Quote:Actually I think it's more likely that instead of increasing the number of slots per server they might give us a couple of free slots to add to a server of our choice. Of course those of us with 36 filled already would have to choose an alternate server.Yeah but seeing as me and alot of other people don't have the money/don't want to waste there money on that money pit, I'd rather have 12 free slots with Going Rogue.
Either way I'll be happy with whatever we get given.

Are we supposed to be impressed by that?
What you think that people who haven't played as long as you aren't just as attached to their characters?Quote:As such, having a character for five years makes one attached to them
If you choose to limit yourself to playing on one server that's your problem not the devs. Your account has 132 slots It's not the devs fault you choose not to use them all. As to losing a name you can easily check each server to see if a name is available before doing a transfer.Quote:and often means they have a name more difficult to obtain. Changing servers and losing the name, not to mention not having that character available in a preferred server community, is not an option. Nor is deletion.
Of my 165 characters, 45 of them are on my main server. Like many loyal players I have multiple accounts. I know people here on the foums with 4 to 5 accounts. Nothings stopping you from doing the same.Quote:Do I have 36 characters? No, just a humble 33. But the game offers much of its replay through the new team roles/gameplay experiences that different powersets/archetypes bring. If the new expansion offers a significant new chunk of gameplay, 3 slots won't cut it. (For me at least.) -
Quote:Is not merging the markets been thought all the way through? How much hassle do the players have to suffer for a design paradigm?
The last "official" statement on market mergers was back during the 5th anniversary when Positron was answering questions ingame. He said a merger may happen at some point in the distant future when and if the amount of inf redside is comparable to what blueside has.
In the example he made he said if a villain can't afford something for 50 million he'll never be able to afford it for 200 million. -
Quote:I don't see them adding additional slots when we can buy up to 36. If a person has used all 36 on a server, then that person should think about using the other options available to free up some slots.Since we're getting an expansion, do you think (or know) if the devs are intending to unlock any (say 2) additional character slots per server? We started with 8 unlocked, then expanded to 12 unlocked with then the option to have up to 36 but it would be nice for the purchase if they threw in a few so we can play new characters.

Marine Boy Intro
He was sooo cool! He breathed underwater via "oxygum", had underwater vehicles, propulsion boots, thowing explody thingys, a tame dolphin and a cute mermaid friend. What wasn't there to idolize?

It's all about suspension of disbelief.
Let's see . . . It's 2009 . . . Marine Boy first aired . . . That makes you . . . Not a day over 18.

Quote:That was supposed to look like he was underwater? I thought he simply posted in the wrong thread. This looks like you're trapped in a valley under a forcefield. Also, it looks like you tripped and you're about to faceplant. I know it was supposed to look like you're underwater, bit with that lush green grass underfoot and the complete lack of atmosphere, it just looks like someone cut off a valley.

According to Niv's announcement some people are saying things in rep comments that are a clear violation of the forum rules and guidelines. Things that they would never post in a regular post like here because they think the comments are anonymous to the mods.

Quote:They will have to replace me with a gibbering idiot to get the okay to move forward with animation and VFX needed to support 'underwater' zones.
And then it will take years and ultimately look stupid.
You heard it here first! Bill Roper will be hired to design an underwater zone for CoX! -

Quote:You seem to have missed the point Frost. Solo said Niv forgot to open a disussion. She didn't forget anything. She wasn't inviting people to a discussion on the topic. She was issuing us a warning. And yet here you are discussing something that requires no discussion. hmm.
*I would have just left this as a rep message, but you have your off
edit: what this issue comes down to is the bear necessities of life. As in the carebear necessities.
If you, I, Zombie, or anyone else wish to discuss this on our own that's our perogative. But Niv isn't obligated to open a discussion thread when posting the consequenses for violating forum rules concerning the rep system. -
Quote:Not trying to be a jerk Lemur but isn't that the same thing as saying that since there is a profanity filter in the game whose default setting is on, players should be allowed to say whatever they want, and people shouldn't get offended because they have to make a choice to turn off the filter to see what profanity is being said.Right there with nothing below them forcing you to scroll down that far if you don't want to.
Subscribe to a few forum sections and those will be perma listed, forcing the nasty horrible comments that you can't look away from with a prybar out of view.
Or, you know, just not look.
You know, just not look. -
Quote:Strange as it may seem you CAN make negative comments without them being sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive; obscene or contain vulgar language.how can something be meaningless if there is punishment associated with it?
Anyone that can't follow those simple rules deserves punishment.
No she didn't. She simply announced the forum rules apply to rep comments and will be enforced. No discussion is necessary. The aren't asking for our opinion. Obey the rules or suffer the wrath of the Mod Stick.Quote:niv forgot to post a discussion thread about the announcement. -
How do you control wind underwater? Storm Summoning is an air control power. Same problem in outer space. You can't summon hurricanes, tornados, etc in a vaccuum.
The actual water power set had its named changed by the devs to Energy Blast when the game was still in development.
Ink grenades. That would be a completely new power. Smoke is a gas while ink is a liquid.
As for breathimg underwater that was already resolved. Just add a line of text to everyones list of automatic powers that says breath underwater. Since we can already breath underwater nothing more needs to be changed. -
Sorry to disagree but they had the restriction on how many enhancements we could pull from a respec years before they sold respecs. The devs felt that the Inf we could get from pulling ten enhancements was too much when it was limited to DO's, SO,s and HO's. That certainly didn't change when IO's put the amount you can get back into the tens and hundreds of millions.
-
I have to admit the more and more I read Sam's point of view, the more I agree with everything he's saying about the problems with how the powers would work underwater.
Take Hurricane and Tornado for example. If they did work underwater wouldn't they pull things towards them instead of pushing them away because if used underwater they'd be creating whirlpools?
How do you throw a grenade? Caltrops?
Wouldn't someone entrapped in a block of ice float to the surface?
Wouldn't fire imps get suffocated (put out) underwater?
The list goes on and on. -

Quote:Yes, the Mac Special Edition acts like a booster pack. You can buy it as an upgrade, even if you play on the PC. There is also an actually Mac Booster Pack, which just includes the items and bonus power. The difference is that the special edition also includes 30 days of game time. Since the booster is about $10, and a month of game time is normally about $15, the Special Edition is a slight savings if you choose to get it. ($20 for Booster + time, rather that $25 for getting the booster and paying for a single month separately.)
In any case, once you've purchased the version you want, make *certain* that you apply it as an upgrade to your existing account, rather than creating a new account.
Maybe it's just because it's too early in the morning but your math looks off to me. Forgive me if I'm wrong.
$9.99 The Mac Special In-Game Item Pack

$19.99 The Mac Special Edition
-$15.00 Free Month
-----------------------
$4.99 cost after deducting the month the OP won't have to pay for.
As many of us will point out while it seems the full editions are more expensive the free month you get actually makes them cheaper than the item packs. -

Quote:Actually he did because your post here is on my page 1. It's not our fault that you have your forum preferences set where you don't get as many posts per page as the rest of us.actually no no u didnt on page 1. u just commented about something not explain what ur exactly commenting on

Those are the actions players take when they encounter people with the OP's insulting attitude. I've even been on a couple pugs and seen someone get kicked when he/she showed up and someone told the leader that they had that player 1 starred for some reason.
