Your forgetting how quickly people can power level using AE farms and whatever the current exploit of the month is. And many long time vets have multiple accounts and can power level their own characters.

Quote:1. Good to hear you have a helpful CS rep.Well, got a really nice NCSoft rep as part of the issue escalatation. He went into greater detail as to what he would need. He also explained why the keys I provided didn't suffice. He did go into detail as to what specific keys he could use to validate ownership. He also indicated alternative means for ID verification.
So now I'm pursuing the banks we were with at the time we started our CoH/V accounts. Already called one and they confirmed they can give me the information I need if I stop in and show ID. I'll hit up the other bank on the way home too.
If that turns up a dud, then I'll go digging for certain game boxes (sure am glad I got collector's editions). I'm fairly certain I know where those are.
All in all, this rep is helping me rather than hindering. I like this rep.
As for that security issue... when did that happen? I don't recall hearing about it and I keep up on updates on that side of the house. That said, I did notice the account questions and such in my master account when I changed my password.
What strikes me as odd is that as of Oct 2010, I was able to log my wife's master account in. I had to. I was the one who renewed both of our accounts. Nothing was amiss at that time. Maybe I can get the rep that is assisting me to explain what they saw once I have the account back under our control.
2. I believe the security issue started in the fall of 2009. I learned about it in December when I tried to log in to play and found I couldn't. I had to jump thru hoops with CS and send proof I was the account owner. Anyway NCSoft really downplayed it and did their best to keep it all under everyones radar. Not that I blame them. I wouldn't want info on how to defeat their security spread all over the place.
3. As to why you were able to log on in October, I have no clue. I only mentioned the security problem from last year because you mentioned the other game and that's the first possible explanation that came to mind.
It's very possible the two things are completely unrelated. -
Quote:Sorry about that. Thought process got crossed in my head. I was already thinking about how some people sell their accounts when they quit and for some reason your post sounded like it implying something other than what was actually said.I didn't say that. I was just correcting the inaccurate blanket statement that EVERY character starts off with 11 merits.
My bad on that one. -
Quote:Why would they have to keep an account active for 6 years when there are disreputable ex-players who are willing to sell their accounts to them?I know that. That is a legitimate game mechanic. In fact, it's a well-known influence sink.
If the RMTs ultimate plan is to stay paid and subscribed to the game long enough to get free merits, and then consolidate said merits, and then play the game long enough to get enough inf. to convert said merits into a valuable recipe...then...who cares? -
-
-
Quote:I'm SHOCKED that you would suggest that regular players would consider abusing the system . . . <choke> <cough> <hack>Even if not RMT there are enough of us who do get the 11 merits per new character who could create a horrible mess by churning them out if we could trade them.
*wipes off monitor and keyboard*
Sorry I couldn't even type that with a straight face.

If you had more than one game on your MASTER account they got all the information that was available to all the games thru the Master Account website.
-
I'll PM you the links I have that discuss what was happening last year. I had to jump thru hoops proving I owned my account so I could set my security password so I could access my account when they changed their security measures for logging in.
-
You don't think there have been people selling their accounts after they decided to leave the game? Some of them could easily be accounts of long standing.
Heck if they were active long enough I could see an RMT site deciding to hang onto the account just so they could get those merits in 6 months to a year later. -
Dear OP I see that you mentioned that your wife had an account for another NCSoft game that has been affected as well. In all likelyhood that is where the problems started. NCSoft had a serious security problem over there which you can read about here.
The short version of it was this:
LOGGING INTO YOUR OWN PLAYNC MASTER ACCOUNT CAN RANDOMLY LOG YOU INTO ANOTHER PLAYER'S ACCOUNT. YOU HAVE FULL CONTROL OVER THEIR ACCOUNT FROM THIS POINT. YOU CAN CHANGE THEIR PASSWORDS, AND EVERYTHING ELSE THAT ONE CAN EDIT FROM THE PLAYNC MASTER ACCOUNT CONTROLS.
They've supposedly fixed the problem since then.
I'll PM you with more info about what was happening because new forum rules don't allow us to post about other games on these forums, even if they are NCSoft games. -
I suppose he's gonna try to take credit for all the other times the devs have given us multiple freespecs over the years. Rofl
What an ego trip.
-
Quote:Just use the merits on the character that earned them and email the purchase to whatever character you want.Considering that pretty much anything that can be bought and sold with both regular and alignment merits can still be earned/purchased with ease in-game as it is, I fail to see how trading merits would ruin the economy.
RMT sites are interested in anything they can get their hands on and they will try to exploit everything. Assuming they won't is foolish.Quote:But since there are about a half-dozen different ways to score a LotG, I don't think the RMT folks are interested. -
Quote:IO's that have been deleted need to be crafted to be replaced and crafting IO's is an influence sink.Having to repurchase IOs isn't even an "inf sink" but rather just an "inf redistribution". If anything, it's an inflation accelator.
It's seems commonly accepted that inflation in this game is basically the increase of the ratio (inf/stuff). By deleting IOs, you're lowering "stuff" and barely affecting "inf". So the ratio goes up, causing inflation. -
One of the devs said during I9 beta testing that the reason they weren't giving us any dedicated recipe storage was because they wanted to minimize our ability to hoard recipes.
The way the devs see it more recipes get put on the market by keeping us from having recipe storage.
I have no idea if datamining says they are right. -
Quote:Just because one dev is no longer with us doesn't mean the other devs have suddenly changed their minds on a topic. What one states is valid until another says otherwise. Not that I'm agreeing with it at all.... but to be fair he DOES say "as long as I am on this project". He is no longer on the project

Now, was he replaced with what he'd consider a gibbering idiot that would support the idea? Dunno. Doubtful but that screenie I don't think is valid to be posted anymore as he is no longer in the picture.

Quote:I won't say anything is easy, but there are a few things that could drastically improve things for base builders.I'm sure there are a handful of random things that could be done for bases fairly easily. But I still contend to handle ALL of the systemic problems bases have would pretty much require its own retail expansion or at least an entire Issue dedicated to it, neither of which I see happening anytime soon.

One example
There is a floor tile that can be used to create a raised floor. In a 2x2 room 4 tiles can cover the entire space. The problem with the tile is that only one side has a skin. Looking up at the tile from underneath the tile is invisible. This forces builders to use hundreds of desks to create an opaque floor.
Adding a skin to the bottom of the floor tile would eliminate the need for hundreds of desks to make floors, save hundreds in prestige, and drastically lower the number of items it takes to build a base, because there is a limit that if exceeded causes bases to crash. -
-
Or they can go the opposite way and remove the ability to pull any enhancements off of a build during a respec. If they aren't slotted they automatically get sold.
-
Quote:Yes the slots are a part of the GR complete edition. They are advertised as such. I split mine up between two different servers, and you don't have to redeem them right away. I didn't pick which servers to add them to until now to answer your question.Yea, and they also have to have it in stock. It is not a high volume game so you might not find it in most walmarts at any price.
I will ask a somewhat related question here to avoid a new topic.
If you purchase GR to start an additional count, do you still get the +2 extra server slots to allocate to whichever server you wish? Want to know if I will have 12 or 14 slots for my main server when I purchase.
So you can have 1 server with 14 slots or 2 servers with 13.
Oh and if you aren't aware of it, for every year your account remains active you get a free character slot as a vet reward. That's every 12 active months. Any time your account is inactive doesn't count. -

Quote:Lothic luv you know I can't let this slide. As we all know the Devs have a tendency to listen to the "vocal minority" if that minority harps on an issue long enough.

So the devs have a tendency to listen to the "vocal minority".
The why haven't they implemented things like
Powerset Respecs
Vehicles
The ability to pull more than 10 enhancements off of builds
Recipe Storage
Personal Apartments
Ignoring AE exploits instead of fixing them
Implemented open world PvP
Wheres the oft requested Underwater and Moon zones
Raised the level cap
Wheres the Base love
Animal Skeletons so we can play cats and dogs
Merge the Servers
Just to name a few of the topics the "vocal minorities" harp about.
Maybe my perceptions are skewed but I don't get the feeling they listen to the vocal minorities.
-
So have a lot of other people but the devs seem dead set against it.

Quote:I said it before and I will say it again to many insults on these forums even though most will deny it, some of you are being way to rude, the op could be simply confused but no, everyone is to busy looking for a weakness and attack it, its easy to do behind a keyboard, and espically when everyone is attacking at the same time.
Just being so hard on the op, we all make mistakes we all get confused the only ones trolling here are you.
It is funny how some of you appear quite intelligent but at the same time have no patience and jump to conclusions and go just as low as everyone else, true intelligence never jumps to conclusions and understands that patience and wisdom also needs to be used.
Without commenting one way or the other, one merely has to read your post history. It speaks for itself.
