I've been thinking.

I've been reading Ultimate Spider-Man TPB's and the Ultimates closely resemble a group of super-powered secret police (om National Television though ) with their arrests of people for illegal self-genetic-enhancements etc.

How about we rethink the Liberty Squadron and turn them into a group of Golden Age "themed" heroes trying to enforce Governmental laws on metas and paranormals?

I know obviously there are dozens of characters who could wash the floor with us, but there's always ways to get around that. One being we aren't just arresting everyone. Just thought it'd be ironic to be arresting folk, but calling ourselves Liberty.

Exactly the reason I decided to give something else a go. I tried contacting the Liberty Squadron members and got 2 replies out of like 15 members. So I figured people had lost interest.

I must disagree with that. Yes certain people MAY have tried to avoid GG from being a clique, the most notable opponent to elitist cliques being Jennybear herself. But it has been one for as long as I can remember. Yes everyone was free to RP there, but not everyone was included by the regulars there. I love GG, always have, it's things like this I hate.

All I wanted to get from this "Militia" idea was another venue for roleplay, another source of inspiration that wouldn't dredge up bad memories from the past.

If people want to join up, let them. If they do, it's because they like the concept, not because they're necessarily an anti-social player who wants to ignore the surrounding community.

How the heck did this get frtom a possible set up for a weekly based mission/RP SG to a free for all about what's elitist and what's exclusive???

I see SG's all the time that are completely exclusive and disregard other RPers, but nothing ever gets said to them because in the end why does it matter!?

Just because it's a MMOG doesn't mean we have to involve every Tom, Dick or Harry that comes along.

On top of that, the game mechanics aren't RP-friendly, everyone knows that. But really where is the harm in a group of like minded individuals trying to enjoy the game as best they can?

It just seems to me that unless it's something set up by an elite few, it isn't permissable.

I'm getting really fed up with people being told what they can do or can't do.

I'm starting to wonder why I even bother.

Can't we just play it by ear?

Why does it have to be planned/tweaked/altered/scrapped before we've even tried it out?

I was experimenting with Manolith last night, getting a feel for Stone Armour etc. I'll continue to do so till Thursday then I'll re-roll him.

Roleplaying an "alien" is quite easy I'd imagine. You just have to look at everything from their perspective. Things you take for granted would be fascinating or mind boggling.

I love all your concepts though, my favourite though is the Storm defender

I would've chosen Stone/Stone but I'm sadly not fond of the Stone armour animations or appearance.

I like the idea of a "weekly mission". With characters meeting on a mnore regular basis in between. I do think people are complicating matters somewhat, a pool of 16 players is a much nicer idea than 2 seperate teams of 8.

So it's Thursday night for those that can makje it, another night to be arranged for those that can't. I myself can normally do both nights so...

I'm using an Inv/ Stone tanker called Manolith. Basically he'll either be a Sam Spade type PI cursed by a client, or a black construction worker transformed somehow into a body of solid rock.

So is Inv/Stone melee a good combo?

Newcastle is a good "middle ground"

I'm looking to introduce mine soon, but him being rather nerdy and young, makes it difficult around experienced/older heroes.

Reactionary, after his i7 revcmp, would have Tool "H" as his theme song.

Ironclad would have some Flash Gordon, Pulp serial music for his.

And Basilisk, god knows.
