Critter power creep has resulted in many of the recent enemy groups being much more end hungry as they put out more damage. Endurance drain begins having a more noticeable impact in this situation, even if you don't have -recovery to back it up. It's kind of an odd balance situation where endurance drain is actually scaling positively with critter strength.

Thanks for pointing this out. It's fixed in the upcoming version.

  5. I'd suggest not building around the snipe changes just yet. Snipe changes are just one of the future blast set changes and we don't know what they're all going to be yet. I think Ice and Psy are both good ideas. Upcoming water blast is pretty thematic too.
  6. Dark is definitely the best set to compare it to. They're both sets with high levels of survivability (not that blasters can take advantage of the to-hit debuffs very well thanks to their terrible modifiers).

Also, the water jet lockout was a huge point of contention during beta.
  7. With 5-6 end drain enhancements in it, I can see it happening.
  8. The trial AVs also have huge resistances. -Regen doesn't care about that.

I agree with your general position, but disagree here. There IS a threshold at which death becomes such a statistical improbability that adding more defensive abilities isn't worthwhile, but I don't believe it's as easily reached as you suggest.

Also, I've seen an energy blaster lead an eight person team using constant knockback to prevent enemy counterattack (before IOs). I make no claim that energy blast is anywhere near where I think it should be, but there's no question that it is defensively the absolute best set under ideal conditions.

I wouldn't either. That's the risk you take when you take advantage of edge cases though. Love it while you can; don't be surprised if it gets taken away.

I did this strategy with dehydrate on beta (dehydrate is very similar to life drain, for those who haven't seen the set) and it's worked well for me.

Which is one of the good things about this game's community. Ideally, we want blasters to be different enough from defenders/corruptors that comparison between the two isn't appropriate in many circumstances.
  13. I can't speak for him, but from what I remember about the times we've talked about this, I think you're right. And yes, it's definitely on the list of changes that could be nice but are unlikely to happen due to the amount of work and risk involved.

That would work great, but I think the end cost would make it not worth it. Repel costs endurance based on targets hit after all.

It's too bad that it's unique. Hurricane would also be a decent place to put it, as that would make it act more predictably.
  15. From my experience on the test server, water blast has high survivability, high area damage, and middling to low single target damage. I'm enjoying it a lot.

Diellan's been wanting to suggest a change to the blaster cone damage formula for a while. The current formula is the reason why piercing rounds is a lot weaker than what people would expect.
  17. I can add to that.

Allow the Pistols attack's -defense to be replaced by other secondary effects based on ammo type.
Increase the duration of Empty Clips' debuffs so that it's more in line with the debuff strength cones are supposed to have compared to targeted area attacks.
Change the recharge of Dual Wield to 8 seconds
Increase the recharge of Empty Clips along with its damage and endurance
    Increase damage of Suppressing Fire

No worries. I wasn't expecting you to do an AoE damage breakdown as well, but that's great to hear.

  19. You know that upcoming knockback to knockdown enhancement? Put it in tornado.

The fast animation time on the area attacks means that the set's area damage scales better with recharge than others though.

It definitely is. If you're going to solo and you don't have a specific concept in mind, I'd suggest a more offensive secondary like fire. Dark secondary will be overkill on top of dark miasma on the things you'll be soloing.

    Also, nice sig.

Okay, this is a completely serious question. It may sound like I'm being aggressive, and if that's the case then I'm sorry, but I honestly want help with this issue that stresses me out more than it should.

Power balance is very important to me. Power uniqueness is as well. I don't see any reason why these two things are mutually exclusive. That's why it really gets on my nerves when people think that I or people who share my position are championing balance at the cost of uniqueness. What can I do in the future to prevent this misconception?

I'm somewhere in between. I think of a fun concept or playstyle and then make it as powerful as I possibly can.
