Oh I know I had at least 2-3 mobs on me. I just don't know where they all came from. I never saw any of the ones behind me leave, and I never saw any additional ones in front of me or anywhere near to aggro to the sides of me. I ran between houses where I've never seen spawns, jumped fences, ran thru the always empty park thing. Jumping stuff kept me alive longer. And you are right about the church mobs. I was just a few feet from the steps hen they appied the coup de grace.

That's why I was heading for the church when I got up around the Fire House and was still being attacked. Died just outside in front of the church steps.

Most times I do, then there are a few times when nothing stops them or other NPC's.

I don't understand how you could possibly see that kind of motivation behind the regeneration. It's just regeneration. If you got away from them, you'd regen to full too.
I wouldn't call it motivation, It's more a description of how that annoying game mechanic makes me feel.

Also, did you know that if you press X you can activate sprint? It's not superfast (at least not early on), but it can make getting through crowds of mobs somewhat easier.
Okay that may have been part of the problem while being chased. I honestly can't recall ever using "x" to sprint.

I can understand this. I really hate it some days, because it gets the better of me. I used to hate it a lot, when I started playing WoW in 2005, but I'm used to it now, and used to finding ways to avoid the mobs entirely, or letting them chase me, but they rarely catch me.

And if this pisses you off, I do not look forward to your first encounter with the ak'ab. D:
Every game has had at least one thing I couldn't stand but a single peeve isn't going to stop me from playing if I'm having fun. I just do my best to both adapt and if possible avoid the frustration.

Since Freedom launched there has only been two types of people playing CoH.

    1. Those that actually spent money on the game.
    2. Those that didn't spend any money on the game.

It's as clear as day that they aren't concerned about the loss of revenue they are going to lose if group one never buys another NCSoft product.

As for group two, if they don't care if the paying customers take their money elsewhere, they sure as heck aren't going to lose any sleep if the people that weren't spending money to play NCSoft games continue not spending any money on NCSoft products.
  3. Oh another thing. Anyone know how I can increase my jump distance? There's two lore objects in Seoul on top of a roof and a balcony thing (8 and 13 I think) I can't seem to get because I can't jump far enough to reach get them.

I've watched other players make the jumps, but I can't seem to match the distance. If there's a skill I have to buy I don't mind saving up to get it.

And yet I've had two of those big guys on the beach near the Bed and Breakfast and 2-3 three mobs of townie zombies chase me from the beach, past the fire department, and kill me on the steps to the Church.

Funny how they didn't seem to be leashed when I wasn't fighting back.

And you know what? It didn't bother me that they kept after me and overwhelmed me with sheer numbers. I found that to be immersive. They were relentless just like movie zombies.

But a mindless undead suddenly developing survival instincts, and then taunting me by instantly regenerating? Essentially saying,"Neener neener neener I'm at full health! thpthpthpthpt! Nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah!" Pisses me off.

I still like the game tho. Just not that particular game mechanic.

Anyone buying the CoH IP isn't going to restrict themselves to only accepting customers from the Western market. They are going to accept any customers they can get and unlike NCSoft they are going to advertise the game to get more customers. And that will be competition against the games NCSoft has chosen to support in the Eastern market.

Edit: If I had the money and was able to get my hands on the CoH IP you can damn well bet I'd have some new zones developed and tailored to attract players in the Eastern market.

    CoH Tokyo
    CoH Seoul
    CoH Beijing

Throw in some grindfest to appeal to that type of playstyle and Eastern AT's with dedicated storylines. then move back West with

CoH Sydney for our buddies down under and

CoH London, Paris, Moscow, Berlin etc. etc. etc.

Maybe not right this second, but we know it's your job to pass along whatever drivel they hand you. Nobody faults you for it, but, like I said before, we know where it's coming from.

And, keep in mind I know what you said on one of the Coffee Talks, that some people at NCSoft are on our side. That's nice, but unfortunately for us they're obviously not the ones calling the shots in this and people above them are making the whole organization look bad by association.

Ironically, the people who are on our side are probably the ones hurt the most by NC bashing while the real villains don't give a damn. That's not fair or right, but nothing about what's happened around here since Aug 31st is fair or right.

    .
And NCSoft didn't just decide to shut down the game and lay off all the PS employees over night. So before they dropped the bomb on Paragon Studios they were treating them like mushrooms while they were making their plans to shut them down.

With all due respect H_S, do you honestly think we are going to believe anything NCSoft says? They are, after all the same company that lost a multi-million dollar lawsuit involving forged documentation.

They are deceitful opportunists that can't be trusted as far as you can spit.

That's why I wish we could have cherry picked the good stuff from both games to improve our costume creator.

I'd even like to include the way STO lets people put Tattoos on characters with an x, y, z axis.

So using your figures the "computer" cost $10 bucks a day to run with the cents broken down to three decimal places, and my profit is one $100 dollars even.

Since you said that $100 bucks is profit then my "expenses" have already been deducted. So hell no I wouldn't shut down. That's a huge friggin success. By the end of the week I'll have spent $70 bucks and earned $700.

In a month I'll have spent $300 bucks and earned $3,000.

In a year I'll have spent $3,650 bucks and earned $36,500.

Only an idiot or someone whose motivations are far more complicated than simple greed would shut that down.

Of course, for those who want to expand their horizon, there's always Seven of Nine. Or the Borg Queen.

(Gawd, I would totally do the Borg Queen... except for all those nanoprobes.)
Not back then when the movies were first released. We've come a long way over the years. I know I grew up thru it.

Although, as you said, some like it.
I was just reacting to that particular image and also wondering why that'd be the default appearance the developers decided upon.
Then again, clearly the entire visual style is just not for me, so what difference does it make, hehe!

    Thanks though, Forbin.
I agree with you about how our characters simply look so much better. The graphics/artwork whatever it's called by Dink and crew is the bomb.

But CO did do a better job designing a costume creator that has a lot more choices.

It's one of the very few things I give them credit for, and I wish the two could have been combined for our game.

Their level of costume customization offers far more choices than anything we had in this game.

And did we ever have the ability to have up to 9 different colors on a costume piece?

Can we put emblems on our backs or on our capes? And patterns are not the same as emblems.

And when eactly was the last time anyone in CoH was able to customize their characters facial expression?

And how long was it before we got glowing costume pieces? Oh and are we able to control how brightly the costume pieces glow?

Now I'm not talking about the quality of the costume pieces appearence. Our costume pieces look a helluva lot better than CO's.

I'm saying if we had the features in their costume creator combined with the quality of costume design Dink and Sexy Jay put out we'd have had people subbing just for the joy of making characters.

First off E-K I'm going to assume you don't know that you can do this

If you don't like the Comic Style Outlining and don't want to see it in the game, turn it off. No one is forced to use the Comic Outlining.

There are customers of that game that actually prefer the Comic Style Outlining. Why? I have no idea. I can't stand it myself, but when I do play I don't have to look at it cuz I have it turned off.

That already happened during the first month CO went live. All the whiners and complainers that had some pet peeve (especially the ones that got busted for abusing exploits in the MA released earlier that same year) were predicting Doom and the end of CoH all came quietly skulking back when they saw how badly CO sucked especially after the massive Launch Day Stealth Nerf which nuked all of their headstart characters.

CO got hammered having to give back refunds from all the disgruntled players.

Now that the game is free people are more likely to keep whatever account they make and only play sporadically and never spend a dime cuz it sure as hell ain't CoH.

I will agree partially with the goat about travel powers Some of them are far superior to what we had. Teleport, tunneling, and hover "object" (anything you can stand on and use powers as opposed to our non combat rocket board etc) come to mind, while Swinging looks frakking stupid anywhere outside a cityscape and there's nothing to for the other end of the rope to attach to.

I think their various fly powers was a complete joke. We could easily duplicate them all with costume recipes and auras.

And I wish we had the flexibilty of choices they have in their costume creator.

I can vouch for this. I've lost count of the number of times I've had some twit try running past me with several mobs chasing him only to have the mobs completely ignore me and catch up with the twit and gank his stupid <insert explicative>.

Now something that does irritate me about the NPC's is the instant healing. Last time I was on I took a shot at a sole target and kept shooting at it while backing up to maintain distance. Suddenly the NPC stops instant heals, breaks off combat, and runs away. Forcing me to start over. As far as I'm concerned that's total BS. I don't give a rat's patootie what the devs reasons are, an NPC that quits combat and instantly heals back to full in the middle of combat is a BS game mechanic. Especially when I've had NPC's chase me clear across the map when I wasn't fighting back.

Pretty much the same here. I've argued about stuff I felt strongly about but after years of working CS I gave up on anger and grudges long before I started playing MMO's. Laughing is a lot easier, feels better, and is more satisfying.
