IMO, in this game, here and now, it's not a fight that needs to be faught. I've never seen any incidences of the GLBT community being picked on in this game, and if I ever DO, I'll report the scuzzbags immediately.
Congregating as a group in things like GLBT SG's, or even single sex or ethnic group SG's and the like is just segregating yourselves, in an environment where it just doesn't MATTER who you are. You could be teaming with Kim Jong Il and it just DOESN'T MATTER!
We all share a thing in common, we all like to play CoH. Let's just group together based on THAT and leave artificial boundries for the idiocy of the real world, yeah? -

Quote:Among strangers? Generally, yes. Among friends? That's completely different.I hope you practice what you preach. Never referring to current or past girl-friends (boy-), talking about who you think is attractive, implying who you live with, discouraging others who want to talk about their wives or husbands, ignoring any form of in-game affection (*hugs {player}* type stuff), etc., ad nauseum.
I have zero problems with whichever sexuality a person is, I just don't see the need to broadcast it to all and sundry inside a GAME. It's no different to holding up a sign saying "LOOK AT ME!" -
REALLY don't see what someone's sexuality has got to do with the game, TBH. Such a thing is private and should be kept so.

Thanks to prior experience of the sheer asshattery that DXP brings out in people, not to mention the massive lag, server disconnects and all sorts of other issues endemic to DXP weekends, I haven't logged in at ALL, and probably won't until DXP is over.

Likewise, you can find out all about us lot, our chars, and loads of our fiction, over on the Handbook of the Union Universe.

We drive on that side of the road because in days of old, when our ancestors were slaughtering your ancestors in the thousands, keeping your enemy to the right made it easier for us to cut your heads off.

Apart from the technical problems, what was wrong with the old EU forums? -
Quote:No no no no no no... You've got it all wrong!Glad to have all the Euro's join us
I'm excited about all the new people to be RP'ing with us, but I'm sort of dreading all the extra "o"'s and "u"'s lying around.
WE are happy for YOU guys to be joining US!
This isn't a merger... It's a takeover! Bwahahahaha!

Oooooooooooooon a slightly more serious note. Virtueverse and Unionverse together eh? This could be... Interesting... -
Hmm.. The new word filter seems somewhat less draconian than the old one. This is a good thing!

Quote:Horses for courses really. The old EU hero theme was great for me, the old US hero theme was vile. Both old villain themes were vile and bad for MY eyes.My recommendations in reverse order - create a brighter color scheme that is easier to read or duplicate the old site's color scheme and decrease the amount of padding and unnecessary spacing.
The new hero theme, whilst a little dull, is VERY easy on my tired old and knackered eyes. Not looked at the new villain theme. -
Hello girls... (and the boys too I guess!) Be afraid. Be VERY afraid!

Quote:True that. You say that, FFM, but you forget that the rest of us had to read your posts twice (or thrice on occasion).
On balance I'd say the rest of us were affected far more, and in much deeper ways.
Quote:Do you still have difficulties browsing on your phone with all images disabled? -
Most of THOSE were being caused by the constant problems plaguing the UBB software. I was probably the worst affected in the EU by that...

[Objective Criticism]
The forums are no longer viable on a mobile device. Too large, too slow, and too bandwidth intensive.
Shame really, I used to browse them on my phone fairly often... -
Quote:As said, that lets you turn of sigs totally, or images totally. Not images in sigs. If you turn of images totally, you lose emoticons too.Yes, that WOULD be nice.... IF people used it. I'm afraid instead we'll have the "Nanny Squad" that will come by to say that all images should be BANNED PRONTO because THEY don't want to use the image blocker.... or they don't want their under 18 kid to read the forums and see nastiness because THEY didn't use the image blocker.
I know this because it has happened over and over and OVER in the past. People would rather have SOMEONE ELSE do the work for them rather than let them resolve the problem for themselves.
I swear, I'm surrounded by...... ummm... very nice people. -
Quote:Ah, but I still want to see people's sigs. I just don't want to see graphics in them as it's a pain in the rear. The options for disabling images are under User CP, you can individually turn off avatars, sigs, and some third option (in-post pics?)
Plus, I'd point out, on the old forums, when question about graphics in sigs, the mod reply was always "NEVER!" -
I nagged relentlessly on Paragon staffers twitter pages.

Hi TheOcho!
I think a good place to start would be with the word filter. We have many many words in use over here that are perfectly harmless, yet are filtered due to an alternate meaning in the US. It's often been a bone of contention in the past as we're unable to use our native tongue in the way we're accostomed.
Perhaps these words could be removed from the filter, with the proviso that anyone using them in an insulting manner be banned from the forums?
One example would be a 3 letter word beggining with N that we use in context like "I'm just going to n** to the store", meaning I'm going to the store very quickly and will be back soon; whereas in the US it's seen as a derogatory term for people of asian descent
Another would be the 3 letter word beginning with F that we use for a cigarette and you use for homosexual.
Or the 5 letter word beginning with F that you use for someone's bottom, and we use for a womans... aaah... For a womans... Ummm... you get what I mean, I think? -
Please, for the love of all that's holy, TURN GRAPHICS IN SIGS OFF!!

and so is your double posting FFM.
Now I think you're doing it on purpose.
