekers? (when you have them, of course). It works wonders for me, so I just thought I'd share...
    Trust me, the tactic can work wonders both to defeat enemies quickly and to entertain your teammates, especially if while you perform this trick, you also use the following as your battlecry: "I *am* the Omega Bomb!". Many a Crab-spider have laughed... and one once told me: "Yes... yes you are!"
    I think I posted eariler my current warshade/peacebringer keybinds, you could have a look at those and add/change whatever so I could give em a shot
    Oh, it did happen, but I think that was a once-in-a-lifetime experience as the next time I tried, I promptly faceplanted because I was mezzed before I could pull Pulsar out my butt and by the time I shifted to dwarf, I was down to 15hp.
    One more hit and I was sucking on the concrete. lol
    Was still awesome though, even though I burned out all my endurance in those few moves because everything I can slot for damage is slotted up.
  18. New one, global friends list. This has happened on a few occasions, its showing people online who haven't been online since last night. When right clicked all you get is "Remove" and "Chat" But it still shows their character name that they played last as "Online" even though they aren't.
    as much as I hate to bash the dev's proofreading ability, they missed yet another mission clue.
    Contact: Sunstorm
    Mission: Defeat all foes on cargo ship
    Bug: The clue dropped from the council guys at the start says the following,
    Quote:
    ... Brave soldiers of the Council;
    Know that this mission is of particular import to me ...
    Yes I know its tiny and should say "Important" seeing how further down on the clue it does indeed say Important there properly.
    (stuff like this just annoys me when I'm trying to get into the background of a class I haven't really toyed with.)
    GAH! Another one from Sunstorm...
    Note, that body on the ground was shadowboxing, saying "We've been doublecrossed!" After I killed him it said he was a council lycan
    and the defeat text said, "You found some orders on the defeated Penumbra Elite Archon"
  19. On the topic of HEAT's I was just in a full team with +4 enemies. As a joke (and assuming I was gonna faceplant hard right off the bat but had a self-rez from a earlier bank mission)
    I roared out the usual blaster warcry, "Here, hold my beer and watch this!" (this is with my PeaceBringer btw)
    and hit off build up, stormed into the middle of them in human form, hit Pulsar, 3-shotted the quantum in the midst with Incandescent Strike/Radiant Strike/Gleaming Bolt, then flipped to Dwarf form, popped off White Dwarf Flare, flipped to Nova and shot off Nova Scatter and Detonation.....
    Welp... That room was cleared real quick... and I was only level 21 exemped down to 18 ^_^
    For once the HEAT actually felt... Well Epic.
  20. Well to completely derail this thread (in a sense) I would like to put out that this epic flamewar of sorts has me re-rolling a warshade and I'm starting from point zero as a human. All the way through. period. XD
    [edit]Wow, balancing out defense with endurance usage at low levels is a toughie... lol [/edit]
  21. Another one having to do with the Extinguishers and HEATS, human form, use the extinguisher so it appears on your character, then switch to either yer squid or Huge hulking brute of a alien and you will still see the extinguisher on the different form.
    Rescue the Captives mission from Sunstorm, Peacebringer mission Arc
    Clue from the file cabinet "Order for Transfer" has HORRIBLE grammar.
    On top of it all, I can't tell what power it is, but every time theres a mass of enemies somebody uses a power that causes this large red flash out of nowhere, I think it has something to do with either claws or spines. Anyway it crashes my client EVERY TIME. a hundred other powers can be flying left and right, but the second this specific power hits, its endgame. *CRASH*
Of course, it's up to BABs to decide.
    I'm sure they would of taken care of it a long time ago because I've noticed blasters and defenders do the same thing with their animation. Me personally its just another tactic I employ. besides, even if it did root you, just at the start of the firing animation sequence you can shut off fly and drop down from the sky behind a fence or something as well creating the same effect.
    Personally I see it better off left in the game because it adds some extra thought and herding ability before you nuke the lot of em.
    Now back to your regularly scheduled HEAT programming... And I don't mean wrestling
  24. As much as I hate Teleport, finally got a WS past level 6 so at least now I got Nova for travel. Enjoying it pretty well.
    Not sure if this will help out many people but I figure it might, its my Keybind file for my Warshade. (Human skills go into tray 1 and 4. two trays at least have to be open and available. Nova skills into tray 2 and Black Dwarf skills into tray 3)
    Granted you could probally make another keybind as well that will allow you to shift into human form and fire off stygian circle and allow you to shift back into whatever form you were playing before too with a little tweaking and playing with the powexec commands.
