Point, but Enervating Field has the same cost as Disruption Field and much of the same function. I'm guessing that Sonic Repulsion costs more because it is ally-focused instead of personal use. Not that this justifies the cost, but I'm not a fan of repel powers anyway, and a lot of sets have their stinkers
edit: Looking over your post again, I'd like to make a couple points. One, while Force Field does cost less to run all the toggles, saying 2.25 end per second is less than 2.6 end per second isn't much when both amounts are obnoxiously huge.
Two, realistically I don't think you would use all of Sonic's toggles at once either, since Sonic Repulsion and Disruption are at odds - they would have to be on different allies that don't crowd together or Repulsion would just knock foes out of Disruption's debuff. This doesn't add much to the discussion, but I sure like to nitpick! -
A constant 22.5% or 30% (depending on AT) resistance debuff to the enemy independent of anything else you do. It's a great power, on paper at least. I agree with you about the endurance costs, I'd love to take Disruption Field on my Defender but the cost is just way too much combined with Leadership. Granted, the set's toggle costs are in line with other power sets like Radiation Emission or Force Fields, so this is probably Working As Intended.

An interesting idea, but it probably wouldn't work. While having SG spam relegated to it's own channel would be nice, the worst offenders would undoubtedly ignore the channel and advertise elsewhere when the SG channel isn't drawing enough attention (mostly because that would allow a lot of people to ignore them). So instead of people filling broadcast with their advertisements, we would have people filling broadcast with their advertisements and other people arguing with them and telling them to take it to the SG channel - not much of an improvement.

Yeah, the problem for me was a Coralax boss. Seems some particular enemies cause problems.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not quite that stringent about the matter, if I were I'd be no better than people like the OP :P In the case of your defender, if they're devoting all their endurance to buffing and debuffing, they're still DOING something - I'd like them to blast when feasible, but this theoretical defender is doing their part and not just "healing" or whatever. Kind of a strawman though, considering the main point of contention in this thread is, say, FF/Cold/Sonic types that just shield and do little else.
I'm just saying everyone gets damaging powers of some variety, and they should be worked into any given player's strategy somehow.
As for my "joke", that line wasn't directed at anyone but Brophog02, and it was specifically the line "Sooooo, you don't call out names on the Defender board, nowhere else?". I shouldn't have to explain that so thoroughly, but here we are. -
Quote:Yes, focus on my joke and ignore the rest of my postI said forum, not board. I'm referring to the entire kit and kaboodle here.
To actually contribute something to this topic, I'm duoing with a Sonic/Sonic Defender. And as wonderful as the shields and resist debuffs are, I value the sonic attacks just as much because they help my scrapper kill that much faster. If they just sat back and used sonic resonance powers, I'd sooner play solo.
In case you haven't noticed, this game is entirely about the combat. I cannot tolerate ANY archetype that doesn't attack, there's absolutely no excuse for that when what we're playing is essentially Final Fight with superpowers and monsters. Anyone who isn't shooting, stabbing, punching, or kicking on my teams gets the boot. Damage is damage, whether it's coming from a defender or a blaster: Masterminds are the only class that can get away with personally doing nothing in a fight, and that's only because I'm assuming they're controlling their horde - any evidence otherwise and BOOT TO THE HEAD! -
Quote:Sooooo, you don't call out names on the Defender board, nowhere else? I wouldn't even consider such a question if I hadn't seen similar behavior countless times on these forums during the big drama threads1) We don't call out names on this forum.
2) It wouldn't do any good anyhow, as this is one of hundreds in the game (some defenders and some not) who think the devs made a colossal mistake in accidentallly giving the AT a secondary that does damage, and a primary who only has a tiny percentage of powers dedicated to healing others.
Also, the fact that he cares enough to come here and bring it up, then continually defend his side of the issue, tells me he is probably far more unpleasant about it in-game than the standard "WE NEED HEALS" idiots.
Maybe I should have asked for a private message? Ah well. -
Would you mind posting your global handle, Firewasp? As everyone has stated at length, you're pretty much a solid example of everything wrong with this game, and I (along with some others, I'm sure) would prefer never having to run into you during my gametime.

Hmmm, alright then, looking at the mechanics it seems that Quills slotted normally would do more damage over time than with procs, thanks.
-
And exactly how often DO the procs go off? I'd like to know as I've been pondering the same thing.

Just earlier today, a nice person I met the previous night offered me some money from their 50. Why? I have no idea, but all of a sudden my lowbie scrapper starting from scratch on a new server has 30 million infamy! cue head exploding, /praise---Justice has certainly proved to be very friendly so far
Thanks again Witchwoman!

I went to try out an arc I published today, and it refuses to let me enter - clicking the portal gives a pop-up with the message "MAdoorinvalid" and opens the submit comment/rating window. Searching the forum and the internet for that phrase reveals nothing. Any idea what's causing this? It seems really odd.

I'd say that sounds a bit too spastic for me, but considering my love of melee ATs, that would be a lie :P

Mr. Enigma, we're shooting for general usefulness, we basically want to be able to stomp anything that's in front of us, though with some effort probably. And personally, I picked willpower and regeneration because I've come to loathe downtime :P Quick recovery + stamina on top of hefty recharge bonuses should let me chop away without end.
Psylenz, one thing you mentioned has me wondering: How would an assault rifle/energy blapper work? I mean, I know energy manipulation has some really powerful attacks, but all those cones in AR require positioning, I can only imagine such a character bouncing back and forth like the Trix rabbit gone postal or something. -
A friend and I are planning on making a couple duos to play exclusively together, one hero and one villain, and I'd like input on our set choices (haven't gotten to builds yet). This is one of those duos where we will never play seperately. Heroside I plan to roll a Spines/Regeneration scrapper to go with my friend's Sonic/Sonic defender, and villainside we'll be doing a Claws/Willpower brute and a Thugs/Thermal mastermind.
So, any advice? Set suggestions? Tips? Tricks? Potential pitfalls? Oh-god-that-won't-work-run-for-your-lives comments? -
Hello again everybody! I sound like Dr. Nick. ANYWAY! Thanks for the warm welcome and the advice! I'll admit I'm not much for teaming, City is quality time with the fiance
Still, I really enjoy GM hunts and TFs, and it sounds like I'll be able to either grab people or join up with others for those events, and that's great!

Hi everybody! I'm coming back to the game after about a year and a half of being away, and I've decided to start fresh on Justice - Without getting specific, my old server has some REALLY nasty people despite it's reputation for having a "nice community" on these forums.
Every server seems to have a different "feel", so I figured I'd ask, is there anything or anyone I should know about the community on Justice before jumping in?
