I'm going to need to buy construction paper...

Quote:I think to anybody who's watched the past several months of competition would understand that the rule is intended to be extremely lose. I mean seriously, a baby chicken on fire qualified and a mako in a bikini. If it's chick like or hawt, it qualifies. You said you'd enforce the rules carefully to avoid last year's dramah. You put in the 'Hot Chicks Rule' in the official rules. I wouldn't blame anyone for calling you out on it, because you want to enforce it so lackadaisically. If it was never a requirement, then you should have not added it in the first place.
Why is this such a big deal? We had some problems the first month with it, it got clarified, and now everybody seems to understand it.
Why get so uptight over a competition with absolutely no prize for winning. Don't forget this is supposed to be fun and challenging. It becomes significantly less fun when folks are arguing about the rules all the time.
And Caemgen...seriously. Your entry was FINE. Stay in the competition. -
My votes (and I wish I got like 5 votes because it was hard to narrow it down to 3.)
1) Shia
2) Tartyrsause
3) JohnnyKat -
Quote:Er...I'm not Wassy of course but I'm pretty darn sure that's not what she was trying to imply.Forget it...no worries. I'm sorry for having an opinion on it. Being a non-artist, I should know to keep them to myself.
Chill out guys. Caemgen, your entry was fine. Don't drop out. -
I17 hasn't had an open beta. Since I17 and Going Rogue aren't linked, one would assume I17 will have an open beta before it goes live.

Quote:Your only option at this point is pretty much "get a new computer/motherboard with PCIe"Well, my computer has no PCI-e port... Only AGP and normal PCI... Are there any suggestions with that in mind?
Don't believe there's any AGP video cards out there that will run ultramode. -
-
It also doesn't help that most other programs don't do the same priority switching that CoH does. That's just how it's programmed.

Quote:The HD 3200 is an onboard (integrated) card that shares system memory. It bugs me that somebody KNOWS, and just can't talk about it right now. (Damned NDA's.)
That's the only reason I was disappointed about not getting into this CB. Personally, the rest of the CB's later for the loyalty program I can happily pass up now, I was interested in Ultra Mode more than anything else. But I digress...
Most laptops with named graphic cards from ATI or NVidia with a few exceptions* are not "integrated" but "dedicated". You can't tell from the outside the laptop apart from the cover stickers/system specs for your model. The model you linked is a Dedicated Graphic Card model (can't speak for your prior one, since I have no clue what it is.)
The laptop difference for dedicated cards is that the graphics are not on a single on-board chip and usually does not share memory with your System RAM. Dedicated laptop cards are separate from the motherboard and typically use their own Graphics Card Memory chips.
=====
* Examples are on both sides of the fence: My Gateway Netbook is using an integrated ATI Radeon X1270 (LT3103u), and NVidia ION Chipsets on netbooks and uITX motherboards are examples of an on-board integrated graphic card. Also, anything Intel provides is an integrated graphic card, and with few exceptions, will not run CoH at all.
Edit: 333 posts... I'm officially half-evil!
The line is very blurry these days. -

Shia, I think your second one is way stronger. Probably a good thing you had to reformulate it!
Caemgen, good to see you were able to get something in
Mine is still coming. Hoping to get most of it finished tonight. -
Phase I of my entry has been completed. Beginning Phase II!
*Hunts down a Kronos Titan* -
Nice.
It seems that the countess of hearts was a common theme. -
-
Boo! Really sorry to hear that Caemgen. Pretty sure we've all been in a similar situation before (puting a lot of time into something and then losing it). Hate it when that happens :-/
I really hope you can find it somewhere. -
That, I can understand. Just not how the whole "low income family" bit has anything to do with not trusting yourself to leave the money alone as the OP seems to be intent on specifying...
-
Quote:So, why, exactly, is this money going to vanish in the next 6 months if it's set aside specificaly to pay for a CoH subscription. As I mentioned earlier, "Keep the money available" isn't an option for a LOW INCOME FAMILY. If you can't read the OP please don't add useless information.
Low income or not, you're still spending the money. You're telling me it's physically impossible for you to sit on however much it is until the sub renews? If that's the case, perhaps this money could be better spent elsewhere.
Oh, I read the OP. Your objection just doesn't make any sense at all. -
The HD 3200 is a Tier 3 level graphics card:http://www.notebookcheck.net/Compari...rds.130.0.html
It may run base COH fairly well but it will NOT run ultra mode anywhere near playable standards. -
Good entries so far.
I still have nothing :-/
EDIT: Scratch that. I now have something. -
I have an idea but much like last month, I'm having problems making something that isn't total garbage.
Bah. -
Congrats on your proficiency with doing nothing!
-
I would probably remove the HP from your consideration. The Radeon Mobility HD3200 is fairly lackluster.
-
The Compaq Presario cq61-410ous should work pretty well (game will be playable at mid level graphic settings.
Any other Netbook class computer (Unless you find one with an Nvidia ION) is probably going to land you in the same boat as far as performance goes. They're just not quite powerful enough to run 3d games. -
You know what this just made me realize? I'm thinking really hard but I don't believe I've ever actually seen anybody use whirlwind in-game. In 6 years.
