Quote:very serious - that was the whole basis of the reboot - the story was the doctor had sacrificed everything, even his own people to lock the darleks and time lords in a loop to end the war - that he was the last...and when he and rose found the last darlek - it was in the near future of earth. The zillionaire collector had a darlek and had no idea what it was...he collected aliens and had no idea what a Darlek. The doctor even has a conversation with it, how they are the last two of thier kind...
The reboot was hinged on that fact - there were no more darlek or timelords - that was his great sadness he carried. Having darleks pop up like roaches seems to go against everything that brought dr. who back. Since they have brought back so many Darleks so many times, I wish they would bring back some time lords - the Rani, for example was ruthelss - if the master lived so should she...Romanna, the docotors time lord companion - I would think she would have survived somehow as well.
I hate to be the one to break this to you, but you completely missed what Dark was talking about. If you look closely at what he bolded in your post you'll see he is referring to your constant mispelling the name of the Doctor's greatest enemy.
There is no such thing as a "Darlek" anywhere in the Doctor Who franchise. It's spelled D - A - L - E - K.
There is no "r" in their name. Oh and you aren't being picked on for your typos, you consistently spell the "Dalek" name wrong the exact same way each time you use it.

Quote:Uhm you dop realize that NCSoft/PS didn't get to decide what to advertise. The companies with products they want to push are the ones that decide where and when they want to advertise their products. Now THIS I completely believe -- trying to sell athletic shoes to MMO gamers makes about as much sense as a food stand trying to sell venison burgers at a PETA rally!
(Okay, maybe some of us SHOULD get off the couch and get a little more exercise, but an in-game billboard for shoes isn't going to make us race out and buy their product.)
Energy drinks, fast food, gaming mice and keyboards, bigger and better video cards, other computer gear -- THOSE would have been the types of things to try and sell to us, the target audience.
And we just don't have a big enough target audience to make advertising here worth while.
Quote:IMHO, they could have tried to sell twice as many ads for half as much and run them for half as long, because after a while the shoe ads DID start to blur into the scenery, but I recognized the second billboard the day it came out and stopped to read it. "Hey, cool! Uh -- what IS it?" And then before long, they became part of the scenery as well. -

Quote:Technically, no, it hasn't.
NCsoft have not once communicated with me, their customer, to inform me that the service they are providing is ending.
A customer service staff member who works for a subsidiary of the company I am actually paying money to has told me this. It appears (though there is no proof) that the company I am paying money to has informed a news website that this is happening.
But I have had nothing from NCsoft to tell me. -
Quote:Congratulations. When you get up every day and predict something bad will happen "tomorrow" you will eventually be correct. What an accomplishment. Even a broken clock is correct twice a day. Your parents must be very proud of you. You grown up to to be the human equivalent of a broken clock.I hate to say it but I was right they are ending CoX at the end of the year. If everyone wasn't a bunch of stubborn babies CoX would still be here.
What will you move onto predicting after Nov 30? Telling people it will rain eventually?

Actually it's been hit or miss. Some VIP's have dropped to Prem when their billing date arrived. One can only keep his/her fingers crossed and hope it doesn't happen when it's their turn.

Quote:Well I'm stumped then. I don't know if this will help but what I'm doing is exploring first.I'm focused on the storyline, but I am doing all the heart missions I can find. There aren't enough, and they aren't spaced well.
I completely search the starter cities hitting all the waypoints, points of interest, and vistas.
Then I do the same with the level 1 to whatever starter zones.
Then I make incursions into the higher zones. No fighting, no missions, just exploring and unlocking as many of the waypoints, points of interest, and vistas as I can.
As my first character I made a giant *****-cat (Char) hunter and my exploring was looking for pets to tame. I acquired 36 pets before I hit my 20's.
When I get tired of exploring I go back (using the waypoints) and start hitting the Renown Hearts and Skill Challenges in the starter zones to get the bonus for completing map exploration.
Now I'm sitting at level 34 with 39% of the world explored and 1 Gold, 70 odd silver and 80+ copper. -
I'm a week past my bill date and I haven't been billed nor have I lost my VIP status.

Quote:To me it sounds like Remus is ignoring all the other content except the personal storyline.Ah, here is where knowledge comes in. Your personal storyline is intentionally given level gaps so you can explore and do other missions. The missions in the game are the hearts on the map. I have never seen any 'griefing' in the game yet as there is no such thing as kill-stealing - you don't split xp/drops at all - everyone gets everything so everyone is encouraged to help everyone else. I actually haven't used the dodge mechanics yet, believe it or not. Maybe it's my class but I haven't had any need to dodge so far. Granted, I am only level 20ish so maybe it becomes more necessary.
Speaking for myself, I consistently find myself so wrapped up in exploring zones, completing open world missions, and unlocking waypoints and ressurection points to earn the special exploration rewards that when I finally get around to doing my personal storyline I'm never less than 10+ levels higher than the mission itself.
And I've never had to "farm" moas or anything else to level up. If you "have" to resort to farming to level up your playing the game wrong. -
Quote:Depends on the zone and the area you're in. Example: In one zone, I attacked this one solo mob, then 5 seconds later I had 7 mobs beating the crap out me. Another example, I wandered into an area of the "Night Court". I could actually see the mobs respawning as fast as brought them down. If you consider that easy, good for you, guess you're a better player.
Short respawn times means no one can grief other players by spawn camping and/or kill stealing.
Quote:And yes, *some* zones are somewhat easy to traverse. Others have mobs spaced so that you pretty much have to fight for every inch.
Quote:I've used auto-follow in DAOC, CoH, GW1, and every other game that features it. It is a nice feature to have, and I personally prefer focusing on my attacks rather than having to line up said attacks. If that's being spolied, then fine, I'm spoiled. To each his own. -
In fact the only thing "deleting" his characters will accomplish is insure that the only people that can access them is NCSoft.

Quote:Pay attention. We weren't talking about NCSoft. We were talking about Perfect World who now owns Cryptic.Ok, first of all NCSOFT is Korean, not Chinese. Second, Cryptic Studios is the original DEVELOPERS of the City of Heroes property that worked with the PUBLISHER NCSoft to release the game, the later sold the game to the PUBLISHER, NCSOFT, a number of years ago.
Quote:On a vaguely related note i was reading the Perfect World terms the other day and they actually state that by agreeing to use their services anything you create in their games or post on any of their forums becomes their property. Not that they reserve the rights to use it, it's actually their exclusive property as soon as it's posted in their games or forums. Obviously that might not hold up in court, but unless i drastically misread the agreement that's what it claims.
Quote:I'm curious to know what legal theory Perfect World's lawyers believed allows them to circumvent US Copyright Law:
Quote:Maybe they believe the US can't enforce American copyright laws in China.
But even if we were talking about NCSoft the instead of Perfect World the US copyright laws still can't be enforced outside US borders without the cooperation of the foreign government where the copyright violations are occuring. -

I'm sorry then, I only intended to offer a possible reason why we hadn't seen PvP mentioned yet. I meant no slight against anyone that likes PvP.

We've had people make far more outrageous complaints who were quite serious about them so it can be hard to tell without an emoticon or other indication.
Like the guy that thought the Science Booster would entice children into cross dressing
or the guy that argued that the Freebie Friday items were comparable to giving spoiled rotting food to a starving person.

So you paid for three months and as Leo pointed out the servers will be up for three months so unless you drop down to Premium between now and then you're not entitled to a refund.

Quote:If some western publisher doesn't see the value (monetary & otherwise) in CoH, then this is an industry that truly deserves to go belly-up
Careful how quickly you condem Western Publishers for not picking up CoH. It's entirely possible NCSoft is unwilling to sell the IP or wants more money than others are willing to pay to acquire the IP. -

I'm sorry Fey, but I don't find it the least bit odd that a game that (by the devs own admission) has a community that is overwhelmingly PvE oriented hasn't mentioned PvP until someone who is actually interested in that playstyle shows up and mentions it.
