But the Raid Teleporter isn't a Crafted Item? Because it was showing up in the place items window, I thought that was where the other Pad would be as well.
-
D'oh! Sorry about the false alarm. Still a N00b at building/redesigning bases.
-
I have a 3x4 Secure Teleport Bay with the two Basic Telepads (and attached beacons) that I moved into there from the (now deleted) Teleport Chamber. I have 133k Prestige, 1025 Energy, and 90 Control available.
Yet it won't let me add even one more Basic Telepad because it doesn't appear in the Add Items selection!
What am I doing wrong? -
Strange. Sometimes it's fine, and sometimes it's garbage.

Quote:That did the trick! Thanks, everybody (and especially Kheldarn)! I had no idea that one of the problem was an extension made of all caps, expecially since caps in the rest of it work normally. There are two things you will need to do:
1) Rename the extention of the image to be all lowercase - from .PNG to .png. vB is stupid, and doesn't recognize ALL CAPS extentions as being the same as all lowercase extentions.
2) Replace the ~ with %7E. Once you've renamed the extention, the following URL should work just fine:
http://home.comcast.net/%7Emultisteveb/myfilelocker/B-17G-thumb.png -

Well, I tried the %7e replacement for the tilde, and the Edit Avatar page just come right back to itself with the defaults again.
Is it not liking that it's not a "www." address? Or the hyphens? At least I didn't get a rejection page this time.
I'll change the hyphens to underscores next to see if that helps. -
Quote:Really? I can understand rejecting things like "<" and ">" to prevent injection attacks, but what's the harm of a tilde? (Thanks for pointing this out -- I didn't see the tilde in the message given when it rejected the url.)It's cos of the tilde (~).

Quote:Create a free account on Photobucket or ImageShack and upload the image to that account, then you can use it for your forum avatar.
Or, you could follow the steps in Aggelakis's link and use the %7e replacement for the tilde. Or use Zombie Man's suggestion there to use tinyurl to mask the link.
True, but in addition to the 100x100 pixel dimension limit, they could also easily impose a file size limit. Off the top of my head, I would think that a meg is sufficient for an avatar, yet still small enough so that the space usage isn't excessive. Especially considering that Terabyte hard drives are now inexpensive. Currently there are 165053 members on the CoH Forums. 2 megs each for an avatar would mean about 350 GB of storage (or about 700 GB in a [1] mirrored array). Not really a break-the-bank one-time expenditure. -
Help! The Forum website rejects the address that my Comcast account requires for my uploaded files. Specifically:
http://home.comcast.net/~multisteveb...-17G-thumb.PNG
Why can't I use this address, and why can't the tiny avatar images be uploaded & stored directly on the Forum server(s)?
It was a nightmare just to get the image into my space on Comcast, and now I find out I can't use it in the Forums?

Quote:Thanks for the tip. I've joined the BaseBuildersInc. channel. It seems to happen often enough that it's not rare, but I wouldn't say it's all the way up to common.
I suggest joining the BaseBuildersInc. channel, if you're interested in doing it yourself and just getting the occasional bits of help. That way, whenever you're specifically in need, you can immediately ask.
Here's another question. I'm the SG Leader, and have all permissions, yet the Promote and Demote buttons for my SG are greyed out. Any ideas why I can't do either (yet can still kick)?
And what would everybody recommend for a limit on inactive time before being demoted/kicked?
(I know those two aren't directly related to building a Base.)

When I try to go to http://www.cityofheroes.com/en.html, all I see is gibberish like this:

Hi, I could use some help mastering the base design interface, as I have recently inherited a SG+base (Team of Justice). But a question first: Is inheriting a SG (+base) rare, uncommon, or does it actually happen fairly frequently?
I'm on the Guardian server, global chat handle @SteveZi11a.
EDIT: I for got to add that the SG base is on the Hero (blue?) side. -
Quote:I want the head of a Bull. You can't do a decent Minotaur without a bull head (bull horns on a human head doesn't cut it). And a Minotaur isn't a "furry".If I could find it, I'd point to the post where Jay, the guy in charge of creating costume parts, said he refuses to do any more animal parts because he doesn't like furries... so I don't see much chance of those parts making it into the game...
Quote:Except that now there are several more people working on costume sets, and I was told by one of the devs at the comic con, to not be too surprised with the Natural set... >_>
And another Head that would be good IMO would be a Cyclops. That would give us two mythological monsters by doing just a head (or two) each. -
Quote:Or maybe his character has the Wi Flag?I know back-to-back defeats are frustrating, but you have to try to remember that from time-to-time the RNG is just against you.
I can sympathize, as I've also wanted to combine some ranged attacks with defenses. A Blaster/Tanker (Blanker?) Archetype. But I've had good luck so far with my Electric/Electric Blaster using the electrical brawls (and Air Superiority) to compliment the ranged attacks. -
Quote:I remain unconvinced.Because you can take the minions out much, much faster, and remove that damage from the equation early and easily.
If you start "at the top", those minions continue doing damage to you--as does the boss. The entire time you're trying to take down the boss, you're taking 100% of the entire spawn's damage. If you start from the bottom, by the end of the fight, you're just taking the boss's damage, and each minion you take out reduces the damage you're taking for the rest of the fight.I can often take down an equal leveled-Lieutenant before he can get off more than one power, thus very little of the damage I take is from the lone "boss". Build Up, Zapp, Lightning Bolt, and Ball Lightning often does the trick. Then for the minions who reach me I have a special treat -- Air Superiority, Charged Brawl, and Havoc Punch. (What, no evil grin emoticon here?)

What were the contents of the CoV Collector's Edition box? Did it come with a Heroclix of Lord Recluse?
-
Quote:Hmm. But collectively speaking, won't the minions have as much or more health than the lone Lieutenant/Boss? If taking out one target takes out ~half of the group's damage potential, why not start "at the top"?A lot of people think the same way and, in many cases, it's a mistake: collectively speaking, the minions do as much if not more damage than the lieutenants and/or bosses do, and they're a lot easier to kill. I try to remove sources of damage as quickly as possible, so I usually work low-to-high, barring any other more pressing concern.
I am somewhat new to the game, having played for less than a year (around 9-10 months IIRC). But in my (admittedly less experienced) opinion, if a target misses you, it doesn't matter how much damage that attack might have done. Thus, the likelyhood of an attacker connecting with an attack is one of the reasons why I often start at the top. Another reason for me is that I can use interruptible powers like Zapp (w/ Aim + Build Up) on the first target, but not reliably afterwards in a combat.
Quote:In this specific case, the Mortificators are, in my opinion, the most dangerous because of their ability to rez foes you've already defeated, not because they're lieutenants--that just adds to their annoyance factor. However, if we were talking about Cimerorans, I'd take out the healers (minions), then all other minions well before working on the Centurions. Similarly, with Malta, Sappers must die first, period, before any lieutenant-level Operations Ops. Otherwise, you're in for a nightmare of draining and mezzing. -
Quote:Of my two primary Blasters, neither have both aim and build up. But both can fly, which allows me to usually evade the Green Ink Man -- so he's usually last. Blasters can still use Primary powers even when held, so I'd probably take out Yellow first, then Sorcerer, then Green. But in a mixed group where the Sorcerer cons a higher threat level than the other two, I'll focus on him first.Quiz question #1:
In the following group, who would you attack first?
a) Tsoo Sorcerer (healer, hurricane, foe hold)
b) Tsoo Green Ink Man (melee stun)
c) Tsoo Yellow Ink Man (ranged sleep)
I asked a number of SG mates this question, and I was fairly surprised at their answers. Assume you're a level 23 blaster, and the minions are orange con, which means you can probably take out one of the minions outright with 1 aim + build up blast but would take 2 shots to take out the Sorcerer. Who would you attack first and why?
Quote:Quiz question #2:
In the following group, who would you attack first and why?
a) Vahzilok Mortificator (ranged -slow, revive fallen cadavers, hard hitting melee attack)
b) Vahzilok Embalmed Cadaver (explodes, dumb AI)
c) Vahzilok Murk Eidolon (downgraded from a boss to a Lt, Midnight Grasp, Opressive Gloom)
Assume you're a level 11 blaster, and have build up but not aim. The Lts con yellow while the Embalmed cons white. -
I picked mine up from Big Lots for $10 a little less than a year ago. There were two other copied when I bought mine, but they were gone a week later.
Being only $10, and the Collector's Edition (Cape, Clix Figure) is what got me into my first and so far only MMO.
Its possible to still find it in closeout stores & markdown bins, but it's hit-and-miss, heavy on the miss. It's still on Amazon, and a couple of stores on Ebay, but it'll likely cost for a new copy.
I've heard tell that some look down on the Power Slide, calling it a "noob scooter" or somesuch. Though the only comment I have gotten has been very positive about it. Has anybody who has the PS gotten looked down on for using it? -
Quote:That's where I found mine -- for $10! But I was a little disappointed to learn that the "in game item" -- the Cot4W, you can't get until you hit lvl 20. Which means that to get it, not only do you have to wait until you get to 20, but then you *have* to go to a tailor and pay (in-game) for it."Big Lots!" is you best bet for finding a copy of the DVD Collector's Edition.
Or did I miss a shortcut somewhere?
