I'm asking why there isn't the same sort of competition / reward system for the most helpful / well written guide or site every once in a while (doesn't have to be monthly given how useless they can be at sticking to getting the Creative Awards done consistantly on a monthly basis).
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably because we never thought of it... *cough* 'tis an interesting idea. Oh, and re: Creative Genius - the English one has been run monthly on the English forum all year (although I'm a tad late getting the August nominations thread posted ... off to do that now). -
This thread is generating too many improper post reports in my inbox and the topic has been covered in detail in the past (and nothing has changed in the answers to the request in the interim), so I'm going to lock.
There are currently no plans to implement EU -> US or US -> EU server transfers, and no plans for any server mergers. -
Here are the results for the Lightweight division, which was run and won on Saturday 6th September. Five teams took part, with some close matches eventually seeing the Pirates of the Paragean emerge victorious. Full results are available here.
Each member of the victorious Pirates team will receive the following prizes:
<ul type="square">[*]Forum Title: X4 Lightweight Champion[*]Guaranteed access to the Aion Exclusive Preview Event[*]PPD Costume Power code[*]In-game Title (permanent or temporary yet to be decided)[/list]
If the Team Leader for the Pirates could get in contact with me via PM or email (ghostraptor[at]ncsoft.com) with forum names for all team members, I'll begin arranging for the prizes to be distributed.

I am glad that our concerns have been notes - but how many of our 'points' have been noted? Will we see the Fansite Alliance being refreshed, with dead applicants being removed and fresh applicants being considered? Will we see 'community' (note, not 'forum', but 'community') contributions (such as city sights, hall of fame, tip of the day') come back, or are these 'changes' so dramatic that they will all vanish?
Personally, if we're looking at an overhaul, I'd like to keep the fansite alliance as it is - just, 'fresher'.

Things are already in progress, however the preliminary work being done isn't visible to most quite yet. Expect to see things moving along nicely over the next couple of months. Including the things you mention, and more.

I see where your coming from, but tbh doubt it. I know for a fact none of my team would drop so low as to force a restart, for us this about player skill and fun. So win or lose we here to the death.
And really, if your getting kicked that bad after 8 mins, whats the point in a restart?
Its only worth it in an even match and you dont get a running score so cant be sure who is in the lead. So whats the point. I thought this whole thing was about getting some really good PvP going and to have fun at the same time. The fear of DCs n this rule IMO is counter to the original aims of the competition.
[/ QUOTE ]
KS is the organiser, so it's his final decision, however just to throw my two cents in:
Having been involved in many competitions (from as small as a intra-clan RTS tournament to as large as the Guild Wars World Championships) it's an unfortunate fact that if you do not include a rule about disconnects it is likely that, eventually, someone will see that as an opportunity to take advantage and will do so. Hence why generally professionally run competitions contain strict rules about disconnects during matches. Unfortunately what happens more often than not is that players/teams that legitimately experience bad luck are the ones who end up suffering due to the rule put in place to remove temptation from anyone with a "win-at-any-cost" outlook. -

In the meantime: Patience, young Padawan, patience. The time will come when we unleash the full force of Markting on the unsuspecting.

K is hinting at something rather awesome. In the meantime, concerns of the OP noted and what I can say right now is that we're working on better things in the background. Stay tuned

Londoner - I've passed along the apparent bug internally to be looked into.
On the other topic:
There are a lot of reasons associated with price discrepancies between the regions. Prices will be set by region to reflect numerous business considerations, and as such comparing prices through exchange rates that fluctuate frequently does not tell the whole story. As already noted above, the US prices are excluding tax while the EU/UK prices include tax. -
KS and I have been discussing schedule, and KS will post up the current thinking later today.
At the moment all the remaining matches are scheduled for the next two weekends, which will see the tournament completed on the evening of the 21st.
I am, however, willing to judge matches on week nights if both teams agree to an earlier date/time and I am available (NB: I'm unlikely to be available this Wednesday).
The priority here is to get the matches run in a timely manner and to maintain the fun factor as high as possible for all participants. In that regard, I personally feel that the schedule that KS posts represents the *latest* dates for each round to complete. We'd all prefer for matches to be run on that date to maximise attendance of observers, however it's in everyone's interests to avoid forfeits due to schedule conflicts where possible. -
Based on last night, I'd suggest we only run the 7 first round matches tonight. For future matches we can look at playing matches at times that teams and judges agree on, and obviously play major sessions on weekends as originally planned.
We can only run as many matches as we have judges for (3 tonight) at a time, and with a 15 team it will also take more time than yesterday to update the brackets accurately. I'd rather not take on too much on the first night. -

I take you mean the PM isent you that you have not responed to but infact if you look at the facts i sent you that PM before cherry even posted and it wasnt even about the tree it was the fact they had not responed to what was posted about a team pulling out, dont quote me with the wrong facts or do i need to take it higher than you?
[/ QUOTE ]
My apologies that I've apparently misunderstood your complaint. I've been away from work sick for the last couple of days and I'm currently in bed on my laptop helping KS consider the options available. However, since you've brought the PM to the public boards: Your message to me included a specific request for a redraw. As such, I have made a redraw.
As it stands, based on your request (and other comments in this thread) and the number of teams available, there are two options: Lightweight is run as Double Elim with the redraw I posted (the original draw is not valid with a team having completely resigned) or switch to a Round Robin format. The latter requires more matches to be played and will potentially take longer to complete, however it means that every team plays the same number of matches.
I'd also like to remind everyone that this is *not* an official event. I have volunteered my time to KS to act as impartial judge and to assist him with organisation. It is, however, very much a player run event and should be treated that way. -
[ QUOTE ]
Iv gotta reply even though we got a bye, what on earth is it with all the bye's?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's the only way a Double Elim can be run with 5 teams.
[ QUOTE ]
Why of all the formats do you keep choosing this system?
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe KS chose Double Elim because that was the system used with S4.
The other option is a Round Robin format. Every team plays the other teams once (over 5 rounds), then the two teams with the best records play the final. That's 11 played matches (as opposed to 8).
[ QUOTE ]
What was wrong with the last draw tree Cherry posted?
[/ QUOTE ]
There was a complaint raised with me (by a member of your team), so I've redrawn it. -

Before this goes any further: quit it with the personal posts. It's against the forum rules the way some people have couched their responses recently in this thread. Everyone is entitled to express their opinion, as long as they do so within the forum rules. No one is entitled to tell anyone to leave because they don't like an expressed opinion, or the method that opinion is expressed.
If you feel a forum rule has been broken, tell one of the community team here and we'll take a look. In the meantime - don't make your own attacks as well. -
Hey, we can try. I have a few ideas to see if we can put some of the more interesting threads in front of appropriate people for comment. No guarantees, and be warned that if the devs do come over here we'll be *very* strict on the forum rules in relation to any dubious posts about staff. In light of which ... please take the time to think about your posts in this thread further before continuing the discussion on senses of humour

Our teams are currently looking into an issue that is probably related to this. If you haven't already, please submit a ticket (see TechMan's post above).

Ill be honest the only reason my account is still active is x4 and the vain hope that there mite be some other fun stuff in i13, but as they havent announced anything, it means none of its ready. And if its not ready, it may well not be ready in time.
I enjoy massive parts of this game, but I hate repeatative missions. The mission creator feels like one massive repeatative mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's more to be announced yet, some of which I think you might find appealing. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well it is almost at the point where IF they end up posting this side of the swimming pool again that they would have a LOT of explaining to do.
[/ QUOTE ]
A lot of the NCNC dev interaction on the forums is done during break times and before/after work hours, and as such a personal choice. If I was an NCNC dev, and I thought I had reason to believe I'd be met with hostility, I wouldn't visit here either. I'd suggest that in at least two cases (BAB and Jay) that's a reasonable belief to hold, and that's going to flow through to the rest of the dev team. It's that simple.
As the video is now shelved, we're going to go through it and pull out some of the nuggets of information we received that we can share with you. It'll take a couple of days.
