One interesting thing I've noticed is that with CoD up I can jump a boss on one side of the group and only aggro the nearest mobs, the rest of the group doesn't notice. I guess stealth is a form of mitigation.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a -huge- form of mitigation. It's one of the two reasons I can not play other secondaries. Other reason is Dark Regen.
Being able to ghost (with the help of a stealth IO in sprint) TF, Flashbacks, missions, or just take down one group beside another is very nice, never gets old and has spoiled me. -
I realize this is a little late, but I have tri-boxed all of the AVs in RV playing my tanker, empath and scrapper since the pvp changes. Ghost Widow was the worst but even she was pretty timid in RV now.
The AV Ghost Widow that they spawned for the anniversary event, was the STF version, not the RV (timid) version.
If people really want/need these badges, its fair easier and simpler to get them without an event that notifies everyone. -

A very big congratulations!!!

If you have ever fought him with serious intent you know what his biggest hurdle is. He has an attack that shuts off your recovery totally.
[/ QUOTE ]
While that is a bad thing, his most troublesome attack is that 32K damage cone attack I have seen him do on multiple occasions, killing four people at the same time on one occasion, wiping several MSTF attempts.
The end drain is troublesome, but a 32K attack, like GWs binary hold, is just unnecessary. -

Please use this thread to discuss the FAQ for Going Rogue.

Seems pretty pointless to ask but is Castle still working on Power Proliferation? I don't see a need now that people can swap sides.
No need to make the Shard co-op when villains can just waltz to PI.
Forget merging the markets, people can just go from Talos to Cap and check prices.
With other things listed on that 'marketing survey' now coming true and BABs lower-than-normal presence mean he's busy working on Power Customization which is sort of hinted at in the video? -

Considering most "adjustments" in every MMO seem to be done with a barrage of sledgehammers when the fine tuning of a single screwdriver would actually make sense, is anyone surprised by any of this?
[/ QUOTE ]
1. Fixed that for you.
2. Not really. Seen this for many years across many MMOs. -

I never see posts on Dark Armor or any recommendations for DA.
[/ QUOTE ]
DA is a really powerful, well balanced set. It does has issues recently only because of changes recently made. Such as, Zombies in the Zombie invasion, Cimerorians and many harder Custom MArc Critters can not be stunned or feared very easily if at all. Making Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom both near worthless.
The recently changes to defense, also make Defense based sets, Shield/WP/SR even more godly; SR especially with its OP'ed defense debuff resistance.
As a resist based set, DA and FA suffer painfully from a lack of defense debuff resistance. Their are a lot of minions that have defense debuffs. I generally have to take out specific minions first before anything else to avoid having my stacked Defense removed by that one stupid minion in the back pelting me. -

please please please...
After being on COH for a while now... i would like to suggest, not only for annoyance factor, but also attributed to lag in game, that Power Suppression should be used inside Wentworths AND the recently added Architect Entertainment Building.
[/ QUOTE ]
God no.
I would actually like to see Power Suppression removed. I want AutoCast to work again. Its bad enough already that I have to constantly force Hasten and every other auto power to fire because it wont. -

While I do have hearing, it's a bit hard to tell the difference between the music and the glowies.
.
Thanks!
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm tone deaf. I enable the Doppler effects to help me find the glowies. Years ago, the glowie sounder was changed and I couldn't hear them for weeks. I had to invite other people to help me finish my missions. I still remember giving up on poor Serafina's bottle 3 times out of frustration during that time.
So you know you have my 100% support.
CHIBI ! * hug hug hug * -
Mission name: Freak Occurence
Arc ID: 6595 (Thank you NF! *hug hug hug *)
Morality: Heroic
Length: Medium; 3 missions
Description: A mysterious build up of Freakshow is occurring at an abandoned warehouse in Brickstown. Sister Psyche asks you to investigate.
What you were drinking when this was created?: Pepsi while eating Soft Batch Chocolate Chip cookies!!
I will be adding more custom bosses to the last mission, which currently has two. I would like to change the last mission map to something similar to Monkey Isle or the Talos DE island map that some missions use.
Thank you NF for telling me about this thread in the 'whee' (Jade-like whee) hours of the morning! -
My concern is, if I understand the merit system correctly, it seems like it will kill the market. With just generic Io recipes being dropped, soon influence will be useless.
Players will use merits for set recipes. This seems nice to kill off influence farmers but influence farmers and Leader badge farmers are the main sources of purple recipes. If you make influence nigh useless, influence farmer may leave, which is good, but when they leave the input of purple recipes into the market will dry up.
AHs will still have salvage, since it will be needed for bases. But after bases are completed and purples bought, AHs might be pretty empty.
EDIT: Typo. Typed "since it will not be needed" but meant "since it will be needed". Sorry. -
My information probably isn't necessary but I will share it.
General Tips
Load up on Purple and Orange inspirations. They are very cheap and can be purchased in Ouroborus from Mendor Roebuck. Use them for -every- AV with PBAoE except Korol of course. It takes very little time to go to Ozone to purchase more. Taking a couple of minutes to restock can save hours of effort.
Elusive Mind Accolade, the Psi resist and Psi defense power, is incredibly handy for Mission 2, Regent Korol.
Eye of the Magus is so nice. It gives defense and resistance. It has a 25 minute base recharge that is lowered by hasten, global IO set bonuses, Speed Boost, Accelerate Metabolism, Adrenaline Boost and Geas of the Kind Ones. My strategy for using Magus is to pop Geas to help recharge Magus. If you have a Kinetics on the team, then using Geas to help recharge Magus probably isn't necessary.
Lastly, if possible, get a Sonic defender. The amount of damage their powers mitigate is massive. This is especially true for the AV Tree, Scirocco's PBAoE and Lord Recluse while the Blue and Red towers are up.
Mission 1
A Dark Armor scrapper with Cloak of Darkness can -easily- solo the underground cables because CoD's stealth does not get suppressed upon attacking.
Mission 2
MuDrakhan - Has an PBAoE that can do decent damage so squishes should stay bad. I believe he fires it off at 75% and 25% if not held.
Korol - Psi damage. Has a PBAoE Nuke at 50% health. Remember to use Elusive Mind Accolade if you have it.
Shadow Spider - Uses Caltrops. So she can be slightly frustrating.
Viridian - Uses Caltrops. Has an PBAoE, Dragon's Tail. This can hit for a good amount so squishies should stay back. It will not one-shot them but having multiple people hit can cause unneeded stress.
Mission 3.
The AV tree is usually the first hurdle for Master badgers. Flying is bad because people can fly high enough to get noticed by the Tree and get one-shot. Do not use Fly or Super Jump unless the person is a tank. Put a leash on Regen scrappers, melee prone controllers and blappers.
The strategy Jerm used, and I like a lot, is a 1 and 1/2 rotation method. Start at roughly the 8 o'clock position, reduce the vines HP to ~20% working clockwise to roughly the 3 o'clock position.
Do NOT go too far. Veterans will know the area. There is an area around the 3 o'clock position where the Tree -will- start attacking people. Do NOT enter this. At this point reverse and dropping all vines to the 8 o'clock position.
At this time, everyone should pop a couple of purple and orange inspirations or Eye of the Magus, then the tank gets in front of the Tree while scrappers go in behind the tank clearing vines. Squishies clear vines from range, being -very- careful.
Tank stays in front while scrappers and the rest clear vines to the 3 o'clock position.
Important points are;
- Use purple and orange inspirations. They are very cheap and can prevent deaths.
- Do NOT Fly or use Super Jump. I have seen players Jump and Fly over a rock formation only to get one-shot, far too many times to justify the risk.
- The Jerm 1 and 1/2 rotation method helps low damage teams by minimizing the vine respawn time.
Mission 4
DO NOT go AFK inside this mission. If someone needs an AFK, they should leave the map. This is because the ambushes spawn with preset targets. When those 3-5 ambushers attack that AFK person, they will kill them and it will fail the Master attempt.
It usually works better to take the ambushes outside. I have seen the ambushers spawn on the upper level, surrounding the team, spawn under the ramp, even spawn in the first AV room and run back into the first room, catching the team by surprise.
Wretch - PBAoE around 10% HP. It can do a lot of damage and stuns. The stun along with the damage can be stressful for healers.
Silver Mantis - Uses Caltrops.
Barracuda - don't remember anything special
Ice Mistral - Uses PBAoE Ice Storm type attack. While it isn't very damaging it does reduce recharge.
Dr. Aeon - Has some sort of PBAoE. I'm not sure what it is but I have seen it completely wipe teams if it catches them unaware and/or Dr. Aeon isn't held. Buff up, pop Purples and Oranges or use Eye of the Magus.
Mission 5
I prefer to try Ghost Widow first. If someone dies, then the pressure if off the team sooner.
Ghost Widow - Howling Twilight and possibly Dark Regen if target is in melee range. Stack 10 Clear Minds or equivalent on the tank. Melee can attack her but to do so the tank has to taunt her from range.
Scirocco - Uses a PBAoE at 95% and again at 25%. Do NOT be in melee range when his AoE is due without having Eye of the Magus on or using Purples and Oranges. I have seen his PBAoE wipe teams on several occasions.
Black Scorpion - Uses a PBAoE attack I call Tail Whip but that might not be the actual name. It uses it at approxiamately 75%, 50%, 25%. It can do a lot of damage to each target. If it hits several melee characters, this can cause a lot of stress. Use Purples and Oranges or Eye of the Magus.
Captain Mako - Uses Elude at 10%. Has a PBAoE attack occasionally. It can do a lot of damage. Keeping Fort on melees or keep one Purple and one Orange active to lower the odds and the damage from this attack.
Towers - The blue tower was recently fixed. It gives a +To Hit buff to Lord Recluse. I would -highly- recommend that this be your first target, followed by the Red tower and then the rest of the towers as you see fit. Because the blue tower was fixed, I would recommend keeping a healer on the tank, even Stone Armor tanks, until the Blue and Red towers are down. The current Blue tower buff along with the Red towers damage bonus allows Lord Recluse to chew through even Stone tanks. [u]Do NOT take this part lightly or you will fail.[u]
One word of caution. The Flier can respawn at anytime. To avoid aggro, fight on the side of the towers AWAY from the center. I have been on teams where it respawn 3 times while we were taking down the towers. Plan for it to happen but hope that it doesn't reappear.
Lord Recluse - He has a medium range 32K damage attack that will one-shot everyone in its path. I have seen this one attack kill 3 people. He has killed me with it more than once. To lower the risk of the healer and the tank both dying from this attack, the healer should NEVER place themselves, the tank and Lord Recluse in a straight line. Instead, stand/fly at a 90 degree angle from the tank.
- Until the Blue and Red towers are down, the tank will most likely need to keep one purple and one orange active or Eye of Magus to help lower the incoming damage. I have seen several stone tanks need help during this time. Again, [u]DO NOT take this part of the fight lightly or you will fail the challenge.[u]
- Radiation Infection seems to prevent him from spawning adds.
- Has an Endurance drain power. I believe this is associated with the blue tower however, until the first two towers are down, the tank can have their endurance drained. Stay alert.
- Has an occasional PBAoE attack. I have never noticed a pattern to this, so melee may wish to keep one Purple and one Orange active to lower the incoming damage.
- At 10% Summons a ton of Banes. Pop Purples and Oranges or use Eye of the Magus. -

Many other things mentioned in the thread I have seen elsewhere or done better in other games including balance between world and instanced content, progression, loot, social tools, etc. The gameplay itself isn't especially innovative but it serves the purpose it was created for well.
Other things such as class/power balance, combat mechanics, etc are really low points in my opinion and something I really hope the devs take some hard looks at for major overhauls if they ever do a CoX 2.

I have played online games for over a decade. I -despise- the online Fantasy mold of looting items, competition, camping, kill stealing, finite world resources, farming to buy required items for raids, promising features in an expansion that gamers pay for only to find that half of the content is missing but patched in 6 months later and now the marketing spins this as a positive.
I played WoW, raided and farmed for those limited world resources until I realized that farming had become a job. I was paying to be an online farmer just to raid. No thanks.
I like that the mob AI isn't the brightest thing in the world. It makes the game a fun thing to play while I unwind from work chatting with friends and arresting baddies. I like this leisurely pace. EQ, WoW, FFXI and LOTRO all had their mobs get increasingly harder to fight. All this does is remove that content from casual players and players without uber guilds. That is really bad game design because it creates jealousy and all the negative things along with it. Sure, it was nice to finally beat something you were working on. But those 4-14 days of 'learning the encounter' -really- take a toll on everyone's moral and drive many good people away.
I love the 'debt to society' system and amazed it wasn't mentioned. In EQ and FFXI, when you died, you -lost- exp. It was possible to lose levels. I never understood that. WoW took a different approach in that the players items lost duribility. That, however, just creates an ever increasing demand for money and led to their massive RMT problem.
I love that missions are instanced. WoW, EQ, FFXI and LOTRO, all did not use this feature enough. I know it must take a lot of work but they create a huge opportunity be extremely creative and advance the story.
CoH gives it's players a wealth of opportunities. I can street sweep if I wish or run missions from contacts, radio missions and the Safeguard, Task Forces and take part in a Hami/Mothership raid. All of this as a nightly regular all without being in an uber guild. Sign me up!!!
Loot here isn't soulbound. I can trade any recipe/salvage to anyone I know, meet, auction or sell it. I will die happy if I never see another online fight over a soulbound item again.
Here, their isn't a need for 'Raid Point Systems' or other such nonsense. This is a game that broke with traditions that other companies seem to blindly follow. Things here allow the players to play the game, how they want to, at their pace on their schedule, without needing an uber guild to get things done.
The only two things, I would -really- like to see is locking the UI so I dont accidently move things and saving my UI layout, settings, and colors so that I don't need to take 10 minutes setting this up on any new characters I create.
CoH >>> All others
ADDITIONAL:
Oh my goodness, I forgot MAPS !
EQ and FFXI did not even have map in them!!! EQ added a strange mapping system later but at launch it didn't even have maps. -
I really enjoy the Eden trial. I picked the Titain O on purpose -- to have as a keepsake for the event. I did the same thing with the Sewer Trial.
Game Makers seem to always fall into the the "new content over fixes" routine. They forget that their customers will still be running the old content before and after the new content is released.
I agree with others. Take an issue off and fix the bugs. Revamp the Eden and Sewer trials to be level 50 events. Personally, I would recommend for every 3rd issue, to take a moment to reflect back on old content. If things are fine then continue on. If not, then consider a Review/Revamp/Fix issue instead.
Look at the Hamidon encounter again. Most will never run this when you can run any other TF/Trial in the game and get more rewards for far less risk, and far less team resources needed. The need to have multiple groups for this event should justify multiple rewards. Let us have multiple Recipes, or multiple HOs, maybe one of HO and one Recipe.
Revamp/Review the Shadow Shard. Few ever go their and the Task Forces are overly long. Dr Quarterfield TF, has multiple missions that could be eliminated simply because they are identical to next mission.
