It would also be great if they just gave us everything that was scheduled to be released over the next three months.

Quote:Which is owned by NCSoft making it an NCSoft game.It may be there policy to give NCSoft credits but I didn't pay for an NCSoft game, I paid for CoH.
Notice how the NCSoft logo is clearly marked on the bottom left corner?
Quote:I'll happily take them to small claims court if they want to try to pull that on me. -

Quote:I'm still doing my research on GW2, but I'll toss this in:
GW2, and any other game coming out now, gets no points for having things that it took CoH years to get. I would be shocked if it didn't. Wasn't that one of the things that people complained about (and still do) with Champions Online - that Cryptic had apparently forgotten all of the lessons that they'd learned from making their first game?
The state of the art moves on and a new baseline is established. The presence of certain features is not a "plus", it is expected. You'll have to do more than that to impress me.
If it's an expected standard why are games still being published without them? See SWTOR for the most recent example of everything not to do.
It seems somewhere in the lines of communication between MMO players and devs someone is suffering a severe cranial rectal inversion. -
I have to ask, what forced teaming? So far I've been soloing everything I've chosen to do. I admit I'm not a power gamer so I'm only in my 30's, so is this something that happens at the endgame?

Quote:Reallocating budget may indeed be a factor, but don't make the mistake some have by assuming they shut us down because GW2 needs our servers.Edit: actually the later may be more reason to find the need to relocate budget to that project, taking it away from what they consider a title they would have to let go off anyways.
They aren't going to wait and sacrifice 3 months of sales while waiting to get our servers. -
Quote:I never claimed to represent the PvP community. I'm merely stating facts that were posted by other players on our forums as to why they hate and avoid PvP in this game. This guy is a massive tool. I don't think he represents the rest of the PvP community at all, especially not prei13.
As is always the case in any game the obnoxious, foul mouthed, jacktards gave the good natured PvP players a bad rep. -
Quote:Hate to break the news to you snowflake, but I've had my character names for up to 8 1/2 years on over 100+ of my characters. Only half a dozen will have their names for 3 months.Don't worry! Under the current system, you get to keep your special snowflake names and everything else for the rest of the game's life!
All three months of it!
Oh and Snowflake don't think we haven't noticed how you avoided all the other points I brought up that you couldn't resolve.
You ignored responding to the breaking up of SG's.
You ignored the breaking up of server communities.
You ignored the fact that there's no way to save existing bases.
You ignored the fact that the servers only have a limited number of slots and merging will frequently exceed that number.
You ignored the fact that many players would lose the extra slots they purchased because of the limit on the number of slots allowed per server.
You've ignored the fact reducing the number of servers means that many players will have more characters on their accounts than there would be available on fewer servers.
No the only issue is naming conflicts. -

You'll find out if
1. You see VIP's start dropping to Prem status on the forums
2. When Sept 30th rolls round and you either stay VIP or drop to Prem because you only paid for 1 month.
3. Or the devs make an announcement on the subject. -
Are you buying GW2? If not then they are being punished by everyone that has chosen to stop spending money on NCSoft products and services.
Are you now going to argue that the amount of money they are losing to those people is insignificant? If so that also means that any boycott of NCSoft we perform is just as insignificant because it's our money they are losing.
So what's it going to be. Does your boycott mean anything or are you admitting that you are insignifacant? -
Quote:1. The monthly VIP stipend has nothing to do with the Paragon Store. It has to do with recurring subscriptionsSorry to break this to you.No new points. Live market down as of 9-1. Some people have reported that they were able to purchase items, but officially it's down.
I,also, recently read that people are get NCSoft credits for the subscription money owed back to them, rather than real money.
Good Time
2. All recurring subscriptions were cancelleled at the beginning of September, so people shouldn't be getting VIP perks because they can't pay for additional time, unless the devs managed to negotiate something with NCSoft to let them continue being awarded.
3. The Market isn't down. Purchases can still be made. The only thing disabled is the ability to buy more Paragon Points. And why anyone would want to throw good money away buying more points after NCSoft just kicked us in the balls is beyond me.
4. Being given credit towards other games has been a long standing NCSoft policy for many years whenever they shut down a game. Yes it sucks if you don't want to deal with NCSoft again but it's not as if this was a new policy being done just to us. -
Quote:That Arenanet is in the same subsidiary boat that we are/were in. NCSoft caould have just as easily pulled the same stunt with them as they did with us. They didn't choose to tank Paragon Studios, the {pancakes} in charge of NCSoft Corporate did.Your point? I didn't have a problem with NCSoft before this. Now I do.
It's perfectly reasonable to choose not to do business with NCSoft anymore, but please let's try to focus any negative feelings on the ones actually responsible for making the decision.
Arenanet's already getting punished financially for something they didn't do because of NCSofts decision. -
And there's nothing wrong with that decision. Had I not bought the game over a month ago I would be doing the same as you. But since I can't get a refund I'm not going to turn my pre-purchase of GW2 into a gift by not playing it. It's not CoH but I don't hate the game.

Quote:Sorry Sam but we're using your definition here in the examples you gave about why you feel open world missions can't give a sense of completion. You could if you went out of your way to time-travel to that content.
Quote:I don't like overwold activities, because they can never be "completed" on account of all those other people that the activities have to be available for.
No instanced mission in CoH is ever completed because it is always available to other people, and frequently to the same character via certain repeatable contacts. -
Please do your fellow Americans all a favor and stop flaunting your constitutional ignorance. It's as embarassing as an American that can't find Canada on a map or one that thinks Alaska is an island.

Quote:Actually prior to I13 PvP worked exactly the same way PvE worked, and it was the time where the population was at its highest (PvP wise) and I didn't hear anyone once complain during that time period about a specifically nasty community. So no, you're wrong.
Denial's not just a river in Egypt. Every single time over the past 8 1/2 years anyone has asked the community what they hated about PvP they always pointed to the obnoxious foul mouthed people like you.
And yes you are obnoxious and foul mouthed.

Whose talking about kill-stealing. I'm talking about how in both GW2 and here how reward drops aren't fought over by teammates. You don't have to put up with some jacktard claiming greed on every treasure drop. Your rewards are yours and yours alone.
But since you mentioned Kill-Stealing, I have yet to encounter any. From what I've seen someone jumping in on your fight doesn't affect your drops. Each players rewards are determined individually and don't affect what another person does or doesn't get.
There seems to be three tiers of rewards. Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Some fool that hangs back and tries kill-stealing only earns a bronze reward, while the people that apply themselves earn Silver and Gold rewards.
Quote:I'm worried about having a sense of accomplishment.
Quote:I don't like overwold activities, because they can never be "completed" on account of all those other people that the activities have to be available for.
Quote:And the fact that if I go to do a "quest" but I'm not quick enough on my reading and question, then other people will complete it for me. I didn't care for door-sitting in City of Heroes, and I don't care for going to a quest that's already half-way done, only to see it finished before I'm done reading the contact dialogue and figuring out what to do. I don't like playing to other people's schedules, I don't like depending on other people and I don't like objectives from my quests being completed with no input from me. I logged into the game to play, not have it played for me.
You don't have to depend on anyone nor can anyone complete your objectives while you are reading the contact dialogue.
The only content where everyone contributes to completeing mission objectives is when their version of a GM event spawns, like Lusca, or Rikti Raid, etc. -

Be sure to pick up the next novel in the Dreden files "Cold Days" to be released November 27, 2012

I would die laughing to read that Harry Dresden accidentally burned down NCSoft in one of Jim Butcher's upcoming novels.
