Most of my characters don't use their second builds so I'm setting up the second builds so they are ready for when Fitness goes inherent then if necessary I'll use the respecs to tear out the enhancements from the main builds and reslot them in the second builds.
For the builds that don't use Fitness I'll just keep on as they are. -
Quote:If you bothered to read the thread you'd have seen that someone provided a link to a Redname post that conforms we will be getting 2 respecs when I19 is released.not bothered myself have a load of vet one,s Ive not used yet but I,m sure they will give at least one away

Quote:Greetings,
Given the magnitude of changes in Issue 19 with the fitness pool becoming inherent at level 2, we’ll be issuing one respec with the launch of issue 19 and a second respec exactly one week after launch. This means if you have dual builds you can respec both builds if you like, and if not you can use the first respec (if you like) to take advantage of the changes with I19 and bank the second respec for a later time.
Enjoy!
Gotta love drive by posting.

Quote:Personally the only way I could see it being done would be if the animal skeleton was directly linked to the power set like the Kheldian forms are. So you wouldn't see a cat or a dog running around with dual pistols or a katana.Of course.
There's going to be a small portion of the player base that wants this, there's going to be a small portion of the player base that wants that.
For this request, outside of a animal shapeshifting set, I suspect the request to play supercat or batdog is very very small. I don't think many want to play City of Pound Puppies.
And how's it going to work? It's already been shown they don't want to do outright silly things. And assuming I want to play a superhero fox, how would it look with my fox running around with dual pistols in her paws? Would there be a clank every time she took a step?
I have no doubt, Amerikat takes her character seriously. I'm sure there are a few others who would to. I just think the amount of players who would use such a build, would be so small, as to not be worth the time and effort that could go into other projects that MORE people would use and want.
And like I said before. I'm not "/unsign"ing it. Just saying I don't see it happening compared to a lot of the other suggestions. -
Thanks for the confirmation and explanation guys. That's a nice incentive to encourage players to not only create goldside alts but to actively recruit new players to their SG's.
Though I can imagine a certain jerk on Virtue who has questionable recruiting techniques (he invites lowbies to teams in PI then kicks them if they won't join his SG) will be looking for goldies to recruit them for the 100k and then immediately kicking them if he finds out another SG recruited them first and he doesn't get the 100k.
Edit: I just remembered I still have all my freespecs from GR/I18. I'm gonna pull 10 enhancements off my characters that have Fitness now and if I need to I can pull another 20 off each character when I19 hits with it's 2 freespecs. -
Quote:I'm not trying to claim that a significant portion of the playerbase wants this. I'm just acknowledging that I have seen requests for animal skeletons many times over the last six years.I wouldn't say a lot of people.
I'm sure there's people who want a more werewolf style look, and likely a beastial run/walk, but actual animal body type outside of powersets (ie shapeshifting)...I find doubtful.
Saying that, I have no doubt it wouldnt be a popular body type for the first bit of the game with people making "Batdog" and "Krypto" style joke characters.
But after that, I don't think you'd see many use it.
Now...a powerset that lets you take different animal forms, with their own list of abilities (like Kheldian shapes), I could see people wanting and using. -
Quote:That's why SL's of small SG's use their own alts to keep SG membership over the minimum 15 required so they don't get hit with a prestige loss when someone quits. Its easy for smalls bases starting up to go into negatiive prestige. They get the bonus for sign up, buy some salvage racks, and then some people leave as a start up base isnt thier thing, taking thier prestige bonus with them.
For some bonus Prestige, don't forget that characters from goldside are worth 100k prestige for sign up. That would help a lot.
The only stingy thing I find about prestige is the lack of it for the zombie/rikti invasions. You're defending earth and you dont even get 1 prestige for most of the kills.
I must admity tho that this is the first I heard that goldsiders are worth 100k prestige. -
Even if it was, it isn't a 'bad' idea. Lots of people would like an animal/non humanoid skeleton for characters. So rather than belittling the OP we're giving explanations on the difficulty of the project and offering alternatives.

Quote:"market contipation" (a condition where all of your slots are clogged with product that just doesn't move, leaving you with a backup of excess drops).
I always get a laugh when I see people whining about that. Out of their own greed they overpriced their merchandise and can't afford to pull the items off the market. -
-
As Aett explained to the OP at least once before . . .
Quote:Okay, going to go through this again.
This would require that a new skeleton would be made, specifically for your size cat that you want. One that has four legs, and would somehow be able to hold things like swords and axes somewhere in those legs.
Now, let's say that each AT has 5 powersets (since ATs duplicate powersets, specifically over primaries/secondaries, but this is still a pretty lowball number). That is 25 powersets per side, or 50 powersets. Include the EATs, and it's 58 powersets.
Now, let's say that there are 8 powers per set that would need animating for the new skeleton. This is to include things like Build Up, which wouldn't need much to go from one set to another, but probably does not include the EATs' extended sets. So, that is 464 powers.
Now, we also need to include power pools. 4 powers per pool, for 10 pools, or 40 more powers, for a total of 504 powers. Now, assuming that you don't care if the cat skeleton is made boy or girl, then we still need 2 animations done per power (one for on the ground, one for in the air). So, we're up to 1,008 animations that need to be re-done, PER skeleton that is put in the game.
Let's compare that to a typical new set. 9 powers, 3 skeletons, 2 animations per. 54 animations per powerset.
At that rate, you could create 18.7 new powersets in the same time that you create one new skeleton.
That doesn't seem worth it to me.
And I'll again vote for a Beastial stance so our current characters have the option of looking more animal-like -
Quote:You and your friends have my deepest sympathies for what happened, and if I can offer some advise. Try not constantly looking at how much prestige you need. Try to put the goal out of your mind and just have fun playing the game. Before you know it you'll have a nice pile of prestige to spend.Just throwing my two inf in.
My supergroup recently found itself having to rebuild from scratch due to *cough*hijiacking*cough* issues. So we're starting all over, from zero prestige. And yes, it's painful. Very painful. We had all the teleporters, storage bins, crafting tables, everything. Now we have just the starting room. I cry every time I think about it.
However, last night I took my level 50 tank into Oroborous and ran him through some flashback missions set to +0/x4. In just a couple of hours (under 4, I think), I earned over 4 million influence, and 30,000 prestige. That doesn't include what I earned selling the drops on the market.
I'll be doing the same today, in order to convert influence to prestige again. A few days of doing this, and we'll have a sufficient stockpile of prestige to expand our base into something useful.
It is sad that it takes this much work, but that's life in the big city. So if you're looking for ways to get your prestige faster, I second the notion that you should use 50s to do it. I also second the notion that flashback missions can help you. (Especially if you're a badger or a completionist, like me.) Also, I'd suggest setting your difficulty as high as you can tolerate it to increase the number of foes fought, to increase the prestige you're earning per minute.
Just my 2 inf, and probably not worth much.
Staring at the numbers makes it feel like it's taking 10 times longer to earn what you need.
Good luck with your rebuilding. -
Quote:When I made my werewolf I went with white because he is supposed to be a member of the Silver Fang tribe. I created a Brute because his rage fuels his battle prowess but I was disappointed with the choices of powersets. My character is a CoH version of an old character I made for a PnP campaign. I remade him a couple times as new powersets were added to Brutes. Currently he is a DB/DA.Congratulations

You know... I think I found out what part of the problem is, and as expected, it's that I lacked imagination when I made this guy. Originally, I just tried to approximate a werewolf as close as possible, and those tend to be either very dark brown or, most often, just black. In fact, a Google image search for "werewolf" reveals mostly black and brown werewolfs, at least in the colour pics. Me making mine basically black (and even blacker, as a test) is a large part of why it feels so... Generic.
Just as an experiment, I tried making the guy all white - white fur and white skin. And to my surprise, that actually looked pretty dang cool. He still looks generic, though, because he's just a white werewolf, but he is, nevertheless, the kind of character I'd sit up and take notice of, going "Wait, what was that? I want to see this from up close."
Of course, this comes with its own problems, as white skin isn't actually white, it's orange and a pure white wolf just falls into one more monochrome design, of which I've made MANY recently. I tried adding more chains and medieval pieces to the guy, but I don't think it's working.
So, instead, I think I'll go in another direction for the time being, at least as a test, that being a ripoff of an entirely different character - Final Fantasy VII's Nanaki, known to players as Red XIII, or whatever they chose to name him (my neighbour named him after me when he played). That is to say, instead of a black werewolf, I'll instead look at something in a flamboyant colour - gold or a fiery orange, or possibly even jade green. Just something that stands out.
That's for the body, however. A naked werewolf is still boring even if it's traffic cone orange, so I'm not sure what else to add to change that. I keep thinking about adding technology of some sort, specifically so I can use the absurd Tech Sword. Not sure how to go about this, though, or even if I SHOULD go about it.
For his costume I kept it simple Fanged Skulls comprise his shoulder armor and he's wrapped his chest and waist with razor wire so the pain from it helps fuel his rage. The new Origin Booster has allowed me to give him the Bio-Plasma aura which represents the physical manifestation of his Umbral spirit energy. The Organic Swords from the Mutant Booster are the closest I can come to a Klaive.
I'm hoping someday they'll give Brutes Broadsword so I can remake him the way I always wanted. -
I'm reminded of a World of Darkness type of werewolf. I see a proud Ahroun warrior of the Get of Fenris whose breed is Crinos. His sword would be the closest thing Sam could get to a Klaive.
Definitely needs the animated wolf tail.
As to why he's here, well Garou hate the forces of the Wyrm with a passion and I could easily see a werewolf doimg everything in his power to destroy the Council/5th column because of the way they create Vampires and Warwolves. Those abominations being the epitomy of evil to the true wererwolf species. -
Quote:Has CoX ever considered giving players secret identities? this is what i'm proposing:
- create a new costume slot which only has access to civilian costume pieces.
- lock that toon out from primary and secondary powersets, leaving only inherent such as sprint, rest, brawl...
- players in their secret identities would get tips in the day job locations
CoX has already implemented their version of Secret Identities. They are called Day Jobs. It's what your characters are doing when you aren't logged into the game.
While I'm not opposed to more costume slots, we already have the ability to make 5 different costume for various purposes.
For Example:
1. Hero Costume
2. SG Costume
3. Day Job Costume
4. Night Out Costume
5. Holiday Event Costume
Furthermore if you want to blend in with the civilian NPC's that's what Walk is for. -
Quote:Just to be clear it says more than that.Actually, Forbin, the guidelines specifically state the mention of any other video game. It's spelled out like that.
So, if we wanted to talk about chess, or Candyland, or Champions the pen and paper game, it's all kosher. As long as you don't try to say "Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 has better mechanics or graphics than CoX," that is.
Quote:8. Compare/Contrast and Off-topic threads.
All of these forums fall under the general topic of City of Heroes. However, we do allow a wider variety of discussion topics in the Comic and Hero/Villain Culture forum and on the server forums. We encourage non disruptive off topic discussion in those forums along the line that fits with the community of posters who frequent them. Political, religious, the aesthetics of the human form (particularly that of models, actors or actresses), real world topics or any videogame (aside from City of Heroes) topics are not allowed. Also, please do not compare or contrast City of Heroes to any other game or product, as that is a violation of this rule and is not allowed.
The green is the part you're referring to and the bolded yellow is what refers to every other game. Furthermore the person who actually wrote the new forum rules is Moderator 08 a.k.a The Ocho. So when he says Discussing another game is not allowed, whether you use the name or not, he is the final authority on how the rules are interpreted. -
Quote:Just wondering...
I don't see any discussion her of pen and paper supers roleplaying -- which struck as odd given the nature of the board and the fact that there's kind of lot going on in that sphere these days...
Is discussion of that stuff verboten around here? Or just not particularly popular?
As long as you keep out any mention of game names you should be safe. The Mods have passed new rules and using names of other games can get posts moderated.
This was just posted in a recent thread discussing Free to Play games.
Quote:Hey folks,
We here at Paragon Studios value and respect your desires to discuss this subject since it’s on the minds of many players. I want to remind you, however, that this discussion needs to occur within the context of the Message Forum Rules and Guidelines and that means no discussion of other games – as difficult as that might be.
A number of posters have tried to obey this rule by not mentioning the name of another game, but instead describing it in another way. Unfortunately, that still isn’t good enough. Discussing another game is not allowed, whether you use the name or not. Let me give some examples of what’s acceptable and what’s not:
“I like the way World of Hello Kitty Quest handles the Free to Play model, since I can spend a minimal amount and still get access to 99% of the games features.” – This mentions another game explicitly and is not allowed.
“I like the way the game with the cute Japanese anthropomorphic animals hunting down epic items with lots of raiding has implemented Free to Play gaming, since I can enjoy the game (albeit only as a frog or cat, and not many of the other even cuter options) but since I’m only a casual player I don’t have to worry about a monthly subscription fee” – Still not allowed. Even though this example doesn’t explicitly reference another game it still is discussing another game. It’s the discussion which is the problem.
“I dislike tiered payment models since it always seems there isn’t enough content geared towards the non subscribers, and that fails to accomplish the goal of attracting new players to a game I love” – Totally allowed. In this example our hypothetical poster is talking about what they like or dislike about a specific idea, not how it is or is not implemented in another game. Ideas are perfectly allowable by the Message Forum Rules and Guidelines and we ask that you frame this discussion in that regard.
Please use these examples as a guideline so that we don’t have to moderate your posts on the subject!
Thanks much!
Even down in this section the Mods recently (a few months ago) purged a ton of threads that broke their new rules. -
And Croatia celebrates Thanksgiving on August 5th. Which takes us back to my first point that the countries that do have a Thanksgiving holiday don't celebrate it at the same time of year.

Quote:Let's see . . . You asked a question. Aett answered it. You don't like the answer and get defensive and insulting.Well gosh, sorry I struck a nerve, bro. Just thought it'd be pretty fun to see. No need to be so anal about it.
What ever happened to these forums being fun? It was just an idea, not an actual suggestion for them to do it. Lighten up a bit, have a bit of imagination.
Halloween is a multinational holiday that is celebrated in many countries of the world, from Latin America, to North America, and across to Europe. It's also one of the oldest known holidays
Christmas is another multinational holiday celebrated on every continent as it spread across the globe.
The same is true about Valentine's Day and how widespread it is celebrated across the world.
Thanksgiving is an American holiday. Furthermore the countries that do have their own version of Thanksgiving:
1. Don't celebrate it in November and
2. Don't celebrate the first successful harvest on American soil.
It only common sense that if the game is going to have any holiday events it will be the ones that appeal to as many of their customers as possible and are celebrated at the same time everywhere. -
Quote:SG's were meant to be social groups. Yes I know many of us have solo SG's, but the price of being anti-social is that it takes a hell of a lot longer to earn prestige. If you want to earn prestige faster get out there and recruit people to your SG.Why is the game so extremely stingy with prestige? It's given out with an eyedropper after kills, and the inspiration-to-prestige exchange rate is nothing short of thievery. I realize that too much influence, injected into the game, ruins the virtual economy. But I don't see how more prestige would hurt. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks, all.

Quote:That behavior came later in the thread. My decision about his grasp of the language came while I was reading his initial post. Reading his other responses gave me other opinions but they didn't affect my choice not to act like a grammar nazi. While that may be true, it doesn't excuse him threatening to make Aett "eat his words".
It also doesn't excuse his getting bent out of shape and declaring that, since respecs don't do what he thinks they should, they are useless.
Sketchy English or not, there is an attitude in those posts that is completely uncalled for. -
Quote:Understandable. One of the other things I like about the pack is that all the items are available at level 1. Sometimes I find it annoying having to wait (even tho it isn't very long) to get to 20 for capes, 30 for auras, and 35 for costumes linked to rewards. I like to have my concepts complete when I leave the character creation.I'm still considering it. I don't particularly care for auras and the only cloak that I might use with my current characters is the Impervium Mantle (I'm not sure if I'd prefer it to their current capes or not). It is cool but I'm not sure if it's worth ti to me.

Kudos on your sisters skill at picking up a third language. She sounds like a very bright young lady.
