yet another voice against the "click and run" tactics - especially the aggro code. I've given up ToT'ing on my level 42 blaster because of the 50's doing the superspeeder door-to-door dash.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, try different places. I found a nice place in the south area of the RWZ, a number of doors reasonably close to each other, and only once did I run into other people there. At 42, you've got Cimerora and the RWZ, and if heroside the FBZ. -

I'm really suprised and disappointed that priority wasn't given to the Buster badge bug.
Whenever there has been a bug with previous events they were given priority precisely because they only happen once a year and need to be right.
A year is way too long to have to wait for a badge bug fix.
[/ QUOTE ]
But I think this is the first year that the next issue was on the training room during an event (and definitely the first year that the next issue was on a training room during an event after such a paucity of issues and another issue waiting as soon as this one goes live).
Maybe, if things get done on time, we could get a spring trick or treating event for a week. (Theme: No one expects the Zombie Inquisition). But to get this fixed for now, you're looking at delays for I13 and I14. -
[ QUOTE ]
So no buster badge this year? and it's ok that we wait another year to get it because an event was released that obviously isn't working as intended?
Well I want compensation! for the time I payed for and wasted trying to get something that was advertised as working, and is obviously broken.
This years event was all "hey, we love you so much where giving it to you early!!!! . . . . . Oh but half of it doesn't work, never mind, just finish it next year, have fun!!"
It's about the principle of it all, I've never been annoyed with the developers of this game, not in 4 years but this is just a total mess, so many problems have been ignored before releasing this event and that is a real shame.
This years halloween event = Fail
[/ QUOTE ]
It is possible to get the Buster Badge, I got it last night. It takes far longer than it should, so you won't be able to get it on every character, but it can be done.
Yes, it should have been fixed before I13 was done. But given all the pressure on the devs from the players (and probably from above) to get I13 moving so we have two issue releases, I can see how things got missed. And with everything set up for I13 charging ahead, switching the test server back to I12 + Halloween event would back things up.
Extending the Halloween event another week might be possible (unless they have some hidden event waiting for the NCNC anniversary), but would that make that much of a difference? Do you really want to grind that long for the badge, and not do the normal stuff in the game?
As for changing the buster badge requirements...I don't think there's a way they can do it just for this year. So they change Buster badge to 5 spirits...every old character that had taken out 5 spirits from prior years gets the badge, and next year when it's fixed, it's a trivial badge to earn.
Clearly, this didn't go the way it should have. My guess is that the devs were so focused on the Zombie Apocalypse, and making the invasions work right (which it mostly is). They'll know to pay more attention to the impact of the trick or treating side. And for the invasions themselves, the scheduling will be fixed, and hopefully instead of "pick a zone at random", it becomes "pick a side to invade, then pick a zone at random for that side" to even things out.
I understand your frustration, but sometimes I'm sorry is the only thing possible, without screwing things up more. -

2) Too easy to get all the Zombie badges -- I got all 4 badges my first round with the zombies. After that, fighting zombies got real pointless, real fast.
[/ QUOTE ]
This was intentional...a lot of people have many characters, so they wanted to make it relatively easy to get them on a lot of characters. -
I was afraid that nothing would be able to be done for this year, since everyone's tied up in I13 testing and the test server is already in use for I13. But PLEASE, for next year, look at the sort of things Zombie Master suggested.
As much time as I've put into working to get the Buster badge, and as annoying as it is that I don't have it yet (and at this rate likely won't)...I don't think changing the numbers required for Buster is a good idea. It's a new bug this year, and there's no way to change the number for just people doing it this year. -
Well, I've spent a boring evening in futility, going through a cycle of doors I've got mapped out in the RWZ for my badger. I started the evening with 14 of the 15 event badges, missing only Buster, for defeating ghosts that spawn from Trick or Treating.
Three boring hours going from door to door to door, more than a hundred zombies and witches and pumpkinheads down, more than a score of werewolves and vampires. And not ONE ghost. In three hours. Not One ghost
Please tell me this isn't "operating as intended". -
First, the positive stuff. I've been having a lot of fun. The Zombie Apocalypse is fun and frenetic. And most of the changes to Trick or Treating are great...between the greater spawn sizes based on team size and making the longer timer per door per person, encourage teams to trick or treat together, rather than split up across the zone, everyone at their door. This is a fun event, and thanks for starting it over.
But there are a few things that could use tweaking. Biggest of all...the spawn rate of ghosts when trick or treating is just ridiculous. By the time I got the 14th badge from the event (Hunter), I had gotten three spirits. I don't know if there's a bug or if it's designed, but it's so out of whack with all the others, it's not fun. Probably no way to fix it for this year, but please adjust this for next year.
Next, concerning the complaints of people being killed by others who just click doors and run...would it be possible to make the "trick" spawns always spawn to your level (like invasion rikti and apocalypse zombies)? People could still be surprised by foes they weren't counting on, but at least they wouldn't be +5, +9, +15 (in the RWZ). And looking ahead, the Winterspawn that are summoned by clicking on gift boxes for "naugty" also could get that treatment.
Last is part of a bigger issue...There are now 15 badges earnable in this event. They're in the ungodly list that achievement has become, and they aren't even all together, and because they aren't earnable year round, no progress bar. Badges need a serious reorganization, and the badges for an event should all be together in the list. Also, please add the ability to turn progress bars on and off, so that we can track our progress on these badges during the event. Perhaps instead, progress badges for everything, with a button for "hide progress". -

Note: CrossOver or Codeweaver, one of them (maybe they're the same) is now supporting COX, do a search and there is a link to where they're helping users through these problems...good news I think.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just got CrossOver Games, been running it on my first generation Intel iMac (2 GHZ Intel Core Dueo, 1.5 GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1600). My iMac is my main computer, so it regularly has a lot of programs running on it. It's not as snappy as my gaming PC (Intel Core Duo 1.86 GHZ, 2 GB RAM, nVideo 8600 GT, and probably most importantly no other programs running on it when I'm gaming), but it's usable. Wouldn't want to use it for a Hami or Mothership raid. -

i remember seeing some where that the day job badges were linked to costumes
[/ QUOTE ]
Day job badges are NOT linked to costumes.
The day job related costumes are free, unlocked at the start, content in Issue 13.
And the 30 days is what we are initially going with. The values may change in beta.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um...that would only be testable if beta lasts longer than 30 days. -

My question about this, which I see as good news, is: "Are you going to merge the Villain boards with the Hero boards, or will they continue to have different log ins?" My hope is that they are merged, but if the decision is to keep them apart, I can live with it. I've lived with it so far.
[/ QUOTE ]
They're the same boards, same logins...but because they are different domains, they have different cookies, so having it remember that you're logged into one doesn't set the cookie for logging into the other.
The alternative is to have http://boards.cityofvillains.com/blahblahblah redirect to http://boards.cityofheroes.com/blahblahblah which means only one set of cookies, but also only one skin. -
In that video, maybe most of the people were in on the trick. But it was used to mess up an Angels party in Pocket D, and happened more than once.
The problem is, once a way of griefing gets some publicity, there are lots of idiots who go "hyuk hyuk hyuk I kan do dat too and den dey will no dat I are kool two hyuk hyuk hyuk". So as undeniably clever as a single inventive grief can be, getting it repeated ad nauseam wipes out any respect for the cleverness.
And yes, if your fun is standing under Atlas, talking to people, trying out emotes, getting novaed is ruining your fun. -
Good move...but you really should tell your partners "If you want to sell these things, you get exclusivity on those sales for your region, we won't sell them. But if you pass, we can sell them to the subscribers in your region." The partners still get their exclusivity if they choose to use it, but they're available to all your customers even when the partners don't bother.

So does this mean on VEAT I could have a Wolf Spider & Crab or what ever combo on the same character???
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure yet, but we are hoping.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can have a Bane build and a Crab build on the same character. But you have to speak to a trainer to switch between them. -
As for the merits...I hope the chance of failure is also included in their calculations. For example, STF and LRSF, some teams do get to the end and just can't finish it off. And for hami raids, you've got more time than the period from the first assault on mitos to boom, even the start of the monster hunt. There's gathering time, there may be eoe farming time, planning time, etc. Merits have a chance to really spark interest in Hami, so long as they don't say "OK, Hami raids take two hours if all goes well, Manticore TF takes two hours if all goes well...they both get the same number of merits."

Issue 14 is slated for Winter 2009?? I don't know if I can wait that long....or do they mean Jan-March of 2009?
[/ QUOTE ]
They mean Jan-March 2009. -
My guess of down the line is either I14 or maybe even I13.1. Remember, they say they're using these tools too. So this sort of customization would be something they want as much as we do.
-
Actually, Slashman, customizing the appearance of the Boss IS one of the planned features for the Mission Architect, but they've said it's a stretch goal to get it into initial release. Since they've talked about the architect "taking on a life of its own" I'm guessing that the stretch goals won't happen in the initial release. But it is going to happen.
-
Originally, the team was a lot larger. It was then (sometime after CoV shipped) shrunk to 15 people. Which is still impressive that they got so much stuff done.

Wow... no one else but me has figured out that you can still EASILY pull Giant Monsters over from Monster Island?
Perhaps I should educate the populace with a video...
Then again, now that Cimemora has arrived, PI isn't quite as filled with annoying pests as it used to be...
Anyone want to vote for me making an educational video?
I personally don't consider it griefing. I think they deserve it.
I hate PLers... with a passion.
Now if someone wants to just team with friends on their low level toon and SK up to a reasonable level to enjoy PLAYING, well that's a different story...
[/ QUOTE ]
You may not consider it griefing...but the GMs do. And the problem when you do something like that, not only are you griefing the PLers, you're griefing the people who SK to others and even the at-level people who went afk there or just are a bit squishy. -

QR
As annoying and painful as they must've been, the Atlas Nuke and Kronos at the Raid videos were pretty funny. I was thinking these guys are real jerks, then I found myself LOLing.
[/ QUOTE ]
There is a certain style in figuring out a new way to cause chaos that no one else did, putting it into effect, taping it and letting everyone know. The first time the hami raid I was on, as annoying as it was, there was an element of "OK, at least they put something special into it."
The problem is when it's done again, and again, and again, and again...either the people doing the same thing over and over, or reading about it and saying "hyuk hyuk hyuk we can do dat too". That's where the style is gone, and it's just griefing. -

If you log into an existing character, switch characters and create a new one, it inherits all the settings of the previous character.
[/ QUOTE ]
I find that to be a bonus. I wish they would have the option to save a costume setup.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm talking about setting, not costume creator (and at least you can now save your settings, save chat channel settings, save window positions). Yes, an option to save costume settings also would be nice. -

I suggest that the use of this power be coded to preclude the use of Vengence.
Self Destruct = Reliable, Instant Vengeance Bait
And that will be exploited.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, no. As has been repeatedly pointed out, it leaves no body, and can't be used for Vengeance or Fallout.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have heard (not personally seen, don't have the pack and haven't teamed yet with anyone with it), if you target people by clicking on their name in the user list, you can use a rez power. If so, you probably can use a vengeance power too. -

10 second count-down, and you die every time you use it...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, gameplay advantage. If you play a tank, it's trivially easy to go into a large group, pop a red or two and maybe a yellow, and dole out a sweet purchased Nova to your enemies, probably defeating most of them, and making it really easy for the rest of the team to mop up. Pop a wakie, or even better, have someone with Resuscitate or Resurrect on hand, and you're good to go.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except you have no body to rez, you can't use a wakie (at present, you can, but you remain without a body and unable to interact with anything). Your only choice is "go to hospital" -

I take it,all of the future costume additions will only be available through these micro-transaction "booster" packs,no?
I guess, it's just a matter of time till we they start charging us for new power pools as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um...say what? We got new costumes as part of I12, AFTER the Wedding Pack. The roman set, and other additions. And a lot of costume additions after the release of the GvE pack which included two complete special sets.
