Except it doesn't scale that well until you already have SOs.

In all reality, this ends up closer to a 15% "base" damage bonus that pushes the Defender closer to the cap. It's not bad, but it's not all that too.

But 66% damage effectively boosted to 81% damage is still a slightly bit anemic. They probably could have just boosted the base all the way there and left it.

You can also solo a wet noodle if you are masochistic enough. There has been a vocal group here that has been discussing this matter for years.

I think the last time I really brought it up, I asked why do scrappers/tanks/brutes *need* the level of mezz protection they have 'solo'.

They basically played fairly similarly to human form. You *can* solo them, it is not fun.

No, adding 1 or 2 points of mezz protection does not 'negate' mezz. It merely makes it far less annoying.

Played human-form on teams with one and two controllers. Still got mezzed. Call BS on that 'fact'.

My /Electric blaster's hold as well as some of the heavier hitting attacks (and END recovery) require melee range.

None of them have mez protection (except Doms in Domination.)

Saying "X AT lives/doesn't live in melee" is incorrect. The AT doesn't determine it. The powerset and the player's choices in that set do.
True and untrue all at once. My Robot/FF lived in melee (because I'd be in there knocking things around.)

It was also almost 100% safe while doing so because I had the Mezz Protection bubble.

The point is, the developers have basically taken away the choice of any hope of mezz protection in human form so that Dwarf isn't ignored (even though it has its own benefits.)

Their 'balance' trumps my human-form fun.

I saw that too, but I assume that the estimated time is for casual players. At minimum, we might be able to change a notch every day or three.
Actually, I believe the 'cool-down' will be a week. So no flopping back and forth daily (which was always silly.)

Of unhappiness was that Paragon Studios does not accept any unsolicited concepts for content. Guess their advice to me years ago on a Nemesis system I created was not true.

Please note the irony there. Thank you
Actually, in many ways I do think that everyone needs a couple of points of protection (to get them up to at least Boss protection.)

Only one of those ATs listed though 'lives in melee' and Dominators do have some mezz protection (in the click after it is charged up) and have a lot harder controls.

That's the point though. They have mezz protection in human form. It just doesn't work in any shape or form.

If Cosmic Balance/Dark Sustenance didn't have +1 Mag protection per Controller/Dominator, it would be a moot point.

And really, Kheldians have the exact same problem that Defenders had. Solo they have some problems.
  6. No, human-form needs a basic amount of Mezz Protection. Their human inheirent is built around mezz protection, but it's uselessly small.

I *hate* having to take Dwarf form. It went totally against my human-form concept on one of my characters. Mutually exclusive powers are 'not fun'.
  7. Which always starts with Friend & Family. I don't think many waves of closed Beta have happened at this point. It needs to be polished enough so people don't scream about it being a POS in the early stages.
  8. That could be when Closed Beta starts with access to the 'hidden beta forums'.

I'm 100% the other way. I hate stupid time sinks where you have to play one character constantly to earn enough rewards to get 'good sets' and super set of items are forever beyond the semi-casual player.

It's basically gotten to the point that I no longer actually bother to slot up anything but basic IOs. And with all the super-extra amounts of INF beyond the need for that?

I give it away to low level new characters that have backgrounds.

The gulf between have-nots and haves is incredibly wide.

Hmm. I not 100% sure of that any more. I think the developers have been retweeking some of the difficulties at times and have made things generally a little more difficult.

Some AT-combinations are starting to become harder to level.

And I don't even want to talk about the freaking mess they've made of duoing difficulties.

Probably not specifically because of IOs, but I bet it's hard to data mine difficulties of SO builds versus IO builds.
  11. Hehehe! That was the first time that I'd managed to pull that up today. Cute little 'Girl Spiderlings' too!
  12. Futurias

    Closed beta

It'll probably start with the close friends and family, IIRC, before first wave.

    Monday down time

8MB is about the right size for a new booster pack!
  14. Not all hair-styles would require exactly the same effects as capes, though that's probably where they'd start. Looped braids, for instance would probably have little give, but would move.

Do wish for more movement in hair, but I'd be happier for some revamped textures (I'm looking at you, old metallic body...)

That's one of the reasons I hate playing against Mu Arachnos heavy missions. Zap-zap-zap-detoggle. I'll just 'slog' through this mission.

Slogging is not a challenge. It's just slow.
  16. Did anyone actually play-test this?

    Spoilers:

An Elite Boss Zombie/Dark Mastermind? That's as nasty as a Ballista.

And Minions with an END drain? A 100% total turn off. Maybe the third arc won't have grievous balance issues.
  17. While it's not a Phys-X animation, it isn't static animations. I believe it is closer to a mesh of stretchy points that has a tendency to flow downward and in the direction of the wind slightly.

    It's semi-physics, basically. I think.

Eh, I'm nearly a 69 month Vet, not in Beta.
  19. No, we were noticing them (and occasionally face-planting.) Arachnos and Longbow always suck rocks, less wiggle room.
  20. Only if I get a boot-to-the-head power.
  21. That is really weird. Could it have something to do with the ages of the accounts? That shouldn't make a difference though.

    Strange-strange.
  22. And it didn't only happen during ToT, though that is an example where it happened at really low levels.
  23. A boss, 2 lts and 2 minions should never spawn for a heroic duo. Especially at 7th level.

This is not a case of 'your are doing it wrong.' This is a case where something is broken.
