Dark offers more healing and Poison more debuff, is that right? Storm is damage boost? How do they compare in control?

I'll play purely PvE, in teams as often as I can get them, but I'd like to be able to solo as needed. I like making active choices in a fight, especially when they vary with the situation and enemy. I'm less interested in a powerset that requires me to be active only in the sense of constantly reapplying the same powers.

Which sounds like the best fit?
Pain is the Healing class. Seriously if your quick on the target those heals are some of the best single-target ones I've seen.

It is also known that there is indeed a memory leak with the base editor... one of the reasons synapse suggested several months ago that we keep base items to a 20k limit (least, that's my understanding of his explanation).
Yeah otherwise the base may corrupt and become unuseable and will need administrative intervention to correct the problem >.> Hence why I'm taking it easy on second floors for rooms.

But, then I happened to click on the energy terminal room and, although no room was created, my prestige dropped to -50,000 9because the room costs 100,000). So now I'm under water with my base unless I revert it but don't want to do that because I'd like a gm to correct it. *grump*

Edit: a few minutes later, it seems to ahve fixed itself or a gm intervened without actually interacting with me.
This seems to be happening randomly, perhaps a memory leak in the base code causing the prestige value to invert (a + flipping to a -) that has happened to me about 3 times now in the past and including my most recent issue with this. Normally the system catches it and reverts it back to a positive integer however this does pose a problem for active base editing and issues as well with the base code itself.

I'm usually not doin jack anymore in game cause it seems alot of it has died out so far on the servers I play (or people are just being exceptionally quiet) and I'll help you out no matter what server your on no charge.

Even if a player chooses to use the regular enhancments like TO's, DO's, and SO's, a million inf is more than enough to cover replaceing them every 5 levels until they get to the higher levels and start earning more influence.
Yeh, I wish I got THAT lucky... Drops... don't get me started. In the lower levels it seems that only yellows and oranges produce drops of any kind till you hit around 10, then it starts evening out. And depending on the Market, what server your on and who's buying what makes all the difference when trying to get enough cash to spec a starter.

NUUUUU! Don't nuke Freedom! My barely-active-but-struggling-VG-with-the-semi-large-base-and-nearly-full-teleporters is on that server! 2 months of work on that base.... For nothing, even though right now... it is pretty much nothing.
(Not any worse than this one SG I used to be in on Pinnacle... The Base upkeep hasn't been paid since August and everything was non-functional. So I guess I'm not that bad.

Playing around on my energy/sonic corrupter in Rest, Sonic Dispersion can be activated even though it affects someone else, but won't trigger until you come out of rest mode.

Sonic Dispersion should just fail to activate period when in Rest mode.

Myself, if I found an SG that had members on at my hours and who'd team with me, I'd happily enlist every toon I have in it, or at least be more than happy to say something like "I have a Bots/Dark MM who could really help us here, want me to go get her?" or something. Here's why: one thing I've seen in a couple of the SGs I joined was that they tended to be "Here's me, all my alts and all the alts of two or three of my friends, plus some lowbie nobodies we recruited via broadcast and rarely speak to," so I'm not sure about the "enlisting all my alts" thing there. I wouldn't want to be part of that sort of set-up.
Almost the same deal with mine currently, just me, a few of my alts and another guy I recruited at one point when I first started thats stuck around for quite awhile and some of his alts just to stave off the drop in bonus prestige incase more members flee for the hills. But thats about it. Got a small coalition started and working on more, figure if we have other VG's in a Coalition with us that would = More people to team with (hopefully) and the plausability of more people joining my VG might increase. Though somehow I highly doubt it.

    - The supergroup's members, which were recruited through spamming broadcast, all go inactive. (I'm guilty of it too, sure.)

    - The supergroup members are members in name, so they are on the roster, but none of them wants to team with you, and try to avoid teaming with you. Same with whoever is on the coalition.

    - The small SG/VG keeps telling me to make prestige, put on SG/VG colours, whatever, so they can build up. I do play in SG mode but I don't like people getting anal about what I have to do.

    - And I play at weird times so everyone in the SG/VG is offline when I play.

So at the end of the day, I see a start-up SG/VG become a dead SG/VG, and then I just quit and go back to my 2 person "SG", where at least I know is quite comfy and has lots of space to dump my stuff
Hey Freem, Wanna join a VG? XD Honestly theres nearly 10 places to dump salvage, a place to dump insps, IO's and SO's or whatever, I don't require anything really, don't need SG mode on (its helpful though as I just expanded the bases building area recently) But I tend to grind out most of all the prestige needed for about anything myself.

Or if you don't... Know any suck....I mean Villains who might want to?

And Psy, its VBulletin, Your @Global may be suspended however anything like removing you from the boards would need to be done manually. So your pretty much here to stay until the forum gods get bored of you. XD

I have found that small groups expect their early members to be leaders; to recruit, to build, to create teaming and stories, and so on. I, myself, am not a leader. I can be an excellent follower -- I roleplay decently; even creatively. I put a lot of effort into my characters, and people often enjoy being around them in my company. I can play often, and can earn large amounts of prestige. I don't like seeing new groups I put my heart into dissolving because they couldn't get up to critical mass. So, my criterion for joining a SG/VG is that it meet a threshold of consistent activity. Once there, I can add to it; I can play a lot, I'm creative, respectful, and while I absolutely will not lead, I can be a good, supportive team member.

The stage of a group where it needs to grow is one where you need certain kinds of players; people who enjoy, or at least tolerate, those early development roles; and are willing to risk the group not making it. Some of us just aren't those kinds of people.
Yeah, I don't consider myself leadership material, however I am a motivated individual (got the whole base up and going with full teleporters before even recruiting my first person in it) But yeah, alot of people are pretty much 1 of 3 types, 1. Looking for the "Easy" way to get teams and level, 2. Wanting something active, a decent amount of chatter and a team here and there to join. or 3. Looking to be the helpful foundation to move another SG/VG up the ranks on the boards.

That said, I've been part of new groups before and I find that the experience is either very rewarding or very antagonistic. Not much grey in between the two, in my experiences, which is a shame.
I don't either, the problem is too the size of the S/VG doesn't mean much. I'm on a SG blueside on freedom.... its fully loaded with over a hundred members. Anytime I come on (random times during the day all days of the week) NOBODY is on. and I've stuck through this far however I'm giving it another week then just gonna say audios and probally try to make a SG blueside.
Yeah, just swamp myself with having to set up another website, build another base, recruit more members.... Ok, I'm not doing that. screw that. lol Moving on!
And yeah I've tried several tactics to recruit as well (cept doin the whole gargoyle thing, I won't stoop that low) And nobody is biting. Even the people inside the VG have been on here and there but besides staying on CoH for a full 24 hours to try to catch someone online, I can't seem to grab anybody.

But oh well, perhaps soon I might end up with a flood of members I don't know what to do with sometime in the future. As for all the people that join S/VG's on ANY server and leave within a few minutes... You need to stop being so picky. I once joined a starter before, I was number 3 in the roster and kept going at it. By the time a month was up, the entire roster was full, the base was huge and there was no less than 15 people online at any given time. So you never know people, that up and comer may be the next big thing. (Not me of course, Mine is gonna always suck because I ended up typoin the name upon creation. Villians instead of Villains and the GMs can't fix it)

And Psychoti, I'm shocked you would even post on this. Your too cool for this school. XD

Sometimes its just ignorance that feeds that fuel to take stuff out of the salvage racks and sell them when you need inf. Theres two sides to that coin, people who do it on purpose and some people who didn't really realize they shouldn't of done it in the first place.
    Hence a demotion as punishment.
  11. Personally, offline SG invites and Promotion-demotion would be nice. like if you promote someone to the point they can access most of the storage in the sg base and they go offline, later you hear they like to ninja stuff out of them to sell and you want to demote them so they can't, but you cant because they aren't online. It's worthless really and a huge risk to not have this feature.
  12. Well thanks for that, honestly it's not all about my VG alone, I've joined a few that were up and comers (and still a part of them as well grinding out prestige to help them get along) and I see it all the time, not just mine but all the others. We have vent, but its not on a stable server so I don't advertise it much. We have a site that I put over 40 work-hours into to set up, redesign and code modules for it so we have a VG roster and application process.

Kinda reminds me of how much work I've put into my Social Networking site. I'm used to doing ALOT of things solo... Doesn't mean I enjoy it. >.>

CoX (Originally owned by Cryptic) Had the set up first, had the idea first. If you actually take a good hard look at CO you will notice that 90% of it is a direct rip from CoX. Whos copying who? Alien invasion for the training?
    Yellow streakyness with superspeed?
    The EXACT same Flight animations?
Color customization? CoX had it in development first. NCSoft is well known for keeping everything hush-hush then whipping out new updates when we least expect it (Like i16 for example, barely anybody knew that it was comin out till it got dropped into our lap)

As for the idea that Castle posted. I would be totally stoked if you guys implemented something like that! Add a emote and I'll spit-shine your sneakers (your geeks, I know you guys don't wear boots... )
  14. I find it funny how everybody wants to join a "Active" SG/VG and nobody wants to join the lowly startups.
I've worked well over 2 months on my VG base, have been selective of recruits and not so selective doing open recruiting in Cap with a few replies and invites with them leaving a few days later because its not "active" enough for them.

Heres the problem, a SG/VG will never gain that fabled "Active" status if people join just to leave because its not active enough! Join the SG/VG and stick around! Grab some of your friends perhaps, pull them in too! I mean jeeze, When everybody has the ability to recruit they should DO SO! (I'm not talking from my own experience in my own VG alone, I mean the SG's I'm in and the VGs I'm in on several servers. I like helping the up-and-comers unlike most people I've run into)

Honestly this is insane and immensely stupid. This is why some people give up on having a SG/VG. Heck some people quit the game because of this (not me, I love it too much ). But just once I would like to see people willing to join a small-playerbase VG just to help it grow, not because they just want uber teams so they can hit that 50 and rarely ever sign into that toon ever again.

Anybody elses thoughts? (And yes I'm recruiting, Yes I have a small playerbase, but a rather large VG base with all the grinding and inf from the BlackMarket I've dumped into it at horrible exchange rates for prestige to build the dang thing.)

  16. I'm a webdesigner at heart, the site is based off of nuke evolution with multiple self-mods that still work from my original developer days when I was assisting with the coding processes of it alongside technocrat. been awhile but I still got the touch apparently. lol
  17. Honestly this is the ONLY forum I could even remotely see as being relative to what I wanted to post and ask from the general CoX populace.

I just got done with a all night bender (cause I couldn't sleep and now I'm about to crash) And I wanted some feedback on it.

http://original-villains.co.cc Soon to be my VG Website once I'm finished tweaking the rest of the graphics here and there and I wanted some brutally honest opinions about it.

(If you say lose the flash, I'll say upgrade your computer or install flash.)

Other than that, its pretty well based around the CoV world (with some help of its fanpack) and is sure to need a few more graphical tweaks.
(give it mebby a minute tops to load the first time, after that its all cached locally and server side)

I'm not entirely sure what causes it, but I found it typically breaks when you hit build-up sometimes and attempt an AS while the build-up animation is still playing. Other powers may also affect it.

Using an accolade (and probably other powers) will actually cause the animation to play correctly after, even if the accolade isn't recharged, simply clicking its icon will fix the animation for awhile until you do whatever it is that causes it to enter the broken state again.

Changing costumes or zoning seems to break it occasionally. This is for the new stalker AS animation for martial arts (I don't know if the default is broken as well).
I've had problems of a diffrent sort with teleport self. well, the Warshade version anyway. I have a macro that works on shift+click. Shift+click=pop up where I clicked
now its just kinda random, sometimes it will fire, other times it will double-fire so I will teleport to the new location and have the same teleport reticle up even though I didn't shift click again. My macro hasn't changed since i15 and it was working perfectly fine then where I could shift+click my way pretty much anywhere that was within LoS. Now its 50/50 for a failure and a huge crater to the ground into a bunch of aggro mobs.

Personally I think that the hover time alloted should be stretched out a second or two, perhaps with a actual temp hover so you can move slightly or a way to shut it off manually.

(Lag kills... Especially with teleporting... >.>)
  19. Tweak taskforces, LEAVE FLASHBACKS ALONE!

All flashbacks are just regular missions hence any mission setting you have should be valid for those paticular missions. However the Mender TF and any other TF's should have the -1 option non-functioning and force it to be 0 or +n.
  20. For the PM I recieved eariler I will make my response here as well,

Editing my base, I have 17 people in the SG (above the 15 person limit for the prestige bonus) working on the base I exit out of the items and take a look at my work, return to the main room and re-open the tool. negative prestige

Supercomputer bug, simply deleted all the trophy cases (cause those have to be done one-by-one) and then deleted the room. If anything else in there was made using "special salvage" (i.e. vet rewards, badge rewards and such) I would of recieved a pop-up. No pop-up shown and the room deleted. The Supercomputer is no longer a selectable option for the base.

Its On freedom, its My SG "Original Villians" (Originally a typo and the devs said they can't fix it but I've put too much work into it to just recreate it and lose all the prestige already earned)
And my name on Freedom is Garasene Demon or, Gen. Harry Johnson or, Bane Recluse.

  21. No clue on any of that mess, however new bugs cropping up
Negative prestige biting me in the butt when I clearly have about 200k

thats the thing about the presence pool. it gets the masses of minions off me so I can concentrate on the heavy hitters. (also helps with aggro control in teams in case I pull too much and hit cap)

Apparent peacebringer bug, used to be buffs would carry over when you switch forms, (like build up or essence boost) if you switch to human, hit your buffs and switch back, essence boost stops healing right there, your build up is wasted (sorry dwarfs) and I'm pretty sure this wasn't the way it was pre-i16. As for your issue Ozzie, I had the same issue here and there pre i16. but it was few and far between.
  24. I'll give this a shot on my other build (that I never completed, was more crowd control with the earth Epic pool but I never liked it) and see how it plays. Next up, my corruptor which I KNOW is gonna be torn to shreds. lol

Just realized my tank is as broke as broke can be with only 7 mil inf... EEK! I don't feel like grinding today however.

I will keep your build in mind however after comparing the two I noticed it has a bit better defense/resistance and regen rate. So I'm all for it. I'll probally start working on it next week.
