Nope, sorry Dechs, I agree with Je-saist in spirit. We might have different ideas on where to draw the line, since I've not fully decided yet, but offering some of the content of Incarnates (even if only to previous GR buyers) is a good idea.
No amount of marketting blurb or word of mouth can replace experiencing something. The incarnate system is another level of gameplay. You should be able to experience some of it, and want more of it.
That is a sustainable business idea.
Putting the best toys in a VIP lounge so that the Premiums can see and never, ever play with them?
That just leads to them finding ways to be perfectly content with what they have.
Because if you never had something, you can't miss it. -
Quote:THEY DO?! Well darn, that would have made it easier.
you have no way of knowing that killing groups of igneous will add to the timer
Quote:so most folks rush to the original exit, which burns up a good chunk of the timer
Quote:then if they don't happen to turn in the correct direction when they get the message about the exit not working they can easily miss the cave door, since they are not expecting it on this map
See, the instinctual thing is to turn 180 degrees because you're facing a flat wall. You don't turn to the left or right, you turn around. So it's very easy to miss the 'apparently' glowing green door I've not seen.
EDIT - Beyond it being a nice set of maps with interesting locations (and lots of lovely chunky, hot, tomato soup), and a chance to see <a character>; I don't feel it warrants the "OMG This is VIP ONLY!" response the Devs have put it as. The writing was not gripping (beyond the countdowns you never felt there was any immediate need to act), the countdowns were either too short or felt seriously stuck in (seriously, what was with the second one? beyond the "new wave X seconds" thing), and it introduced a plot element with Theoden I didn't really feel lined up entirely with other Lost characters (can't put my finger on it though). -
Though to be fair, really late at night shouldn't expect immediate responses either.

I'm sorry Bubbawheat, because I clearly can't see the apology on that page you linked to. See the "AND" in that sentence was pretty important to the discussion.
Quote:If customers are confused to the point of frustration with the wording of a company's documentation, it is in the company's best interest to clarify before this starts losing them customers.Better reading is also necessary. The only reason the devs need to word it better is because the players make knee-jerk reactions and become indignant when further research gives them information which did not please them.
I for one am not suggesting to any returning customers that Premium is as good a deal as was originally advertised. I will warn people that they will not get what the marketting blurb leads them to believe. Because of this confusion on Boxset contents (AE/GR). -
Actually, as the Dev's stated themselves that a returning customer would get everything they originally bought; then yes, the Incarnate system - if the person had unlocked the content - should remain so when they become Premium.
Now, "letting you return free" is an incredibly persuasive argument to pacify people. But it doesn't change the fact that the Dev's definition of "Everything" is pandering to the marketing departments decisions on what is the biggest draws to making someone a VIP.
If they intend to keep Incarnate content locked into VIP and premiums lose it all, then they should re-classify it as "VIP-ONLY" and make it very clear (and apologise) for the confusion to those customers that believed that they unlocked it.
Or... y'know, unlock it for all existing GR customers and stop any new Premiums getting it. -
Narwhal, Narwhal, swimming in the ocean. Making a commotion, because they are so awesome...

Oh it wasn't just me!
And Mar was about to launch into his spiel about how his injury is a symbol of pride and he shouldn't get his tusk fixed/replaced too. PAH! -
Same here Biowraith. Not sure which was more annoying.

I have to agree with Nitro.
I have one hero who will -try- to get back into Galaxy but find it out of his depth, and he can get through solid stone pretty easily.
Generally, I think any hero attempting to get in without permission would likely be arrested for their own safety. If not on suspicion of looting.
Villains would probably be more likely to get in there. Perhaps gang members if they can get past/under/over the blockades. -
Exalted won't have Forse's plate of bourbon biscuits.
So Neener Neener.
Union will be keeping those. Biscuit Z? -
...Uhm... by... making... Rep... purcha...

*gets sucked towards a big black hole*
NOoooooooooooooo...
HELP...
ARRRGGHHH...
*gets sucked into the hole. It closes up around him to reveal the sign "TVTropes"* -
What, about all the litter? Yeah... someone should do something about that. Maybe give Squish a sack and a little grabby thing?
I have one plot that can operate outside of Freedom's start date because it's Forseverse stuff. It's just the bigger-work of the two and I'm a bit meh.
The second one (of which only two things have happened towards) really should need Freedom and even more lovely would be Street Justice, before it concludes entirely. And I know how fast everyone burns through plot content! -
Maybe that's why it wasn't used, she kept getting her heels stuck in all the cracked rock pathways down there, and the echoing "Tap, tap, tap, tap" of walking around was driving the ghosts nuts.

Samuel, what you're discussing is covered in media theory under "The Other", and is about embracing those elements that go beyond your world-viewpoint, or exploring issues and physical facts that aren't yours (or aren't the mainstream).
It links back to several other topics about how society works, hegemony and power structures.
It's something inherent in the human psyche, and I could go on at length about it's affect on media and our understanding of what is "okay", what is "desirable" and so forth.
It can also be used to help explain why people choose certain options in character creation because of cultural background and pressures. Something that is subconciously influencing what a player likes, and what they find enjoyable.
I don't know if you are familiar with this avenue of media/cultural theory, or if you've stumbled upon it. But if you are interested I do think you should take a look around for some information on "The Other" (as vague as that name sounds). I'd start quoting authors/theorists, but I've not got any of my reference work handy. -
You know... those concept art pieces would fit something more along the lines of a group of Hamidon cultists in Praetoria, believing they can restart the world themselves (and dabbling in magic to do it... essentially selling their souls to... OH... WAIT...)
So yeah, these concept art pieces rock. Wish they were used in a more literal sense in new costume pieces.
ETA - I have two characters that can use that backpack. And look forward to more!
ETA2 - You know what I like more? That we can tell the two character's genders, without the need for gendered pieces of costume. That is to say, yes - it's figure-hugging, but it doesn't flash skin - and there's no need to either.
ETA3 - Does she really need a stiletto heel though? -
Not a clue either what went on, but I do have this suggestion.
There should be no assumptions when facing a new character. That walking nuclear bomb could well be an expert swordsman too. You shouldn't assume anything based on the powersets and costume.
What should happen (and something people skip because of whatever reason) is -ask questions-. If you see a walking nuclear bomb, ask who he is and what he does. Be friendly, learn about the character and then base whatever happens next off of that.
Archie versus Punisher shouldn't happen because Punisher wouldn't -want- it to. Or vice versa. If you're faced with a character/plot that -you- don't like, you find a reason not to participate. If your character is faced with a character/plot that -they- wouldn't like, you've got to either explain their reason for not interacting, or develop/change the character's opinion.
If the argument boils down to "I want to play a silly character whilst everyone's being serious", then sorry, but it's not going to work, unless that silly character has a depth to them that allows them to be the Flash to the rest's Justice League.
(Okay, so analogies aren't working so well today. I think they've been nerfed).
Anyway, getting longwinded. -
I've not read the whole thread...
But...
Shouldn't the minotaur have some cool barbarian wings?... 'cause... y'know.
((Note - I have no idea what 'barbarian' wings would look like. Some sort of tattered battle standard tied to them maybe, but that'd ruin the joke and make this a serious suggestion.)) -
I'm sorry, I didn't realise posting a link called "Here" that clearly displays a youtube link when you hover over it was anything but a deliberate and very obvious rickroll.
Whatever shall I do now I've ruined the unfunny troll joke? Maybe I'll PANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKE myself with a PANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKE PANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKE and PANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKEPANCAKE until I don't know up from down. -
Obvious rickroll is obvious.

"Funny" auto-censors are something for community and social boards.
One of my major bugbears is stuff like this on a company's official messageboards. A subtler brand of humour (such as say using the auto-censor to replace all curse words with a comic-based curse or the classic comic-curse symbols) if you must, but not something as totally random and inane as this.
It's out of setting, it's not professional-looking enough and it smacks of "let's play with the new toy, they'll get a kick out of this for five minutes".
Sorry, but a vote down here for any 'Funny' auto-censors.

Of course, if this is nothing but a troll post, enjoy! Ha ha, Pancake. -

There are two possible outcomes as I see it:
1. Paid subscribers get a bulk of content free, and then can use points to pick up extras. Problem with this assumption is that if a Powerset (Titan Weapons) is in the Store, what won't be? Is nothing outside the realms of being waved at us with "Oh, but you'll need extra for this, hope you can decide what to pick!" Expect marketing heavy drives and 'sales' down this path.
2. EVERYTHING will be in the store, and the Paid subscribers can pick what they want off the menu, up to their allowance, plus whatever extra they want to spend. Problem with this assumption is that there's no way they'd do this and give the Paid subscribers enough allowance to get all the desirable stuff. Expect them to "coerce" as much money out as possible down this path.

The observant will notice that there's not a lot of difference between those two.
