  1. I slot common IOs at 15, 25, and 35. It's much easier and cheaper than replacing all of your TOs, then DOs, then SOs every 3 levels. I usually don't get into sets until I hit 50. By the time I get there I usually have enough inf. to slot out one or two powers (sometimes more). I do not farm so I think this is the best method for someone like me. I do play the market a little but I'm not that proficient at it. I make a little money there but I'm no high roller.

People don't need to comment on your AE arc in order to rate it. If and when they do make a comment, it will come in as a tell to your global name. If you are offline when the comment is made it will pop up the next time that you log in. If you are online at the time and in the middle of something it could be that you missed it.
  3. I have never really played PvP but I'm interested in trying it out. Would anyone be willing to suggest an inexpensive build for my level 47 bots/therm to get started? I have a VG that is all MMs and I will probably have backup for this too.

    Edit: He's 48 now.

IR is a movement power, that's all, so it doesn't need to be in your "attack tray". SB and ID don't interact directly with enemies, so they don't need to be there.

Kinetics is a very clicky powerset. It keeps you very busy in that sense, and I can't think of another powerset that plays out feeling quite so... clicky.

If you're a mouse player, then using all 3 trays at once shouldn't be a problem.

If you're a keyboard player (which I am), then I'd advise you to bind your team-mates 1-8 to the numberpad keys 1-8, and then bind SB to 0 and ID to ALT+0, or another neighboring key.

For my kins, I also bind Transfusion and Transference onto the numberpad for being able to quickly boost team-mates off of their own target. I also bind in Read Fortune, and use numpad 9 to switch between my team-mate's living pets, if I have the time to SB and ID them too.

If you suffer from a physical disability (as many CoX players do), then you might find Kinetics a particularly challenging set to manage. In which case, do whatever you can

ETA: I'm sorry if any of this sounds harsh or like there's people "telling you how to play your character". I truly believe that you'll find a use for Dark Blast and that it's an important source of your DPS. However, at the end of the day, play whatever feels fun to you.
Okay, I should have been more specific instead of just saying attack powers. By attacks I meant both attack powers and debuffs, anything that I click to use on an enemy. I already have the binds set up for buffing. Yes, I am a keyboard player and no I'm not handicapped. I wouldn't be asking for help if I didn't think I needed it so no I'm not offended by your helpfulness.

P.S. I don't know why it made a new post when I tried to edit this.

You can't afford to take 4 seconds out to cast Moonbeam, and none of your other attacks are dishing out as much damage as quickly as those two are. They are your highest Single Target DPS attacks.
Okay, I can see your point but like I said I only use moonbeam for pulling mobs. I don't use it in fights. I already have 10 attacks and only 8 fingers (I don't use my thumbs). There are only 10 slots to a tray anyway. I can't put any more attacks in tray 1 which is where all of my attack powers are. Actually, I'd have to look but I think it's really 11 and there's already one power that I'm not using. Maybe I do have room for leadership then I just need to decide on 4 powers that I can do without.

Thanks guys, I'll probably do a hybrid of the advice both of you gave. I guess I wasn't clear enough but the biggest problem with the build as it is now is Mez. I know I can't get alot of protection from Mez directly but someone told me I should work on defense and that would help with everything. I try to load up on break frees all the time anyways but it would be nice if I didn't need to use them as much. I use stealth all the time and invis is for ghosting missions. I do alot of SFs. I like the idea of slotting sprint for stealth as well. I see no reason to slot brawl because I quit using it on all of my toons by level 25 anyway. I forgot to put them in my mids but I just have 1 run SO in sprint and 1 recharge SO in rest right now. As far as taking dark blast over moonbeam I don't like that idea. I use moonbeam for pulling mobs and I already have more attacks than fingers so I see no need to add another attack that I probably won't use anyway. I normally take leadership for all of my ranged toons but I like too many of the powers in this AT so I really couldn't find any room for it.
  8. I've been working on this arc for awhile now and I think I've finally gotten it right. I would like to invite everyone to try it out and give me some feedback. It's a journey down the road to insanity. This is the EB version. I plan to make an AV version as well. It's 5 missions and very long. It should take approximately 90 minutes to 2 1/2 hours to complete. It's intended to be run as a task force but it can be soloed. The ideal team size is 4 IMO. The third mission can be failed if you let you Inner Child die. There's some fun text to accompany the failed mission so you might want to fail it on purpose.

Arc ID# 371823 Mind Fork (a true task force).

This is Dark Flea from freedom as he is now. I usually just take what drops I get and slot them unless they seem useless then I sell them. Occasionally, I'll buy a few to fill out sets. In all honesty I barely know anything about frankenslotting or getting soft cap or hard cap. I've heard the terms but I know very little about them. I would like to make Flea less susceptible to Mez and have him do more damage. The recharge rates are great but I wouldn't want to lose any. I'm kind of new to mid's so I hope I did this correctly:

"Edit": If it's possible to do all of this and add some accuracy and make my buffs/debuffs stronger too I would like to do that as well.

I just wanted to come in here and give everyone the details as to what had happened. And what we have done to correct the situation.

As some of you may've seen, we recently added a Ad Service to our site to help generate some money to help keep the site running due to server costs..etc..etc Well the Ad Service we used was Clicksor.com

Everything seemed to be fine until I had the same thing happen to me when visiting my own site. I thought I actually had a virus, but that wasn't the case. Afterwards, I did what most of you may have done and ran my Virus Scanner and Malware program. The end results were fine, I wasn't infected. And I truly hope no one else was either.

It happened a second time when visiting my site, and that's when it dawned on me, the only thing different on my site was the Ad Service. So I contacted the Ad Service and reported this situation with Clicksor.com immediately.

After about 2 days and no results, I finally decided to remove that Ad Service, after I received the two emails, it told me it wasn't just me and my hunch was correct about it being the Ad Service. Since then, I haven't had any issues. That Ad Service will never be used again, nor will I ever send anyone to them in the future.

I contacted BidVertiser (another ad site) in regards to this same situation and they assured me, that their system has protection against things like this and can not happen. So the site will be fine as of yesterday. But I'm not worried about the site, I'm more worried about the community and its thoughts when it comes tot he site. So the issue has been "Removed" all together with no future of it ever happening again. (At least I hope not)

So I'd like to "Wholehearted" apologize to anyone who may have experienced this over at my site. I wish it had never happened and if I knew such a threat was possible, I never would have placed it on my site to begin with. So I hope you can understand that.

And in the future, if anything like this should ever happen again, I would hope I would get a email ASAP. I think I did from 2 different members, one being in this thread. Another actually had the info I needed, which was given to Clicksor.com but I wasn't waiting for a fix, I removed the service and will never look back to them.

Again, I really apologize for this and hope you can forgive my ignorance.

    Sincerely,
    Rob

As you can see from my original post and the followups as well I never doubted you guys. I'm glad the problem is resolved. Thank you for taking care of it in a timely fashion.
  11. Thanks Hyper, I hope they get it under control soon because I really love vidiotmaps and badge-hunter.
  12. I immediately ran spybot S&D and CCleaner (Crap Cleaner). They are two great programs that I rely on regularly and highly recommend. Both are free.
  13. I went to vidiotmaps.com this morning to check and see which badges I needed in Warburg. When I went to the Warburg map page I was redirected to an antivirus scan bot. It looks to me like someone hacked the site. I don't think the administrators of vidiotmaps.com would do something like this. If you are reading this and you are one of those administrators please see what you can do to fix this.
  14. I've decided that it is impossible to string the 2 commands together and get it to work every time. The solution that I came up with is just to make one macro for targeting and put it right next to my buffing powers. It works so I'm not going to worry about it anymore.
  15. I tried your bind and it didn't work consistently. On rare occasions it would fire off the power if I clicked fast enough but I need it to work every time. I also tried making the targeting command longer thinking that the problem might be in the computer not reading it fast enough so with the targeting command longer and the power command shorter it might compensate. Here's what I tried but I got the same results:

    /bind NUMPAD1 "target_friend_next$$powexecname Speed Boost"

    and:

    /bind NUMPAD1 "target_custom_next friend$$powexecname Speed Boost"
  16. Ok, I'll try it as a bind the next time I'm online. I did try my original one as both a bind and a macro though and still had that problem.

Keep in mind you have to give the power a moment to recharge, but if you press it early the power will queue and go off when recharged.

Also, like Rajani mentioned, you can put filters in by changing the target command a little, for example:
/bind KEY "+$$target_custom_next friend alive notmypet teammate$$powexecname Speed Boost"

    Edit:
I just tested, and the macro version of the same command string does not work correctly at all. I guess you are better off binding it to a key instead. Personally, on my buffing toons, I use the 1234 keys for various buffs.
Did you try this with more than one person on your team? I made almost the exact same bind (the only difference being I used powexec_name instead of powexecname) and it would only work if I only had one target. If I tried to use it with more than one the power would not fire but it still worked for targeting. I also tried reversing the order of the 2 commands and it did just the opposite.
  18. Thank you, but I tried that too. Here's the easiest one to write that I tried:

    /macro haven "target_friend_next$$powexec_name sonic haven"

The problem is, it only does the targeting then it drops the cast power command. I also tried:

    /macro haven "powexec_name sonic haven$$target_friend_next"

Which cast the power but wouldn't switch targets. From what I can tell it is impossible to string the two commands together. I had some friends who are much more experienced with macros and bindings than I am trying to help yesterday and they came to the same conclusion (we tried making it into a bind too). If anyone out there knows of a way to make this work I would appreciate it. For now, I'm just settling for having the targeting macro take up another tray slot. It's an acceptable compromise but it isn't what I actually wanted to do.

Btw, I used the targeting command on my dark/kin corr yesterday. It was an invaluable tool when we went after the MoBSF. Not only did I get it but it was the first time I ever even attempted the SF let alone a master run. =)
  19. I'm trying to set up a macro that will target the next teammate or pet and fire off sonic haven. I know I have to use target_custom_next and powerexec but I'm not sure how to write it. Please help. Here's what I tried but doesn't seem to work "/macro haven "target_custom_next"friend"$$powerexec_sonic_h aven or powerexec_name"sonic haven". I tried a couple of other combinations too but none of them seemed to work.

P.S. That space in haven was not there when I typed this.

Got it to work here's what I did: /macro haven "target_custom_next "friend"$$powexec_name sonic haven"

Oh well, thought it worked until I got a mm on the team and had him call pets. The syntax is right but I don't think you can string the 2 commands together. For now the targeting macro will just have to take up an extra tray slot. If anyone knows how to make this work please help.
  20. Thx ninja that explains alot. They didn't look familiar to me so I thought it was something new. His comment "and it works too" and the pics got me to thinking that they moved up and down. I used those cables on the sides of the bay door in my hangar but I didn't pickup on what they were. Much appreciated.
  21. I found this thread awhile ago. First of all, I gotta say well done. I got alot of inspiration from your base too. When I first discovered your thread I had just recently discovered stacking even though I'm a 33 month vet (been playing on and off since the beginning). Now I'm confident that we have one of the most unique and coolest bases on Freedom. The question I have is how do you get the movable jail cell gates? Your comment led me to believe that it comes with the 42 month vet badge which grants assemble the team. I checked the main website and paragonwiki and I couldn't find any evidence to support that. I'm dumbfounded right now on how you did it. Could you please explain how to get those gates? Thanks.

Here's an update on the lore of our VG. Our people are from the planet Venu. We're an alien race of insects that are far more evolved than modern humans. We crashed into an active volcano and are now marooned in the Rogue Isles. What you see in the ceiling of the throne room is the bottom half of our spaceship. Since we have no way to repair our ship we're making the best of a bad situation.

  24. Thanks for all of this great advice. I should mention that as long as I play at a distance I don't get hit with stuns/holds that often but I like to get up close and personal so I can use transference to keep my end full while I play with ninja run and sprint on. If I get on a good team that has debuffs and such to keep me from getting hit with stuns and holds then it works great and we can steamroll through almost anything (and we usually do), but there are occasions when I get stunned or held and btt I can pop a break free I'm dead. The problem is the cone around transference is so small that I wind up fighting in melee range more often than not. I know they discontinued the old enh's that used to give us larger cone range. If I slot transference for range will it have any effect on the cone? It is also worth mentioning that I don't get hit with other status/mez effects very often. Stuns are what get me the most often with holds and immobilize in 2nd. I don't really care about immobilize because I'm usually right where I want to be when they hit me as I move so fast that they can't get anything on me until I decide to stand in one place.
