I sit here and wonder why I need to explain it to you at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh, don't feel obligated, but I do appreciate it.

While I respect your experience and opinion, I don't agree with it. I don't claim to have as much experience pvp'ing after the changes as you do, but I have enough that what I'm saying supports what I've seen as opposed to simply being theory.

You can discredit non-Freedom pvp if you want, but it can actually be easier to gauge the performance of certain AT's in less chaotic settings where there are fewer variables. In situations where it was just me teamed with an emp vs a larger group of villains, we were not nearly as effective as before the changes because the emp simply couldn't stay alive as well as before. Based on what you've said, those emps must flat out suck, but I find it hard to believe that the emps I teamed with prior to the changes were all tremendously skilled players compared to those I've teamed with since the changes.

Killing a good emp/blaster duo prior to the changes just wasn't as easy as you make it sound, imo.

I'm curious, does your opinion change at all if we are talking about zones other than RV?

EDIT: I missed your "or are complete overwhelmed" comment. I guess my point is that it's much easier to "completely overwhelm" an emp than it was before the changes.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
    Its not.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh, OK, thanks. You say it's not, I say it is.

Why do you find emps so much harder to kill these days? Are you always solo, or fighting with teammates? Why do you think blasters are even more easy mode now?

My impression has been that the impact on PFF alone was enough to sufficiently reduce a blaster's survivability below what it was previously. Even with increased resists you can still hit them, which leads to more deaths than when every blaster was retreating into a PFF and running away unsuppressed.

    [ QUOTE ]
Hows that for answering you now.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's better. It's a start. You don't give any reasons why it's harder to kill an emp or why blasters are more survivable . I didn't really expect you to respond with an argument that included facts but if I'm as ignorant as you think I am it would be quite helpful if you would enlighten me.

About the same thing a good emp blaster combo can do now, your point?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I would have thought that it would be far easier to kill both the emp and the blaster than it was before. Are you saying that's not the case?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Haven't tried to kill alot of emps in the new system have you.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Admittedly, after the initial changes and seeing the impact on my therm I really had no desire to play my emp (the server died anyway, so I wouldn't have had anyone to buff!).

Sure, I've killed my fair share of people since the changes, but I don't always take note of their powersets and I don't know whether they were any good before the changes, so I'm not going to go all Raven and claim I have definitive proof one way or the other.

I've played an emp enough to know that running for my life was critical to my survival (don't mislead yourself into thinking I was not highly "skilled" in the fine art of evasion simply because I feel folks overstate the amount of skill involved in evading enemies). I'd be absolutely shocked if the consensus among empathy players is that the increased travel suppression, heal decay, status effect and phase changes have made survival easier for an emp.

If it's easier to kill the emp, which it undoubtedly is, then blasters would have needed a considerable buff to keep that duo's performance on par with what it used to be. Are blasters so much better now that it outweighs the nerf to their emp teammate? Not from what I've seen. The reduced healing/buffing support , increased suppression, status effect and phase changes make blasters easier to kill than they were before.

Sorry ConFlict, I know you answered my question with a question because actually answering my question would either prove yourself wrong or ignorant.

Maybe it's you who haven't tried to kill a lot of emps in the new system? Or, did you not try in the old system?

So, is this bid legit?...and are you willing to sell your forum name for 25 million?

Has a nice little ring to it.
  5. Well, I saw the post that said they were deleting messages over 2 years old when they transition to the new forum, so I figured I'd take a walk down memory lane and look at a few of the old messages before they go. For some reason, I thought it'd be interesting (for me anyway ) to post some of the info from those PM's, giving shout-outs to a bunch of PvP'ers who earned my respect in the arena.

A message for Forum_Troll settin' up a Duel "Re: spines/regen vs mind/rad" The sheer number of pets combined with the rad debuffs and TK proved to be too much, and he emerged victorious. He was a good player and a strong duelist. This was the first duel I had lost on my spines/regen and a sign of things to come

A message from Kroll "Hey mandman..." askin' about the duel with Forum_Troll. He was shocked that I lost, as I had recently thoroughly dominated him. We ended up exchanging many messages over the years and I ended up joining his pvp sg, Penance, at one point. He was a very good player and a great guy in general (despite being a Duke fan).

A message from Labrynth "Re: Lingering Radiation" giving me advice on how to slot LR. He had just defeated my spines/regen the previous night with his /rad controller, and I was in the process of leveling a rad/psy. Lab was one of the most knowledgeable and capable pvp'ers I've come across, and I was fortunate to team with him on Death Dealers, Hell Raisers, Penance, and a pvp league team in addition to many pvp nights on both Protector and Test.

A message from Epik "Re: PvP Test Battle" settin' up a Duel on test with his fire/storm. Epik was undefeated at the time, with some sort of crazy record on his home server, and he defeated my scrapper. 30 fire imps!!! :P He definitely has a few strong controllers and was a great duelist.

A message from HoboHealer "Re: Test Build" sayin' he wasn't goin' anywhere near duels with his empath. Hobo's a good player and a good guy. Whereever you are, Cheers!

A meesage from SnipeFu "Re: PvP Battle" agreeing to a duel with his blaster. He was known as a very good blaster, but we never ended up dueling, as I think he left the game shortly thereafter.

A message from Doogie "Re: The Missing Doogie" saying that, like SO MANY others at the time, he had basically moved to WoW. That guy was a trip.

A message from MiniMedic "Re: Protector PvP SG on Test" indicating that he was late for pvp on test 'cus folks were pullin' monsters into the group during the hold phase of the Hami raid (the raid failed). "Some pvp would be nice for anger management. " This guy was a very good healer/buffer/player.

A message from Chucifer "Re: Help with Spines Scrapper" asking about my Hover build, touting dark mastery, and discussing maximum movement slotting. "on test, i have whirlwind with Sprint and swift 6 slotted." Nobody's heard THAT in a long time! Chu was a very good player with Penance, and a very cool guy. Choo Choo!

A message from El Nino "Re: Server Battle" indicating that he was looking forward to the match against Protector whom he referred to as a "worthy opponent." (lolprotectorwhat?) Always liked El Nino and the Tribute folks. There was always a mutual respect between us and we met on the battlefield frequently.

A message from PositronBot "spine/regen" saying he had just rolled up a spines/regen and asking for build input. He was a very good dueler/player on Test with his blaster. He participated in a number of duel tournaments I hosted, winning a few.

A message from DarkMaster "Re: unstoppable runner" (8/05) obviously responding to a PM from me complaining that someone I dueled just ran away the whole time Unstoppable was down. DM was a great ice/em blaster and the first blaster to ever defeat me in a duel. He is also one of the most knowledgeable pvp'ers/players I've ever come across. Great player and probably my longest standing in-game friend.

Messages from Zingo, Blost, and TacRedLine regarding our PvP Team. This was the 1st pvp league, and we were doin' some strategemizin'. We weren't very good! It was a tun of fun though, and my teammates were all good guys and good players.

A message from Aeolus "Re: Arena Weight Class Info" letting me know the arena weight class setting for lvl 38 - 40 is Cruiserweight. I was tryin' to set up a duel tournament from work for that night, and didn't have access to the info. Aeolus was a very good player and always good for pvp info!

A message from Peritus "Re: Rad/Psy Team" agreeing that we should team up our rad/psy's for some 2 v 2 action. "I always imagine the capability of stacked rad/psi though nobody allows us to team up in arena night " Good stuff. He was one of the best duelists/players in the game for a very long time, and extremely knowledgeable. The deadly combination of great player + HUGE numbers guy. We had the first two rad/psy's on Test and would chat about how good they were. I remember him sayin' he didn't want to play his too much 'cus he knew that would just expedite their rise to FoTMness. At the time it was hilarious and prophetic.

A message from Patient V "Re: Take 2" regarding HVND's victory over Penance (I missed it) and indicating that he was a bit burned out on pvp. Apparently, HVND just had better spikes and "flat-out outdamaged us." Patient V's a great player and tremendously knowledgeable. I'm very glad I had the opportunity to fight with him (and learn from him) in Penance.

A message from Moe "RE: 10 Minutes of Pain vs Velocity" responding to my apology for 10MoP forfeiting the match the night before (their players that showed were PISSED!). I F'n hated "leading" a group as I had difficulty committing to any given night. Moe was cool about it though and a good SG leader.

A message from P_Spiner "Re: Match v Lions Den" indicating he agreed with my preference for 10min matches over 20, especially with the DC rules that could leave you a man down for 10+ minutes. He mentioned our previous match with HVND and how we drew the worst possible map for the team we had available. Their 2 kins to our 1 made things extremely difficult. Spiner's a great player and one of the best duelists ever. Another one of my oldest remaining in-game friends, we've been fighting with and against eachother since the arena was introduced.

A message from Soul_Train "Re: Cox Duel Ladder Banner" accepting my thanks for creating the banner for the Duel Ladder web site (sig). Thanks again Soul Train!

A message from PerilX "YO" asking about my status with HR and sayin' he was startin' a new laid back SG. I had the pleasure of fightin' with and against PerilX many a time, and he's a very good/knowledgeable player.

...and that takes us up to July, 2007.

Over the years, I've cleaned out my Inbox many times, but for one reason or another I saved the above messages (and more, but I wouldn't want to bore you! HAHAHHAHAHA). I definitely respected the abilities of all of the above players in the PvP Arena. I know my memory of the above would have disappeared with the forum transition, so I just figured I'd take a little trip down memory lane before that happens. Didn't necessarily mean for this to be a friggin' novel! Hopefully, we still have a few folks left who recognize some of those names and the rest of you find at least one thing in the above post at least somewhat interesting :P

    Keep Duelin'!

  7. Oh, I see you edited your OP in attempt to state your actual point. Thank you! That type of thing is actually quite helpful when you start a new topic.

Now today i managed to jump into a pack of 10+ foes kill 3 or so and get out, while being attacked by atleast 9 of them and a heavy.

So, you're trying to demonstrate that your character is overpowered now?

You said you sucked (i.e. running away was hard) before the changes and now you're Statesman's gift to pvp. If the devs goal was to help the players that sucked, maybe they succeeded?

Do you have any combat logs showing what a emp/blaster duo could do before the changes? You might find the data interesting, if you have it.

Look at THIS log from last night. I was able to attack and defeat three players without ever being attacked! This is proof that pvp is broken and I am all-knowing.

If you can't admit the above is proof that everything I say is 100% accurate, I suggest you get a better education.

For someone that disagrees with what I'm saying

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had no idea what you're trying to say since you gave no indication in the OP what your point was.

After you explained your point, I told you that your "proof" was lacking since it doesn't prove anything.

    [ QUOTE ]
I showed i was able to jump into a pack of foes 10+ player controlled toons, score three or so kills, and escape with out being defeated,

    [/ QUOTE ]

You probably are the best player this game has ever seen, seriously. I have never heard of a single player killing multiple foes before without dying, either before or after the changes, so this really is news.

I stand corrected, and am willing to bow to your pvp superiority.

I never picked on the kids who took the short bus to school, but they never really talked to me. I feel compelled to respond to you however.
  10. Hey genius, how does the above prove your point at all?

Since you appear to be lacking in the areas of logic and reason, I'll help you out a bit. Your above post proves absolutely nothing.
  11. Wow man! You are a frickin' incredible player!

I'm just going to thank the video game lords that not every nub off the street feels compelled to post their combat logs in this forum.

What is the maximum suppressed run speed and jump height/speed that you can reach these days?

What slotting do you recommend to achieve the maximum speed while both suppressed and non-suppressed?

Any input/advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    [ QUOTE ]
What is so hard to understand about that,Sharker_Quint?

    [/ QUOTE ]
HAHAHHAH. You obviously don't know this guy!

Some people find things more difficult to understand than others.

    [ QUOTE ]
YOU are the main character of the interactive story. Everything revolves around the choices YOU make. The opponents YOU defeat. YOU are the HERO!

All the antagonists you face are the VILLAINS.

    [/ QUOTE ]
While I understand your logic here, I think it's flawed from an RP standpoint. In real life villains don't consider themselves to be heroes and don't consider the heroes they're fighting to be villains.

In game, when you're playing as a villain, you often fight heroes. Why are those heroes not labeled as AV's?

I may be crazy, but I think the OP's suggestion makes perfect sense and would be a relatively easy change.

However, if you allow players to label their custom villains as heroes, and those heroes are holding innocent hostages, that would simply blow my RP'ing out of the water. The OP's change would allow this to happen, and I'm worried about all the RP'ers who would get to the end of a mission and be forced to go against hero bad guy. This might cause more than a few heads to explode.

    Anyway...

  15. I'm sorry that I don't take ladder pvp serious enough to make you happy. If I had to listen to people like you on teamspeak every night, I would shoot myself.

You can insult me for never having done anything of note, but I don't care whether or not you respect things that I have done to help pvp. I certainly don't respect anything you've done.

I understand that you're trying to help and that's why I wish you luck. At the same time, I kinda hope someone with half a brain steps up with some better ideas than what you've posted here.

This is hilarious. Because it's so sad.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Too bad you are the sadest PvPer I've ever seen. No commitment, no value to any team, and no skill. Please ask to join Renegades so that I can have the delight of saying "[censored] no"

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Hilarious Spec. You're a fool.

Maybe if I quit real life and committed myself to a pvp team I could help someone compete on a dying video game pvp ladder. I'll have to give it some more thought and decide if that's the direction I want to go.

With your OP, it looks like pvp is now in its most pathetic state since launch. The fact that some folks like your idea speaks volumes about the state of pvp. I think your idea is stupid and wildly egotistical, but I wish you luck. Hopefully, you have fun!
  17. This is hilarious. Because it's so sad.
  18. I found that story very enjoyable.
  19. 5 stalkers vs 5 stalkers would be an exciting match to observe.

ALMOST as exciting as being the only player in an empty pvp zone.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
If you make a statement, and try to validate that with an example, and your example is shown to be incorrect, then yes, it does - to many people - invalidate your whole argument

    [/ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Yes .. and that, to me, says that it COULD invalidate it, not that it automatically does. I should have made that clearer, and that was my mistake.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Your statement indicates that the use of incorrect stats DOES invalidate the whole argument to many people, and based on your comments in this thread a reader could quite reasonably infer that you are one of those people.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I would like to see you give someone a level 50 stalker and one minute worth of instructions and see them not die for hours

    [/ QUOTE ]
Advice: Keep Hide+Stealth running and nobody can see you if you stay out of melee range, so keep your distance by jumping around until you see someone that you can kill with one shot. Make sure you have phase shift available before you attack. Attack with BU + your strongest attack and then phase immediately as you run away. When you're in the clear (hidden), drop phase and wait for it to recharge before attacking again. As you get better, try using BU + Assassin Strike for your one-shots before phasing and/or unload more than one attack before you flee.

By following the above advice, you will be virtually unbeatable, and should be able to "fight" for hours on end with very few (or zero) deaths. Any nub off the street can do that. How long did it take to read that advice? Hopefully, less than 60 seconds…
  22. [ QUOTE ]
    Well your wrong in assuming i dont take chances...Why i just can't have learned ...Why i just can't be….Why i can't just be ….Hell why i can't just be….Why i can't just team...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, hopefully you are better at pvp than you are at the English language...

You like to brag quite a bit about how good you are. That's understandable. It's a game that you play 8 hours a day, so one would hope that you're relatively good. However, you should understand that staying alive on a stalker is not a huge accomplishment, especially since you get to pick your battles and can easily avoid those that would likely result in death.

You could give just about anyone a stealth-capped stalker with phase shift (and 60 seconds of instructions), and he could survive without dying for hours on end while scoring kills.

Brag about it if it makes you feel good, but it doesn't demonstrate any degree of skill.

Never mind. You're probably the best player in the game at this point. Good luck in fightclub! You're rise to the top is inevitable.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

And my point - which he also continuously ignores - is that regardless of how accurate his point is (Yes, Rush is very popular and Successful), he brings the believability of his statement down by using invalid numbers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

100% of posts in this thread criticizing someone for being wrong about the size of Rush Limbaugh's audience are stupid.

The difference between the real numbers and the "off the top of my head" numbers he used was meaningless, as both sets of figures support his claim that Rush is successful.

You can dwell on the numbers, but you just look petty and dumb as you do so, imo.
