Official sleeves are missing textures
Vests have been renamed
And no, I didn't do a full browse to check if anything else got altered. -

iirc, Dark blast was too powerful if porter 1 on 1 to blasters, too much soft control?
No doubt it'll be tweaked before given to blasters -

If there's excessive swearing in a team of strangers, I take that as a bad sign. The swearers aparently either have no idea other people think differently then they, or don't care about other people's sensitivities. From experiences, those attitudes transates into game style. like pushing forward because they are ready, no matter half the team is resting. Demanding heals because they overstep their and the team's boundries.
Also, if a situation calls for swearing, I like to hear the more creative versions (or at least less common ones) -
Hmmmm, yes, I would like this possibility.
Though there's the part where I WOULD move my lvl 50 tanker to my second account, and maybe my blaster from my seccond account to my main one.
Issues this arises:
My secondary account doesn't have a lvl 50 hero (like my main doesn't have a lvl 50 villain). Would my second account unlock HEAT?
My main account is roughly 18 months ahead of my second in vets. Would my Tanker loose his badges and vet powers? Would my blaster gain them? -

Though, this does mean that they intend to capture
It's quite possible that, given the threats on the Isles, they'd be permitted to use lethal force if absolutely necessary.

I thought that too, but then someone ingame (and IC) pointed out that the Zig is a US establishment and the Rogue Isles isn't the US, plus Longbow have no real juristiction (right?), so wouldn't technically be able to arrest someone and deport them to the US... -
I was just wondering... What do Longbow do in the Isles with those they capture?
For a plot idea that already started but I'm still winging, I'd like to see what people's views are. -

The Igs have always been interesting partly for their brief appearance and seeming to be independent from everything else... And given that many (pre-policeband missions) heroes met them very early in their careers and they hit hard they left a lasting impression!
I've long fancied seeing more about the Igs, but this link from the recon officer is, iirc, the foirst time it's been mentioned, and whilst maybe pointing to a link doesn't actually tell us a whole lot. i.e. it strikes me as 'lazy backstory' unless it's going to be built on.

I think a good compromise would be to make the capes from lvl1 be included in... say... the 12 month veteran badge, and aura's 24? Though that just draws the paralel of the ingame difference in level. To me, they're not tha different. Well, the aura's I've found are less likely to be of use, but that's probably just me.
That said, even putting it in the 45 month badge (which is lacking to say the least) could be done?
They definitely need to come after shoulder capes, in my opion. -

You don't want the family badge to be more realistically obtainable, you just bring it up saying it's neigh impossible as an agruement for the devs not to look at their own reasoning.

This game allows you more design creativity then any other mmorpg and while I cannot create Ma Baker or the everlasting caped crusader from the start there is plenty of other concepts that DO fit seamlessly in the CoH universe/game engine. So instead of concentrating on the things you cannot do I suggest to concentrate on the things you can.

Zombies and a tommygun doesn't mix. It's not in the powers. That's a shame, but the game isn't cut out for such flexibility. Tough (to use words of some nay sayers in this thread.)
Merc MMs don't have access to a tommygun. I don't get why, is it blaster/corrupter only? Why? Should be a simple change to make (compared to the power flexibility zombies + machinegun would be) and I see no reason -why-. So now I have to make up a reason... My character chooses not to use such an out dated and unreliable weapon. Easy. But I want my character to have the tommygun on one of her outfits, but can't. Explain why? (without saying 'tough' or 'because it's not programmed')
That's the problem here, we're given a reason for not having capes from the start. Now we're having some capes from lvl1 that goes against the explination.
It's not about milestones. We all (well most at least from what I've read) apreciate the milestones and want milestones. I get that.
Why don't Assault Rifle users get access to the tommygun from the get go? If someone can tell me gameworld (not game mechanic) explination that's precented to us, not thought up by a player but game lore, and I'll grant you that the capes and tommygun issue are the same. -

That aside, I think the game needs milestones for people to aim for to keep them interested. Travel powers at 14. Capes at 20, SOs at 22, auras at 30, big power at 32 etc etc. If you take those away, it tends to make things feel all the more grindy.

Agreed, mile stones make for a nice overseeable short term goal to strive for and not be daunted by the far off way in the future destination (generalizing, not just CoX).
How ever, the mile stones of capes at 20 and the reason behind it is now more so then with shouldercapes negated by them putting in capes that can be had from lvl 1. Also, capes are the staple of hero designs, why limit them? - because you have to give up your cape to show respect to Hero 1 and Omega Team, and earn it again by showing more respect.... why not let us show that respect at lvl 1? There's nothing in the game that makes me think "Yes, this is a good reason why it's level restricted."
Aura's are even more daft to restrict, from an RP point of view... unless you strictly adhere to the "you're a new hero and only just started to learn the ropes" point of view. But if you adhere to that, you have to take out the sidekick system: how can a new hero do that much damage?
And as said, the pacemakamajig is a rather poor story telling way to allow aura's in magical heroes.. and how would natural ones get an aura? They have no power to finetune into an aura.
No, basically you have the game with its rules and setup which you have to follow. They tried to give explinations that would make sense in the game world and that works... until you throw some creativity at the game.
Birdy has summed up quite well what a "computer RPG" is: the game gives you a roll, and you play it.
CoX has the strength that it doesn't tell you much about the roll you play, it gives the player a lot of scope to fill in the blanks. But, in doing so, those people that take that freedom to create great and creative concepts for the roles we get to play... sometimes find that the boundries are still too narrow, and without good reasons. The reasons for capes wasn't that bad, just poor, but now by adding Valkyri capes from lvl 1... that reason just evaporated.
Let's take it into the real world with real world logics.
Most people get their drivers licence when they're between 18 and 20, right? I got mine at 27, and that was my own choice. I'm now allowed to drive in all sorts of cars.
Right, now imagine a new born baby being given the licence to drive a new, single designed car that looks slightly different but acts just like any other car.. does that make sense?

Same could be said for lvl 50, just make it a few days, let's make cool visual effects that add absolutely nothing to the how the game is played for lvl 50's onl.. oh, wait... that would exclude the majority of players, the devs have said... I wonder why that is... -

Just what it says in the title: Remove the 'required contact' missions.
That being:
lvl5: Hollows
lvl15: Faultline
lvl20: Striga
lvl25: Croatoa
It's rather annoying to having to go see them without a choice beyond radio missions.
And while we're at it, make the "talk to PvP zone representative" missions optional or remove them as well.
I've found it rather annoying when I started to lvl a newish alt and at lvl 15 I was sent to Faultline, come back to the contact, and be sent to the bottom of Skyway to talk to the PvP rep, and back to the contact with no contact progress. -
