I understand the desire but they seem to be focusing on events that can include characters of all levels and can occur in different areas of the game, rather than limiting them to zone/level specific events. This hasn't always been successful. I'm looking at the Deadly Apocalypse which seems to never get any participation.

Definitely NOT what I was suggesting.

Roger. I'll try to be more clear next time.
No Problem. It can be easy to misunderstand what people post sometimes. I may say something that I think sounds obvious and another person can read it from a different perspective. Happens to all of us from time to time.

And the devs have been adding things like that over the years when they can.

    Arson fires in Skyway

To me that sounds like you'd like open world missions that takes you across several zones.

I said it would be nice if there was something to see in corners and un-travelled areas; not that objectives must be there. Even when mission doors are in unusual places, that still doesn't give me any reason to appreciate the design and other things in the city.
If you had said that I wouldn't have thought you were suggesting open world missions that cross other zones.

Yes it looks like it is. And if you take the time to read it you'll learn everything they have planned for the event.

Now if on the off chance they intend to surprise us with something, they aren't going to announce beforehand because it would spoil the surprise. They'll tell us when they are ready.

I would like to see zones updated, but not necessarily redesigned like you did to Faultline. What about adding some details, or just changing a few things to keep it interesting.
The devs have stated that updating old zones requires the same amount of work as creating new zones. So they are doing the best they can within the limits of their schedules and budgets.

What about randomly inserting specially highly localized events like special enemies that wander in dark corners and provide some kind of special reward if they're found or dealt with.

Not everything should happen in instances.
They've been doing this with zone events, other than that no. If you want to play a game with open world missions then theres another game out there that tried that. People hated it so much that it was forced to go F2P after only 1 year. People are refusing to pay to play that type of game and they came here instead where we have instanced missions.

I would like a reason to sometimes take the long way or slow down and see the city now and then. The first time through the Hollows is an adventure. The 100th is a chore.
No. One of the biggest complaints people have is the stupid missions that have everyone scrambling off in all directions. People hate having to travel all over the place for no good reason and have been demanding that missions/TF's keep everything in the same zone they started in. The devs have heard our complaints and they are updating things to reflect those demands.

If you want to stroll thru the various zones then you are free to do it by yourself.
  6. The players will know what's going to happen during the Winter Event as soon as the devs make an announcement.

    In particular, AOL's proxy servers
(AFAIK) are not geographically arranged, so a user in California and

Heard of it but never had anything to do with it. I've always used my local cable company for an internet provider. Prior to subscribing to CoH the only computer I ever owned was a TRS-80 back in high school. I didn't buy my first PC until a year after I started playing CoH at my local gamestore. That was '06

Before we tell the Op how easy it is to earn money,we need to remember that we don't know his RL situation. I've personally seen parents that wouldn't let their kids get any kind of job till they were much older and I've also seen kids the same age as the OP whose parents set them up with Credit Cards.

Now in the town where I used to live we had a Hobby shop where the owner new that some of the kids had parents that either couldn't afford an allowance or wouldn't let their kids get part time jobs, and without their parents knowing he gave the kids things to do in the store for credit they could use to buy games or computer time. Stocking shelves, taking out the trash, sweeping. Even giving them credit for getting good grades on their report cards.

Here's how it could work... you set up your Vault account with a list of registered characters that would have access to the account. You then drop off enchancements, recipes, inventions, that would be accessable to others in your list.

This would be a little more elaborate than the in-game email attachments and it would give people a reason to use the Vault again.

Here's the only problem I have with this idea. Right now each character can have up to 50 odd slots in the Vault for salvage.

Now I have 80+ characters and most of those characters are between levels 5-35 so they each have 30 slots in their vault for storage. So I can store at least 2,400 pieces of salvage in my various character vaults.

If the devs turn the vault into a global storage we are going to lose all that storage. They won't let the amount of storage the vault can hold keep increasing with every new character.

I'm sorry but I'm not willing to sacrifice my current ability to store large numbers of salvage for the minor convienence of not having to email stuff to myself.

F2P is what I consider a 'flavor of the year', just like, IMHO, 3D TV is. It's a cool idea, may have merits in some respects, but in all reality, will cost the game its current playerbase due to such a severe change in how the game is played. Another superhero MMO game is trying this method, with highly mixed results. Business-wise, it is a huge risk.

My two sons that still play this game after 4 years and are now in college, were in the same situation you are in. They didn't have jobs, and needed to figure out how they were going to pay the $15/month (or other desired expenses). You can ask your parents for helping with the monthly fee costs, booster packs, etc, by asking for these things as birthday presents, Christmas presents (6 or 12 month subscription is a nice present), rewards for doing chores around the house, cleaning out the garage, mowing/snow shoveling the neighbors yard, etc.

There's options out there for you, and since you like this game, I'm sure it'd be worth the extra effort. As I tell my sons and students, 'there's ALWAYS a solution'.

    Good luck with it!
Some good advice there and I hope the OP is able to come up with a way to continue playing.

Yeah I guess it's possible that he's referring to that but I still think it's ignoring the 4 slots we are either getting for free with the Fitness pool on non fitness builds or the 4 slots that are freed up on builds that had Fitness previously chosen.

Kind of like telling us to ignore the 4 slots over here and just look at the last 3 slots we get at level 50.

The problem the OP is having is caused by the satellite internet provider, and if they won't or can't fix the problem the OP has a simple alternative solution of using PayPal.

Personally I applaud NCSofts attempts to protect them and myself from fraudulant credit card charges.

I merely stated that one must level to 10 to be able to send in game E-mails, and that the step was left out of the process.

And my comment regarding trivializing something, was people trivializing the leveling process, not someone's opinion because they disagreed with me (see above for how someone can disagree with an unexpressed opinion). And I'm not really sure why you're sassing me over this.
The impression I got from the post I quoted was that you felt that trading merits was the step that needed to be done since that was the topic of the thread. It never occured to me you thought people were trivialising the leveling process because I know from my own experience of being an altoholic how easy and quickly I can get a character to level 10 without using the AE. (when I get in the mood I can get 3 character to 10 in an hour soloing) And while I choose not to use the AE I know for a fact that some of my friends ingame who do use it have had brand new characters rocket past mine in levels using the AE.

So I'm sorry if I got the wrong impression from the post I quoted.

And it's funny watching you casually trivialize other peoples opinions by claiming that anyone who disagrees with you is doing the same thing. Pot meet Kettle.

First off sub based games only go F2P as a last ditch attempt to stop the game from going under.

Secondly F2P games end up being more expensive for players to play because they spend more money on microtransactions in the game than they did on their subscription fee.

How's this for wonky. We used to be able to store 2500 pieces of salvage in our salvage bins until Issue 13 when they reduced our invention storage capacity to 30.

So while I don't think you'll find anyone that wouldn't want more storage I regret saying it looks like a uphill battle from previous dev posts and storage reductions.
  22. You keep saying 3 slots. How do you arrive at that number? We got 4 powers when Fitness went inherent and each one came with a slot.

    Swift - 1 slot
    Hurdle - 1 slot
    Health - 1 slot
    Stamina - 1 slot

    1+1+1+1=4

    Or are you just saying

    Quote:
I was thinking about how we now have 4 new powers that we all get for free, and the meager 3 last slots seems a little... lacking.
because it makes it look like we're getting screwed.

The truth is that when Fitness went inherent, 4 additional slots were added to our builds. The slots just happen to be preassigned to the Fitness powers. That means that anyone that used to use Fitness now has 4 slots from their original builds that they can assign to other powers.

And what does this mean to the people that weren't using Fitness in their builds? Why they got 4 free powers and slots which makes those characters that much more powerful.

It's kind of funny to watch you twist being given 4 free powers and slots into something inadequate.

So a third party (whoever is providing you with satellite internet) is making it look like your IP address is different from where you actually live, and you choose to blame NCSoft for their actions . . . Never occured to you to go after the jerks at the satellite internet provider that are causing the problem.

"No biggie," I says to myself, "I'll just set down the difficulty and start again."

So I go talk to the Hero Corps jerk, fix my difficulty, and then run up to Ramiel. I get "Ask about this Contact" and "Ask about the store."

So, all I'd like is the option to abandon the mission. I don't care if that means I have to talk to Statesman again when I take it, I would rather the 5 minute runaround dealing with that than the logout process, especially since when I go to the "Switch character" option, it booted me to the log in, and I wasn't able to reconnect to the dbserver until I restarted.

Please note — I am talking about abandoning the mission, not autocompleting it, since I know there's going to be someone who will get the two confused and rag on me about the EB fight or something. I just want to be able to drop it so I can pick it up again.

Let us abandon the mission if we want.
