Quote:Why does it have to be a failed request on one server that leads to a second search? That sounds overly complicated. Why can't they just search all the servers at the same time.I'd just like to point out a bit of information tangential to this issue.
In the new character creator, the check name button has become a Check and Reserve button. I thought it was a nice expansion to the function.
As for the OP I agree with Lothic. I'm not sure a failed request should lead to a second request on all servers for the few people who would be willing to server hop for the sake of a name.
The devs made a game where people can fly and shoot laser beams out of their eyes, surely they can program a name search on all the servers at once. Their frakking geniuses for Crom's sake. -
Nevermelting Ice keeps your cold drinks cold.
-
No doing it after Freedom launches is a very good idea.
I suggest no earlier than January 1st, 2525. That'll give the devs 514 years to get the feature perfected. -
I like this idea. It's frustrating to search each individual server one at a time.

Quote:Consider yourself a member of the congregation. Heck you can be a Bishop too if ya likeI wish to become a member of the Church of the Drunken Squirrel - do you have some pamphlets/literature I could distribute?
.
We hold daily services wherever alcohol is consumed and should you ever feel the overwhelming power of Ralph Almighty,

there are altars conveniently located for personal prayer sessions, confessions, and sacrifices.
As far as pamphlets and literature are concerned, we talked about printing some until we realized we could buy more booze with the money.

Quote:Hmmm I've said my piece, why continue posting?.
While subscribed I want to get the powersets for free, without waiting months for each one.
I'm perfectly happy with them making me pay to 'keep' premium powersets, but not pay for them while I'm already paying them monthly.
I prefer the Turbine/Cryptic model of Hybrid payment, rather than this stange double dipping method Paragon are implementing.
Translation: You know that you are wrong but you'll never admit it. -
Quote:You are absolutely correct. I totally forgot about the value of the free server transfers. So from our account billing page this is what we have.Actually, the subscription isn't costing you anything. Subscription is 14.95/month. They give you 400 points (5.00) and a free server transfer (9.95) every month. 5.00 + 9.95 = 14.95.
And that assumes you are using the monthly subscription plan. If you use any other plan, they are actually paying you to stay subscribed.
The title of this thread is, "I'm sorry, but I say no." If you say, "no" then that's fine. Say "No", and move on. What this thread is really about is, "I want to say No, but your marketing makes it so hard, so I am gonna complain about how effectively you tempt me to spend more money."
1 month: $14.99* - $14.95 for server transfer and store credit = $.04 monthly sub fee.
3 months: $41.85* (equivalent to $13.95 per month) - $14.95 for server transfer and store credit = NCSoft paying us $1.00 to be a VIP
6 months: $77.70* (equivalent to $12.95 per month) - $14.95 for server transfer and store credit = NCSoft paying us $2.00 to be a VIP
12 months: $143.40* (equivalent to $11.95 per month) - $14.95 for server transfer and store credit = NCSoft paying us $3.00 to be a VIP
My god we are so getting screwed. Do the devs really think we are just going to allow them to pay us to play this game?
PAYING VIP'S TO PLAY IS UNFAIR!
PAYING VIP'S TO PLAY IS UNFAIR!
PAYING VIP'S TO PLAY IS UNFAIR!

Quote:Please if the devs gave everyone solid gold bricks some idjit would be complaining that they didn't give him a wheelbarrow to carry them in.You and I both know that someone, somewhere would scream bloody murder if they ever bought a token that at some point was either taken away by the system or was otherwise rendered unusable.

There's some good examples in this thread.

I'm particularly amused by the argument that someone can sue the game for past sub fees because switching to F2P is against the law. -
Yeah it's true! The third degree burns were all faked. The hospital doctors and nurses where she was treated were all in on it. They all lied about the severity of her injuries and the skin graft was never actually done. It was all a huge conspiracy designed to get back at McDonalds because they stopped selling McRibs at that restaurant.

Quote:This is why Crim is a Bishop in the Church of the Drunken Squirrel.I always considered buying the boxed game as buying a convenience. The disk lets you install the game far faster than you could downloading it over the internet. So in a $20 retail box you get 1 month of subscription time equal to approximately $15 and the convenience of installing most of the game (not including updates) from the disk which is way faster than dowloading. So I'm basically paying a $5 charge for a disk that enables me to play in an hour or two rather than in a day or two.
Yeah but it would sure make an entertaining episode on Peoples Court or Judge Judy.Quote:^this.
This is exactly why I have bought every box as it came out - for ease in re-installing the game when a computer wipe has to happen or upon buying a new one.
I have tried to follow the bizarre legal reasoning frorm the OP, without much success. It's not something that would succeed in impressing the professors at the law school I attended.... -

Quote:Simple. In this scenario they can't hold onto a token. It's a service that has to be used when it is bought. What happens when a SG Super Leader buys one of these supposed SG rename tokens while they are a Super Leader then for some reason doesn't try to use it until they are no longer Super Leader?
If it's done as a token why wouldn't a player be able to carry an unused token? We can carry respec tokens, costume change tokens, etc. As long as it can only be used if the person is flagged as a Super Leader who cares.Quote:Why would a non Super Leader be able to hold onto one of these tokens? -
Quote:When I read some of the complaints being made and the bizarre logic used to justify them I was reminded of this website.I get the feeling T Immortalus is the kind of person who would demand that he be given a full meal when he is offered an appetizer for free, and complain when his demand is not met out of some sense that he deserves to have the same thing people are paying for given to him for nothing. The sheer amount of entitlement emanating from him is astounding.

Quote:Do you like random SG members adding crap to the base you spent hours designing so it looks just right?Except that those can be added via "Add personal items." Would YOU want to have everyone in your SG able to change the name?
There's two solutions to the SG rename token problem you are describing.
1. The token can't be used unless the player is flagged as being the SG Leader in an SG.
2. The token can only be bought by an SG Leader. They could add a button somewhere in the SG management screens (Buy SG Rename Token) -
Quote:The same can be said about the vet rewards that give players access to(a) that'd be a lousy vet reward ("Yay, a SG name change... wait, I don't run any SGs, that's useless,")
Wall Posters
Display Cases
Arachnos/Longbow Flyers
Which are solely for base decorations.
Don't get me wrong tho I agree that it's a lousy vet reward, just pointing out that there's precedence. -

Last I heard we are going to be getting a $5.00 credit in the store each month we pay our sub fee so we'll actually only be paying $10.00 a month to stay subbed instead of $15.
-
Quote:Are you aware that you can create a character on the VIP server, give it the name you want, and NOT play it. You can do that 12 times. 48 times if your willing to buy the extra slots. My toons names are important to me, but I have already been told by two players that if I don't move to the VIP that they would take two of my names.
If anyone told me what they told you, I'd camp my favorite names and then camp their names as well just to spite them. -
Quote:No they are quite clear in their documentation that the actual channels you get is subject to change. Now you see...
This is where law might vary from country to country.
But if I enter into a contract with you, and part of that contract is you give me goods for X amount of money, or a certain amount of services for X amount of money, and you suddenly demand more money or cut the services/goods i recive then well... to put it polietly you are ****ed in court.
Not all channels and features are available in all areas. Pricing, programming, channel location and packaging subject to change. ***** [Basic/Signature Digital] Cable TV service needed to access other levels of service. Leased equipment must be returned to ***** if service is cancelled. The names and logos of featured programs are the property of their respective owners.
It's all in the contract before you sign and agree to it.
You are paying for access to the package, not specific channels. -
-
Quote:Yep happens all the time. That's why they sell packages of channels. The channels available in the packages change from time to time, they even drop channels or pick up new channels.I was talking internet, since we were talking about cable modems.
Unless America is some sort of strange place where all the TV comes through the internet.
To take it to TV's.
Your TV/Satalite/Cable provider gives you XY and Z channels as part of your subscriptionj. Then they change it so that channels Y and Z are now an extra charge, but still charge you the same for just channel X as your were paying for XYZ. -
Quote:I thought you said you were quitting and not coming back because you don't like CoH: Freedom.I would love to see it available year round through Ouroboros like the old Galaxy City will be.
It would also help during the winter holiday for getting badges if Pocket D is too full(of badgers and incarnate trial teams and the new sewers trial teams0) to have your own instance for you and your friends in your team.
They could disable the NPCs during the "off-season", but I want the area to play around with and relax in.
Quote:I'm letting my time run out and not coming back unless there are some major changes to make me feel welcome and my money feel wanted rather than demanded.
So all it takes to get you back is access to the Chalet? Okay. I'll /sign the OP's idea then. -
I like that the Chalet access is restricted to the Winter Event. It keeps it fresh.
