  1. The more I look at the expansion's wording, the less I think that it is 'side switching'...In fact, it looks a heck of a lot like a simple coop zone with dividing storyline.

Not that actually being able to make 'choices' in a storyline is a bad thing (about damned time actually) but it really doesn't look like it's going to be actual side-switching.

and they still lack ANY team buffs, and they still wont be doing corruptor/blaster levels of dmg.

[/ QUOTE ] You missed the part where He Said damage buff. They will be getting blaster level damage. Hell their mods will be .95 for range and 1.25 for melee. Thats hella good enough for me.

    it's a nerf to level 50 doms

    https://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat...=0&fpart=54

there's math in the thread behind it.

not a big nerf mind you, but it does make one desire perma-dom less and in fact may no longer need to perma-dom at all.

still, that dom STILL isnt bringing anything to the table that isnt done better by a controller or blaster. in fact, fault or footstomp offer enough soft control for most things that even a controller isnt necessary - unless you couldnt find an empathy or kin defender.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    a dominator 'comparative nerf'. right.

You know, I said the exact same thing about /ea, /wp and /ragen stalkers when the nimrods increased the base HP without increasing the HP cap... those three sets got massively 'comparatively' nerfed.

The same people griping about the dominator changes are the ones that were saying that what stalkers got wasn't a comparative nerf to some sets. To hell with them.
  4. I gotta hand it to Positron.
He couldn't have done a better job advertizing for CO if he'd still veeb working there. Hey, have any of you guys noticed Matt Miller's new car? suspicious, ain't it?

I am not one of those people that have been trying to say CO will be better than CoH, far from it, I think CO will be a travesty until they fire Jack Emmert for a game designer that has a clue what people like.

But what with all the crippling blocks on the MA making it essentially a worthless eyesore, the threatening of his playerbase, the bait-and-switch tactics, and the firing of a really good guy trying to keep the public in the loop (lighthouse) Miller sure as hell has made me willing to give DCUO a fair shake.
  5. [ QUOTE ]

Third, the general public has already spoken. Whenever there's Scrapper vs Brute vs Tanker threads outside of this forum, Tankers are not viewed as favourably as they are here. Some of the people here need to take their blinders off to see that, but regardless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you need to stop worrying so much about what other people think and just play the game.
  6. All I can say is that with real tanks Redside, The brute and mastermind numbers are going to decline drastically. 'tankerminds' and 'brutanks' are going to be showed up as the poor second rate alphastoppers that they are.

I have played my tanker co-ops with the villains many times, and without fail they are almost shocked at how much MORE capable tanks are of keeping a team, and even a team full of pets, alive.
  7. welp, there goes any reasons to play dominators, corrupters, or brutes.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Pssssst! You seem to have missed both Psi Blast...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yah, there's a reason for that :P
  9. Arcs that will likely get banned:

Any arc where you are beating up a minority only, whether it be lesbians, a certain race (gee..the devs violate that with both the Tsoo and the banished pantheon... go figure) or a certain social subgroup (Is neonazi-bashing just as bad as what the neonazis do? That's one of the reasons the fifth column got pulled in the first place.)

Arcs about certain politically taboo or hot subjects. (Hunting down Iraqi terrorists or employees of an abortion-legal clinic)

Arcs involving child abuse, sexual abuse, Misogyny (although apparently misandry is perfectly alright as evidenced by the carnival. I guess some genders are more equal than others)

Arcs involving, torture, [censored] (of any gender) necrophilia, or any deviant behavior or crimes more serious than a willingness to kill(In the abstract) and steal stuff.

Any arcs which, through storyline or even misinterpretation of available information, might hint at this sort of behavior.

so, when are the carnies(misandry), vahzilok(Torture), Tsoo(racial profiling), and banished pantheon(Racial and religious profiling) enemy groups getting removed from the game?

We've added a TON more datamining hooks exclusively for Mission Architect as well, so we can easily see spikes in aberrant behavior. Spikes point us to exploits, which points us to log files, which reveal the identities of exploiters. So if you find a really big exploit in the system, I'd encourage you to PM me or another Dev and try to get your Bug Hunter badge, as the alternative is not pretty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really realy really don't like the wording here. I wonder just what is considered an expliot. You called running KHTF once every three hours an expliot so I wondering what "exactly" is meant here by expliot?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If your personal moral compass flip flops or even wavers a little while doing something in the game that is obvious to you is not intended behavior, it's probably an exploit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am autistic, I don't have a personal moral compass as you know it, I have a self-generated set of codes which I abide by created by interactions with others and by the statements of those in a position to know, that guides my actions in an attempt to remain capable of socially interacting with others.

The only 'moral compass' I possess is the golden Yule, or 'do unto santa clause as you would have santa clause do unto you."

Based upon my experiences with everquest, the only solid 'exploits' I have been able to uncover are:

'taking advantage of a break in geometry in order to attack in such a manner that mobs cannot attack you back'. Apparently this was a problem, which was why all mobs in the game were given ranged attacks, including recently the MA ones.

'taking advantage of a bug that allows you to obtain something in a metagame fashion that would otherwise require extreme measures to obtain' such as taking advantage of a bug to duplicate purples or hami-O's. That I understand and steer clear of.

'taking advantage of a bug that allows you to grief other players in a fashion which does not allow a response' I have never done this, although every person who's ever street sweeped in atlas park has had a kill stolen by a level 50. Things such as the hurricane in the hospital pvp problem and base-teleport griefing are definitely examples of this.

So, what else qualifies as 'exploits' and makes YOUR personal moral compass flipflop?

I think that there should be several new badges for the new direction the game seems to be moving towards.

tattletale- 100 mission arcs were banned that you reported as having inappropriate content, such as a 'kill all mission' or too many enemies of one particular type.

Stool Pigeon- 100 characters or accounts were banned that you reported for 'exploitative' behavior, such as asking for teams in atlas park and levelling faster than you.

Fun Police- 100 characters were banned or genericed after you reported their name as a violation or offensive in some way, or reported anything that they might have let slip as inappropriate content.

Take 'em down a notch- 10 mission arcs that you 0-starred lost hall of fame status.

Rat fink-If you report over 10,000 seperate potential exploits, regardless of their veracity or applicability, you gain the 'rat fink' badge. Each time you report a potential exploit by a member of your own supergroup, you gain credit for 100 reports, as reporting on your friends is the very essence of Rat fink.

Crybaby- Every post that gets moderated at your suggestion adds to this badge, and when you get 1000 posts moderated you gain the crybaby badge. This badge applies to every character on your account.

And, of course, if you get all Six badges you get the 'Judas' Accolade.

Judas- Your outstanding ability to find every hint of negative in any positive situation and your willingness to report every minor offense has given you the Judas accolade. You gain a special power that places 'Judas' in large blinking letters on teamsearch and after every global or broadcast message you transmit. Good luck ever finding a team again, jerk.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Alright, you may have missed a few.

Unimaginative: You've been genericed a character who was a blatant clone of a trademarked character.

Rip-off Artist: You've been genericed at least three times for characters who were clones of trademarked characters.

FFA: You've been petitioned at least five times for posting farms.

Farmer: You've published an arc that was banned for being a farm.

Agricultural Tool: You've published three farms that were banned.

LFT-Spammer: You've broadcasted LFT at least ten times while your LFT flag was turned to "Not Looking".

Golden Gate: You've spent at least 10 hours with your XP turned off and a SK attached to you.

Uber-Noob: Your first L50 was PL'ed for at least 40 of it's levels.

Perma-Noob: Your first 5 L50's fit the description above. You gain a special power that places 'Perma-Noob' in large blinking letters on teamsearch and after every global or broadcast message you transmit. Good luck ever finding a team again, jerk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not a bad idea, I think you should start your own suggestion thread for these. I especially like the 'Golden Gate'. I would probably even get the LFT spammer badges, since over the last 5 years I have probably does that for a total of at least ten times.

maybe you should add a special badge for someone that PL's a character that has one of their own characters level pacted? like the 'self' motivated badge or something?
  12. How about a flat fee for additional slots instead of a rental fee?
say, another 10% of the listing price for items that break your 'list cap', payable up front? or perhaps even a gradually-increasing fee scale for each 'extra' slot, starting at 5% fee and gradually incrementing upwards.
  13. was this post-pvp nerf?

There was a pretty massive change to PVP mechanics as far as how debuffs were applied, and that seemed to include proc-based debuffs.

    8. Gun drone isn't horrible, but the summon animation needs to be shortened, and it needs another attack to chain better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I disagree. That long animation acts like a mini-aim for increasing my attack chain's damage. 40% may not seem like much, but on an ar/dev especially it can mean the difference between slaughtering an entire spawn and getting slaughtered by a bunch of guys at 10% health.

    [ QUOTE ]
well, apparently you can do it with 'custom' characters, but based on the recent buffs to custom characters, it looks like that minion you have in the center of the group is going to slaughter the entire lowbie team.

(Yes, my defender yesterday got two-shot by a 'custom' +0 minion.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, ran into that a lot on my own missions. No wonder everyone's afraid of this thing now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Authors need to exercise some care when designing custom mobs. It's hard to make mobs easy.

Generally, standard/standard minions with scrapper or blaster primary and secondary sets are fairly equivalent to minions that appear in the standard groups. But when you start using hard and extreme, and (paradoxically) tanker attack sets like Super Strength, Mace and Stone, you start running into problems with characters getting one- and two-shot.

The MA really needs an automatic calculation of difficulty based on the presence of EBs, AVs and bosses, and the sets/levels chosen for the mobs, number of ambushes, etc. Right now you have absolutely no idea how tough a mission is going to be, unless the author deigns to tell you in the description.

One thing that would really help players would be to get and use powers that stun and immobilize, and not just focus on damage and defense. If a mob is stunned or can't touch you, they're not going to do much damage. Especially at low levels, an immobilize is almost as good as a hold for the majority of standard mobs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

used to be... have you checked out how damaging some of the new 'ranged attacks on melee mobs' are?

Nothing like a shuriken that can take off half of a controller's health thrown by a minion.

What you are saying is no one should use the term, ever.

    No.

[/ QUOTE ]No, I'm saying that if you want to use a term repeatedly for a specific problem inside mission arc reviews, either coin a term, or use something with that agreed-upon definition without increasing ambiguity. You know, communicating an idea with words. I'm sure there's a page about that on tvtropes.

  22. you forgot the 'and your willingness to report every minor violation' part.
