  1. And does it last permanently after you use it ... or does it fog back over after awhile? And how long before it recharges?
  2. MA killied my Ma.

    MA destroyed my Pa.

MA removed my br- (No. that can't be right.)
  3. Too many free CoX innovations are ruining the game. Do you agree?

Used to be trains were the only way to get from point a to point b, so we got to spend more time in game travelling without risk of geting experience or influence.

Then came the double experience weekends which made our characters level up twice as fast without having to travel at all.

Then came the Police scanner missions. No more lost time to travel, faster experience, more 50s sitting around collecting dust.

Then came the new maps, TFs, etc. which spread everybody out and Pocket D and Outerboros, further reducing travel time.

Recipes and IOs were introduced and immediately came an out of control market, where lowbies could sell drops and not have to struggle for their the TOs anymore.

Then merits were introduced and ruined the markets, giving players a way to beat the system get recipes that I could otherwise charge them outrageous amounts of influence for.

Then MA and their %&^%S tickets gave players yet another way to get drops without having to be on TF and SFs, or having to commit hours at a time to the game. Made everybody and their uncle either an author or a farmer, allowing them to play the game the way they wanted to with little room for recourse.

And now with I16 - color customization - players are going to be able to "tailor" their characters any way they want them. That means more players will be spending their time fooling around with characters rather than playing. And rumor has it that you'll be able to set missions in a way that you won't be able to spam begs for farms anymore ... unfaily punishing players who prefer to simply doorsitting and collecting experience/influence while they go about the laundry or cooking dinner, etc.

I believe ALL these changes -- taking together -- are ruining the game and any chance of its success.

Fortunately, the game I'm talking about being ruined is CO and DC Universe Online. Do you agree or disagree?
  4. MA caused me to lose my wife, my children, my DOG, my car and my home ...

And this thread about MA ...is making me lose my LUNCH!!!!

Clouded, I believe it is a reference to powers that have been adjusted to an "Oh dear sweet little baby Jesus my eyes!"

There is no need or point in making off-color remarks about off-color customization. Off color customization, remarkably, has not been discussed despite being [DELETED], which is not to say that it is exploitable.

Clouded, I don't think that its your post-lunch condition that makes this conversation hard to deal with, let alone to follow. Off-color customization is much harder to define that color customization, which is readily apparent. Just in case though, try it "Post-breakfast" instead, Raisen Bran being almost a metaphor for what I'm talking about. The farmers out there know what I'm talking about, which means [DELETED]. Not sure where the devs stand on this, though, atm.
  6. While I've heard a lot about the Ying of color customization, what I haven't heard yet is the discussion of its Yang: Off-color customization.

Will we be able to keep off-color customization clean in Issue 16? Or is this an oxi-moron we will just have to live with? And if not, then what kind of moron (present company excluded) WILL we have to live with?

Please incorporate into this thread and discuss.
  7. Not too extreme at all. In fact, not extreme enough.

Others might laugh at you ... including me ... but that doesn't mean you're wrong. It doesn't mean that you're paranoid. doesn't mean that you've been drinking or doing drugs to the point that they've fried your brain but good ....

And while it may mean all of those things, the truth remains the truth and the truth will set you free. Make no mistake though. Whether or not you're correct, you'll still owe the man your monthly fee, and when all is said and done that truly is what this conspiracy is all about.

Don't let the nay-sayers like P-Knight talk you down from the ledge. Common sense arguments only go so far when you've gone so far out on a limb to expose the only explanation that could possibly work in a truly impossible situation.

So stand tall, my friend. Or sit, if you prefer. But either way, keep your head up high and your eyes straight ahead. While this may make it easier for people to hit you from behind, it nevertheless will help you see those who are coming straight at you with naybobs of negatisim.

    Nuff said.

    And then some.

    And then some more.

    The Devs Hate...

    The Devs hate ... HOBOs!!!!

In this game we have seen Nazis, Clowns, Robots, Time Travelers, Ghosts, Vampires, street thugs, aliens, mutants, those who are Lost, magicians, arch villians, heros, romans, mafia, farmers, police officers, detectives, students, professors, office workers, badge-hunters, veterans, superhero clones and the GMs that catch them....

    But not one single hobo.

Where's the love? Where's the equality? Where's the STENCH????

With all the trains that go from one city to another its just not right that we don't have hobos in the game ... especially since these trains are FREE!!!!!

Hobos love riding trains for free. You don't see us complaining like some of you that we need more modes of transportation. You don't see us whining about not having cars? Or horses? Or magic carpets?

We already have what we need. Trains! But do you you see us there? Nooooooooo! And why not? Because of devs! (Which is short for "devils')

You don't see us complaining about recipe drops, either. Or merits. Or MA tickets. All we want is a few cigar or cigarette butts to drop. But do we get them? Nooooo. And why not? Because of devs. (Which is short for deviants!)

And you don't see us complaining about SG bases not having enough storage bins for all our "treasures." All we want is a public restroom. But do we get it? Nooooooo. And why not? Because of devs. (Which is short for devious!) They supply us with countless commerical buildings, universitities, banks, tailor shops, jewelry stores, police stations ... all open to the public ... but not a single friggin public bathroom!!!!!

Do you know how many times I've been on a team when one of my teammates has said, "afk... brb... bio break..." '

The devs know that most players live at home and have bathrooms at their disposal. But hobos? Who cares about hobos? We're supposed to just pee our pants and continue playing!!!!!

Thank heavens for this thread. I've been holding this in for an awful long time (as well as that other thing), and this finally gives me the proper forum to rant. God bless the OP... and double damn the devs (which is short for how DEValued we hobos feel!!!!)
  9. My complaint is about all the Green Lanterns, Red Lanterns, Orange Lanterns, Purple Lanterns, Pink Lanterns and Black Lanterns I'm seeing.

Oh wait, this is about I16? I thought this was about DC Comics.
  10. Say it isn't so! Please!!!!

How will I leach experience now? All my badges are in doorsittting!!!!

Will I have to actually play the game now?

    How do my powers work?

This is the end of CoX. i REFUSE to pay $15 a month for a game that keeps NERFING all its best features!!!!!
  11. When I'm in a group I don't care who comes and goes.

It USED to bother me, big time, when I was invited to a group, crossed three zones to get there ... and then the group broke up within minutes of me joining. (Hobos don't wear deodorant -- so I was sure that it was all me!)

NOW, though, even that doesn't bother me because there's so many fast ways to get from one zone to another ... SG teleporters and Outerboros are a Hobo's best friends.
  12. One of my favorites has got to be:

    Wicked, Wicked Wonderland - # 1224
    @ancientspirit

Reason: This arc is just plain fun. Nifty custom characters. Clever writing. Interesting plot. Fun souvenier for completion. Plus, great innuendo kinda reminiscent of Jessica Rabbit "playing pattycake" in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Be sure to read all the bios and NPC dialogue.

    Is this a farm?

    [ QUOTE ]
My suggestion is that you worry more about what you are doing while playing, and less about what others are doing. That also happens to be a pretty good approach to the real world too...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Worried? No. Curious. Yes.
  14. Galactic_Hobo

    Is this a farm?

Well, I revisted the arc and I guess it really is a work in progress. Now, instead of one mission, its two missions. And when you click on each hero there's a custom discription. Clickies have been added, as well, to each mission.

There are more custom critters -- yet they all appear to be only Lts -- but now with an even greater range of AT types and powersets.

And the second mission is also on a frequent farm map?

Do farms usually have more than one mission? There appears to be a story shaping here, but again all the mobs are JLA type heroes, with similar powers but differnt names and costumes. It was mentioned that this could be a tribute MArc, and it appears that's what this guy or gal is going for. So maybe it is legit.
  15. Galactic_Hobo

    Is this a farm?

I entered a mission the other day where all the mobs were LTs. and it was on a common farm map, Map 02. And there was no story to speak of.

So I figured it was a farm.

However, instead of all the mobs being the same kind, these were all custom ... kind of like the Justice League of America, except their names and costumes were nothing like the JLA.

But it was clear who they were supposed to be. A black clad, black caped martial artist ... a HUGE invul/ss tank all in green and yellow ... an yellow clad archer ... a very UGLY and SCARRED sonic gal in fishnets ... and so forth. All with the different power sets of the JLA.

So is this a farm? (It wasn't playing to any specific strength or weakness; wide variety of melee and ranged ATs, and fliers) There is no story. Just a Kill All mission. (though the status said Story in Progress, or some sort)

Is it a copyright infraction? The intent is clearly the JLA but there are no similar character names or costumes? Is that the difference between a copyright infraction and a homage?

I don't know what to make of this thing. I'm not looking to report it or anything ... so I won't list its name or number ... but I am curious.

As for the intellectual high ground? Who knows. (I did manage to get through high school and college somehow - but a rocket scientist, I'm not. So you may have me there. )

    Wait...what's this?

    [sees the rating average]

    ...what.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow! That's what I'm talking about! You reviewed something with a 4 star review instead of a 1 or 0.

Question: How did you decide to target this arc? Were you just playing random arcs and thought this one was terrible, so included it? (While I still don't agree with reviewing bad arcs that haven't placed themselves on the chopping block, I DO think this is much fairer than singling out folk who already are getting bad reviews.

And by the way ... for the one genius who said I was trying to hijack this thread: that would mean talking about something OTHER than what the OP is talking about. Every post of mine is spot-on related to this thread.

Being against something is not the same thing as being off topic ... in the same way that being for these reviews and appreciating T-13's humor is not off topic.

I like the way Policewoman gets what I'm talking about with her very cleaver post ...

... and it really is great to see another Hobo out there! And a HEALER to boot. That means SOMEWHERE in the universe, healers are still making housecalls. (Now, this last thought is off topic. See the difference?)
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Oh good gawd. Look, all you whiners out there, just please be quiet. Look if those Arcs weren't just plain terrible then they wouldn't be subjected to such harsh critique. As it is, I find the reviews to be just, plus it is still just one person's opinion. You've stated your dislike over the thread, but you endorse it every time you post by bumping it up to the top. You've stated your opinion... now move along.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is a limit to how many times that even a Galactic Hobo can hear that he is wrong and that everybody else is right ...

There comes a point where even a Galactic Hobo heeds the passionate words of others that he should just give up and move along quietly...

And there comes a time when even a Galactic Hobo must step aside and do nothing, and thus allow evil to triumph ...

    But I'm not there yet!!!!!

    [ QUOTE ]
The trouble I have with this thread is that you're seeking out people who have already gotten bad reviews and are actively seeking to "kick them while they're already down" for a few laughs and giggles.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, the trouble you have with this thread is that you've imposed your own reasoning for reviewing the arcs and ignored the fact that TerminusEst13 wasn't deliberately panning or flaming arcs, but instead, looking for arcs with low ratings, attempting to discern whether those low ratings were warranted and if so, why they earned low ratings and reporting on his findings with wit and sagacity instead of simply saying, "Yeah, this arc sucked, don't run it".

You attribute malice where none exists. That's your problem with this thread. And it is precisely that, your problem. Take it somewhere else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um ... actually, I don't think you're right at all. TerminusEst13 clearly said:

    [ QUOTE ]
My latest hobby ... was to play through horrible arcs ... I consider it "fun" to do this ... assaulting me with mountains of retardation ... I love to rant, and these all will give me plenty of opportunities to rant! As well as suck what fun that can be had out of them as I analyze them from numerous perspectives, thus reducing me to a gibbering shell of a man ... It'll be fun! And by "fun", I mean "oh god please kill me".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Attempting to ascern whether those low ratings were warranted????

I don't see that there. What are you smoking, dude????

T-13 is absolutely is looking for arcs with low ratings with the intent of panning and "flaming" them with wit and humor. He SAYS he is ... that's the reason for being of this thread ... the intent of this thread!

I DON"T think T-13 is doing this out of malice; I think he's doing it out of a sense of humor! Plenty of people find it funny. Even I do! (Its not poorly written.)

But I DO think its targeting people who have gotten low marks on their arcs and using the forums to publically kick them while there down.

That's his right to do. Your right to enjoy. And my right to point out.

So if you don't like my comments, that's your problem, not mine. I don't need to "take it elsewhere."

    (cue the heroic music)

"For wherever EVIL attacks the poor unwashed masses ... whenever the BULLIES of the world attack the vulnerable and the naive ... whenever people with make-believe names PICK ON other people with make-believe names ...

... THE HOBO WILL BE THERE ..."

    (cut music)

    So there.

    dear galactic_hobo,

now please ride your railroad car into a black hole

    ______

    [/ QUOTE ]

Talk about disappearing into a black hole. By either design or accident, not only do you leave your signature blank but your made up forum name invisible, too.

You have actually managed to cover up a FICTIONAL name. Why would anyone do that? (This has to be a glitch in my computer.)

Anyway, thanks for the great laugh.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
You want to zero-star my arc? Hey, go right ahead. Arc number's 188971, titled "Avgrunden Oppnas".
Go on, tear it apart. Tell me why you didn't like it. Tell me why you thought it was crap. Make fun of any plot holes and stupid dialogue you find. Lambast the enemy power choices. I'll fix it and make it better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I would never seek out your arc to zero or one star it. That would be griefing. I just said it would be "poetic justice" if people zero-starred your arcs. I never said or would advocate that anyone do that.

The trouble I have with this thread is that you're seeking out people who have already gotten bad reviews and are actively seeking to "kick them while they're already down" for a few laughs and giggles. Doesn't sound very heroic to me ... but admittedly this is also City of Villians, so you have every right to be as evil as you want to be.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Your right to not be offended by what I say does not trump my right to say whatever the heck I want, nor anyone else's ... Normally I wouldn't jump out of the woodwork and lambaste you like this, but this isn't the first time I've seen you jump on someone out of over-sensitive righteous indignation and, frankly, that's a real pet-peeve of mine.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, we agree on something. YOUR right not to be offended by what I say does not trump MY right to say it, either. So get over your pet peeve ... get off YOUR high horse ... and get over YOURself.

The right to speak our opinions here really does cut both ways, my friend. Your not entitled to yours without me being entitled to mine. (And virtually every post in every thread, someone is riding on a high horse, imho.)
  23. [ QUOTE ]
When you publish an arc you are offering it up to the general public, just like publishing any other creative piece. There are people out there who do reviews of terrible movies and revel in the terribleness, just because these "movies" were independently created and are free makes them no less subject to review.

Frankly I would think if authors actually care about their arc they'd appreciate the publicity. The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

If they *don't* care about their arc (which I doubt either of the first two do), then they should have kept it in test mode.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The issue isn't about reviewing arcs released to the general public. The issue is targeting certain arcs with the sole INTENT of making fun of them. No matter how you serve it up, that's griefing.

And if you think any publicity is good publicity, get yourself caught DUI on COPS.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
It doesn't sound like he's low-rating arcs just for his own amusement, so I'm ruling out "griefing".

And he doesn't just 0- or 1-star and arc, make a joke, and move on. He'll take the time to explain why he didn't like the arc -- even occasionally offering some suggestions for improvements.

I certainly have gotten low ratings on my arcs, and I would've absolutely preferred a little constructive feedback -- even if it's disguised in a sarcastic critique -- over no feedback at all. How else can I improve myself?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is BS. There are plenty of "opportunities" here for people to request reviews to "better themselves."

As for not being griefing, here's what the OP says:

    [ QUOTE ]
My latest hobby ever since AE was released was to play through horrible arcs. I don't know why I took on such a pasttime, but I consider it "fun" to do this... As said before, I love to rant, and these all will give me plenty of opportunities to rant! ... I'm sure excited! It'll be fun! And by "fun", I mean "oh god please kill me".

    [/ QUOTE ]

OP is targeting people to make fun of them. And all the rationalization doesn't change that one basic fact.
  25. I think your thread is obnoxious and borders on griefing.

I have no problems with other review threads no matter how they lambast the author because those authors have raised their hands and said, "Review me." - but what you're doing is just cruel.

These arcs may be zeroes to you (and maybe even to everyone who has voted on them) but to the authors, they are stories that have been sweated over.

You should ask permission to review threads publically. Or call for volunteers who have been rated Zero and want a chance to be reviewed ... and vindicated.

Instead you arrogantly seek out "the worst" ... and then take it upon yourself to ridicule the work of others.

It would be poetic justice if people zero-starred every arc you ever make.

Your "fun" is someone else's pain. And to me, that's the very definition of "griefing." You should be ashamed of yourself.
